I installed the wobbish CM9 KING rom which lags to much and I lost my 2.3.3 UK THREE rom does anyone have it so I put it back on my phone and kies doesn't work because im on windows 8 developer preview.
This is so stupid over 150 views but no replys.
Just grab the 2.3.3 rom from sammobile.com - the advantage of using stock is that it is unlocked. 3 lock all of their phones, and I wouldn't be suprized if they were using CarrierIQ.

But three has an update I want 2.3.6
Dont think youll find it anywhere! I looked everywhere.
You have several options:-
1 - Install a CWM backup (if you made one - dont forget to format the filesystem back)
2 - Flash froyo and get kies to update.
3- flash directly 2.3.6 which can be found on sammobile.com there is virtually no difference in that and the 3 branded version. (the extra apps can be downloaded from market)
having spoken to 3 on numerous occasions they do tweak the firmware a little but dont lock it.
I was in the same position.. Three wont give out their rom so I told them to stuff themselves. I went and flashed 2.3.3 XEU and it works perfectly. No Three bloatware, I used to have a backup but deleted it because my CSC was stuck on FOP for no reason whatsoever.. Hope I helped. XEU really is the way to go For repairs I think you can still go to Samsung with it. P.s. Rickywyatts HTC style rom is based on 3's rom

Hey there, I installed ICS 4.0.3 on to my S2 yesterday, after using it for a day, the battery drains way too fast, the music player keeps crashing, and other various apps keep crashing. I would like to revert to GB 2.3.6.
I used to have KK2, and im on LP8. I dont play around with ROMs so these are all stock ROMs.
Someone please guide me on what to do. I did a search but that didnt help me much

The file i currently have is GT-I9100_XSA_I9100XWKK2_I9100XSAKK1_I9100XXKI4.tar.md5
yup do a full factory reset and flash gb via odin **imp** jus for ur info the modem of ics remain afta flashin gb too, well i seen it all the time and i used to flash gb modem separately..
just make a factory reset from the phone menu,
and flash it form ODIN...
there are newer GB versions available than your choosen one...
I just hope you tried the newer ics stocks and wiped after flash and didn't restore anything. Ics working just fine on my brothers s2 for a month and I'm running stock just fine since yesterday

I upgraded to ICS via kies and did not wipe after upgrading....will wiping make the phone work any better, I am wanting to downgrade due to the battery life being VERY bad with ICS
m8 check pm***
Wipe will make day and night difference but you will lose your apps and data. And you should not restore your backups from GB to Ics
Dial *2767*3855# to wipe

Hey fellas, i'm looking to send my phone to Samsung for servicing, but obviously i cant let them see that i'm running ICS because it isnt out in Singapore yet.
so i've download DXLP7 in hope that i could flash my country's firmware before returning my phone.
Download both the kernel and the 7zip file that is 310mb in size.
opened the massive file to only find one tar file, so if i flash that via odin, my phone will completely return to stock?
as in a condition that the service centre wont suspect?
what about the kernel that i downloaded, do i have to flash that as well?
Much appreciate some help.
Regards,
Shawn.

Look at the battery status wich app is draining your battery.
Yesterday i didnt use my phone for 2 hours, before my battery was around 50% but after the 2 hour my battery was only 18%. I looked at my battery report/status and it said:
Xda 29
Screen 27
And some things like
Bla bla 7
Bla bla 4
...
Mostly my screen haves around 60% so, now xda is the same value but the screen didnt use more or less energy so.........
Thanks to the xda app my battery drained 2x so hard.
I gues (how do you spell that?) you also use the xda app and it alsobis your problem.

Hello All,
I am a noob.
So I am looking into going back to GB 2.3.5
I have flashed stock ICS Netherlands XWLP7 and I have downloaded the firmware of my country.
Which is: GT-I9100_EGY_I9100JPKJ2_I9100OJPKJ1_I9100XXKI4.tar.md5
And kernal: Kernel_I9100JPKJ2.tar.md5
I have a question, it has been explained to me that I need to flash these files using odin+flashing a PIT file and using re-partition.
I could not find a PIT file? where do I get it from to go along with my firmware?
And, do I need to flash a Modem?
Is it possible for the kind soul thats going to answer my questions to put it in 1,2, 3 steps so I can understand what do to first?
I.E
1- Flash kernal
2- Flash firmware
or what?
Thanks a lot!
@ Sn3aks:
What is the reason you are downgrading to GB?
What is the condtion of your phone now?
Who advised you to use pit file?
---------- Post added at 10:02 AM ---------- Previous post was at 09:59 AM ----------
the firmware package you have mentioned already contains a kernel, no need of flashing kernel seperately..that is uploaded in the thread for future use when you needed to flash after rooting.
Thanks for your reply.
I am downgrading cause GB is more stable than ICS. Music player lags with some songs
Random crashes
I can not modify the in-call headset/handset volume from the servicemode. If you click Audio it doesnt come up with anything. And the in-call voice through earphones is really low
And other stuff that annoyed me and I couldnt remember.
The noticeable improvement in ICS is battery life and performance is fast
What is the condtion of your phone now?
My phone is ok, working fine, making calls, going over the internet normaly, IMEI is valid. Not rooted. Binary count = NO
Faryaab advised me to use a PIT file. I checked the guide in your signature and I read that anyone who asks about PIT file is a moron. Is this my case?
I dont think PIT file is required in your case,
You can try without using PIT first.
GT-I9100_EGY_I9100JPKJ2_I9100OJPKJ1_I9100XXKI4.tar.md 5
select above file from PDA of ODIN.
Do a factory reset before flashing...
Hey guys
My S2 was preloaded with ICS 4.0.3 when i bought it. However i have noticed problem with many of the HD games, they run for sometime and crash...
My question is, how can i downgrade to gingerbead 2.3.6.?
I did find my region 2.3.6 firmware on sammobile..so if i follow the flashing steps from odin..the downgrade will be done successfully?
Also how safe is the process?
Also i would like to know how to take a back up my phone in the current state? So if something goes wrong or if i am not satisified with the downgrade, i can go back to ICS 4 i.e. the same condition my phone was when i unboxed it?
Some suggestions and answers would be really appreciated
Thanks
You cant backup your current rom without rooting it. here is a good vid on how to root a galaxy s2 http://galaxys2root.com/galaxy-s2-root/how-to-root-galaxy-s2-i9100-icsandroid-4-0/
You will need to back up your phone using clockwork recovery
You can however download the latest rom using Check Fus you can find it here http://fus.nanzen.se/ This should be safe. this video here will show you how to use odin to flash a stock kernel http://galaxys2root.com/galaxy-s2-unroot/how-to-unrootunbrick-your-galaxy-s2-i9100-ics/
you can always go back to ics if you do not like the GB stock rom
Hope this helps

Yea flashing through Odin is safe. Just don't mess with the repartition box or pit files unless you are 100% sure what you're doing. And if you're stock you can backup your device through Kies.

hello everyone.
I'm using andyx firmware v15 and taking my attention that battery dies too fast and phone feels lagging at times.
So i want to go back to the stock firmware and use a rooted stock firmware. but i have a couple of questions:
1) i dont really know which pda or country's firmware i have to use.bought my phone from poland and living in turkey now. can i find out which version the phone originally came with from the box or anywhere else?
if using any firmware wont matter, is there any particular one i should use? maybe getting the newest updates before the ones?
2) is the version 4.0.4 safe to use? my friend suggested me to use that one but i'm a little pissed off after reading the brick stories about it.
3) also someone else told me to flash stock firmware then go for the siyah kernel. whats the benefit for that?

1) there are no particular firmwares. Try out different firmwares on whatever suits you best. I suggest you go up for Gingerbread because of its stability and battery life. But if you want to be updated on the trending things, go for ICS.
2) i suggest you go for custom roms with 4.0.4 as a basis.
3) siyah kernel MAY be a suitable kernel for you, but then again, it could be different. Try out different kernels that best suits you
-Try the search button for further info so you could get a variety of comments from users. Happy flashing

Use CheckFus to find the latest firmware for your phone and flash it with ODIN.
To root your phone just do some reading. There are quite a few methods described here, some are easy, some are more complicated. In the end choose one that corresponds to your needs and skills.
Ive just done what you were asking for similar reasons. I went on to samfirmware site and picked latest and safest ROM. Then on to chainfires thread for the insecure kernel to root my S2. (thanks to chainfire) No a difficult task just read before flasing and make necessary back ups. All tbe best.

Hey guys,
I know you guys probably think oh god not another boot loop thread, but i couldn't find someone with the same problem as this one. I don't own a s2 myself but my friend does and he doesnt understand a thing about android. He has never updated his phone, it's not rooted or unlocked or anything. But a few days ago the phone randomly shut down and went into a bootloop. I tried to wipe his cache via the recovery menu but that didn't work. Then i did a factory reset and that sort of worked, the phone worked again but yesterday it did the same thing. he likes the phone the way it is so he'd rather not update it.
Does anybody know what could cause this bootloop and what he can do to fix it? If he has to update is there a safe way to update but stay on gingerbread? I myself own a Xperia Arc, i know that flashing roms through flashtool is pretty safe, is there anything like that for the S2?
thx in advance
(system information)
You would use Odin instead of flashtool. You can get the rom from sammobile.
First check he can get into download mode.....

ah oke thx, waht thread would you refer me to for a quick odin guide? and doesn't gingerbread have better battery life on the S2? Some of my other friends are running ics on the s2 but they are having a horrible batterylife compared to my phone while the arc has a smaller battery.

Poor battery is only on pure stock ICS (rooted or not).
