First place to start is by reading all the FAQS and GUIDES#
Second place is to search as you are number one million posting the same question .
Fail to see why you want to root as phone with zero knowledge .
Most used root is
Root + CWM .
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1103399
But you will need to read and understand the instructions .

I think you might wish to avoid doing any of this.
e.g. Samsung bootloader is not locked...
Everything you need to know is already around too.
And learn to press thanks button

you dowloaded cwm after rooting?
better you stay away from rom manager, root with CF-root, you will get the app CWM manager with similar functions to Rom manager, will work withall the custom kernels for SGS2
Cf root

You've been given more than enough links.
See rule #1.
Don't be lazy.
EDIT to add: I should clarify - Not I nor anyone else can tell you what you should do next to your phone. If you want to root it or otherwise modify it, the links already provided to you will (eventually) lead you to the information you seek.
You seem to be asking what people here should advise you to do to your phone. How should we know? We don't know what you want to do, or what your tastes are. Everyone likes different things. Someone's idea of a cool modification may not be my idea of a cool modification. Or yours. Understand?
you can do wat you want with it wipe your ass with it for all we care haha

Guys I LOVE this site, it is so exciting to know that you can achieve so many things like rooting yourself etc...
My dilemma starts from the fact that I have Samsung Galaxy S3 internatinal verions phone, with already 4.1.1 version and baseband of I9300XXLDID, this baseband you do not come across much like if you want to root, and my fear is that now the Kies is giving update for version 4.1.2 12.11.02.01 but being cautious I am not doing it (my device is rooted but it updates, when you close Kies and leave the small window).
Once updated I will need to root it again but am not finding enough information or help here, even smasung toolbox V6 proposed here does not have any 4.1.2 rooting choice! I searched for online update but I am not sure which package of PDA or PSA to choose.
So do please advise me what to do and how to go about it to have a safe firmware upgrade and not to loose root previledges.
Thank you

Connect Phone to Computer
Click PDA and select the CFROOT file
Press Flash and Voila
Rooting the device and installing a custom ROM are in no way related. You may install a ROM when you wish to do so.
Regarding rooting, there are numerous methods, though I suggest mskip's Toolkit(http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1703488). The simplest and most efficient solution.
Its really a question of reading the faqs and guides until you understand .
The risks of a brick or a problem are then almost non existent .
Read first flash last .

+1 for Toolkit.
Good day, everybody!
I've seen that there are here many great experts in this domain, so that I would like, with your permission, to ask why SG S3 has to be factory unlocked before rooting? All the guides provided on pages I've found on internet specify that (as a newbie, I only can assume that factory locked means that the device is working only on a specific mobile carrier, which is applicable in my case).
I also want to get a newer stock version of Android, and I dont't know if the latest is 4.1.2 or 4.2; maybe you can tell me.
From what I've read, in order to do so, I firstly have to root my phone, using a method for the specific kernel I have (XXDLJ4), and then install the software, using clockworkmod and the stock Android kitt. If I've understood it completly wrong, please let me know.
I can figure that you have been hearing this kind of questions over and over in your life, and I understand you perfectly, but I wouldn't be coming here I didn't you're the best.
The AP of my device is 9300XXDLJ4 with CP I9300BVDLI1.
Many thanks for your patience and time,
Cristi

Which means that I only can install 4.1.2? If so, which is the name of it? Does it have be "compatible" with my device?
I forgot to mention that my build number is JRO03C.I9300XXDLJ4.
You really think THIS is the place for questions? What made you miss the QA forum?

You should start by reading the FAQS and Guides .
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1927113

You should ask in the Q&A section, but as you are at it, you will find this interesting , as it has all the infos you are searching for :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1674286
Now just read learn and learn again, if you have a device you want to root, just learn how it works, don't wait for anyone to teach you, learn from your mistakes, and confugure your device the way you wanna use it .

AS you post above shows lack of basic knowledge .
Please read the basics before flashing all stickied faqs and guides .
Is it worth it your choice suggest you actually take time to read the rom thread and decide .

ok i will
thanks for your relpy !!!
I've been using the 4.3 Wanam version with Yank custom kernel, as the official version IMO is not production quality yet.
If you just want a normal upgrade through OTA or Kies, my advice would be to wait as the current 4.1.2 stock firmware is very solid.

You lack basic knowledge and therefore in greater risk of bricking your phone .
If you are a experienced flasher you should know better than to ignore the basics .
Your choice your brick .
