Usually, I realize there are at least 2 types of help system which most Android apps provide.
- Native about box, with sentence by sentence explanation.
- A menu click, will bring up a new browser, which direct user to FAQ website.
May I know, which help system, you guys think Android users prefer most? I can see there are pro n con for each system.
Native about box - Highly integrated with the app, which users will feel it is part of the app. The bad is, whenever you change the content of help, you need to make yet another new release.
Popup new browser to FAQ website - Not highly integrated with the app, which users will feel it is not part of the app. The good is, you can always update the content of help, without making yet another new release.
May I know which methods is better? Google seems doesn't talk on this more.

Personally i prefer the first as i think its more intuitive and more integrated with the app itself.
Hi, i'm developing an android application, and i need to use a online database to insert and view some data.
I search around the web to find something, and i tried REST and SOAP but i can't do it work for me.
What can i use? There are some online database host that support the REST service that i can use? or another way to do it?
Thanks

Hello,
Just wondering whether anyone had any ideas on this.
I use a PC at work all day but quite often want to use GTalk to chat to people. Unfortunately my company blocks it so I can't use a browser to chat but obviously I can through my phone.
I used to have an HTC Desire that was rooted so that allowed me to use droidvnc to connect to my phone from my PC via vncviewer using USB(There's no wifi here).
It then meant I could type on my keyboard which makes things a whole lot easier when you're in the middle of something.
Basically now I've gone to an HTC One X I'm just wondering whether there's any app or anything that would let me do the same thing but without rooting the device as I don't want to invalidate any warranties just yet.
So in summary I'm really after a bit of software to let me remote control my phone via USB for the purpose of using GTalk or any other ideas anyone might have to get round it
Thanks

Hello Everyone,
Let me start out by saying if this is the wrong forum please feel free to relocate this post.
I have a general question about fixing a broken Android App. SkyWatcher USA makes an app for Android for the Astronomy buffs. Many of the telescope manufacturers use a controller called SynScan that allows "Go-To" operation of the telescope mount. Many also have either built-in WiFi or sell an adapter that allows you to "tether" your scope to your Android device. This allows many 3rd party planetarium apps to control the scope's computerized mount. SkyWatcher's app is called SynScan Pro.
One of the app's features is getting GPS location data from the device. Since the introduction of Android 12 that feature is broken. I was thinking I've been waiting for months for an update that will restore the ability to use the location sensor in my device but it isn't available yet. Currently if you enable use of the location sensor the app crashes.
My question is how does one with little app building experience find good info on how to fix this broken function and bring the app up to Android 12.
Thanks
