Battery Review #3 - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note I717

http://www.ebay.com/itm/140714901409?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649
Recently purchased this battery on eBay and it arrived couple of days ago. Over all looks and feels like OEM but based on price, there is good chance that this is NOT Samsung OEM battery. Let see how it performs.
Will post a review in few days
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using Xparent Blue Tapatalk

Hopefully it is actually an oem as it claims. If so that is a great price! I personally am waiting for a real extended battery to hit the market.

Just cut the label off... Seems like the other batteries will shoe the real mah benwath it
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using XDA

I honestly doubt its Samsung OEM. Most Samsung OEM are $25+. My main concern is the quality of the battery and how it holds up.
Here us quick update. After drainning the battery, I fully charged it and put the battery on my phone today. It lasted approximately 10 hrs on moderate-heavy use. I would say more on heavy use side. Over all, it held pretty well but its too early to tell and I need to recycle the battery few times to see the full potintial.
Here is the battery stats.

I would say at least 3 hrs+ but not for sure. I was using Amazon and ebay a lot along with long phone calls today

Ill post the screen time also on next round.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using Xparent Blue Tapatalk

Quick update.
This battery seems good. Its pretty decent quality so far.
I had 11hrs 53 min of use on light to moderate use with 1hr 52min of screen time. The only thing in this review is that I had less talk time and played LDungeon for about 10 min which takes lots of battery power.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using Xparent Blue Tapatalk

Can you tell us how much it weighs? The Samsung batt that came with the phone weighs 50 grams. Hyperion and QCell weigh about 40 grams and are only really about 1700mah.

Unfortunately I can't. I don't have any scale that can measure batteries.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using Xparent Blue Tapatalk

Based on this thread, this battery might be Samsung OEM battery. It has all the right markings. The only thing I can't be sure is the weight. We'll see.

Update.
So far the battery has performed well however, I feel that this battery's performance is tad less than OEM that came with the phone. I can't be sure . Maybe its just psychological.

So my question is does anyone has the extended battery for HTC Thunderbolt if yes, any pics? lol, I mean the EVO has the battery in the middle but this one looks more like in the top so I wonder how it looks?
I didn't put this on the other sub forum cause I feel is more like a question then anything else , thanks

Sorry that thing is huge, wouldnt be me.
Well guys I got it anyways it feels like it has more grip on TB and definitely no extra chargers to carry

Working great so far after full charge 54% left and done with work , I wish it would work like that with stock battery lol
Sent from my ADR6400L using Tapatalk
It's weird...I get get 3 days on my extended battery...but only 1 day on my normal battery. Isn't the larger battery around 2800mAh and the stocker is 1400?

Is that with everyday use? call/text/web/messaging. I had one on my Inc and it would only last about 2 days, and then gradually got worse, I popped my old battery in and got 1.5 days out of a charge with everyday use and I still use it and the battery hasn't changed.

I feel bad

That our phone doesn't have this good of battery life. Even without ANY use. This was my old captivate.

I'm getting 2-3% drain per hour with moderate use and about 1% per hour when idle. I'll take it.
I guess the battery isn't that bad...
The guy who got that result probably is using an extended battery, has barely any apps and no syncing
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I777
I've had no quarrels with the battery life on the phone. Then again it's regularly on the charger but the battery drain isn't bad at all. Listening to music with the screen off only drains 3-4% an hour.
I feel bad because it doesn't have an fm radio
Those ridiculous screen shots are not practical. Sure I can disable everything, freeze apps with tibu, then leave my phone alone for a few days, but this is a phone. On heavy days of use it easily outlasts the captivate.

+1 Meaningless example(op). It's a phone, you use it for a variety of tasks. Standby time on my GS2 is worlds better than my captivate ever was.
If you feel that bad, go back to the captivate
Edit: Off topic @jivy we have almost identical post count and same join date.........sorta eerie and weird........to bad my thanks suck compared to yours lol(just happened to notice this) haha
Hijack intended
I get far better battery life on my S2 than I did with my captivate. Guess results vary.

Same here. Show me screen time usage comparisons not when its collecting dust.
Throw an I777 into airplane mode and you'll easily beat that.
I think if I turn my SGS2 off and lay it there for 200 hours, it probably still has 50% left when I first turn it back on. Let me capture that and compare.

I easily get 50% more battery out of this phone than my captivate. With a bigger screen, and more than twice the processing power I can live with a 50% increase and call it good.

High cpu usage for device idle and android.process.acore

I have some really weird issues.
I left my s3 in plane mode and charged overnight. In the morning, I unplug and left for work. After an hour, I noticed a battery drain where the device idle is using 74% and from betterbatterystats shows netd is using nearly 100%.
I switched off and only on it after work and now I noticed a high usage for android.process.acore.
Anyone experienced this as well? What can I do to resolve this?
Sent from my GT-I9300 using Xparent ICS Blue Tapatalk 2
Screen shots please.
Also if your phone is idle in airplane mode then phone idle will obviously be the biggest consumer of battery.

This is what I was saying. Charged and in plane mode. Plane mode for 8 hours and drop 8%. Is this normal? I thought plane mode should not drop so much?

That's normal. I was concerned at first, now I don't even charged my phone sometime for 3 days
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
In better battery stats you need to be looking at kernel wakelocks and more importantly partial wakelocks. Process shows absolutely nothing wrong or out of the ordinary.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
icic... thanks everyone... I thought something was wrong.. as in flight mode, usually the battery life will not drop so much.. so I'm rather concern is there something that's causing the drain.

Put up screenshots of partial wakelocks and kernel wakelocks so we can have a look.
8% does seem kinda high for airplane mode, mine drops about that on wifi with all sync on over the same amount of time.

3.7 versus 3.8 volt batteries

So a guy at my work wants to sell me his battery from his dead rezound but it is a 3.7 volt battery mine is a 3.8 I remember reading something a long time ago about 3.7 volt batteries . Will it work without issues? Will verizon exchange it for 3.8?

3.7 runs cooler than the 3.8.... people were trading in their 3.8s for 3.7s
On gingerbread the 3.8 got much better life than the 3.7, on ICS it's about the same
Back in the early days of ICS for us, the 3.7v batteries (I believe) wouldn't charge past about like 87 ish percent while the phone was on, but the 3.8v would charge fully. We don't have that issue now though, there's no real difference anymore.
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using XDA Premium.
I've both. The 3.7 barely holds a charge for me, takes only two hours of screen on time to kill the battery and that's on wifi so go figure...
My 3.7 on the other hand..

gotta love technology these days...
Usually around 30mb/s down and 15mb/s up, sometimes gets random tests at 50mb up but not often.... Remember 2400 baud lol, i use to wait forever to do anything online but it was worth the wait, now i freak out if a web page doesn't load in 2 seconds.
Right around 20 m down for the most in my area, 10 m or so up.

I used to get 50-60 sitting in the exact spot I'm sitting now on my htc rezound. Now with my s4 I get about 12 down and 4 up. It really sucks that this great phone has to have the absolute worst reception in the history of cell phones. Maybe I got a crappy one :banghead:
