Hey everyone,
It seems as though every time I exit the browser while a page is loaded and I open a few other apps, the browser always reloads. I was wondering if there was an app that keeps the page saved even after you open several other apps in the background. I've seen this type of things in various apps such as GTA 3 (It's always running in memory so you can always go back to the exact same state as you were 10 minutes ago) and N64oid (same thing - you can always go back to the same state as you were even after opening numerous apps)
Thanks,
Mosh

When the vibrant first came out, the first thing that caught my attention was no matter how many apps I was running, they were going to be there waiting (in memory) for me to come back, multitasking at its best. This happened especially with the web browser. If you were browsing the web and needed to grab something from another app, take call or message; once back in the browser, everything was there in the same place (and up to 8 tabs/windows). My previous phone was the Mytouch 3g, which needed to reload all tabs when back into the browser, or even worse, just the home page.
After the froyo update was released (I not sure if this happened as well on the update that supposedly fixed the gps back on October), all apps started to be killed by the system after you switch from them even for a few seconds. This is especially annoying in the web browser. No matter how long you are away from the browser, once back all tabs/windows start reloading. I know that at this point all task-killer-lovers would say why I am complaining about this. Basically is that I would love to decide which app stays and which app goes. I know that if you leave an app running for a long time, the system would kill it eventually when in need of resources, but that doesn’t mean leaving the browser for 2 seconds and everything starts to reload.
I have tried dolphin and opera with the same result. This has happen to me when running the stock froyo update from Tmobile, Nero V, Axura 2.2.7 & 8, Ginger Clone Final and Bionix V 1.2.1. I have tried without any luck killing the task manager process, remove the jobmanager.apk and even used other task killers to see if the ignore list feature had some effect.
Searching the web for an answer only shows a few posts about this, everybody since to like the app-killing way or thinks is not a problem for what it’s worth.
A note about the app-killing term, I don’t know if what is happening in my system is actually the app being terminated. I say this because it doesn’t show on the native task manager, but once you go back to the browser or apps like Google reader usually the page is there, of course, after all reloading is done (time, time and more time) and the information you were trying to fill out or the news you were reading is gone.
Ive been trying out numerous web browsers and am finding that every time I go back to the home screen to do whatever and then decide to open up my browser again, its opening up a new tab every time. I press the home button to go back to my desktop if that helps any. Im finding I have about 10 tabs open. It never used to do this, and want to know how to get it to stop. Every browser I have tried recently does this. Im not rooted and just running the regular rom.
Im also noticing when I use the stock browser it always refreshes every time I open it.

Click to collapse
Go to browser settings and there is an option called "open in background" it needs to be UNCHECKED
Open browser-hit menu key-scroll down to settings-scroll down to "open in background"
It is unchecked. But im still getting new tabs popping up every time I open a browser.
All of the browsers I use are opening up a new tab every time I go to use them. Plus, the regular stock browser keeps refreshing every time i open it. this all started this morning.
any ideas?

I had the problem.
The problem was the enabled option "SiteAdvisor" in McAfee Mobile Security.
menu..settings...applications..manage applications...find browser..clear cache and force stop. try that
I have an Acer Iconia Tab A200 running a stock 4.0.3 ROM - the latest (and perhaps final) Android version for the model. In recent months, the core Google Apps (and several other programs, but nowhere near as regularly) have become frustratingly prone to freezing/crashing on a regular basis, and often in response to basic, repeatable user interaction.
Calendar, for example, frequently displays a black screen when I try to create an new event, although I can exit to my launcher at will. It will sometimes freeze when I'm swiping from one week to view another, and even the virtual Home button doesn't respond for a while.
Google Play will crash, almost without fail, when I initiate three or four app updates after checking each of their store pages for a list of changes. All Play Store downloads cease and I'm dropped back to my launcher. On occasion, it, too, freezes completely, and I cannot quit to my launcher, forcing a hard power off.
Maps has a tendency to suddenly freeze if I scroll around the area for a few minutes. If it does, it becomes unresponsive for a few seconds before closing and dropping me to my launcher.
Google+ will freeze midway through scrolling down posts, and it usually remains stuck for around 30 to 90 seconds. No part of the screen will respond during this time.
Does anyone have any ideas as to what may be causing this behavior, or any suggestions for a fix to try?
Hi guys,
I've been having the same problem on both of my android devices (N7 and HTC One M7).
Basically its like this:
In Chrome I would open 3 or more tabs at the same time. Then I would start reading the first tab. When I'm done I would close the tab and continue on to read the second tab. Yet when I try to open the second (or third tab) Chrome would reload the web pages again causing massive delay as I am only on a 1 mbps DSL line shared by 3 people. If I go back and forth between 2 or 3 tabs, my HTC One would keep reloading the pages though I'm not sure whether it is reading from the NAND or asking for a fresh page from the ISP.
I'm thinking this is Android default behaviour to conserve memory.
In any case, is there a way to make Chrome more aggresive in using the RAM as cache (stop putting the web page in NAND swap) and less OCD at having to have the very latest web page (stop re-downloading every 2 minutes if I change tabs) ?
I just want to be able to switch tabs freely as I do in desktop.
*** I have no choice than to beg for help. So please please please help me. ***
So I'm going to tell you girls/guys the whole story. It's going to be a long one, so bear with me. I just didn't wanted to leave any info.
I've been using MIUI for a long while, in the beginning it was all great. But as I started installing more & more apps, I started having issues/lags while playing games. Then there is MIUI's ram management issue, i.e. If I had to run a heavy game/app, I had to clear out RAM(you know the special feature in MIUI). Other than I had network issues. For ex : Whenever I played PR Legacy Wars(internet intensive game), I suffered from a lot of LAG. And Tekken(officially by Bandai Namco on Play Store) also, Force closed once or twice.
So to fix all this, I decided to go with a Custom ROM, basically because of the RAM Management issue.
First I started using CM 14.1. In the beginning the results were good. Like the internet problem was fixed to 100%, PR ran nearly perfect. Other than that there was no RAM issues. But as I started installing more apps, I started having crashes. First it happened with HQ Trivia, then with C.A.T.S. & PR Legacy Wars.
What happened to each app individually :-
HQ Trivia - Every time I play a live game, the app would crash multiple times given that I tap on ''wait'' and phone keeps on processing the app, when I get the message "App stopped working".
C.A.T.S. - This is neither a graphic nor internet intensive game, but still when I was typing something in group chat, the whole system crashed, the phone rebooted from the Boot Animation not from MI logo.
PR Legacy Wars - This game is a bit graphic intensive & internet intensive for sure. Same like when I was typing something in group chat, the same thing happened as mentioned above. Keep in mind that crash should've happened when there was more load on phone like during a battle.
And some very heavy crashes. Like when I try to switch accounts between guest & usual, the system crashed so hard, that I couldn't use it, Not even the hard buttons, like power button won't even turn the screen on. The vibration motor started spinning and wouldn't stop. I literally have to open the phone and disconnect the battery cable.
So having no choice, I installed NOS N, but I haven't tried the account feature in it, in fear of what happened earlier to CM 14.1, As I was able to recover through that heavy crash 3-4 times, but I guess it was the 5th time, I wasn't able to get into the system and lost all data. Why I feared? Cause I'm having similar issues as in CM 14.1, not all of them but similar.
SO after installing NOS N, these are the issues I'm having :-
HQ Trivia - Same app crashing while playing live games.
Sonic Forces - Whenever I watch an AD, if it's longer than like 5 or 10 seconds, app would crash & restart. If it's small or interactive or even non-interactive, if I keep tapping on the screen, app doesn't crashes, otherwise it does.
Twitter - Kept crashing(first installed through TiBa). Issue fixed after I installed it through Play Store.
YouTube - Force closed once or twice. Sometimes when I'm watching a video, when I press back then tap on Home/Trending etc it shows white blank.
Games - If music is playing in background, whenever I exit the app, at the end, the sound kinda gets laggy/screechy.
It's not been that long since I've been using NOS N. And I didn't do any hard testing especially that account feature. So the whole OS hasn't crashed yet. But still these issues hurt in long term, especially the HQ problem. Also all these apps were first installed through TiBa backup, then I installed them through Play Store, so that there's no compatibility issue.
As this OS has a feature to kill apps by holding back button. If sometimes I have lag in PR Legacy Wars, it get fixed by killing & opening it again.
What do I need from you guys?
To tell me if this a hardware or software related problem. I can create some report or log, so you could help me better. Just tell me how to do it? Meanwhile I'll try installing other OSs.
PS: I may not reply immediately, but I will reply.
