I love my hp touchpad, just installed CM9 alpha 2 (dual boot w/ webos) and everything was perfect, unfortunately it got some hardware issues(defective) so I have to send it back to HP for RMA. How can I accomplish this?.

Use ACMEUninstaller from the Rootzwiki post to uninstall Android and then do a Secure Full Erase (under device info in webOS).
That's the fast way. The other way to do it is to read the thread posted http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1426244 to do a complete factory restore - this gets rid of EVERYTHING at the partition-table level for you. It's a little slower, but it's as thorough, if not more so.

I downloaded the files from the thread in the development forum http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=951822. I tried doing the steps listed in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=865245 and could not get it to work. When I rebooted the Gtab, it would just hang at the Viewsonic bird screen for about 15-20 minutes. I tried a few times and the same thing happens each time. I then used the stock 3588.zip to go back to the stock rom and the Gtab booted fine. I have since followed the online video to install tnt lite 4.2 and I substituted in 4.4 but I was successful in making this work and the Gtab booted just fine into TNT lite 4.4. Can anyone explain to me why I am having problems with Vegan tab? Or at least maybe someone could walk me through the steps..
Thanks!

Yup same thing happened to me. Vegan 5.1x works and none of the gingerbread ones.
I repartitioned 2048/0
Reformat tool
reinstalled stock
Did above without reinstalling stock
My original tab works great for the gingerbread roms, while the woot batch does not. (have had 2 cross my desk so far, we bought a lot of them for work purposes)
It's not horrible because vegan 5.1.1 works and that is fine.
Asop (both variants) don't work
vegan gingerbread experimental doesn't work
CM7 RC 3 + RC4
they all hang during the viewsonic birds screen.
The only thing I have not tried, is not using the update method for installing CW .8 bekit, but trying the old nvflash method instead.
So I may break that out and give it a whirl in a bit... But this one has me baffled. Prolly need someone with higher android IQ

Thanks for the response. I talked with my brother who also bought from the woot sale just like myself and you and he successfully put the vegan gingeredition experimental on his. He was walking me through it the way he did it and it hung for me at the viewsonic screen but his works just fine... Kind of weird I think. Anyone have any options or instructions for us?
I just installed Vegan-Tab 5.1 beta with the supplement and it worked fine. I am up and running with zero problems. I am still stumped on why the Vegan Tab ginger edition experimental will not work. It just sits at the Viewsonic screen. Anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks

Well here is another one to add to the mystery.
Networking guy came in just now cause stock was FC on installation screen. So I used the sd card cw install.
Partitioned to get rid of FC
mounted as USB in CW
added rom + kernel + gapps
flashed all 3 of them
Bingo - tablet booted up...
now I am really scratching my head.
Tried gingerbread asop + gapps + pershot booted the first try.....
So 2 tablets no gingerbread love 3rd tablet installed perfectly the first time.
I got one of the woot batch and am running the vegan experimental without an issue.
Actually, one issue I've found is that once i activated airplane mode it greys out the option so you can't turn it off. I can go into settings and enable the wireless, but the airplane icon becomes a permanent fixture in the notification bar.

Im pretty sure its the bootloader at this point. Need to update to 3588 (first before putting on CW .8) I'm thinking that the gingerbread roms just don't run on 33xx though they work perfectly on the original bootloader.
Will see if I can find a volunteer today to test this on (been just pushing 5.1.1 since it worked on all the tablets).
I think Roebeet has a package that updates to 3588s bootloader so will give that a whirl today.

I have had the same issue. Got my GTab from woot installed Vegan 5.1.1 and it is running great. I've tried just about every gingerbread rom and it always hangs up on the viewsonic screen.
I did find this post but haven't tried it yet. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1015286&page=2

after much experimentation, It's the internal cw package. If you use the sd card method or use NV flash gingerbread installs just fine.
*shrug*
No I have no Idea why either....
Forgive me if missed this, but I'm finally getting mine from HP tomorrow, and I think I'll hold off on CM until some of the major bugs are worked out, but I still want to play with WebOS.

Sent from my Droid Bionic.
You can still install the cyanogen mod alpha with the update, it doesn't change anything as far as that goes. If you have the alpha installed already, you'll have to rerun the command to install it again, but it still works with the update.
You will have to install only moboot not everything.
Update first and then install CM7. I did this and can confirm that it works.

+1 ... Just did a co-workers TouchPad today and CM7 installed smoothly.
Side note: 3.0.4 is in fact really "snappy", I like the updated camera app and no lag on the stock kernal.
I'm currently on UnNamed 2.2.1 with the 2.3.6 OTA Update (of course) UCKK6.
I would like to roll back to UnNamed 1.3.2 and the Original 2.3.4 / UCKH7.
All the searching and reading of posts has me in an easiest method tailspin.
I have a JIG so no worries on the flash count (I think this still works on 2.3.4).
I have mobil odin installed as well as root, superuser, CWM.
Am I just stressin, or can I just install "update-unnamed-v1.3.2-full.zip" via CWM?
Will I need a full wipe / App Reload?
I'm just trying to regain my bluetooth keyboard functionality. Mandatory for my travels. Battery improvements would be a bonus.

Yup, just wipe and flash.
You guys are the best!
Hoping to avoid the wipe, but 2 wipes and a plus = I'm gonna wipe!
Cheers!!!
I'm also trying to prevent the loading of the 2.3.6 OTA updated.
I thought this was a diagonal double arrow icon but I do not see it anymore.
Also not seeing Device Manager as referenced in similar posts.
Anyone have a sure fire way to stay on 2.3.4 (at least until ICS).
Happily back to 2.3.4 and about to test my mini bluetooth keyboard.

It won't update if device management has been removed. I believe GTG removed it a while ago.
On an unrelated note, how do you like your Tab 10.1? I'm about to pick one up.
Mostly the kids machine.
2yrs,5yrs,11yrs old.
Dropped on several occasions without a case and still running strong.
I guess the fingerprints on the screen don't bug anyone but me.
The 2 & 5 year old boys I could understand, but the 11yo girl????
We need a new tub of screen wipes I guess.
The screen is significantly slower than the SGS2, but otherwise no issues at all with the wi-fi only version. Kids are watching netflix with it all the time.

I was wondering why I couldn't find it. Great news. Now I feel safe proceeding with the full app(s) rebuild.
YEEEEE HAAAAA
My Bluetooth Keyboard is Back!
Arrow Keys, Backspace, Right and left mouse buttons and a real live mouse cursor!
As far as Tab 10.1 - I love mine. Task650's ROM is great.
Which reminds me, I need to backup, wipe, and update. I'm on an ancient version of it.

Hey Simba just wondering, is there any reason you're using 1.3.1 instead of 1.3.2? Is it just b/c theres nothing significantly new in 1.3.2?

Right. 1.3.2 only removed a couple of unnecessary lib files if I remember correctly. It also deleted some ringtones/notifications. I never officially went to it (I may have wanted those tones or something idk lol). I just deleted the lib files myself.
I'm running UCKH7 Stock Rooted and Entropy512 DD and would like to try UnNamed 1.3.2, but the download link is no longer working. Can someone send me a copy of the file?
Thanks
Been installing custom ROMs on my devices since the Vibrant days. Currently running JB on my Galaxy S2 and it runs flawlessly.
Is there a way to run a single ROM on my new HP Touchpad 16GB? I tasted the dual boot WebOS/Android in the past and was not a fan. I would like to just have CWR (like on my T989) and install Android ROMs. Any drawbacks? I have no interest in running WebOS or any other OS other than Android.
Just ran a secure erase and waiting to flash!

A little OT since I'm not speaking to whether single boot is possible or how to do it. But I have had to boot into WebOS a couple times to fix problems with my Android partition and so I would recommend keeping WebOS around. It doesn't really bother you; you can set moboot to boot Android by default without a timeout. And there's still plenty of space for Android apps.
Example: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1937109.

+1 Word! lol. I just had to do that today due to something going haywire when I tried to do a restore. Thank goodness.
WebOS cannot be removed from the touchpad. It would be nice though.
What you can do is change moboot to boot into android by default:

Hello folks, impressive new look (haven't been around for a while now),
My original Nexus4 runs PA 4.6-BETA4 but I smashed the screen and the new screen is low quality plus the frame around is not looking decent anymore. Therefore I got the Nexus4 of a friend which upgraded to Nexus5 because it is in mint condition. I unlocked and rooted today then I flashed ClockworkMod Recovery v6.0.2.3.
After the backup I attempted to install either
pa_mako-4.4-RC1-20140611 or
pa_mako-4.6-BETA4-20141007
after wiping the data/factory reset and wiping the cache partition.
I keep getting an error after starting the flashing procedure. I used the backup to go back to what it was on the phone previously which is;
Android 4.4.4
M9615A-CEFWMAZM-2.0.1701.03
Kern: 3.4.0-perf-ga6edd5e
Build: KTU84P
Can anyone tell me what I did wrong please? Thank you!

You should upgrade the recovery. 6.0.2.3 is a little older. They're up to 6.0.4.9 or even higher now, not sure off the top of my head as I prefer TWRP.
Will try this, thanks!
It worked! Thank you dear Es, have a beer or two mate!

:good::highfive::victory:
If you're curious as to why it happened, I believe it's because the "older" recoveries lacked proper SELinux support needed to install newer KK roms.

I have another question if you don't mind, looking at both devices now and they have the same documents and music on them I find intriguing that my old Nexus4 has 849MB free while the new one has 8.46GB free. Can you suggest a way of getting rid of the unwanted hidden files (could be backups)?
Much appreciated,
Chris

Just copy what you want off the phone to the PC and then use CWM to format the internal storage and then reboot and copy back the files. This will give you a clean slate to work with.
BTW - I just installed the unofficial Paranoid 5 on my Nexus 4 - Mostly AOSP but running very smooth me like looooooong time
