If Apps to sd does what it says, then does it mean that whenever we flash a new ROM we don't have tto restore the ones on tthe sd card?

How would your new rom know they are there if it wasn't installed in it? You would still need tb to reinstall them
Quick question i download the gingerblur rom along the hulu and webtop mods. After i flash them and install them do i need to keep them on my internal storage or can i delete them.
You can delete them safely.
Yes you can delete

When developing kernels for this device, if you make a "bad" kernel, does the 8 restart method restore the original kernel?

Need more informations...
Where is your new kernel? on sd card or internal emmc? Did you use CWM?
Good question. Say if its on the device and/or on the sdcard. I would presume the sdcard would be a quick fix. On the device I guess would be the real ????.
And I guess it would have to be CWM.

If you have CWM installed, make a backup of the system and if something goes wrong restore it.
I am using the touch recovery and I am trying to flash a ROM but when I boot into recovery the zip file isn't showing anywhere.?!

What I do is create a file on the s/d card. I name it +Flash. Then whenever I download anything to flash .. It goes into that file.
When you go into recovery and look at your files .. the + makes it be the first file. Makes it easy to find.
Hope this helps.

Thanks but the issue is that the zip file isn't showing I know where the file is stored but for some reason it's not showing for me to zip? I see the file when I look for it but when I go into recovery the zip file can't be found anywhere?

What file path do you have it saved to? Internal or External?

You most likely have placed it on the external sd card. Check. If so, move it to internal.

Is this a new thing? I used to always put zips on my external and flash from there. Now mine is similar to the OP. Some roms I put on my external and CWM sees them no problem. Other times the folder is empty. If I go in and move the file back to the internal it shows right up. It was nice being able to dump the roms on the external which has more space than internal.

I have always used the internal. I use TWRP recovery. You can select internal or external sd card to view when flashing.
Before when using cwm, I never had to worry. Placed everything on internal and it was just there when I was ready to flash. You could always use a file app to move older roms
To your external to save space. Take a look at TWRP. Its very quick for Nandroid backups.

I second using TWRP; best Recovery program, imo. I had a few problems with CWM (even Touch version) back when I started flashing ROMs, but no problems with TWRP.
There's also an issue with the External SD listing coming up under the root emmc folder, rather than under Internal; can always check there for missing files stored on your External SD.

And, agreed, the XDA community is awesome! :highfive:
After trying cm10.2 I decided to go back to ICS, it appears that I now have two lots of directories some in root and others in 0 directory.
Is there a way I can use Odin to reformat and put all back in its place? Di I need a PID file to repartition back to ICS partitions.

No, your SD card is messed up due to the jb 4.2+ file system. If you don't wanna waste time moving them to the correct places, backup what you need to your computer and format your SD card in cwm recovery. If you do not want to format, then move all your files out of the /0 folder to /data/media(which is the SD card partition), i.e. /data/media/0/blabla to /data/media/blabla.

Thannks for your help. I ended up formating all, using Odin to reflash stock, reinstalled root and cwm then used my previus backup.
Thanks for your quick response.
