Any help with CWM recovery port to MyTouch Q? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello all,
I have been working on trying to port Clockworkmod Recovery to my LG MyTouch Q for quite some time. I have been using the forum over at http://androidforums.com/mytouch-q-...rk-progress-porting-custom-recovery-over.html because it is very sparse. There is a current thread for e739/c800, but is jammed with e739 info (an actual dev is working with it, no dev for c800).
I am making this post to see if anyone is willing to help me out as I have hit a wall. Basically everything is listed on that post about what i've done and where i'm at. If I can't get this working I'm just going to give up because I can't figure out what I haven't gotten and am running out of time in the day to work on it.
NOTE: I do thank everyone that has contributed so far.

This needs a bump. This phone has been left in the dust while the LG MyTouch has been getting ROMs. Same phone (specs wise) except for smaller screen size and a physical keyboard

[Q] ROM Sub Forum

Is there any way we can get a sub forum for the current ROMs being built? The developers sub forum is a little messy to sort through. Does anyone else feel the same way? I think a sub forum with just ROMs would be great.
No. You'll never know how hard it was to get this one to try to help you folks.

[Q] Clockworkmod for Kyocera Echo?

I was just wondering if any clockworkmod releases are compatible with the Kyocera Echo or not. I'd imagine since it's a boot ROM, that there should be at least one that would work since it doesn't require many phone specific specs. (At least to my knowledge.)
Please let me know if you know of any. =)
Shameless Bump
I'll bump this again, because I'd love to see one as well!
I'd love to see this as well.
DITTO! I will love to see some Echo love as well
bumping another Echo thread.
A bump again... something to help the Echo users....
we are trying to get the Echo community together from various forums and other places in order to find a way to get root for this device man! Please come and join, its absolutely free! and its for ppl like you guys that want to get the most out of your echo! We are constantly working, I am flashing different phone's recoveries like wild trying to see if one will work on the echo (this is like walking over a cliff because it could brick my device, which shows you how committed I am to this) Like I said we are all trying to get to an ultimate goal, and XDA doesnt take us seriously (not bashing XDA, because I love this site man) So head on over to Hear the Echo, sign up, do forum posts, and get our name out there!
P.S. - We are in need of donations (trying to get a lot more bandwidth for more users and lose the ".webs" piece to the site name) so if you want to buy me a phone case lol, we welcome them 100% of the way!
Thanks for the support,
Ognimnella
As of now at heartheecho.webs.com we have CWM working with roms in progress head over now!

Devs needed, for porting ics4.0 to samsung galaxy fit s5670

Hi everyone,
I am a galaxy fit s5670 user, running android 2.3.4
Unfortunately, samsung won't be officially releasing ics for my device...
But the whole of galaxy fit users on xda are really hoping that some devs would try and port this for our device...we had personally contacted a lot of devs for this, but none seem to be up for the challenge...
Another phone, samsung galaxy min s5570, which comes really close to our device in terms of hardware has devs attempting it, but the few devs we have for our device are busy due to their own reasons...
So, I want to ask all the knowledgeable devs out there, can you PLEASE port this for our device???
You will also find many testers for your alpha and beta version of the rom, who would readily take the risk, and give you feedback/bug reports also...
Also, even if you can just port some other roms, that would also be appreciated...
Head on over to the device forum and make an announcement, if you are willing to attempt this poet!!!
Help in making android an enjoyable experience for all...merry christmas, in advance

Sorry didn't know about that...thought that it should come under software development coz we needed devs...so thank you for moving it to the correct sub-forum...
Umm, on a different note, are you a dev???
And, ppl have started trying to port ics to my device...but still others are encouraged to make/port roms for this device...
m with you
Just look at the overwhelming positive response that this thread has received so far...

[Q] Looking for a Freelancer

Hi there,
Noob here...
I bought myself a Galaxy Note with the hope of being able to use it and it's Stylus to help me with my day to day work. Unfortunately there is no app currently out there that does what I want so I tried to create my own. Being a noob, and being pathologically averse to actual coding all I managed to do was find an online CMS system that allowed me to get a bare bones version running. While it works, its not perfect, and I like perfect. So I'd like to find someone that is good with PDF creation type apps to create / finish off my little project.
Its a simple concept and I don't think will be very hard for someone that see's life like the matrix as most developers I know do... So is there anyone out there that freelances or has a couple of days free I can use to get my project finished??a
Thanks
DLF

Q&A Bot

I would like to direct this to the Moderators or any other higher ups that need to get involved.
This Q&A Bot thing is rediculous.
It is posting in seemingly every device for every rom. Stating to direct all questions in regard to a rom in Q&A sections in order to keep development from getting clogged up.
All its doing is clogging up Q&A.
I thought the concept was, if it is a question within regards to a specific rom, that's what the thread is for?
If it is a device specific question, then it goes to Q&A?
When you click to view Q&A Bot profile, it comes up invalid. Is this a new system generated thing to organize the threads better?
Not working. To me it is just as bad as having an ad pop up.
Honestly, I find myself wanting to come on here less. I come here in attempt to help others if I can. An attempt to return favors that others have done for me. What is the point of Q&A Bot to create a thread it cannot support or will not respond to?

The Q&A bot only comes into action when a new user tries posting in the development section. As you know, new users can't post in development threads. So the Q&A bot makes a new thread in the Q&A section so the new users post can be read.
I can see where xda thinks this is a way of getting newbies heard and keeping development threads clean. But when you boil it all down it actually creates clutter and disarray. Because after all isn't XDA a development site? Therefore all threads here are considered development threads in my opinion.
In my opinion only recognized developers should be able to post in development threads. All development posts should have links to respective Q&A threads. Leaving development threads clean of everything but the dev's posts. This way the dev can post tweaks, bugs and tips that are easily found without going thru 100's of posts to find solutions. The dev can monitor the Q&A thread and answer questions there. When a valid question arises the dev can answer it in the Q&A thread. Then make an update post in the development thread.
What do you think?
If only people with "RD" status can post in the dev section this device and a lot more others would be pretty boring to own. I agree with @captemo those threads are cluttering the place up and are a bit annoying, plus I thought there was a 10 post count rule that prevented new users to post in the dev section? is that rule no longer in place or something or is it being circumvented in some way? I get the point of those threads in order to help out new users get the advice they seek and all but honestly its seems like a lot of users now a days don't bother to read a few pages of a thread let alone use the search function , and want to be spoon fed. Not trying to be a d-bag or any thing like that but it gets a bit out of hand at times seeing the answer they seek is just usually a few pages back from the last one. OK my ranting is over lol....

i agree with some of what all you have said...but with that said.
our Q&A section is already a mess. The only one ive ever seen that wasnt is in the epic 4g touch forum, and thats because they had a member create a noob friendly support thread for all questions and roms. And the members, myself included, made sure questions were posted there and not just making a new thread for questions that have been asked and answered. It also allowed the more experienced members to have a place to help that was easy to find and point noobs in the right direction.
if you guys are interested in starting and supporting such a thread. i would look at the e4gt thread for ideas how to set it up...or u can look at the one i made and support in the galaxy tab 10.1 forum. Here is the Link to mine, as i cant seem to get a mod over there to sticky it.
These threads should give you all a nice idea about how a similar thread here would help, if used and a mod stickies it so it is always seen by new members.
as im soon departing this forum for a new device..i will not start such a thread. But will always stop in to help support it.
Have a great day,
Gil81 ( John )
