i know there have been other posts on it but i have yet to find a solution that works for me.
summery: im running cyanogenmod 7 nightly. i flashed a new radio and suddenly after turning my wifi on/off three times the phone stalls and then reboots.
i've tried the battery pull fix but that doesn't work.
I've even gone back to the old radio and still same problem.
thanks in advance for any response!
If you haven't find out already, that's a known issue with CM nightlies for some time. Ali ba said he doesn't have time now to fix it, maybe in a month or so. Check his last post in dev section, in the nightlies thread

yeah, same problem here. reboot solves it. also have this problem with nightlies and legend where some calls don't actually have audio unless you're on speaker. again, a reboot fixes the problem. such is life if you wanna be on the cutting edge.
Hey guys,
Just want to ask have anyone ever experience Sleep of Death(SOD) on your Ace?
SOD is that the phone goes into deep sleep or u can say it shuts down automatically when your screen is off for about 10 minutes...sometimes you must remount your battery only it will start up...its kinda annoying because you have to reboot 4 or 5 times a day!!!
I flashed my friend's stock rom from 2.3.4 xxkpn - 2.3.4 xxkph and rooted, deodexed, and have CodeRom v2x-2b flashed.
Everything goes nice and smooth...but the next day it goes SOD even so, i reflashed everything for 3 times but still things don't get solved.
But funny thing is i flashed my Ace with specification above everything is working superbly fine since the 1st day till now, but my friend's Ace goes SOD.
If there is anyone have experience on solving SOD don't mind sharing it??
because tried methods such as turning off wifi while screen is off and other methods posted on the internet but still won't work...thanks
yes, it's a common problem with SGA. for some people it happens everyday, for others it happens once a weak. you never know.
there are custom roms that dnt have this problem. right now i'm using GingerReal-2.0. it's very stable and fast.
oh...will try that ROM someday...but i'm still satisfied with my CodeRom
thanks bro.
SOD problem on SGA solved!!!
The cause of the 'SOD' is all because of the wifi when there is no connectivity or the phone is unable to connect. This has been tested for several times.
Just make sure to turn off the wifi when you are not in use and the 'SOD' problem will be solved.
The same for me
I'm also experiencing SODs with this smartphone. The Wi-Fi trick seems to help, but it is really unfriendly to the user. So, still waiting for a real fix.
There 2 other big threads wholly devoted to the problem:
- http://productforums.google.com/forum/#!category-topic/android-market/technical-help/c4ZuHYMGvkY.
Hi Guys,
Im no Genius when it comes to android, but I have done my fair share of programming before, but my SOD are killing me and a last resort is a warranty exchange as I cannot be without a phone.
So far I have been getting SOD about 5 times a day if not more, and I am one for tinkering with gadgets until i break or crash it, fix it and doing it all over again.
But anyway back on topic
I have noticed this in the build.prop
" persist.ril.mux.sleep=2 "
And so I wondered if this is causing my SOD, does anyone have any ideas regarding its uses?
Findings (as of 2155)
In my testing thus far I have changed it to "persist.ril.mux.sleep=1" using phone leaving it for an hour doing it over just for fun, And I have been SOD for 5 hours straight and haven't had any SOD or adverse battery drain
I mean this may not be the cause of the SOD for me, or anybody but I am up for trying just about anything
What is SOD?

Sorry, Sleep Of Death
I have SOD here too. To me it's only happens when I turned off a data connection (3G or wifi).
I use LoadMonitor app as a workaround for a while, with success.
At now I'm using Neutrino 2.5 CM7 ROM with success too. I think it's more a blur rom problem than cm7 one.
Let us know about your progress.
So if you disable load manager you would get SOD?
I am making a script to update a few things so far no SOD for me, after a few tweaks
What settings are you using on load manager ?
Any info you can give me will help in me tracking down some of the errors and temporary fixes people are using to avoid the dreaded issue
Oh, THAT's what that was!
I forgot to turn the wifi back on a few nights ago when I said "Hey, let's watch some movies on netflix with my super-duper mirroring-abled phone!" So an hour into it, LBE Privacy warns me I'm about to max out my data, and I go turn the damn wifi back on but turned OFF the 3G.
Then last night I go to wake up my phone and the screen is "black but on", & took a couple of tries to wake it. I'm on Nottachtrix.

I'm a bit confused here. I don't know what "load manager" is.
What a sad is I used LoadMonitor app (from market) as a workaround.
LoadMonitor just monitor taks that are running in your device. But it have an option that claims to prevent device deep sleep. So, when I checked this option my device don't get SOD.
It's a workaround, as I sad, and I don't know how LoadMonitor do that.
What is load manager?
Thanks
I had a similar issue, I installed SetCPU and set my minimum speed to ~456(faux 1.45 Kernel).
Never had the problem since.

I tried some roms and the only one I hadn't random reboots was jokersax11 alpha7 (ICI), now I'm on beta 0.2.0 and had reboots.
I'm having the same problem. I've tried 3 different ROMs. I used Nottachtrix, following the directions to the letter with reboots and hard locks. Recently I flashed back to 4.5.91 (w/pudding) and I was having the same issues. I noticed that on the hard locks, my phone appeared to be warm, so I used SetCPU at 216MHz and still had hard locks and random reboots. I've not set the lowest setting at 301 and so far I haven't had any reboots, but its only been about 5 hours. But I was having them at least once every few hours.
BTW - I also noticed that I only had the freezes and hard locks when the phone was running on the battery. I rarely had problems when the phone was on the dock or USB charger, however, I did have reboots when it was on the wall charger.
Another program you can try is call 'Wake Lock' available from the marketplace. I haven't used it yet, I'm still experimenting with load monitor.
Wake lock has a few different options and has some really good review.
I confirmed that Neutrino 2.5 CM7 Rom works great without reboots.
That's a patch you need to apply to correct a battery drain problem of the original version. Notorious544d are working in a 2.6 version including that patch.
To me it's working like a charm. I'm testing for two days but, of course, everyone needs to test it in your own device.
PS: Follow this instructions to install a battery drain patch in Neutrino 2.5 (or wait for a 2.6 version):

See you!
what patch?

Could you point me to that patch? I can't seem to find it. Thank you
Sleep Of DEATH!!!
I was encountering that problem for a while but then I figured that something went wrong when I was flashing CM7 Beta. So I flashed Aura's ROM, and then Reflashed CM7 Beta and only experienced it once a month at most after that, Hope it helps

Atrix SOD & Random reboots related to Wifi?
Does anyone know if the Atrix SOD & Random reboots are related to WiFi. I've had my wifi off all day and I've had no crashes.
I'm going to run it for a few more days without Wifi and see what happens.
I don't know about other guys, but wifi and 3G was the cause of my Atrix SOD and reboot problems.
Solved it using Neutrino Rom CM7 based.
See you!
Still working on my SOD issue, but recently, I disabled most power options, turned off wifi, rebooted and I've been running for 2 days with no crashes. After day 3, I'm going to turn wifi back on reboot and see what happens.
Update 1
After 3 days with wifi disabled, I've had no crashes, no freezes or random reboots. I'm going to enable wifi again and see what happens.
Update 2
After turning enabling my wifi and using it briefly then turning it back off, I had a random reboot later that evening.
The more I used my wifi, the more frequent my crashes became.
Interesting side note
I can enable all my radios when plugged into the desktop charger and I won't experience any crashes, however, if plugged into to the AC charger, I've had reboots and freezes.
Hello, I have installed BetterBatteryStats and CPU SPY, because I noticed that I had a faster than normal battery consumption when the tab was left alone.
I made a 30 mins test Wifi OFF, Flight Mode On, where the 29 mins of them showed me l2_hsic under Kernel Wakelock -> Since Unplugged.
Does anyone know what causes this and how to prevent it ?
Thank you.
( I am running Stock ICS 4.0.4 rooted)
Same problem here.
I am also having this issue as well using stock ics.
Hopefully someone might have an idea on solving this issue.
seems its a bug in 4.03 or 4.04 Roms , I searched internet and could not find any solution , The idea is this kernel wakelock is caused by some settings related issues like gps or wife or... , now I'm doing some investigation and try to find the root cause, however I wish an expert could bring some solution here
As I promised to report here is what I experienced:
My Tablet is P7500 and I did wipe , remove many applications , put in flight mode , disable this and that ,..... none of them where effective
and finally:
2 weeks ago I removed my simcard from tablet , Just to try to solve the issue I reinsert the sim and as you can see in attachment after around 45 minutes no l2_hsic wakelock .
what I mentioned above doesnt mean everybody have the same issue but I think its related to the sim and network discovery because during last 2 weeks I received notification in my status bar that says can not find network although it was on flight mode

Hi,
I have the exact same problem.
Tried all possible solutions with no result.
The only way is to let the Flight mode OFF, at least in my case, with stock rom TPH, WLP5.
I'm going nuts with this problem.
Yesterday I thought I had found the problem. DId several tests of getting in and out of the Flight Mode and everything was looking perfect, 5 & 6 hours of deep sleep. Then i connected a usb flash drive, that apparently also causes a kernel problem (see other posts about usb unmount). Rebooted the Tablet to solve the problem and here i go again with the l2_hsic preventing the device to deep sleep....:crying:
Hello,
I have the exact same problem and it's driving me crazy. Was anyone able to find out something new?
Thanks,
hugo.
A Custom ROM is the Solution
Hey guys, I am also a proud owner of the Galaxy Tab 10.1 GT-P7500 but unfortunately, Samsung forgot about their flagship tablet and screwed up the kernel in an otherwise utterly awesome ICS Update. The only method to solve this problem is flashing another ROM no other go. This fixed the Deep Sleep issue for me, 12 and a half hours and I'm only down to 96%. So I suggest you Root your tab ( Instructions in this link:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kBd9gMFCCrA ) and flash Toldo's JellyBeanRom ICS v6 ( This link:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1813651 ) and then enjoy the great Honeycomb battery standby on ICS (If you can't understand how to flash the ROM PM me :good
Happy Flashing Guys
i have toldo jellybeanrom v6 already flashed few weeks ago.. nothings changed, battery drain still remaining.
The problem is still there. AOKP 4.1.1 JellyBean, P7500 with sim card in. Same on CM10.
BTW. This is not a system issue (ICS or JellyBean). Rather something wrong in the kernels that come from Samsung. On my HTC One X (ICS) there is no such issue. Maybe some skilled developer could look at the difference in the source of this module between HOX and P7500?

Hello everybody.
I have little bit mystical problem and wanna share it with you - may be someone faced the same and could explain me the nature of this case.
My SGS3 is very stable and usually it works for 36 hours after charging. I turn on 3G and Wi-Fi only when I need it and I need it not very often. Maybe 2 or 3 times a day. Also I don't have a lot of incoming or outcoming calls.
And some days ago I've noticed crazy battery lifetime: it lives more than 3 days! Without any warnings, flashes, cleaning cache or reboot it wastes only 20% of battery a day! I can't post external links but I have a screenshot of battery monitor when it happened.
If it would happen after flashing another kernel or ROM or anything else, I could trace the nature of this case but I didn't do anything with my smartphone at all!
First time it happened on stock ROM + Siyah Kernel 1.8.9 and the last time it was with Android Revolution HD 23.3 + speedmod K2-11 so I can assume that kernel and ROM are not the reasons.
Maybe there is a way to trace it or to repeat? I really don't know when it can happen again but I really loved such battery lifetime experience and I wanna make it permanent. Or it's still a mystic?
Thank you for any help.
