Hello, i have an huawei u8180, on it installed cm7 v1.1 subpsyke
i want to know if is there any mettod to set up a start-up sound (ex like windows or ubuntu).
sorry for my bad english
use this not my i found on cm forum
This is what you do.
1. Download this shell script here http://dl.dropbox.com/u/10373328/bootsnd.sh
2. Place it on the root of your SD card & then open Terminal & type the followingsucd /sdcardsh bootsnd.sh
3. Now by using a file manager program with R/W (Read/Write) go to the /system/bin in your phone & make sure the file has transfered over! It should say BOOTSOUND & have permissions set to rwxrwxrwx! for this I use Root Explorer or you can use File Manager once you have selected R/W
4. Before transferring your sound file over rename it on your pc, android_audio and make sure it is a .mp3 file. Transfer the sound file from your pc to the root of your SDcard. Now move your sound file you want to play when the phone boots to /system/media of your phone & rename it android_audio you will have to be in R/W mode! Typically fifteen seconds is plenty long and just perfect, however anything over 30 seconds will get cut off.
5. Reboot & enjoy your new BOOTSOUND B)
If your having trouble getting sounds to play this should fix the problem.
Here is how to fix it. Make sure you are mounting in R/W mode on each of these steps.
To start go to
/system/etc/init.local.rc
and open it in the text editor. Delete everything from
###Bootsound - Safe to Delete: Start###
to
###Bootsound - Safe to Delete: Stop###
Delete any instances of IT
Using a app like root explorer, goto /system/bin and delete the file bootsound.Back out to /system now open build.prop in text editor mode, look for this text.
ro.config.play.bootsound=1
Delete it from the build.prop and save and exit.
This is optional but recommened. Reboot phone. Verify no sound is playing.
Now run the script again and reboot. You should have a boot sound again
working good) thx
p.s. how to decrease volume? (because it's dissorting)

I hear a lot of people wanting to put certain shutdown animations on their phone. Maybe you like the one from Bionix 1.3.1 or the one from Sweethoney series of ROMs. Well, I decided to make detailed instructions on how to put any shutdown animation on your phone you would like.
I used the TV shutdown animation and audio on mine, but I imagine this would work for taking any shutdown animation you want from any ROM and making it your own.
You can get the TV shutdown screen on any ROM...you just use your computer to open the ROM.zip (generic name could be any ROM.zip).
1. Go to "system/media" folder and find the "/video" folder and take it from any ROM that has the TV shutoffx (I think Sweethoney 2.5 has it.)
2. Copy the entire "/video" folder to your desktop.
3. Now connect your phone via USB and copy the "/video" folder to your phone memory. Not your external sd card but your phones internal memory (I made a folder on my phone called "RomsKernelsFixes" for such files) Now disconnect your phone.
4. Use RootExplorer (found in Market) and go to the file on your phone (the "/video" folder) you copied from your computer. Long press the "/video" folder. Then chose "copy".
5. Now go to the "system/media" folder on your phone. Its in the first menu on RootExplorer. Paste the "/video" folder into the "system/media" folder (you may have to click the "enable R/W" button at the top).
6. Now reboot! You should have the TV shutoff animation.
Now for the audio. Same method. Start in the extracted ROM.zip This time the file is in the "system/media/audio/ui" folder. Its called "shutdown.ogg" I believe. Copy this file to your desktop and use the same method above for the "/video" file. But this time you paste "shutdown.ogg" to the "system/media/audio/ui" folder. Viola! Reboot. (you may have to delete the old "shutdown.ogg" first)
You now have the TV shutoff video and audio.
I may be incorrect about which ROM has it. But whichever does...that is how you go about taking it and putting it in any ROM you want.
Hope this helps someone.
::if i helped you click thanks::

Hey guys I just rooted my phone I download root explorer as an apk file and installed it through astro file manager. I want to turn the shutter sound off my camera when I take photos and get ride of the battery life limit thing.
everywhere I read they say I have to creat the file local.prop - "/data/local.prop"
How do I do this with root? I tried renaming the shutter_01.ogg file in /system/media/audio/ui but its a read only file
please help!
you should mount the /system. w.
write and read. then you can edit it.
but my fw is no sound when it's in silent mode. theres no need to delete or rename the file

doesnt work I can only remount as R/O and remount as R/W and that does not let me create a file only a folder

toggle the Mount R/W box at upper root explorer apps till it change to Mount R/O, then rename the shutter_01.ogg.bak this will remove the shutter sound. You can remove the other camera sound using this method, except for the autofocus sound...
Hope this will help >.<
In the main file on root explorer (when you open it up) I can onlt hange it from remount as R/O to remount as R/W and whne I go to system/media/audio/ui it has
says under it /dev/block/mmcblk0p9 (r/o) - remount as R/W and you cant change it to anything there
Confused! I have a sound file on the SD card that I used to use for the notification sound of my prior phone (shift). All the sound files need to be in a dir under system/media/audio/ notifications. I tried copy paste via Astro but the permissions prevent the paste action. How do I get the file moved to where the LTE is expecting it?
I can get it to show up as a ringtone choice. But when I go to settings, sounds, default notification, it is not there.
I have had some issues with astro lately when using it to 'move' (copy paste). Just a hunch, but try doing this using Root Explorer.
Solved:
After failing to copy via all file explorer apps I connected to my computer with debug mode on. I was able to copy paste to the notifications folder & now the phone lists it as a choice. I made it my default & all is well. Lot of work for a simple task?

If you are not r00ted, or S-OFF, HTC Dev unlocked, you will not be able to use Astro or Root Explorer (my personal favorite) to move the files to the correct location, so you would need to download the notification.
Settings => Sound => Notification Sound
Then, you will see an option called "Shifter" which might be the same.
If not, click on the [Get More] button in the upper-right hand corner, to download whatever you like.
If this fails, then you can connect to your computer via USB ~ TWRP Recovery has a great mount option as well... ~ and you can copy and paste at will.
I have successfully created my own bypass to get viper4android to work. Always create a full backup before attempting =)
1. Download viper4android APK
2. Download Root Explorer from the playstore
3. Install Both Apps
4. Launch Root Explorer
5. In root explorer go to /system/lib/soundfx and copy the folder to /data/ (make a soundfx folder)
6. Also copy /system/etc/audio_effects.conf to the /data/soundfx/ folder
7. Using root explorers menu you can create a shortcut (symbolic link) make a shortcut of the /data/soundfx/ folder and a shortcut of the /data/soundfx/audio_effects.conf
8. Boot into TWRP
9.Mount the system partition
10. Rename /system/lib/soundfx to /system/lib/soundfx2
11. Copy soundfx shortcut create earlier to /system/lib/ it will look like a "file" to TWRP
12.Rename the /system/etc/audio_effects.conf to /system/etc/audio_effects.conf1
13. Copy the audio_effects shortcut into /system/etc/ (be sure its name matches the old exactly)
15. Reboot
16. Launch Viper and install driver
I haven't dealt with LPA yet (hasn't had an issue) nor have I done any other modifications at this time which are avail on the viper4android thread.
I was just thinking about symbolic links to get around this S-OFF/ON issue and it appears they work and technically as a workaround we could symbolically link everything in system to another location and access it all. This could easily be put into ROM builds now at least as well!
Build.Prop may be useful to move out via sym link as well
I'll try this in a bit. Thanks
