Swype: How to remove Spanish? - Motorola Droid X2

I don't write spanish at all, but the language option in Swype keyboard keeps switching me to learn
Is there a way to remove it completely?

I'm running Swype Beta on cm7 and don't remember if default Swype that comes preinstalled on the x2 has the same settings... Whatever...try going to Swype setting, language, uncheck espsanol and that should do it.

I've been trying to figure this out as well...I've yet to find an option to disable it...I'm considering editing the app to hey rid of it. Assuming I can get into the app...

Don't think I was clear... To get to settings you need to long press the Swype key (should be bottom row far left with the Swype graphic on it) that will launch the options menu (for preinstalled Swype) from witch you would select the settings menu...or if you have Swype Beta installed it will take you directly to settings...
I am using Swype Beta and once in setting I go to language and uncheck espanol thus removing Spanish as an option so no more accidental switching to Spanish in the middle of Swyping.
Apparently this change is made through the phone settings menu if you are using the stock Swype keyboard on a stock or "blur" based rom. In that case go to the thread linked below an follow instructions in the last post.
Hope this helps

I have tried both methods, unfortunately, neither of them works.
The problem with the selection is it is a radiobutton instead of a checkbox for the language option for swype. Therefore, even if you choose English, once you nice figure touch the En/Es button, you are back on learning spanish. No offense, but I have no interesting in learning a new language.
For the stock keyboard, it is fine to unselect the unwanted languages.
This is the biggest and best "feature" of swype, even better than itune. I must say the project manager and developers spent many hours on this bug.

Near as I can figure... Sliding your finger across the spacebar should change the language or access that function. Settings for the stock cm7 keyboard are in phone settings under Language & Keyboard.

I've been using it too, but I did notice that after a reboot or on occasion that it won't swype unless you switch to another keyboard first, type something, and then switch back.

Same thing here. But, it's working 98% of the time. I have been using it as my main soft keyboard and it's been solid enough to keep going.

All you need to do is uncheck swype, press home, go back to keyboard settings and enable swype. Then it works. No need to type with another keyboard.

Slightly quicker: In text box just change input method to any other keyboard then change right back to Swype. Don't have to leave the text box.

Swype help

Hi I just downloaded swype beta and its turned on but the keyboard doesn't change. The same thing happened when I tried swift keyboard. I check it but its the stock keyboard. I am on bamf beta 6. Anyone have any ideas.

Hold on the text input box and choose input method and choose swype.
I'm sorry, but I don't see that button on my keyboard.
Sent from my ADR6400L using XDA App
Long press the text input area. You'll see a dialog pop up with keyboard choices.
Synergy and Dream Kernel
Thanks I finally got it figured out. I had to go to the swype installer app and change a setting there.

Now be aware, unless with Swype Beta 3.0 they fixed it, that when you reboot your phone, Swype will stop working.
What you'll have to do is long press inside a text box, and switch your input mode back to the stock keyboard. Long press again, and switch it back to Swype. You'll be good to go! I guess I haven't rebooted since 3.0 installed yesterday... maybe they fixed this bug?!
I just rebooted and swype was still there so that's a good thing

But did it work just fine? I've always had to switch to the stock keyboard, then back to swype after a reboot, otherwise the actual swype motions wouldn't create words.

Yes, the new Swype 3.0 works for our phone and does not have the problems that the old one had when it would reboot that you would have to select another input type then Swype again. That was a big headache to deal with every time you wanted to enter a new message.
Yeap like picao said it worked without a hitch.

I'm using Swype 1.6 and am not having any issues with it, use it with the default mail app, and it's there after rebooting. Is this only a 3.0 "feature"?
Awesome. i'm going to reboot right now just to check!
so im on bamf 1.6.3 and the stock messaging app wont auto space between words for swype. it does on handcent but i dont like using it. has anyone found a fix for this? and i heard it was fixed on gingerbread is that true?
The beta skips spaces and I haven't had any issues with it yet. But the double space doesn't put a period.
Sent from my ADR6400L using XDA App
I'm glad they fixed this with the new 3.0 beta, what a pain in the ass that was after every reboot.
I run ARHD on Desire HD. In all previous Swype versions up to now, swyping almost never worked until I manually re-initialised its listener.
The current version hasn't displayed this problem at all, which had finally made the program quite usable. The word chooser is still proving to be a bit of a problem due to silly default choices, I'm having to correct it far too often. And editing words that aren't in the dictionary is exceptionally tricky due to the way the cursor keeps jumping around in edit mode, though that may be just as much the fault of Android Gingerbread or HTC Sense, for all I know.

I had the same issue when i initially got my TB (before rooting/ROM). I found in these forums a link to the EVO swype apk that you can use on the TB to fix the auto-space issue with SMS/MMS.
I'm back to using the 3.0 beta version of swype and I'm having the same auto-space issue you describe. I like the 3.0 updates too much to go back to the old EVO version, but maybe the EVO 3.0 apk would give the same fix as the old version.

Unnamed 1.2.0 Swype languages

Is it possible to remove the other languages this time around? On standard Swype, you could simply deselect the languages available in settings. Now, it simply has the option to switch between English and Spanish. I accidentally hit the key sometimes, but never use Spanish--so, any way to remove the option completely?

+1 for this request. Accidentally hitting languages I never use is quite annoying.
Hold down on the language button and uncheck Spanish. The language button will still be there, but when you hit it the keyboard won't switch to Spanish... nothing will happen.
Or you could install a different version of Swype.
This is how it used to be, but Unnamed 1.2.0 uses an updated version of Swype which does not have the uncheck ability--only selecting.

Not sure if you're using a different version of Swype on 1.2, but on mine I most certainly can't uncheck languages. Instead, it shows the green circle to the right, where you simply choose which language you want.

Swype - IM vs I'm

Is there a way I can delete the word "IM" from Swypes dictionary? It's driving me insane! I don't ever use it yet it always autocorrects to that when ever I try to write "I'm"
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I777 using Tapatalk
Highlight the word, then hit the Swype key. It will confirm that you want to delete it.
Edit: I think I'm wrong... It seems like it only works with words you add to the dictionary. I tried deleting "IM" and it wouldn't let me.
Are you on beta or pre-installed? I never had that issue with beta.
I'm on beta. I don't know why it keeps suggesting it.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I777 using Tapatalk
Just for clarification, are you swyping or typing. I just noticed that swyping straight down always gives me I'm, and typing give IM.
Typing. I like the Swype layout but to type on. I can't seem to get used to any other keyboard besides the Sense keyboard.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I777 using Tapatalk
Oh, in that case I have no idea how to change it. Maybe you could try getting used to swyping? Or maybe a new keyboard?
I know they have their own forum. You might want to try asking there.
You can delete words by going into settings-> language and-> keyboard settings-> swype settings-> personal dictionary and delete the word. Have you tried this?
Personal dictionary only lets you delete words you personally put in.
I'm having the same problem with some stupid typos with ICS 4.0 keyboard from market. I uses slideit but it became unstable and would crash even after full wipe of app/data and clean install.

[Q] CM9 / AOKP / Liquid Rom - 4.2 ASOP Keyboard

Has anyone tried to install the newly leaked "swype" standard keyboard on twisted's build? Does it work? Could it be included into the builds down the road?
I tried it. The one that is in the jb keyboard is better though. I still prefer typing. The swipe keyboard doesn't put spaces in so you're still stuck doing that.

Atleast it works so basically just download it, reboot into recovery, install it from the zip file, clean the cache, davlik cache and reboot the system? Hopefully twisted could build it in his build.

I've been using the swype beta 1.3.1 keyboard and it works pretty well. I'm thinking I'll wait to flash the 4,2 keyboard until the next build comes out so it'll be over a clean install. Does it look like the 'real time' predictive text helps? Any overall thoughts between the 2?

The way I have done it is if you type a word that the dictionary does not recognize and it shows the red line under it if you tap on the word a dialog will come up asking you to save to dictionary and then you can swype it once you add it to the dictionary. Also if you go to System Settings > Language & Input > Personal Dictionaries > English. You can add words into your personal dictonary by hitting the + at the botton of the screen.
I have been using Touch Pal for about a day and so far I don't have any complaints about it.
Although I'm not sure if the version I've installed is a trial version. Download From Google Store.
Sent from my ThunderBolt using xda app-developers app
I've been using it for a few days now and like it. No stability issues so far. My only complaint is that it doesn't have volume key navigation (cm) and it lacks the extra gesture actions that swype offers. To be honest it doesn't seem functionally different than swype in terms of accuracy of the predictive text, and it does automatically include spaces.
First swiftkey and now Google, I hope for their sake swype has some patents hidden away.
