Confusion: Dutch Spell Checker? - Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime

Hi,
I'm a bit confused by the following...
Three things:
1) It seems that Android ICS has a Spell Checker that displays red lines underneath misspelled words.
The settings for the Spell Checker are available via 'Settings -> Language & input -> Spelling Correction'.
I can set this to:
- Use system language
- English
- French
- German
- Italian
- Spanish
2) The input language of the default Keyboard can be set to multiple languages (mine is set to English and Dutch).
The default Android Keyboard seems to have some kind of spell checker.
The settings for the Android Keyboard are available via 'Settings -> Language & input -> Android Keyboard'.
Via 'Add-on dictionaries' I can add more languages, I can choose from:
- English
- Češtine (Czech)
- Nederlands (Dutch)
- Français (French)
- Deutsch (German)
- Italiano (Italian)
- Pyccknň (Russian)
- Español (Spanish)
3) The input language of the ASUS Keyboard can be set to multiple languages (mine is set to English and Dutch).
But there is no separate setting for spell checker or correction language.
When I set my system language to Dutch and the Spell Checker to 'Use system language' the set language of the default keyboard (2) or the ASUS keyboard (3) seem to influence the language used by the spell checker (1).
When I set my system language to Dutch and the keyboard is set to Dutch, it seems that the spell checker (the red lines) doesn't work at all. When the keyboard is set to English the spell checker does work.
My question beeing:
Which setting does what exactly?
Can someone verify that the Dutch spell checker does/doesn't work?

Same here, have you found a solution?

No, I haven't.
For now my conclusion is that there is no Dutch spell checker (the red lines) in ICS.
Setting the system language to Dutch, and the spell checker to 'Use system language' just means that the spell checker doesn't check anything (no red lines at all), since there is no Dutch dictionary available.
Maybe a Dutch dictionary will be added in future releases or someone will make a third-party Dutch dictionary. I hope so!

I'm totally confused also.....Any-one already has an idea?

The situation is similar to the Russian language, spell check only works with the five standard languages.
Additional dictionaries can only work correctly with auto-correction
Apparently, the spell checker uses the same dictionaries as the auto-correction, but to check the spelling was not announced additional languages
Who can tell about this problem? ;-)

xt9 Language Pack for WM 6.1 Pro

I'm using pArtizAn's WM 6.1 Pro Rom, but this amazing Rom only supports xt9 for Russian and English. I'm a German and writing SMS without t9 really sucks!
So I was looking for a Language Pack like they exist for the Standard-Roms.
I found this Language Pack from MoDaCo. I installed it and - contrary to all other exisiting Language Packs - the t9-key was working and I was able to write with the dictionary, but the keymapping was totally mixed up!
Eg. my Hardware-Button 2 was mapped to 1, e & r (so if I wanted to type an r in the ABC-Mode, I had to press the HardwareButton 2 twice !)
Or if I wanted to write "test" with dictionary I had to press 3,2,6,3 instead of 8,3,7,8!
So I tried to copy only the 2 Files "hpd.5x4.German.kdb" & "DElsUN_xt9.ldb" from the cab to my windows-dir and I modified/created this 3 registryvalues:
"HKLM\Software\Tegic\eT9\IME\KDbFiles\0607" value = "hpd.5x4.German.kdb"
"HKLM\Software\Tegic\eT9\LdbFiles\0107" value = "DElsUN_xt9.ldb"
And appended on the 3 value (HKLM\SOFTWARE\Tegic\eT9\AvailableLanguages) ",0107"
After that, the keymapping was correct! But after selecting German in the XT9-Menu, it wasn't displayed in the XT9-Menu to be selected, but by typing with the dictionary the t9 suggested me some german words and by selecting them, the xt9-bar freezed and was visible everywhere until I did a softreset.
Let's simply say: It acted really confused!
My guess is, that this is connected with the file eT9.HQD.kdb
So. Is there any genius out who can help me???
post german language pack here.
i will add it in the next release, maybe.
Yes, please! I'd really appreciate that! Thank you!!!
XT9 German.zip:
The 2 language-files I suppose to be responsable for german.
Is this enough or should I try to upload the cab including Czech, Danish, German, English, Spanish, Finnish, French, Italian, Dutch, Norwegian, Polish, Portugese, Russian & Swedish ???
I had some troubles uploading this file - I guess my Connection is too slow (512 kbit up) and the server is getting into a timeout. But I can also put the file on my server and send you a direct download link via PM for this file (also tried to upload it via URL - no chance!)

Hi
Yesterday i've played araound with the files from HTC Touch Dual. Is there anyone who can tell me how to edit key mapping??? The current keymapping is:

"2" 1; e; r
"3" 2; z; t
"4" 3; u; i; ü
"5" .; o; ö; p
"6" ?; s; a; ä
"7" 4; d; f
"8" 5; h; g
"9" 6; k; j
"0" ,; l; s
The files are from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1672748&postcount=4 and the howto i used is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1946530&postcount=263
I know that these are files from HTC Niki that uses a 5x4 keypad but how to change to 3x4??? I couldn't find a 3x4 xt9 kdb file for pocket pc.
StefanV3
Hi
Thanks for mailing me. But there is no need to upload it because it is available here at http://melgurth.ovh.org/index.php?page=downloads .
But, could you tell us how to activate it??? I installed it but i don't know how to activate it. There is no menu entry...
StefanV3
Hi
@ husbender
Thanks, i will try it again. Did you really mean the '#' key??? In private message you told me that you holding down the '*' key. '#' key gives me the list with symbols...
Back to Topic:
I've played around again with the files from the XT9 lang pack from the first post of this topic. It should be that the problem is related to the kdb files that Erofich uses for english and russian xt9. It should be special ones for the qtek keyboard. Is this right Erofich??? Could you tell us how to develope a german kdb file???
StefanV3
Hi
Please send it...
Stefan
Thank you very much for your help, husbender.
But this t9 languagepack isn't working on my WM 6.1 Pro Rom. After the installation I'm only able to write numbers and I'm unable to open the t9 menu by pressing the *-key! So I've uninstalled it and everything went back to normal - without a German t9...
I'm looking forward to Erofichs new rom /w german t9 or someone who could remap the keys from the t9 shadow languagepack.
But thank you husbender!
I'm looking for Spanish xT9
Hi, does somebody have the file Spanish xT9 only?
because I found a international languages, but i don't need all the other ones.
Thanks

[Q+WARNING] Problem with dictionnary in WB007 (see post #2)

Last week I have installed the rom from Wolfbreak, the version 2.3 TW006 with the 007 fix.
WB says that the french language is included with belgian but I'am french.
At the first connection, the french has been automaticaly choose by the phone and all seem to run fine.
But today when I want to type a word the dictionnary write another very different.
For exemple (in french), if I want to type :
Code:
C'est pas eux
"it's not them" in english, the dictionnary write:
Code:
C'est Pas Pas
In fact, it seem to learn words and repeat them because the dictionnary is empty.
Is there a file (apk or other) I can check or re-write in /system ???
WARNING !!!
This is the last version of tapatalk 1.12.4 which is buggy !
Explanation :
I wipe all on my phone (system, data, cache), I install last rom from WB (3.5).
After rebooting, I install color note to test and when I type a word this the good word.
so I close color note and I install tapatalk.
I open color note and the bug appears....
But if I uninstall tapatalk, the bug stay and I have to reflash reboot in xrec, wipe cache....
Perhaps the bug exists only with french language selected, so tapatalk team has not tested this.

ADB shell: change IME method gives error “Unknown ID: null”

I bought a Chinese Android 4.2.2 smartwatch (SWatch / Kingelon K2) and discover it does not have any virtual keyboard. There is also no "input" option in Settings (there is "language" only).
I installed a third party keyboard (Anysoftkeyboard) and another app called Quick Keyboard Switch that can change keyboards with going through Settings.
When I run Quick Keyboard Switch and tried to enable the downloaded keyboard, the app force closed.
I found a post in Stackexchange describing how to use ADB shell to enable and set the default keyboard:
how to change input method with ime command
The instruction from the above post describes how to enable the keyboard using "ime enable com.etc.etc" command before setting the keyboard as default using "ime set com.etc.etc"
Unfortunately, when I use the "ime enable" command in ADB shell ("su" applied, the watch has been rooted), it gives me an error message:
Error: Unknown ID: null
When I use "ime set" command, it returns a similar error message ("com.etc.etc" (name of keyboard) instead of "null") - I gather this is because I have not enabled the keyboard yet.
I am worried that I don't even see "keyboard" option in Settings - does that mean the input module has been removed by the firmware maker of this smartwatch?
If so, where should I look in the Android firmware (I guess somewhere inside /system) that I can copy and paste to restore the keyboard input function?
I am NOT a developer nor a computer engineer. I google and try to find solutions to my problems. Thank you for your help and being patient.

Locales not showing up in Settings even though they are installed

Hi everyone,
I'm working on an AOSP device which has a limited set of locales, and I wanted to add Portuguese to the device. I did this by modifying device/qcom/common/common.mk and adding in pt_PT to PRODUCT_LOCALES. With the image that this build produces, I can successfully set the language to Portuguese through the setprop persist.sys.language settings, but if I go to Settings -> Language and Input -> Language, Portuguese is not on the list.
Does anyone have any ideas on how I can add a language to the languages list in Settings?
Thank you.
