Hi all,
I am finding so many stickies on creating your own boot logo and I have successfully done so. I followed this tutorial on another site (allegedly copied from xda) because that's what I was able to find and understand the most. And it worked. (droidpirate.com/2010/10/18/how-to-droid-x-droid-2-change-your-bootup-logo/)
However, according to the instructions, the image resolution must be 480x182 which makes for an awfully small logo on the boot screen.
I searched XDA forums looking for a definitive answer on the resolution and regards to the Droid X and I haven't found any, what I have found are a lot of much higher resoltuion logos being used that fill the entire boot screen and they look amazing. I also found a generic Android thread tha says to make the image 240 x 400. When I tried that, it made my boot logo even smaller and put two of them side by side.
So I'm stuck. I can live with a small boot logo if that's just the way it is for a Droid X but it certainly sucks to be stuck there. I am going to tackle custom boot animations this weekend and am wondering about the same limitations.
I did search many forums here first and I found so many different instructions for different Android devices but nothing directly answering this sort of question.
Sorry if I missed it.

if you're referring to the first screen which appears when the EVO 3D turns on, spiicytuna made a great guide thread with directions on how to change this splash screen: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1194459

Thanx joey. Thanx button hit. I thought it was gonna be as easy as putting the PG.zip on the SD card and run the bootloader and let it do its thing, I guess not LOL do u know also if theres a guide on how to make custom boot animations ?

well, on the EVO we were able to put the image inside a PC36IMG.zip and flash, to be honest, I think we could do the same on the EVO 3D. zip file is named differently and maybe the splash image is named differently, but I wouldn't be surprised if a similar approach worked. Only downside is I haven't seen anything on it, but it is worth a try. Worse case, the bootloader should read through the zip and not recognize anything worth flashing. i haven't heard any reports of the evo 3d/evo bootloader flashing a bad image and overwriting other things as i've seen happen on samsung phones.
In regards to making boot animations, there are lots of scatter guides on many forums for that. The boot animations do slightly differ between some devices, but the differing commands for how to process the boot animation should be contained in a .txt file inside the .zip, if I remember correctly.
off the top of my head, the differences between boot animations on devices would be resolution, how many frames to play per second and how long to play them for.
the best guide i could quickly find is for the samsung intercept, so resolution would probably be tweaked and perhaps frame rates also.

Haven't seen any method for S-On. Have a bad feeling HTC didn't make this available through their official unlock process ...
If I'm wrong, hopefully somebody will post up a link/guide for official HTC unlock users!
ok - Yes, noob on xda... Not noob to rooting - droids - etc. With that out of way I am new with vivid.. I have wcx wild child root, unlocked, with teather/no beats. I have done as much searching as I can which has brought me to here. I typically do not like asking questions and figure it out on my own but wild child is new to me and i'm not sure what i'm doing.
Here is what i've done. I found two different "beats" roms to isntall. One is for CWM which i am fimiliar with but when I try to get it to load my vivid sticks on the HTC white screen of death. So, I've seen posts saying CWM isn't done for the vivid? Is this still correct? So the other method says rumraider, I have them both downloaded but cannot find "rumraider" to use for loading.
Sorry if my questions are nooblike but I'm a little stuck on this one if you can help. Also, I cannot post where I thought this was better fit and this seemed like a good next place to start. Any help would be greatly appriciated, or if beats isn't possible then another good EQ app would be helpful.
Check the Vivid-specific Dev forum for an alternate recovery and give that a shot.

I was wondering if anyone could turn this into a flashable zip? I'm a huge fan of the stock One X boot animations. The down animation isn't really important but if you can get it to work i'll be very grateful. :good:
Here's some animations I found. Credit goes to the source.

I finally found this page. I stumbled on it a while back but lost it. Anyways, I had a question about setting this up on my one x international. I'm using venom 3.7.4 and wanted more clarification on if this is compatible? Now from reading the thread I'm seeing that I must find the original boot file. I wanted to know if it's labeled the same? basically just a swap?

Just put bootanimation.zip in the appropriate folder (/system/media maybe? It moved at Android 4 I think). Depending on the resolution of the image (or the device it's coming from) it may not fit perfectly but it's easy to fix by cutting out the logo and pasting it into an appropriate sized black box.
EDIT: Follow Post #2 from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2343377 using the bootanimation.zip you wanted.
Hello everyone, I was hacking my hdx hoping to put the CM11, but unfortunately in the build.prop change the inevitable happened.
now I can only go to stock recovery, the tablet starts, logo kindle fire gray and then black screen, I do not know how to go to fastboot, but I think I need a little ...
does anyone know how to fix this mess? :crying:
thanks in advance and sorry for my carelessness

I had already seen that topic, but I forgot to say that:
ADB is not active,
The computer does not recognize the device,
and I can't get into fastboot.
there are many many threads here with the same problem and describe how to resolve ADB issues also ...sorry you may have to read all the way through several long threads believe me most of us here have read just about every word here at one time and there's a lot to absorb I understand but is your device and your boo boo not trying to be an a-hole but if you can read enough to screw up your device and you should be able to read enough to fix it trust me it is all here and you'll learn a lot just by doing a little extra reading on your device. Good luck and welcome to XDA

I moved your thread to the correct place.
It would be better if you gave us EXACTLY what steps you are doing so that we can help you troubleshoot the issue instead of asking for someone to just do it for you.

Well I have just about tried everything, saving it as gif and recreating it to a frame animation with the Hboot website, to creating each frame and making the zip file myself, it just always comes out fuzzy or pixelated i think its just my PC or something... will try another PC later, Resolution is on 300 and dimensions are on 480 by 480 which is enough, i have also tried putting it to my actual phones dimensions but it comes out the same. - 1080 by 1920
