[Q] Bricked Phone? - HTC Amaze 4G

After installing the Bulletproof 2.4 rom i flashed kernal using flash kernal gui app and then restarted phone. Now phone only reboots into bootloader/recovery. Is there any possible fix? Thanks

Well you can reboot into recovery so why not just reflash the rom.

i did that and when i reboot phone after rom installation it just goes back to bootloader

Did you make a backup? If so restore it.
If you don't want to and want to continue to flash the rom, flash the kernel via easy kernel flasher twice while In bootloader. Then flash your rom in recovery, be sure to do a full wipe.

thank you. i flashed the kernal twice and then installed the rom. Everything is back to normal. Thank you. Will i have to flash the kernal twice before every new rom installation? If so, why is that? Thanks again. I really appreciate the support

[Q] CM7 Flash not working

hey guys, sorry but im a noob at this. i have a lg p500 with android 2.2 . i followed the instructions to root my phone and install a custom recovery. both worked. i also backed up my phone and performed a data/cache wipe on the phone from the recovery console. i was able to flash the cm7 into the phone. however, upon reboot, the phone kept getting stuck at a bootloop with the android 2.2 splash screen. AFAIK CM7 has its own boot screen. ive tried it twice with 2 different beta versions. any suggestions?
THANKS PPL!
Format system, for this flash the zip file from the first post. You will find "if you get bootloop".

Here's the link to the .zip that you can flash to fix this: system flash fix
When?
Thanks for the quick reply!
i do have a few more questions. when do i flash the format image on my phone? do i do it after creating a nandroid backup or do it do it after installing the custom ROM. and if i do install it, and if something goes wrong, will i be able to restore my phone back to its pre-flash state using a recovery image? please let me know. thanks so much!
wipe all, flash format zip, than flash cm7 zip.

You must flash: format system.zip first, then flash Mik's rom

ROM Flashing and Kernel Flashing; Order of Operation?

Hey guys, I've been flashing roms and kernals for a little while now and still I'm far from an expert. I've managed to brick my phone recover and do many other things from the help of this forums and I thank you. But I guess I never knew the answer to the following question.
Is it better to flash a rom then flash the kernel (Overstock, tigersblood etc) before loading the rom and waiting 10 mins or is it better to flash the rom, then load the rom wait ten mins or so then go back into CWM and flash the kernel and wait another 10 mins?
What makes for a more stable rom?
I always flash the rom, do a reboot recovery, flash the kernel then let the phone boot into android. Haven't had any issues.

Flashing kernel first is dumb, because doesn't flashing the ROM replace the kernel????
Obviously.
1) Flash rom
2) any kernel if any at all
3) factory reset (depends on rom)
4) reboot
5) wait 10 minutes, and reboot and done.
I think he meant flash rom then flash kernel immediately or let rom boot, wait 10 then flash kernel...

You CAN flash the rom and then immediately do the kernel, BUT
I believe it is preferred/better to do the rom... let it sit for 10 minutes... reboot.... restore all your apps, reboot into recovery, flash the kernel, rejoice.
That is my preferred method.
Lol, this is a funny thread. But heres what i do.
- Flash ROM
- Boot (Let sit 15min) play blackops here
- Power off phone
- Power on phone
- Reboot recovery
- Flash kernel (usually OC)
- Restore setcpu
- OC system and begin restore process of titanium, sms, bookmarks and such.
Only reason i do this is personally i like to restore with the system OC but thats just me.

Do you lose all settings/media on phone when flashing kernels like you do when you flash ROMs?
No you don't

[Q] flash image question

hey everyone. so my question is about the flash image gui. if I flash a kernel through it and reboot recovery, am I able to wipe the rom using superwipe right then and there? or do I have to reboot recovery again to make the kernel stick so superwipe doesn't touch it before flashing the rom. pretty sure that's clear. but if not let me know. thanks for everyone who looks and helps!
When using flash image GUI to flash a kernel. You don't need to go into recovery at all afterwards. Should be good. When installing a ROM with a custom kernel flash superwipe script then flash ROM in recovery boot phone then flash kernel VIA image GUI. Then test your wifi, 4g, data, calling etc.
sent from America...F__k Yeah!
Actually you had it right the first time. You flash the kernel first, reboot into recovery, wipe then flash the rom. Wiping won't touch the kernel you just flashed.

You should change this post as you could cause problems for people. If someone is changing from sense rom to an AOSP rom, or vise versa, you definitely want to flash kernel first with flash image gui.

Because of s-on I don't think that the superwipe script can affect the boot partition of the phone so your good with what you say OP.

Oh! Thats weird because thats how I have been doing it. Everything works for me. I been on just about all ROMS out there...from ICS to sense 3.5 and now the lastest firmware running imbredded ROM. Only once I had a problem with a kernel when I updated to latest OTA using my method above. I then used flash image gui to flash the stock kernel (boot.img) and everything worked fine after.
thanks everyone for answering! I was pretty sure the superwipe wasnt able to erase the kernel being 1.5, just wanted to have some clarification

[Question!!] Restore stock?

Hi,
i've just installed the Resurrection remix rom on my phone but unfortunately the banking app that I use a lot doesnt work with it for some reason. How do I go about restoring my phone to the stock ICS and kernel... I do still want to keep root access, though.
This is the kernel I originally flashed it with
CF-Root-SGS2_XW_XEN_LP7-v5.4-CWM5.zip
all help will be greatly appreciated
I should add that I tried to restore from the back up that I made in clockwork recovery but the app cant find it so I'm thinking the back up didnt work properly!
Anyone?

Using cwm wipe, if possible, format system partition, after that flash using Odin.

you should find everything you need to know in this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278
Did you make a nandroid backup in CWM? If yes, just boot to recover, do a full wipe and do a restore.
If not, go to receovery, do a full wipe, turn off phone, flash the firmware you want thru odin. Let it boot. Power off again, go into download mode, flash a rooted kernel, let it boot and then flash the original kernel with CWMManager from within the rom.
Thanks guys... all sorted

Unable to flash any ROM in recovery

Everytime I try to flash a ROM on an i9100 in the recovery, the phone just dies during the installation of the ROM. I can boot back into the recovery as well as the system. I am using ClockwordMod recovery.
The ROM that is currently running is CM10.1. I have no clue what this issue is and I would really appreciate any help.

how about:
1- reverting to stock rom first
2- get root
3- try flashing via recovery
huh?
