Some advices.... - Atrix 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys.
My atrix went back from the warranty, and they said that is all ok, and did a softare update (already did by me via ota, so I don't know what they had updated) and did a general test of the device.
BUT
My phone has the same problems as before, random reboots when screen is off, and tonight i'll check the airplane mode (when I active this mode, the next morning when i try to disable the phone will reboot).
So, my question is this: If i'll unlock the phone (it's still locked and no root) can I solve this issues?
In italy the exchange works when the phone is went on warranty 3 times, and trust me, I bought this phone and after a week I sent it already to it, and now i'm really pissed off, I don't want to wait 1 month or more for a f*****g replacement.
Sry for the english, and language, but I'm really not in the mood .
Tnx for the answers .

Before I give my answer, I need to confirm something first, which software are you running at the moment if your phone isn't currently rooted and bootloader unlocked, would like to do that and flash ROMS on the phone. It's a possibility that might work. It could be a software thing. These are just ideas to try.

I suggest you try ROMS. The first thing you should do is look at the stickies of the atrix forum. Once you tried that and if you are still confused, I will give you a hand.

Hmm.. it seems a lot of us have been having problems with the Atrix.
Because you mentioned airplane mode, this might be radio problem. You could try flashing the Retail Brazil Radio.sbf. This actually fixed a permanent network-lock problem I had earlier.

Well, Today i went at the shop where I bought the phone, and I persuaded the employer to get me a replacement from the warranty.. so i'll have to wait like 2-3 weeks , italy sucks in this way..
I'm really pissed off, I had the phone on my hands only for 10 days, and the rest was in warranty (bought 4 March) . This sucks.
Tnx for the answers, I'll keep you updated when it come back

[Q] Galaxy S II doesnt shut down (gets stuck while shutting down, not rebooting)

Hi everyone,
first of all I did search forum, but havent find answer nor related thread, if I have missed it please sorry about it.
Got my SGS2 about 6-7 months ago. No issues, everything perfect. Got updated to 2.3.4 with KIES (not really fan of experimenting with phone that have price of above average monthly salary in Serbia).
Rooted device with ZergRush exploit since I wanted as close to mint backup in case I have to send it to service(dont ask, service here is pain in the butt), purchased Mobile Odin Pro (cheers to that Chainfire) and flashed Hellcat's kernel for 2.3.4 from Mobile Odin.
Everything was cool, CWM, made EFS backup with his tool too, and so on...
However, about 2 moths ago, I started experiencing random restarts of the phone. Did search, found out that it happens and actually dealt with it.
Now, recently, i switched off my phone in the evening (was on 20% and didnt wanted to leave it on charger, and didnt want it to die on me during night), and in the morning I havent been able to turn it on. Freaked out badly, only to realize that its battery was empty. Which was odd because I DID turned it off.
About few days ago, i switched the phone, and it went to full shut down, however managed to get stucked somewhere in process (LED's are on, did vibrate i think) but never shuts down itself.
After some time, when I picked it up since I saw LED's on, i realized that its very hot and that I cant switch it back on (presumably because it never got shuts down) and had to remove battery so that I can switch it back on. When I did, i found out that battery was about 15% drained in that 10 mins, and I dont know what he was computing while shutting down, but it burned the sh*t out of itself.
Tonight it did that again so I decided to ask first before I do factory reset/wipe everything (maybe update to ICS too).
So, any idea, suggestion what to do is more than appreciated.
Cheers
Polite bump?
What is the actual problem .

Well assuming you have read original post, why the hell that happen, does it happen to anyone else, and how to avoid it?
this may help
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1108499
Well, as I said, its not bootloop.
As I said, I shut down the phone, it starts shutting down, turn on leds, vibrate and stays turned on. After that battery drains quickly, and phone gets very hot.
When I get battery out, and back in it boots up without problems.
And I dont have any cooked rom, just Hellcats kernel for 2.3.4 stock rom.
you problem
Hi there,
Here's the best way to resolve this issue you have to re-flash a fresh new rom, meaning a full installation of the android os and here is how to do it,
First search google and download ODIN to ur computer or Pc.
Next search again google and type the following ( Sammobile.com ) and register and after that type the model number of your phone for example (i9100) in the site search bar and download rom that u need and thats it this should solve ur problem
Note : be sure to have 100% battery charged before doing the above and after installing ur new rom do a full wipe and enjoy,
I hope this was helpful,
Regards,
iMatrix
Yeah, thats probably that I will end up doing, luckily i have bought Titanium Backup so that I can backup all apps that I have and restore them after wiping everything.
I was wondering that somebody have any idea what might be going on.
Thanks for suggestions everyone.
before that try wiping cache and dalvik cache

This seems to happen quite a bit on gb roms.. definetely time to upgrade to ICS
Actually from what I have read about ICS 4.03, Im actually glad I didnt.
Releasing it in that state(e.g. battery issues again, 3rd party sms programs sends sms twice...) is bad for both G and Samsung imho...

If there is jo Jtag shop in Syndey, you can send it overseas for Jtag repair. But I suppose it costs a lot of money.
Alternatively, you can send it to Samsung, play stupid (phone didnt turn on this morning) and keep your fingers crossed.
Wish you luck mate.

Could anyone shed some light on all these bricked phones that were bricked out of the blue - without users fault? I mean, there are so many threads about bricking phones while doing nothing - the phone was just normally used, or even with the screen off, and it just turned off by itself/rebooted itself/froze and there was no way to recover it... Similar thing happened to me month ago - I was on a safe stock 4.0.3 ROM with safe kernel (mmc_cap_erase disabled), I have just started a game that I play regularly, the screen froze, I have waited for some time, then tried to do a hard reboot, got stuck at booot logo, and that was it. Recovery was erased - no way to enter it, download mode was still alive but it was stuck while trying to flash anything - there was an error while trying to write rom, kernel etc. I had to sent it to repair centre...
Thos was just an example, one of many. So, the question is - is this bad Samsung hardware in action, or software bugs that are causing hardware malfunctions or something else? I mean, I had few HTC Android phones before, and I have never saw anything like SGS2 Q&A forum - every second thread is about bricked phone...
Any thoughts?
I think people jump in with both feet without doing much research.I don't blame them,as I just flashed RR3 and I didn't fancy reading 62,000 posts.
Plus its a very popular phone,so maybe its only a tiny %age that are faulty.

[Q]unwanted hard shutdown razr

3 monthes ago, i tried to flash the official ics stock, and bricked the phone, with installing the china edition bestand of the psasia.
ive got an factory cable and flashed the right rom. after this flash, the razer started hard-shutdowns itself about a 5-6 times a day.
not a restart. a fast-as-hell-shutdown. the phone is a realy critical workstation for me. getting the phone out of my pocket at the middle of the day and see it off, just freaks me out. it could happen while playing Jetpack-Joyride, browsing or kust listening to music.
i changed for any gsm-jb rom wich exists, even the kexec'ed ones. nothing solve it.
i would happy if someone could throw me a bone about fixing it.
Sounds like you need the GSM equivalent of Matt's RAZR Utility. Google it or search this forum. It will take you back to bone-stock, boot image and all, provided you can still get into AP fastboot mode.

[Q] Lock screen freezing/Wifi won't stay on or connected

Hey guys,
I've tried searching everything I can think of, but have had no results and I'm hoping someone can help me out.
I recently broke the digitizer in my S4, and got it exchanged at Geek Squad since I have insurance through them. (Which is a joke by the way)
Now, since I've got the new S4, I've been having problems out of it. It's really just down to two major issues.
1. When I lock the screen and unlock it again, 80% of the time it freezes up and I can't unlock it or anything. The touchscreen becomes completely unresponsive.
2. My Wifi keeps kicking itself off, regardless of what network I'm on. I also have gone into the settings and have made it always on, so it shouldn't be doing that at all.
I thought that it might just be a bad OS or something, so I re flashed the stock ROM for it, and had the same problem. So then, I rooted and flashed it using a custom ROM, and STILL have the same problems.
Could it just be in the hardware? Apparently this isn't as common of an issue as I was hoping.

Hi, I've never heard of those problems before, but if the 100% stock wipe factory image isn't working out for you I am pretty sure it is a hardware issue. If this is a software issue, your phone would have been totally fine with a odin restore. (but then again..im a newbie soo yeah )

+1 on the hardware issue. Was your replacement phone from Geek Squad actually a new phone or was it reconditioned? Either way I would reflash the Stock OS, return it to Best Buy and try another replacement. It should not be locking up at the get-go upon receiving a replacement.
Edit: I went thru 6 replacement S4's with VZW before I got a genuine working phone. If you paid for the replacement insurance you are entitled to get a phone that "works" to your satisfaction.
Yeah, I figured that was most likely my only option. I was just hoping I didn't have to deal with Geek Squad anymore haha.
Thanks guys. I appreciate it.

NP, good luck :good:
They're called Geeks for a reason.........
Edit: I would hold off rooting or flashing any custom Rom's until you get a stable replacement running on Stock. Takes less time to switch out another replacement.
Does your screen become unresponsive only when your WiFi is on?

Z2 rebooting automatically

Hey guys I'm new to the forum so go easy on my
So here's the story, last month when the .314 update came I was to impatient to wait until it got the over the air update so I dowloaded it from XDA flashed it using flash tools. I've done the many times before tomy z2 and also to my previous phones and everything went fine. But this time after around 20% of the flashing was complete the completion bar just got stuck there forever. I waited an hour but nothing seemed to be happening so knowing well that it'll brick my phone I unplugged it from the PC. After some googling I found out that there was a new version of flashtools available so I unisntalled my previous version and installed the new one and flashed the same ftf file again. This time to my relief the flashing went normal and my phone was successpfully updated. After a few hours of use my phone just randomly restarted. I didn't pay any attention to it but in the following days my phone started restarting at the most random times around 3-4 times a day. So obviously I knew that something has gone wrong. So I used my booted my phone into safe mode but the problem presisted, I tried doing a hard reset and then I use SUS to repair it but the problem was still there.I even flashed the singtel version of the same firmware version but even then the phone just randomly rebooted. There's nothing wrong with the sim because I switched the sim too (because some people kept insisting that the sim is to blame although I knew in my case that it wasn't) but as I expected the problem presisted. Now I'm at a loss as to what to do.I bought the phone from singapore but right now I don't live there so I can't claim warranty (even if I could).
So I turn to you, the experts in XDA it would be great help if you guys can guid me to a solution or atlesat tell me what the hell is actually wrong with the phone.
Ps: the restarts are entirely random. eg: I can play asphault for hours or shoot 4K for a long time without any problems but then I try texting someone and the phone restarts.

Telephony is actualy the phone part of a smart phone, its sim card slot to the app it self
Usualy when there is a problem with any one of those it will cause a phone to not function properly
In this case yours is one of them
Replacement or repair is needed ;D

I see. Unfortunately the country I live I'm in at the moment doesn't have a sony service centre or anything of the sort so I have to go back to Singapore to actually give it for repairs.
But how is it possible that I got a hardware damage just by a flashing error? I mean before that incident the phone worked just fine for 3 months and I've never dropped my phone or done anything to actually damage it physically.
