I've a branded ACE (italy WIND) with stock 2.3.3 and no upgrade available with KIES.
So today I've started to upgrade my ACE to 2.3.6 downloading from SamFirmware the file S5830DDKQ8 (India).
- first of all I've installed ClockWorkMod 5.0.2.6 modded for ACE
- with CWM I've made a full backup of my phone
- with Odin I've installed the file above: all right. Phone booted with 2.3.6 and looks to work fine.
And now I've made a very STUPID thing !
I've restarted the phone into CWM recovery and I've:
- wipe data/factory reset
- wipe cache
- in Advanced menu: wipe Dalvik and wipe battery stats
Starting from now the phone is in a "loop boot": at power on display show "GALAXY ACE GT-S5430" then "SAMSUNG" (in the center of display) then show animated splash screen and then .... it loop to "SAMSUNG" -> animated splash screen -> "SAMSUNG" ..................
I've tried:
- re-install 2.3.6 : no success -> loop boot
- with CWM made a restore of previous backup: animated splash screen is correctly changed to customized WIND brand but the phone is in loop boot
- with CWM made again wipe data and wipe cache: no success.
Any idea ?
Thanks in advance from a stupid newbie

SO SIMPLE ??????????????????
IT WORKS !!
Because I've no idea how to uninstall CWM, I've simply reinstalled with Odin the version 2.3.6 (it erase CWM and I've access to "stock recovery")
As you suggested I've made a "factory reset" with stock recovery and it works.
CWM buggy ? Can you explain me where is the problem ? I'm curious....

They just work diferrently and for diferent purposes!
Stock rom is meant to work with stock recovery!
Thats why you can only update OTA when you have stock recovery!
I thought it's a filesystem problem?
When you wipe data with Stock, it'll be formatted as rfs, a filesystem that compatible with Stock Kernel
And when you wipe with CWM, filesystem ain't changed
Also, some Odin packages doesn't have data.rfs, so /data isn't formatted and left as it is.

Hi everyone,
I've installed ICS domination theme on my SGS2 with litening rom 6.1 installed on it.
After the installation, i've got a boot loop with a strange pop up which is
" Select an action
----------------------------------------------
Select an application for the USB device."
So I've wiped user data from the CWM recovery and I tried to install back my insecure rom (litening rom) with odin and also the original one.
The phone reboot well but i still get the pop up and i can't do anything ...
Is there a way to format and start from scratch or a another solution to remove this pop up ?
PS: i don't mind losing all my data.
PS2: sorry for the picture's bad quality (i took from my webcam ...)

Thanks for the quick reply !
I said i don't mind (or care) about losing data.
I don't have the mount storage and any format system (otherwise i would have already tried it ) on CWM ... I only get :
-reboot system
-apply update from sdcard
-wipe data/factory reset
-wipe cache partition
My android system recovery is 3e version

Anyway, thanks everyone for answering me !
Hi,
CF rooted today and cheked out supernexus but decided to revert back to my backup (official 4.1). I booted into recovery and did a full wipe, and restored the backup. Upon reboot the boot seems to be stuck at the SAMSUNG logo - it still glows but nothing happens. It's been like this for 10 min. or so!
Would a stock rom Odin flash do the trick or am I screwed...

Hi you are stuck on bootloop
you can flash another firmware to sort this out go to sammobile.com and download a firmware there.. but you have to have an account there so if you don't have one yet, you can register there for free also, after you have downloaded the firmware, use PDA in odin to flash..
i hope this helps cheers!
Thanks guys
Luckily I still had the supernexus rom on my internal sdcard, so I was able to flash that with success. Guess my inital ROM backup was corrupted!
I'm sure the sammobile solution will come in handy next time!
First of all.. hello
Today I installed the dpichanger app from google store. I changed the the dpi and it asked for a restart. After restart its stuck at the yellow triangle. At first I did the following:
Wipe data/Factory reset
Wipe batt stats
Wipe dalvik cache
No luck what so ever. Then I thought I bricked it and decided to install RootBox JB on the device. I did a format system and all the above steps. Status 7 again.
What ca I do?
I was running the stock leaked ICS I9100_CODE_I9100XXLQ5_CL753921_REV02_user_low_ship (GT-I9100-MULTI-CSC-OXALQ5.tar and MODEM_I9100XXLQ5_REV_02_CL1165929.tar too).
CWM is 5.5.0.4. What should I do?
I can't reinstall the images though Odin.... how should I proceed to get my phone back functioning? Is my device bricked....?

Boot to recovery and select wipe cache partition, then advanced and wipe Dalvik, then reboot.
If that doesn't solve it again in recovery wipe data/factory reset, and if that one doesn't work restore the backup you (should have) made before flashing the mod. If you have no backup flash a new ROM, either custom via recovery or stock via Odin will work.
Hi, I'm getting stuck at the black screen just before the boot animation (the one that says "samsung galaxy SIII gt-i9300"), after flashing custom rom via CWM. Maybe I'm a complete noob but I think something is wrong in my phone.
I had installed MIUI official before, then removed it to get warranty back and sent phone to samsung service to fix the my broken simcard compartment.
After getting my phone back, I tried to install MIUI again and got stuck.
The strange thing is how fast ROM is installed in CWM, less than 10 seconds...
No error message and says install is complete
have retried 7 times now, using this:
- Odin 3.04
- CF-Auto-Root (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1957273)
- CF-Root 6.4 - SuperSU+CWM5.5+CWMManager (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1695238)
- ClockworkMod Touch 6.0.3.2 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1719744)
- ClockworkMod 6.0.3.6 - Touch and Non-Touch (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2200501)
ROMs:
- MIUI Official 3.8.16
- MIUI Official 3.7.12
- CyanogenMod 9.1.0 (stable)
what I do:
- boot to bootloader
- flash CF root with Odin (Auto reboot and F.reset Time are checked)
- reboot, then shutdown
- boot to bootloader
- flash CWM with Odin (Auto reboot and F.reset Time are checked) also tried to install with ROM manager
- reboot, then shutdown
- boot to recovery
- wipe data/ factory
- wipe cache
- wipe dalvik
- install zip from sdcard (internal) <-- strange thing here is how fast it is installed, less than 10 seconds...
- wipe data/ factory, cache, dalvik again
- reboot
- got stuck.
- flash samsung stock ROM I9300UBALE6_I9300ZTOALE7_ZTO (brazilian 4.0.4, phone was in that version when installed MIUI first time)
Don't know what to do now, please help!
Does it boot with stock roms?
Please DO NOT flash anything older than 4.1.2 stock...
If all zips opnly take 10 seconds, perhaps theyre getting corrupt on your memory. How are you getting the zips on your phone?

yes, it boot with stock rom.
I just copy/paste files from windows, always done that, but now that you say, md5 is diferent...
I'll check stock ROM and file copy.
Thanks!
It was the file copy messing with the zip...
used adb push and all OK now!
Thanks again!
