[Q] Ad Hoc Mode on ICS - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello XDA Developers and Members,
I hope anyone of u have any Fix for our/my Problem. I need Ad Hoc for my work because there is no mobile internet. I tested so many prof. Fixes that my fingers hurt. Nothing work only on GB 2.3.6 (for me).
Yeah now I get replies like return to GB, never I like ICS. ^^
I tested all "fixes" like ADB Shell Fix and manuall configure a AD HOC but nothing work. Connectify cant find my AVM USB. xD
I tried to compail a wpa_supplicant but than WiFi hangs at Startup.
Greetings to our Members and Developers.

[Q] Ad Hoc Fix

Hello, I've been working all day with ad hoc fixes for the thunderbolt after taking the time to manually root. I've tried wpa_supplicant.zip update and that didn't work on account of edify and i pushed wpa_supplicant to /system/bin and still no ad hoc connection.
The biggest reason is because I bought the AR Drone used and there are all kinds of apps for it to be controlled on the droid. I can't pair it through my router since its DD-WRT and the application to pair the two is windows and I only have a Macbook that has wifi.
Someone please help me fix the thunderbolt so it can find Ad hoc. Thank you!
What if your Thunderbolt was working in infrastructure mode, will the AR Drone work that way?

How do I get infrastructure mode on my thunderbolt?
Sent from my ADR6400L using XDA App
I have had no problems with running wifi tether on my stock rooted TB.
http://code.google.com/p/android-wifi-tether/downloads/list?can=2&q=Generic
wireless_tether_2_0_8-pre1.apk
I did not try encryption, but it worked fine as an AP/infrastructure mode with two computers and the TB.
Sure I have no problem with that either. It's finding ad hoc devices like the Parrot AR Drone is the problem.

I see, so the device has no other means of connecting accept in ad hoc mode.
It's interesting to think that as users we tried to get away from ad hoc. It seemed to be such a limitation with our rooted phones. We all wanted AP/infrastructure mode to connected to wifi only devices that did NOT support ad hoc. Bummer, you would think there would be an easy way to toggle that within wifi tether.
Now of all things, it would not be a very popular option, ad hoc. So... it might not get the attention is deserves

[Q] Ad-HOC activation

Can anyone tell me how to activate ad-hoc wireless on a folio 100 with dexters latest update (1.4)
there appears to be a wp_supplicant.adhoc file in the system/bin directory but i dont know how to use it
I have done this on my galaxy s using a replacement wp_supplicant file but it wont work on the folio.
Hi
mark "active ad-hoc supplicant" or similar (I can´t remember exactly) checkbox in foliowidget. It´s all ;-)
(look for foliowidget in widget´s list, add to desktop and open it, then you´ll be able to open it. It can be opened form widget´s list directly aswell. Don´t forget to give permanent supersuser permissions to foliowidget)

the folio finds my adhoc network but

Hi!
Have you managed to make it work?
I use my HTC Touch HD with WMWifiRouter for creating an ad-hoc wireless network.
My laptop can connect to it fine, and navigate the internet through it, while Folio 100 with Dexter mod 1.3d, connects to it but cannot navigate the internet
Any idea?
Thank You in advance,
Stefano
But this dont run for me, any tutorial to connect to an ad hoc? ?
I used the foliowidget after rooting the phone and it works just fine

I have the same problem. The folio sees the network, connects but.. it cannot get an IP. I'm looking for a solution.
If I can find something, I will post it here. Please post any advances.

the folio searches 2 times for the ip adres and then its connected.
but without wep or wpa otherwise it wont work for me.
(sending ad-hoc with win 7 and win xp)

Reverence for everyone. As this way as in the subject, please for some advice how to include ad hoc on stock rom. I changed files secretly but already all over it wifi didn't join in. How to include ad hoc? what to change secretly so that it searches for the network? I am waiting for the response, I am greeting,
I don't know about ad hoc, but you can use this. It works well
http://www.connectify.me/
it doesn't work unfortunately, isn't searching for my network..

[Q] How to set up a rooted G9 with ICS to see AdHoc

I rooted my Archos 80 G9 to 4.0.5 using the guides here. Thanks to all who wrote them.
I rooted it hoping it could see my adhoc wireless from my rooted Casio GzOne. So far i have not figured out how to share internet with it. The Casio will not send Infrastructure mode so I am at a stand still.
Does anyone know how to make the Archos see a adhoc network?
I need my Transformer Tf101 to see it to.
Donny
I have not been able to do this. I rooted the tablet and it would not work the way it worked on Gen8 Tablet with froyo. So, I downgraded to Honeycomb....I got very close..I can see the Adhoc signal but the signal is very week...and can not obtain ip adress...though it tries to do so....Now I've reverted to ICS since the goal would be to do this on ICS...for most people..but again the same trick half working on Honeycomb is not working on ICS. ICS does not have the tiwlan file as froyo and honeycomb do...
I will keep trying..
meanwhile ....The Bluetooth Tethering is working. ...this can the alternative for people with symbian phone or windows phones. You will need Pdanet for Tablet. If you have an android phones (which usually do not enable DUN by default) then you will need also FoxFi for android.
I know this is not equivalent to Adhoc...but can help those whose need of Adhoc was to connect a phone with not builtin Infrastructure hotspot.

[Q] Ad hoc on Galaxy s3?

Hi. I come from Apple's iPhone, and don't know many things about Android.. One of the annoying "problems" Android software has, is not recognizing ad hoc hotspots... I googled for an answer, and found that there is an app called Wifi Ad Hoc enabler, but is compatible with only 5 or 6 Android devices. So i ask, if there is a way to fix this on my Galaxy s3 and be able to recognize and connect to ad hoc hotspots......
Can't be done yet but apparently some people are working on it.

Thank you for your answer... I suppose, that when a solution is found, it will be posted in this section... Thank you again...
In most cases people whe create/need ad-hoc hotspots, they are trying to tether the phone on the computer's internet connection.
If you're running Windows, try using Connectify on the computer (Windows 7 only). That application will create a real AP hotspot and not ad-hoc connections.

I tried to create a hotspot from my laptop using Connectify, but it sais AP is not supported, so i am still unable to see the wifi from the phone.. I tried creating a hotspot from my iPad, and no luck either . I think it is the same problem with ad hoc...
