Hi,
I've rooted my Flyer after reading several posts. I used the HTCdev way to root. Everything went fine.
Afterwards I wanted to install Leedroid. The red text on the forum post indicated that if the HTCdev way was used i needed to extract the boot.img and flash it using fastboot. Done that, then I wanted to boot into recovery but there is my problem, when i press recovery it shows me the white screen with green HTC letters.
I've tried to flash cwm from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=14693680 using fastboot and it flashed. Still, when I select recovery i still get the white screen with the HTC letters.
Any help what I'm doing wrong?
Ok, I've fixed my problem and got back in my original rom.
What i did was extracting my image from my downloaded RUU and reflashed the boot and recovery images.
Glad I got it working again!

Guys,
I followed this guide to unlock my phone and gain superuser access step by step:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1239821
I then installed Rom Manager, and restarted in Recovery.
I placed this zip: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1421065 onto my SD Card, and did not rename it. Once in recovery I installed that ROM. It installed with no errors however now the phone gets stuck at the htc logo screen.
Any thoughts?
What was contained that .zip file you flashed, and did you make a backup of your system before you flashed?
Sent from my Droid Razr Maxx
Did you wipe data cache and dalvik? If not wipe again. If it bootloops again try pushing the kernel with fastboot.

The .zip contains the following files:
data
devices
kernel
META-INF
sdcard
system
CHANGELOG
check_data_app
mike, can you tell me how to push the update with fastboot, I'm kind of new to all of this telephone wizardry
I can get into FASTBOOT/HBOOT/RECOVERY, however nothing I do seems to help me get past the HTC Logo. Any thoughts? Maybe I'm not waiting long enough? Can someone please tell me exactly what I need to do (if I can even do something). I might just be approaching this whole process the wrong way.
Do I install a ROM from ZIP from Recovery? Do I need to fastboot an .img file first?
Sounds like your hboot 1.5 and your phone is hanging due to you need to place a copy of your recovery in your adb folder...
The while in Hboot
Using adb with phone plugged in and debug turned on
fastboot boot recovery.img
Then wipe and flash the rom you were trying to flash...
You can't just flash a rom with recovery since your s-on
Two methods
One is fastboot boot recovery.img which is easy
Other is boot.img pain in the ass
I tried booting directly into recovery like you just said. I am using TWRP recovery.img file.
Can this be caused by the type of ROM that I am trying to install?
Everything works fine, the .zip gets applied and seems to install correctly, but it still hangs at the htc logo.
I also forgot to mention that originally I used Clockwork Recovery Mod, which i got from the market, and selected the option to boot into recovery. I don't know if that makes any difference.
You should Google shooter ruu. Get back to stock. Retry this with another shot at reading the instructions.
You must plug your phone into pc while in fastboot and give it a command to boot recovery recovery.img .
Then reflash a rom.
Read more I'm hboot 1.4 and I can still flash a 1.5 hboot correctly cause I've read how to.

If u haven't figured it out yet, see if this helps:
[Guide] My Hboot 1.50 HTC Unlock/recovery/rom/kernel flashing notes http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1495358
If u have updated your phone to the newest radio in the 2.17.651.5 update you may have problems if the Rom is based on an earlier kernel/radio like I think Warm is, but I could be wrong.
You may have flashed the Rom incorrectly & not had the kernel get flashed causing the boot loop.

Hopefully some one can help me because my thunderbolt is a paper weight at the moment. I used the android dev method for unlocking my bootloader. All went well and i had a factory reset phone with an unlocked boot loaded. I then used adb and flashed clockwordmod recovery ver. 5.0.2.1. Then used flashboot reboot command to reboot then held vol down and power button and got back into hboot/bootloader/flashboot etc menu. Went to recovery and it went to the white screen then to clockworkmod. I wiped the cache and also the cache in the advanced menu. I then installed liquid ICS. It went through it steps and said it installed correctly. Then I rebooted the phone from clockworkmod and it hung on the white screen. I tried to reboot it a few times with the same result. I then tried to install a gingerbreak rom and had the same affect. I read and dug around and found the stock pg05img and put it on my sd card. I booted back into hboot and it installed checked and installed pg05img. I rebooted again from the Hboot menu and it hung on the white screen again. So now I feel stuck. Is my phone toast. How do I get this thing back on its feet. Ive rooted and installed custom roms on my xoom but I am def a newbie. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks in Advance,
Barry.

With the HTC unlock you cannot flash boot.img's through recovery, so any non sense based and/or non gingerbread roms will not boot. I'd suggest flashing one then getting s-off.

Thanks for the advice! I'm still pretty uneducated when it comes to my thunderbolt. what rom do you reccomend I flash and what procedure should I use now that I am stuck at the white screen?
I tried eternity 8-4 with the same result. I used clockwork to install it and reboot the phone. What am I missing?

With the rom file on the comp. Unzip it, and put the boot.img in the folder with fastboot you used to unlock. Then open that folder and hold shift and right click and click open command prompt here. Then connect the phone in fastboot mode. Once its connected, run
Code:
Fastboot flash boot boot.img
Then
Fastboot reboot
And it should boot. Then use the tbolt tool to get S-OFF

Hi,
I have a Rezound. I can only boot to bootloader screen.
I have flashed the recovery to AMON-RA through fastboot. When I try to get to recovery, nothing happens. When I try to turn of the phone, nothing but black screen.
Fastboot works but I can not get the device recognized through adb.
I tried to flash an ICS RUU but I am getting the errot HBoot is newer than what I am flashing and it fails.
Hboot-2.25
I appreciate any suggestions.
Thank you,
Garry
Update: I was able to flash the latest Rom I am using and it worked but I still get a black screen for everything but the bootloader screen. It makes sounds like the phone is working but I can see nothing.

I sense you are S-ON. You will need to flash the boot.img with fastboot using a computer.
The boot.img will be located in the main directory of the rom's zip. Get on the computer in fastboot and do the command "fastboot flash boot boot.img"
Or flash the Global RUU.. It should have a 2.27 HBOOT
I am s-on. I flashed the boot.img from the computer it didn't change anything. I get the white HTC screen and then nothing.

Hmmm... Try flashing RUU and start from scratch... http://www.androidpolice.com/2012/0...ull-ruu-build-4-03-605-2-for-the-htc-rezound/
This is an exerpt from a previous thread. I am at a loss and ready to junk this phone.

these are the instuctions to Unlock Bootloader > FLASH 4EXT > ROOT > Flash ROM
download hasoon's AiO toolkit and instll the htc usb drivers...
use the toolkit to unlock the bootloader if not go to htcdev.com and follow the VERY easy instuctions listed there... (you can skip the first few about installing android sdk)
after you unlock your boot loader proceed to flash your recovery (id suggest using 4EXT since your prob S-ON)
once you have a custom recovery you can proceed to flash the super SU file including in the aio toolkit
then make a "NANDROID" backup of your phone using 4EXT before you continue to flashing any roms
the rest is simple just download what roms you want and read the instructions to flashing the rom..
------
I have done all of this to the T back when I originally started this thread and now that I tried it again today. When my phone is booted to bootloader using the toolkit it is just a black screen. When I unlock the bootloader using the token I received from the HTC Dev site the toolkit says it was unlocked successfully. I then flashed custom recovery that it says was done correctly. Then when I boot into recovery it is goes to a picture of a phone with a green circle of arrows for 5 seconds then a phone with a red triangle and exclamation point. If I play around mashing buttons I can get into the stock recovery with blue letters and options to restore (doesnt work, many errors) and 4 other options. It is like my screen is messed up and will not show the bootloader/hboot screens. I have never been able to see the screen with the option for fastloader before which other people can see. Does this make any more sense? When I boot my phone it is a black screen until I see the bleedover from the soft keys, then I have to press the power button to turn screen off and back on for the screen to start working. After that it always works fine!?!?!?! What is wrong here?!? Its like I should just load the stock firmware and start all over but I cannot see the screen to select fastloader so it will recognize the PH#### file I have downloaded and loaded onto my SD Card. I am at a loss over here!
How did u flash the recovery? Was it with the all in 1 toolkit?? Are u s-off???
Sent from my Amaze 4G using xda app-developers app
Ok so you flashed 4ext... Now use the toolkit to root the phone... Then flash the appropriate RUU (not just any rom)
(ruu may relock bootloader)
Boot
Try your recovery...
I hope your recovery has your contacts etc but I expect it won't... If you were ics flash ics.. If you were gb you can flash either..
Boot... Fingers crossed...
If you are s-off and rooted.. Unlock CID (sticky)
If everything has worked you should be Ok.....
Also if you are lucky Google will have copy's of your contacts and calendar etc thanks to autosync
e-Sex.. All of the carpral none of the tunnel
SOLVED
Hey, I have htc evo 3d gsm (shooteru). I unlocked the bootloader using htcdev.com and installed clockworkmod recovery. Then I changed cid to HTC__001 and tried to flash a gingerbread ROM in preparation for using the flashmaniac tool to downgrade my hboot (1.53.0007 -> 1.49.0007).
But when I tried to flash the gb rom the recovery said that installation finished but the phone did nothing after reboot. So I took out the battery and went into bootloader and everything looked the same as before the flash attempt. So I tried once again with same result. Then I powered off the phone and now when I turned it on again it only shows the HTC logo for a few seconds and then nothing (the buttons at the bottom have their lights turned on though).
Any ideas?
Yes, hboot version not compatible with gb rom, and or boot partition didn't get flashed. Unlocked but s-on doesn't let boot partition have write if booted into recovery in a normal way.
So yoy can get boot.img from install zip and flash with fastboot
fastboot flash boot boot.img
Or you can reinstall from recovery if booted from fastboot command.
fastboot boot recovery.img

Somehow got it at least to bootloader, no idea how, just tried taking out battery a few times and charging it a bit and it worked.
Thanks for the advice, didn't realize there was a difference between these flashing methods.

I know , it just didn't work for some reason before.
So I flashed the boot.img and now it's stuck in a boot loop. Tried going to cwm recovery and wiping various caches etc and flashing again, and flashing boot.img again but it still goes into boot loop.
I would just use the flashmaniac's tool anyway because I don't care about any data on the phone or anything, but it seems that it requires the phone to be booted before it can start the downgrade.
What should I do? Try to flash other roms maybe? The one that I have now is EU_Shooter_U-1.20.401.8_ROOTED.
So I extracted a rom.zip from a RUU but it won't flash from cwm "Can't open /sdcard/rom.zip (bad)", should I try to flash it with adb/fastboot? I'm worried that the zip may be broken (even though archive manager integrity check says its fine).
Would this work with shooteru/GSM?
[TOOL] Ultimate Recovery Tool 3.1 (Unbrick, Downgrade, VM Radio Fix/Reset)
I'm thinking it might be a way to sidestep the boot loop problem that I have now, just relock the bootloader and follow the instructions until I get HBoot 1.40.something like the guy in the video?
Do I need some special drivers when using the RUU executables on Windows?
So I've got it to work. The problem was what jcfunk said (both of the things he mentioned, actually), I was trying to flash a GB rom when I should have tried an ICS rom instead (lol). After going to ICS RUU, I did the wire trick (unlimited.io) and now everything works nicely and I can get the latest roms.
Glad to hear.
