How come the battery stops charging at 98% I've wiped battery bin and Ive been through three cycle's I let my battery drain down until the evo shuts off and then I remove the battery and putt it back in and power up on to see if it will turn on and it doesnt then I plug it in and let it charge while the evo is powered off and I would let it charge until I see the green light and then I power up only to find out it stopped charging at 97% hmmm thats very strange why is that ?

fyi...the battery fully charges to 100% and then starts discharging back down to about 95/97% and then back up when it is plugged in. safety feature so you don't fry the battery. it is normal.
Ok thanks for the reply

When the battery reaches 98% unplug your charger and then reconnect it. It should take about 30 to 40 min to hit 100%.

For some odd reason my phone won't charge past 98%?
I've tried clearing the battery stats but no change.
Any recommendations? I know its only 2% so its not much of a big deal.
Download Battery Calibration from the market and see what it says that your mv level is. it should be at or very close to 4200mv. Charge it over night and when you wake up check it to see what the max is...then hit Battery Calibration and don't charge it till it dies. My suggestion is to use it normally for the day and then play games or watch videos when you are ready to kill it. once you kill it let it charge all the way up again, then see what it charges to.
I'll let you know how it works out in a day or so.

Even when it says 100% it may not be charged all the way. Better to go by mV, 4200mV being full charge.
u don't have to download anything. just go into dialer and type in *#*#4636#*#* and open battery info. if u fully charged your phone, it should be at 4200mV. leave it plugged into the ac charger and remove the battery. hold in the volume down button and enter android recovery. erase battery stats then insert battery and reboot. should be fixed.
Hey guys, I have a GSM evo 3d and yesterday my battery started acting really weird...
Whenever I restart my phone, it would decrease by 10%. So I started testing by restarting nonstop. The first few times the battery decreased from a 90% to a 60% after about 3 restarts. Then after that it would decrease by a 2~3% each restart. So I drained the battery yesterday evening and charged it overnight. By this morning ( 8 hours of charging ) the LED turned green as usual...then I tried restarting. Bam, instant drop to 88%. Now after restarting multiple times, my battery history graph has a bunch of random drops...(for nerds, there are many points where the derivative does not exist LOL)
This is already the second day this is happening...please help me out.
Another issue is, whenever I restart my phone and it's on the white screen with green HTC letters, the red LED light stays on for around 3 seconds. I'm using LeeDroid 2.0.0 if anyone is wondering.
Thanks!
What battery are you using?
I would start by letting the phone die, have it auto shut off. Then charge it and have it on when it is charging, have it go till the green light comes on and then some. Then let it die agien and fully charge it one last time. Let it drain slowy and with normal use.

I'm using the factory battery that came with the phone.
I'll give that a try tonight.
Did you already tried to calibrate your battery when charged to 100 percent?

Yeah I did, and I am suspecting that is what caused all this since I just calibrate it a day before this started happening.
When charging my phone the light turns green when the battery reaches 91. How can I get it to charge fully so I can calibrate my battery?
Sent from my PG06100 using XDA Premium App
When this happens, I simply unplug it...wait a few seconds then plug it back in and it goes to 100.
When I do that the light still remains green. Does yours do that as well?
Sent from my PG06100 using XDA Premium App
I have never heard that the battery stop charging at 91% . It usually around 98, 99%. But as the other guy said unplug and plug it back the light will turn orange again and charging till 100%. According to HTC if battery stops charging b4 100% it means that the battery is over heating.
I unplugged it then plugged it back in, and it worked. However, it has been at 99% for awhile now. It wont go to 100%. Could that just be bc it needs to be calibrated?
Sent from my PG06100 using XDA Premium App
No, it is to prevent overcharging.
The battery gets to just before 100% and then stops charging. It then stays on the green light until it runs down to about 90%, and then starts charging again.
When you've seen it at 91% with the green light on, it's in it's run down phase before it starts charging again.
leave it a little longer and when it's around 98/99% unplug it.

This is a issue only on AOSP. I've noticed this while using CM7. I'm going to post this issue in toast thread and see what kind of answers I get.
My "DU4L C0R3 SH00T3R" shot you down in 3D! Screw Tupac. "A,O,S,P BACK!" >_<
This happens on the stock ROMs as well. At least, the GSM 3D and Sensation both display this behaviour on stock ROMs.

Welcome to the world of lithium Ion batteries.
Hi all,
Wanna ask did u all facing the same problem with me, when I charge my phone battery to 100% the charging will stop and the battery will drop until 80% the charging will start again is it normal or my phone problem .. need advised
Sent from my HTC EVO 3D X515m using xda premium
mine does the same but only drops to 90.. i think it does that so we dont fry our batterys when we leave them on the charger to long..

I'm facing battery issues from few days, my 3d would charge fine till the battery level reaches around 80% but then the level doesnot want to rise up.After a reboot it shows battery level around 98%. Also my battery charges above the max limit I.e. between 4350-4355mv when it reaches near 99% but it never goes to 100% . Is it the battery issue or is it my cable which is wearing out from the ends ?
Everything was working fine before few days . No issues , with the weared out cable.
Will the battery swell if I continue to charge it at this voltage ?
Are you using the stock battery ??

Hello!I have a simple question.I have rooted my EVO 3D and I have installed this ROM http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1604500.Ever since then, after overnight charges,in the morning the LED that indicates charging is green but when I start the phone I see the battery is between 65-70% charged.I believe this is software related. Is there anything I can do about this? Also, when I plug it in,the red LED goes on,then shuts off, then goes back on.Is there any problem with my phone or ROM?Thanx
no one>?
Have you tried resetting your battery stats? if that dousn't help: Try reflashing the rom

Hi! I am not positive about this but i heard that if you don't charge your phone 100% before installing a rom or the battery % before installing the rom will be the highest the charging goes too. Hoped this helped!

I've had the same problem I let my battery drain down to 15% and then I deleted the battery stats and I let it charge 98% and I've found that the EVO has a charging script of some kind that want let the EVO charge to 100% and that also keeps it from over charging so for me to charge to 100% when it stops at 98% I have to unplug and plug it back in and then it will charge to 100% I hope this helps
Sent from my HTC EVO 3D X515m using xda premium
My evo charges to a 100% without any issues. I've had to do the unplug and replug for like the first 3 months of having the phone. Now it charges regularly. Also I've never wiped battery stats.
#Root-Hack_Mod*Always\
Dai un wipe la battery stats.
Asa imi face si mie.
well heres what my evo does... i charge it to 100% and aprox 5-10 minutes at a time it goes down in percentage 99% 98% 97% the lowest i have seen it go is 95%
i've reset the battery stats occasionaly and we all know when you flash a new rom and wipe battery stats go with all the cleaning
i also got a new anker battery
let me know!
I have done the wipe battery stats thingy(which involves charging to 100,wipe stats for recovery, let it drain to 0,charge to 100) and it still makes this annoying thing. If it's off it only charges to 65%,if it's on,it goes all 100.What can I do?
I am running Shooter BEATS NG
Flash another Rom and see what happens
sent from my EVO 3d x515m s off using xda premium
I had the draining to 95% when charged problem until I flashed the new ICS ROM leak, now my Evo charges to 100% and stays there.
