I was wondering which kernel was the best to use? I do not want to install a custom rom but have a CWM just to add the MODS and such. My choices so far are the:
FXP Kernel
Rage Kernel
X Kernel
Kamrush Kernel
Bbooff Kernel
Can anyone tell me which ones saves the most battery and the fastest? Thanks

As for the fastest Rage kernel supports upto 2Ghz Overclocking, however it's not advisable to scale the processor that high. You can scale upto 1.6Ghz safely though, and there is a version available which can scale safely to 1.6Ghz.
As for battery endurance, you know overclocking and battery life don't go hand in hand. However you can try several CPU governors. Here is an excellent guide

Sorry man, can't post links yet.
Maybe you should choose boff kernel, since it only add root and cwm. If you dont need overclock and other things

X kernel supports also til 2Ghz.
My opinion, is that X kernel has more modifications to make it better than Rage Kernel.

I have used all those kernel you mentioned, but x kernel is awesome.
Kamrush Kernel is really good
I tried bbooff then rage and then x.
Went back to rage.
Hybroman v16 was released, flashed back x.
Never changed it since...
curently using rage kernel. I wil try x too.
bboof + hybrom this simple rom minimalis
X kernel is really good, less than 1% battery per hour, overclock, governors, schedulers, everything working
Krsh kernel is really good, less than 1% battery per hour, overclock, governors, schedulers, everything working
I really couldn't find a difference between those two kernels, X kernel is more recent, since kamarush is now doing ICS (and he's doing an excellent job )
bboof is really good, less than 1% battery per hour, everything working
pretty much stock, only allows root, cwm, etc. very good choice for hybrom. might be best for people who don't like to go too much into technical details
I'll go for Kamarush Kernel or Rage Kernel on stock ROM..
or else if u use Custom ROM like Hybrom, or sumthing else, just follow the suggested kernel there..for example i'll use Bbooff Kernel for Hybrom, and Kamarush Kernel for MiniCMSandwich..

I personally use hybrom v15 with x kernel. Currently the most stable ROM according to me.
MIUI has nice interface, but has still quite a lot of bugs and not everything works. Also CyanogenMod.

I saw before that you were using Rage Kernel, is X Kernel better?
I am currently using Rage Kernel.
Is X Kernel much more battery efficient and better performance compared to Rage Kernel?
I have used rage kernel, x kernel, krsh kernel and bbooff kernel on my live with walkman. x kernel is the best, seems to me.
I also want ot know the best rom for live.
sorry for my english.
I,ve using Hybrom V15 with Rage kernel.
Sometime it abit laggy when your phone on a high temperature. (I've OC to 1.2 Ghz :\)
I think I should try x kernel when I'm less lazy.
PS. If you want a stable ROM. I prefer stock over Hybrom.
I already used hybrom, xrom and miuiv4 and the best from depends on your needs and likes if you want a stock from feeling go for hybrom very stable , xrom is pretty but has some bugs and miui is still beta but with a really nice interface rc0 kernel is giving me and average battery life. Never really tried cm7 or cm9 cause there is no stereo speakers and about kernels for me the rage kernel was the best.
Take into account that everyone has different experiences with roms and so, so the more stable is always stock, if no rom convince you just stick with with stock and try a custom kernel with it.
thank u guys. im sticking with stock until a stable rom comes along.
I use hybrom + x kernel
I am currently using Hybroman V15, used boof kernel then changed it to rage kernel.
Saw here in xda that x kernel seems to be the best.
Installed x kernel and tried to flash the zram but caused bootloops, never gets past bootanimation.
Had to reflash X kernel then install Hybroman again, so far so good...
Hybrom is currently stable ROM.
I haven't noticed big difference between X kernel and Rage kernel at the moment.
Haven't tested battery life difference.

Hybrom is great but when i tried MIUI beta, is the best for music lover..
Hybrom stable, fast, useable..
MIUI true clear bass, stable when i used normally, fast with antutu cpu master..

Im planning to have mine Hybroman 16 + X Kernel Combo...
X Kernel Is the Best among the Feedbacks so Far... Please add more feedbacks.. thanks...

Staying on stock rom and kernel is fine but if you want to extract a few more juice out of your phone and set things up a few notch higher; installing customized item is the answer. Improved battery life, bravia display, OC feature, new UI, etc. In the end all falls on the user preference as they say.
I too recommend that stock ROM is the best and almost bug free.

I think if u wanna try something more try X Kernal n Hybrom.. I have tried many ROM even the ICS ones this combination gives me hell of a good battery life... n I am not saying that this ROM is 100% stable sometimes gives away but okey
As the title says, which is the best combo rom (gingerbread roms only, I don't like ICS!) + kernel is the most battery friendly? (I'm on XM)
Now I'm on CM 7.2 with rage kernel but I' ve thought about flush 6.5
Thanks everybody!
Which phone?
From what I have heard, Spartan and Hybrom seem to be most battery-friendly GB ROMs, but I occured some bugs on Spartan and currently using stock system at all.

The only thing I didn't like about my stock is that battery didn't last long
Now I've flashed flush 6.5 ... I' ll say to you how it is about battery and performance

Untouched ROM.
Tried all ROMS available for Xperia Mini with all possible kernels.
I think the best combination for Batter life is
NeroDroid Rom with X Kernel.
Set these frequencies
Min 134Mhz
Max 1.0 Ghz.
Smartassv2 Governor
I/O Schedulers - deadline
You are already the second who says to me to try nerodroid and x kernel...so...I'm doing it
Flush sucks, gps doesn't work and the developer doesn't want believe me

but X kernel do reboot my phone... mini pro, i dont know why!!! since tha day i installed it.
I use Clean 'n' Tweaked - 4.0.2.A.0.69 - v4.1 with X kernel 2.6.32.59
Don't forget to flash the apropriate x-kernel wlan module AFTER installing the target ROM in CWM.
Standby battery drain is around 1% every 3h without 3G. I use SetCPU to switch CPU frequencies and Governor when the display goes off:
Display on: CPU: 249 - 1017 Governor: smartassV2
Display off: CPU: 134 - 364 Governor: ondemand
This way i have great performace when i operate the Phone and low power consumption when using it as mp3 player.

I'm using Rage 2.8 on Spartan ROM 2.0
134Mhz-1Ghz smartassv2 or brazilianwax
Scheduler is SIO
I've used Xkernel before Rage 2.8 came out, because I felt it was more batt friendly. But with v2.8 I think that Rage is way better. Battery life is great!
Especially with Spartan ROM since it comes with minimal app load, and is tweaked and fast as hell
I never flashed my kernel before with my previous phone (htc desire).
It seems more important for these xperia phones, is this correct? I 'm currently the owner of a Mini Pro.

Some custom roms require custom kernels, that's why they are needed sometimes, or you can use em on stock rom to increase performance, battery life, to have recovery installed, etc...
Ok, so I can not find more informations about kernel comparison, and I wanted to know the differences between theses 3 kernels:
VDS Kernel
Flykernel
SirKay's one
These three famous kernels are always linked but I do not understand the differences. Sirkay's one seem to be fully tweaked and all, but this is chinese to me.:silly:
Moreover, for a non gaming / Smooth / Great battery experience, which one should be used ?
Thanks in advance !
Do they ALL not state what is included, what isn't, what they're good for etc etc etc? Just try them and see.
Yeah, just saying that I'm a big noob in kernels... Understood that SirKay's one is fully charged of tweaks, and Vds is the lighter one, but can't figure what does Flykernel, what's inside and the main differences...

Xkernel only some important tweaks like init.d,oc 1.6ghz,uv and also ext filesystem..
Vds is stock kernel with oc only

Hello. sorry if it has been already posted, but I want only "up-to-date" answers.
I have some questions:
1. Which is the best governor to use ( for this kernel ) for a balance between battery and performance ( I use lulzactive right now, I heard that it's very good for a balance between those two but it seems like ondemand is doing a lot better when it comes to battery life )
2. I don't mind OC'ing the CPU but the GPU yes. I want to play games such as Real Racing 3 with acceptable FPS, so I need a boost for the GPU. What settings to use here?
Thanks.
Ondemand and row.
Don't know what governor does Siyah have, but you need to try out "cfq" scheduler with "slp" governor.I think only Apolo kernel has that.
what do you mean by 'row' ?
@GamingDj siyah kernel governors:
ondemand
pegasusq
lulzactive
lulzactiveq
conservative
Scheduler row
Gov ondemand
Andrew is right...from these Row with ondemand is the best. Are you on Stock ROM 4.1.2? If so,then I recommend you trying out Apolo.Maybe extreme v0 or Regular.
Thanks.
I may try thoses ROM but I enjoy the stock ROM, I would change it just for better performance in gaming ( and as I know, the ROM's aren't for that )
edit: oops Apolo is a kernel.. well, as I know, the Siyah Kernel is the best for this phone, isn't it?
but still: no overclock settings for the GPU?

I think dorimanx is the best. It's siyah based and updated alot by a cracking dev
i may give it a try. let's hope it's better.
If you like stock then you should try out alliance or biftor ect ect. These are custom stock roms that work lovely and if you mix it up with a little dorimanx you end up with a kick ass phone. Not to put down Apollo kernel as that is really good for battery but Dori is better for tuning cpu/gpu ov/uv.

With siyah kernel flashed in ur phone u get an app called extweaks or stweaks. This app too was developed by gokhan moral. U can go to GPU tab and change the GPU frequency step. Be careful and don't go beyond 400mhz. It may heat up your phone very much. I use this settings for increasing the smoothness of the phone. And one more thing. Gradually increase the steps.Don't keep the 1st step as 300 or 400. I recommend 160 or 200.

is the stock ROM that bad? i see that you insist changing it.. as i said: i would change the ROM only if it has performance improvements ( in games, because the stock ROM is doing pretty good in others ) but as I know ROM's aren't for gaming.

Just remember that siyah is for stock and not cm/aokp roms. Dorimanx is for both. 8.xx is stock and custom and 9.xx is for custom only.
I use siyah kernel. But u can download stweaks in play store too. The link for steps is here. Be careful as ur hands might get burned. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1657491
I understand that you can use siyah with cm/aokp but not supported by dev. Dorimanx is a much safer bet for stability

Welcome to XDA, I see you are new, but here on XDA "best" threads are found useless, as everyone have different opinion on best rom/kernel.
You will find best rom/kernel, by simply trying them out and finding which one best suits your needs.
Usually, people can help you if you specify what exactly you need from rom/kernel and by that I don't mean " I need it fast/stable" kind of specification
Oh and yes, 1.8GHz is a bit to much for this phone, just for your information 1.4GHz was sometime useful but 1.8GHz..no point really.

Hi there. I think that CyanogenMod 11 from LegacyXperia Project is one of the best ROMs and I advise you to use it with Dark Kernel.
Also I prefer using Android 2.3 because it's faster. One of my favorite ROMs is Gin2KitKat.
