I had that on my phone (Samsung Fascinate running cm9). I tried everything, and eventually reinstalled from scratch.

Fixed on mine by clearing data on Google service framework app and google play app
Instructions: use Nt hidden settings to go to Application settings, then manage applications, then select all, and clear data for the above two mentioned apps, reboot and on startup try again.

Hi all,
I somehow managed to break my Market App. Whenever I try to download an app (even free ones). I receive the following error: "error processing purchase".
I backed up my ROM with CWM and reset my Tab to factory default. I am able to download again. However I'm hoping that someone can send me the stock Android Market App, so I don't have to start customizing all over again.
Thanks in advance!
I spent hours trying to fix this and finally came to the solution. Clearing the market cache and removing your Google account must be done concurrently. If all else fails, remove your Google account, clear the cache for the market, and clear all cache and data from all applications and services that use the market icon. This is kind of like hunting a rabbit with a bazooka, but it'll git'er done.
To re-hash concisely:
Be aware: if steps 1, 2, and 3 don't work, step 4 can solve your problem ( it did for me ), but it may cause adverse effects or problems ( I'm not sure ).
1) Go to settings --> Account & Sync --> Click your Google account --> and click remove in the upper right hand corner of the screen.
2) Go to settings --> Applications --> Manage Applications --> Click the "All Applications" tab --> and then scroll until you find "Market". Choose "Clear Data".
3) Make another attempt to download or purchase an app.
If you still receive the error message:
4) Repeat steps 1 & 2 , but in addition to clearing the market cache ( which happens in step 2 ), look for any applications that seem related to the market ( there were multiple services and programs I found ) and clear the data/cache for all of them. When this step is completed, your tablet will reinitialize upon exit. You may receive a notification or error.
5) Restart your tablet, click the market, and you will be prompted to add a Google account. Sign in and accept the terms!!!
Hope this works!

error on market app
Im getting crazy as I can´t download any market app at all.
The first time I installed (3.3 bl1.1), I got 6 apps downloaded form the market app, and then suddenly stop saying and error purchasing even free apps. After hours trying to change settings now the market app even doesnt open saying that cannot get info from the server!!!
Tried to clear cache, wipe data and even reinstall the rom, but the same thing happens now after just 1 download from the android market, it says "error purchasing" a free app..
I really loved this ROM, but this is a crucial feature, can someone post an workaround for this ?
This happened to me after restoring a nandroid. In the end I ended up reflashing and restoring my user app data from TitaniumBackup. Problem solved. Good Luck

You could try to restore with TTB or uninstall and install a fresh apk. Or make a new nandroid backup, flash an older working Android backup, copy the apk onto your SD card, restore the broken nandrod backpup, uninstall market, use root explorer to move the working market apk to system/app and reinstall it from there.

I had the same issue happened to me. A workaround that worked for me is using the web market. Try that, it should work. The only thing is that it wont install automatically. After downloading from the web market I had to go to the market native app and search again for the app i just dl. Now the market native app would display Install instead of download.
That was the only way to dl the app.
Then I had issue with battery drainage, So decided to flash it back to stock and no more problems with the market.

" error processing purchase" solution that worked for me
Hi.
I'm new to the forum. I just bought my first tablet. A Viewsonic GTablet that was rooted to Honeycomb 3.0. First thing I found out about it was that I couldn't download free apps from the Market. I could get the paid ones however. I could also download free ones from Amazon. So I googled and googled and read the posts here and elsewhere and tried most of the fixes but I was as frustrated as all of us. So I thought that maybe there would be a newer version of Market that had bug fixes and so on and I found
It's version 3.0.26. I was trying to post the link but they tell me as a new member of the forum I'm not allowed to post outside links yet. Cool. The link was actually to a RapidShare site if your trust them. It was free. It was easy to just gmail it to myself and on my Viewsonic I found it in the Download folder and did the install. Sure enough I'm now a happy camper. First thing I got was Flash Player of course. I want the SiriusXM app but I installed it and log in and get the "checking for updates" that never ends. But that's a different topic.
By the way. I did email Android Market support and they got right back to me and said that they were working on it. I sent them my update that I am posting here.
The Market sometimes just has issues. As others have said clearing cache can help. Other times the only thing to do is wait and try to repurchase again later.

cheers mate. I did steps 1,2 and 3 and market is working fine again
it worked for me for a day and the issue came back again.
darn frustrating
I get no love with the Jamesyboy fix.
Seems a common enough problem, but no solid fix after all this time.
---------- Post added at 05:33 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:49 PM ----------
Found a real fix.
Install new market.apk from
http://www.arctablet.com/assets/apps/Android_Market_v3.1.5.apk
and install.
Then hunt down and uninstall the old faulty market app.
To do that, if you click the "Market" label at the top right of the "Apps" screen the system will prompt you to complete action with...
That will tell you the name of the old market app to go find and uninstall.
The Market backend (not your Tab or other device) is the problem. They've been getting a huge response to those $0.10 apps, and it's revealing some issues with the servers.
settings- privacy- factory data reset. then when it reboots wipe data for market. it's been working for me so far for a few hours. it hasn't updated to google play store yet tho, i don't know why and don't care as long as i can download apps.
Market Legacy Will cause this
if you use the google play legacy app to see what apps you have installed previously it will break in-app purchases. Uninstall and wipe normal market cache
Also try clearing media cache
I periodically have the Google Play Store get stuck on "Installing..." when I try to install an app (JellyBean, different tablet tho). I've done Clear Data for it & the Google Play Services as suggested above. But what I also needed to do was Clear Data on Media Storage. I have a large (~40GB) side-loaded MP3 collection, and the media crawler sometimes gets bogged down causing problems for everything (including Camera, which is apparently connected to Gallery, which apparently uses the media crawler). Of course, after you do this you will need to be patient (and perhaps reboot?) while it re-indexes your media.
i see..
Is anyone else having issues with the play store? I can't download any apps or update them... It says "downloading..." and never gets to the part where it shows how much has been downloaded. I restarted my phone... No luck. My Internet works fine, the browser works great, but no Play Store. Is this a widespread issue? I'm on Charmeleon ROM. Had no issues before with it, and I've had it for days. Thanks everyone!

i was having the same problem until now it just started working out of no where all i did was power off. then hold down volume down and power until you get to the hboot screen chose fastboot then reboot.
I wiped everything and flashed a new ROM for the heck of it. Works perfect now. I have a feeling it was just Google Play being a brat. I think the timing was coincidental. But who knows?

You had luck. Wife's HTC Desire stucks in "downloading...".
I tried:
- kill, clear data, uninstall updates (Google Play/Market, Downloading service, Market updating service)
- change user password
- restore phone to default
- revert phone/flash to system default (using HTC updater, then applied HTC's oficial OTA updates)
And Google Play is not working. Big issue is that more services are not working, including Maps, Chrome2phone. After resetting phone to default few minutes is Market working (until it downloaded update to Google Play).
But "Talk" is working fine. Home WiFi (no restriction) or 3G. Second Android phone on same WiFi and same 3G works without issues.
I've had that a few times but just hit cancel update then hit update again then it worked. I am more frustrated that apps don't download/update when u leave the market before they are done or turn your screen off

I too am having same issues. I can get Play to run but it will lock up past that. Browser blank as well. Wiped cache and etc, issue repeats.

I had the same issue too, stuck at the "Downloading...." so i tried to uninstall the update through "System > Application > All > Google play store" but it got stock again while uninstalling the google play. so i used titanium backup and did "Wipe data" (Do not uninstall from titanium backup since it will remove the whole thing not just the update)
then went back to "System > Application > All > Google play store" and did an uninstall. so it removed the update only.
I started the program and got the message telling me that google market is now called google play store... blah blah..
the version became 3.5.x (cannot remember) and it worked great...
after a while it updated it self to the latest (3.8.17) at the time of writing this, and it still works and I can download and install apps.
:good:
BTW, i am have a Samsung Galaxy Note (from AT&T) running 4.0.4
(i reached this thread while googling for the problem, but hopefully the same solution will apply to other phones)
Also: clear media cache
Another thing that helped me with this problem (different device, admittedly) is to clear the media cache (Settings -> Apps -> All -> Media Storage -> Clear Data). You wouldn't think that this would affect the Google Play store, but I have a large side-loaded MP3 collection & sometimes media crawler problems affect just about everything.
just follow this
do this
Make sure you've cleared the cache and data of both the Google Play store app and the download manager. Here's how:
Visit Settings > Apps on your device
View All apps
Select the Google Play store app, and then tap Clear data and Clear cache.
Then, select Download manager and tap Clear data and Clear cache.
it came for google online support
YES! Can't install/update apps
I am having this same issue. My HTC Droid Incredible 2 has been rooted, and running Gingerbread 2.3.4. Google Play store was operating as it should. Today I installed a build of Cyanogenmod 10 (update-cm-9.0.0-RC0-vivow-BRACKETKANG-04_08_12-signed-v.3) with Jellybean (Android 4.1.1). I flashed the corresponding gapps download (gapps-jb-20121011-signed.zip) from cyanogenmod.org. This is the thread I used to do this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1779986
I have re-flashed the gapps, cyanogenmod, and even tried various other cyanogenmod and gapp versions. I can not download or update apps. I accepted the terms, etc and it says downloading indefinitely. I have tried emptying the cache, force closing, reinstalling Google Play. I have also downloaded older versions of the app. Currently, I have version 3.9.16 installed. I have been using clockworkmod to install cyanogenmod and gapps, if that is helpful information.
I have scoured the internet looking for a solution. I am not allowed to post on the above mentioned thread, I guess I haven't posted on XDA enough in order to have access. If there is anymore information I can provide that would make it easier/possible to solve this problem, please let me know!
Thank you very much,
Darman

Hi Guys
I'm getting the attached error whenever I try to open Google Playstore from my cell.
I'm on Poland LIB firmware.
Things I've tried :
1) clear cache and data
2) Uninstalled updates
3) installed the latest update of Playstore
4) added a new Id (same error)
5) remove and add the previous Id
Gmail is working fine but playstore is giving me this trouble from past 12 hours.
I can log in to play.google.com without any issues.
Currently I'm accessing it through Mobile Data and have no other connection to check this if it's a connection issue or Playstore issue.
I've done no changes to anything and it was working perfectly fine till yesterday evening.
It started giving me this error all of a sudden
Help please.

I am currently suffering from this same problem. Tried everything you have. Even cleaned data/cache then disabled google play store and rebooted phone. Re-enabled play store, tried to open it... stuck loading. Recleared everything, installed google play from apk, reopen. Still stuck loading after re-entering all information. I have had different apps stop working and had to uninstall them. Reinstalling worked on other apps but when it's playstore system apps turn to fail, can't uninstall fully.
I'm rooted so I uninstalled google play with android tuner app i have bought a while ago. I rebooted the phone and did get LG security error. Sadly when google play was reinstalled, this has not fixed the problem. I am doing a factory reset. Using titanium backup and a external sd card, so restoring my apps wont be too tedious. I feel bad if anyone else encounters this problem. I still don't know how it happen.

The specifics may vary, but some general pointers to get the playstore working correctly:
1- first force stop the app when clearing cache and data, , and also do it for google play services and google services framework. Reboot with mobile data and wifi off, turn wifi or data on, then try to open playstore again.
2- repeat step 1, but also remove and add again your google account from settings before opening the playstore.
Make sure you're not using firewall apps or ad blocking apps to reestrict data on google play services, once playstore is up and running you can enable them again.
Make sure you're not using autostart managers or apps like greenify on playstore, google play services, or google services framework. You can apply them again afterwards.
Good luck.
QUICK AND DEFINITELY WORKING FIX: Just clear Google Play data and reboot. Then change your Google login password and let the device ask for new password.
Force sync and all will be back to normal....

Accidentally cleared Google Services Framework/Now can't access Play Store & Internet
Hey guys so I encountered this problem because I was trying to get rid of an error popping up every time I open wifi on my phone, it was something like gapps stopped working and that would go on 3-4 times in 1 minute intervals every time I turn on wifi.
So I read something saying that you should just clear the data on a couple of internal apps on my device like the google play store and other apps similar to the Google Services Framework found on the ALL tab on manage apps.
So I proceeded to uninstall the updates on Google play store, I even uninstalled Google Play Services completely since it was just huge, then when I cleared the data for Google Services Framework when I tried accessing the Play Store, I wasn't able to. It just said Server error, even if I keep retrying it just won't connect. Same thing applies to cloud to device updates or basically anything that I can do with an internet connection that I previously had.
I was just wondering if anybody can help me solve this one.
I'm running a custom rom from Destructo570, the Extremis 2.1
Thanks in advance devs, as always.
You can try restoring the stock rom
