[Q] Samsung Vibrant: flashed ics, but problems - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I flashed the ICS Euphoria ROM for Samsung Vibrant, but now I cannot connect to wifi and my phone doesn't pick up my network (neither does it search for it). I have not flashed the kernel yet because I do not know what I need to wipe in CWM Recovery before installing it.
So how do I flash the kernel, and how do I get my wifi and mobile network working again?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
EDIT: i flashed the kernel after wiping dalvik cache, but its still not picking up my network or wifi
EDIT2: WIFI works now (I was dumb) but still no carrier signal. It just says No Service. Please help.
EDIT3: turned out it was the ICS Euphoria ROM that was at fault; i have Passion now and it works fine.
RESOLVED BY MYSELF. THANKS FOR THE HELP

How did you flash and what baseband are you running? I did a factory reset, flashed stock recovery, flashed stock 354 rom, flashed streakmod recovery, flashed 1.9.1, then did a Dell factory reset. Sounds worse than it really is. I haven't experienced your problem (nor other problems posted by other users) and can only assume that flashing over a fresh stock rom install in some way helps.
Did a cursory test of wifi tethering and it seems to work fine.
Paired my old iphone 3g and browsed a bit and no hitches.
Have you tried doing a factory reset? Installing streakdroid leaves all data in place so reinstalling is only half of it

Im pretty sure did the same thing more or less.. i forgot to mention that it used to work until i tried to create a password for users to connect, upon trying to change or enable a wep code, the activity crashed and since then, it gave me errors everytime i try to enable tethering...

[Q] No WiFi after flash.

Been looking for a solution for the past 12 hours and have not found any.
Bought a stock i777 with 2.3.4, flashed with SGH-I777_ClockworkMod-Recovery_5.0.2.3 and a stock 2.3.5 AT&T ROM. After ANY kernel is flashed, I seem to lose WiFi capability. I have 5 wireless points near my house and it just gets stuck on "Scanning" and then the WiFi turns off. No points are even listed!
Currently running CW 5.0.2.3 kernel, 2.3.5 AT&T stock ROM, UCKJ1 baseband, kernel 2.6.35.7.
TL-DR - Flashed and lost wifi ability.
Which 2.3.5 ATT stock rom is this that you're referring to? Have a link to where you got it from?
I believe I got it from here: androidadvices.com/update-samsung-galaxy-s2-i777-gingerbread-235-firmware/
Did it work initially when you went to 2.3.5? You said you've tried some different kernels, at what point did you notice the wifi broke?
I even reflashed using kernel + non-rooted system package located in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1286432
Still no WiFi showing. Just says "scanning" then the wifi shuts off.
Update: Flashed Entropy512's stock package + nonrooted with no luck. No wifi. Flashed zetamax kernel after. Still no wifi.
Showed at that time: version 2.3.4, 1777UCKH7 baseband, 2.6.35.7_ZedomaxStockKernel.
Flashed again with a I777UCKJ1 2.3.5 ODIN package that I know will fix the WiFi. It shows version 2.3.5, 1777UCKJ1 baseband, 2.6.35.7 kernel.
Seems like if I flash ANYTHING else besides this the wifi stops working on me.
Solved problems for myself.
Completely unrooted, reflashed ATTGalaxyS2Unroot_SGH-i777.tar. This brought me back to the original AT&T firmware that came with the phone. I then flashed SGH-I777_ClockworkMod-Recovery_5.0.2.3.tar and subsequently used SuperOneClick 2.2 to root.
WiFi seems to be working fine now. I am now running a stock 2.3.4 ROM, UCKJ1, kernel 2.6.35.7...Clockworks version.
If anyone else is having the same issue this should help.
Thanks for the updates. Sounds like a frustrating battle. Glad all is well.

Hrrrrm Having the same issues and the only way I could manage wifi to get back on was going to 2.3.5 which had it's own set of issues. I tried following your steps but one thing I noticed you said you were running UCKJ1 but isn't that 2.3.5? When I flash the exact same files I am still stuck without working wifi
Still noobing it up here - hopefully I can either stumble upon a fix like you did or spot someone else's that matches my issues...
Avoid that androidadvices.com **** - Half the time they link to firmware that isn't even for the device it claims it is, carrying a high risk of a hardbrick.
I only experienced this when I was trying to upgrade kernels using the SHOstock ROM. I get no wifi with siyah and can't send MMS with Entropy's kernel. That's the only time I've had those issues. Maybe you had a bad download? Glad you got it fixed though.
Just to clarify, those kernels work great with most other ROMS I've tried them on.

Had the same problem
I had this problem (with wifi, not mms) after rooting from 2.3.6. I eventually flashed Zedomax's kernel using mobile odin and wifi functionality was restored.
I still haven't moved on from there, but probably will sometime this week.

Weird, I cannot think of anything that would cause MMS to fail - what sort of errors?
It's happened to me several times after I flash a kernel. when I attempt to send an mms it just hangs and says sending but it never goes out. Could it be a conflict as I have Chomp set as my primary messaging app? Although if that were the case it should be able to send from one or the other but it doesn't. Can't remember for sure but I believe that I may have flashed the kernel cleaning script beforehand in each instance. The only way I've been able to fix it is to reinstall everything starting with the ROM. I'm sure it's user error.
As info, steps I took to try to fix before I restored:
1) reflash kernel
2) flash radio again
3) tried all 5 radios released (not a radio problem I'm guessing)
4) wipe dalvik and reflash kernel
5) run kernel cleaning script and reflash kernel
No dice, it was bizarre. Is this even the sort of event that you could get an error log from? There was no FC or any error message, you know? If it happens again what can I provide you that would help...can I do a logcat or whatever? ;-)
By the way,I could receive mms, just not send.

Factory Data Reset restored wi-fi
I was on UCKK6 (2.3.6) and rooted by flashing Entropy512's Return/Unbrick to Stock (2c)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=18576627
and lost wi-fi (scanning then wi-fi shuts off).
Since I was reverting from UCKK6 back to UCKH7, I had to do a factory data reset
(Menu > Settings > Privacy > Factory Data Reset)
based on the info in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1286432
I got wi-fi back once I did the Factory Data Reset.
I'm having the same problem
Giant noob here =(
Could someone post step by step instructions on how to unroot so that I can restore my wifi?
For example, if in fact doing the factory data reset as described in the post above me is the correct course of action... is there a way to do a backup before so that I do not lose all my apps and stuff?
Thanks

HELP: I used a custom rom

I installed a custom rom, everything is working except for the wifi, the wifi wont turn on and connect to the wifi network, is there something wrong with the actual wifi card or is it fixable?

What rom did you use? I suggest going to the thread for the rom and asking other people that are using it. Chances are you may just need to re-wipe your phone and then reflash.
we will definitely need more info than what u gave us
You may have to reflash the custom kernel if you flashed one before flashing the rom. I ran into this issue after I flashed a new version of the rom I'm using on top of the Trinity kernel. Just had to reflash the Trinity kernel again and wifi was working again.

[Q] No internet access or bluetooth after flashing to CM10.1

Hi guys, I just flashed my p7500 to cm10.1 and everything went pretty smoothly. But now I can't get an internet connection via 3G or wifi, and my tab's bluetooth doesn't seem to be able to pick up anything either. I've tried wiping data, cache and dalvik cache, fixing permission, flashing my bootloader and modem, etc. but nothing seems to be working.
It says Mobile Network State "disconnected" and MDN "unknown". I think I have to flash my modem with the correct file as the one provided by droidbasement isn't working properly on mine.
Does anyone know how I can fix this? Thank you.

Did you flash the nightly? What build are you running? Bluetooth was fixed. Check out the nightly discussion thread, I posted that you should be using the modem on droidbasement for best results. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2074202
Hi, thanks for the response.
I was running the 01012013 nightly but as of now I'm running the 02012013 one with the modem.bin file from pershoot's website.
I just can't get an internet connection for some reason. I even flashed it with the 4.0.4 stock ROM and still can't get my internet back. I think it's because I accidentally flashed my modem with a modem.tar file in Odin under the PDA tab instead of the modem.bin file under the phone tab. Is there a way I can fix this?
Thanks again.

So when you flashed the stock ROM, did you ODIN flash or use a CWM zip? Did the modem.tar contain the modem.bin? As far as I know, the tar should have worked but I have a wifi only so I have not flashed modems. Try using Mobile ODIN and see if that helps.
Hi NakedNinja42,
I used odin to flash back to the stock rom, was I supposed to use CWM?
After I flashed it back to the stock rom, I then flashed to the 02/01/2013 nightly, now my bluetooth and wifi are working again, but my 3G is still not connecting. I'm also having trouble getting my PC to recognize my tab as a storage device, but strangely Odin still works.
Again, thanks for helping, I really appreciate it.
Problem solved. Flashed it back to Honeycomb 3.2 and now 3G is back.

After Update to 4.1.2 can't switch WIFI on :(

Hey Guys
Since many apps don't support GB I was forced to do update.
After flashing with original JB 4.1.2 everything seems to be ok, but there is no way to turn wifi on.
WIFI icon on bar is half-highlighted, tapping on it gets no results......Wifi tethering not working also
Cache and Full Wipe was done, there was suggestion to flash with "siyah kernel" - also not working.
It seems that problem is related to fault ROM file because on ICS and GB wifi works fine......
Any tips? suggestions?
i9100 without wifi is useless :crying:

Did you flash the correct JB update? Maybe try a different STOCK JB rom from a different region.
Or directly try to install a custom ROM, for example CyanogenMod.
