Is it possible to edit a CM7 theme ?
I've been using this Win7 theme and i've got 2 minor problems
1)Is it possible to change the status car in this theme ?
Ie make the pull down men in status bar semi transparent or transparent ?
2)There's any way to edit only a few aspects of this theme ? By replacing parts of another CM7 theme
Noob question i know ^

And mod i wasnt quite sure where i should've posted this, so i thought General would be fine
Man do we need an Neo/Neo V Q&A
just decompile the framework and systemUI etc...edit the 9.png files as your liking or just replace them with the images of choice from other theme...for transparency in status bar...i think UOT kitchen may help.
by the way...i am not an expert and dont know much about CM themes...ha ha ha...i have just edited stock themes for my liking...and i dont decompile them...just unzip them and rezip after editing.

Can I create a theme by just redesigning the original graphic files of one of the themes already included in the rom or this process is more complicated.

yes you can.
its quite easy as long as you remember to edit files that wont effect the UI, use pngs with the same resolution, and dont mess with xml files lol if you dont have to... other than that its pretty much jus copy and pasting pngs from one theme to another... good luck btw sense based roms use the framework-res.apk and htc.resources.apk... and CM based roms use the framework-res.apk and the systemUI.apk if this helps
is there a program to custom themes already made.
I just read the posts and wanted to know if there was a program that can do what you guys are talking about. I would like to make my own themes with themes made by other people. If the is no program then where would one start. Thx in advanced.
Hello all,
I just found, on the forum of xda-developers, a theme creator for Android!
Now I was wondering if it would work for our phone!
Link to thread: click!
In the thread stands that it would work with most android devices! (hopefully ours is included!)
I've got no time to test it right now... maybe this evening!
It's not a theme creator but a theme kitchen !
I tried it there for a moment and it doesn't work totally.
You can only have framework files. BUT, twframework files are in the framework.
If you add others files, your framework doesn't work.
Sooo.......... in 2 words: doesn't work?
Doesn't work TOTALLY !
Thanks for the link, it works, not totally but it works
I changed Satus bar, Battery icons, Bootanimation (Change resolution !), and some other things...
Really? That's awesome! I thought it would not work! Thank you for your feedback!
No problem, I just want to say that we can change animations in the theme and that is awesome ! We can choose Rudolf Animations
Thanks man!

It's a cool kitchen, but all of this can be done manually with greater control. Animations are from SGS and coincidentally work in SG3 (they are not Rudolf's animations). You can put them in any theme manually, too. Just unpack the framework folder and replace the files in /res/anim/ folder.

I'm trying to change the status/top bar of a CM7 theme using UOT Kitchen. The first time I ever attempted this was last night. Followed the instructions step by step; everything was good. But when I flashed it, nothing changed.
My question is, when uploading files to UOT it says for GB Rom's upload the framework and system apk. For CM7 Roms just upload the theme apk i.e. Cyanbread. Seeing how CM7 is GB thats where I'm confused. Should I upload just the theme apk or the framework and system apks? Or should I upload them all?

I read somewhere else that UOT might not be updated yet for 2.3.5 Gingerbread like the latest AOSP roms are running.

I only theme out my framework-res.apk and my SystemUI.apk. The SystemUI.apk is the stock look that you get on Gingerbread without any modifications. If you unzip if with 7zip you'll see what I mean. I've never flashed it into a live/booted rom. I modify my files pngs mostly and let the kitchen do the hard work (the files I still don't understand), then replace the SystemUI.apk and the framework-res.apk into the CMupdate.zip file. There is probably a more preferable way to do it, but I don't switch themes a lot (and the theme chooser doesn't theme everything I need anyway)
I know this way will work as I've gotten my edits into these today/yesterday

This should do the trick http://uot.dakra.lt/ You just upload the relevant files to your rom, works with everything, it takes you through everything.
ok i gave it a shot as i thought i failed i have grifs cyangen rom i used the kitchen clicked transparency in status bar, hdpi uploaded framework and systemui but no luck in transparant statusbar if i upload the 2 required files would someone be so kind?
oh forgot to add i rebooted into clockwork recovery mounted the phone then installed the zip file.
There are some mods in the themes and apps subforum which already prepares it for you

Thanks! going to give it another shot
All things except lockscreen worked from the UOT kitchen.. but before doing kitchen use your own firmware framework files rather than attached ones ...
For transparent status bar ur launcher should support the transparency...
Btw golauncher and laucherpro doesnt support status bar transparency....

help, how to edit the settings menu background in CM7.2? It is to give the appearance of iphone style menu, the rom I am creating the style of mobile Apple
someone I can bring something please!
you will need to edit the cmsettings.apk
ghmmmppp lol
cmsettings
nope
only way to do it is through
styles.xml of framework-res.apk
but if you search you will find it
link 1 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1478758
link2 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1400580 (for this one you will need to play with the files because you arent going to make a cm7 theme apk but modified framework so some adjustments need to be made *most of those lines are probably in styles.xml)
