Hi, I have a nook Tablet that had a little problem.
The LCD screen is broken.
The left side for 1.5 inch is dead.
I'm looking for a way to change the screen size of the tablet.
That way I could still use the tablet.
If I could just specify a smaller size that way the dead pixel won't be in use.
Anyway, I hope that you understand.
So does that exist? Can it be done through a Theme?
Thx for your help!!
April fools?
Please, Photo in studio.

This is a development section, its not for questions (or April fools)
No April's fool! Unfortunatly...
You see, the dead pixels on the right.
If I could find a way to resize the displayed picture, that would be great.
Maybe with a theme, to give another dimension... I don't know.
I'm sure it's possible, but I don't know how...
I can't post a pic but If you copy paste that link :

Thx
No answer?
Seriously?
Nobody has a way to change the display size?
I'm sure it's not that difficult.
but i'm not a developer... unfortunately.
you can change the screen size but there is no way to tell it to take only a portion of the screen, so it will change the screen as a whole and you end up with the same. Only solution is to replace screen.
How did it happenned?
stupidity
As always... I put it in the glove compartement in the car, without a protection. and bim...
no real s/w fix for this. you gotta bite the bullet and swap out hardware.

Anyone got a link to software/freeware that allows the display on the XDA to be viewed in landscape and portrait modes?
The only freeware that can do that would be the Pocketop driver (www.pocketop.net), but as of now it doesn't work on the XDA. It should do by the end of this month.
On Handango or PocketGear you'll be able to find Nyditot Virtual Display and JSLandscape, both of which will do what you need and a whole lot more. I prefer Nyditot, but I think they both have trials so give them a shot.
I tried the latest version of Nyditot (3.22) and it works quite well on an XDA. If only the apps I have were adjustable to landscape...
I gotta ask, why would you want to change from portrait to landscape? I tried Nyditot a while back when I was just experimenting, and it does work, but I asked myself whether I could really be bothered with flicking between some applications in landscape mode and the most of the rest in portrait!
Not meaning to ***** or anything but why??

Probably because my eyes are not on top of each other but rather side to side. I don't see anyone marketing any "Tall-Screens", don't think they would sell very well.
tablet pc's have the same tallscrean thing going
maybe it's more ergonomic when you are standing up and holding
the devices or something
I use nyditot for terminal services and webbrowsing, with compression (480 x 360 is prettly legible). If only there was a PPC/PE device with a 640x480 screen like the new Clios. I have very good eyesight btw
I want to paint my living room. I am painting it white maybe but I am not sure where the best place to get that paint is, do I need primer? How long will it take to paint it and then when is it dry? What Kind of brushes should I use? How many people should help, if any, and any other information possible would be great help.
Hi cracks,
Just read somewhere in another thread that somebody was asking about the bad colors of WM6 and that it was much better under WM5.
But now it is even not possible with downgrading to WM5 to get the right settings back.
This is the same for me (S200 G4). All pictures and movies are looking bad just as you would have not enough colors anymore.
Any idea what it is or how to solve that?
Am I really the only one having this problem?
Is there perhaps a registry setting for adjusting that?
Thanks,
Boris
I would like to know the answer too
I also have the same problem. Anybody knows a solution?
My screen got fixed.
After resetting to WM5 I still had the problem. But after Hard resetting twice it's fixed. Boris03, Could you confirm this. I would like to upgrade again but not at the cost of busting my graphics, So I don't want to experiment again. Thanks
Problem back again
After a few minuts when I turned it on again, the problem was back. So I'm sorry for the wrong info, but it was fixed for a few miutes for sure.
are you guys talking about camera pictures & vidz ? if so, it's just that your device is overclocked while it shouldn't.... if not, describe your problem better so that someone can answer it... post screenshots... help yourself.
Screen shots
I am speaking of the windows screens actually. It is not noticable on all screens but ones with gradient shades show it and also where there are menu buttons. I took Lastnikita's advice and took screen shots.......... but on my PC the screens look perfect.
I'll try to explain what I see on my PPC. In terms of RGB, it looks like the blue has shifted from the rest of the colors a bit to the right. This is noticable in menu buttons where the left half looks pinkish while the blue overlaps the button boundary and sticks out the right. In gradient colors i.e. the contacts screen there is a blue column on the laft of the screen and a lot of pink around the middle. The effect looks like a low bitrate image. Maybe I can use a seperate camera to take a picture.
I have downgraded after using Touch X ROM and am now using 2.20.7.34 WWE ROM.
Thanks.
If you used a software screenshot, it would have taken an image of what was supposed to be shown. To me it sounds like a hardware fault rather than a driver related issue.
Yes. I just found this out and I was thinking the same thing. But the similarity of the problem looked strange. Maybe the problem is not the same either. Thanks.
Thanks for the advice. I just opened up my Neo and undid the ribon to the display then plugged the ribon back in. It's fixed. Thanks everybody.

Wow, very luckly, I have same problem. Can u guide in detail for me? What is the ribon? If have pics is better. Thanks!
I'd like to help. But are you willing to risk of opening up your PDA? I was desperate.
This will void your warranty.
I tried to write a description but it's too hard
The basic idea is to open up the back. 2 screws are visible under the battery cover the other two are under the Camera cover plate which is the only hard part to remove. It has catches on both sides near the bottom edges. If this is opened then you can see the other 2 screws. Once unscrewed you can take off the back panal. It also has some catches but they give in to a little pressure in the joining gap. I used my nails to liver it. The back has to be taken away carefully as the speaker is connected to this and you don't want to break the wire. Once this is open and you place the back cover beside the unit so the wire is not streached you can start working on the ribbon.
You'll see a copper ribbon just above the IR port connecting to the motherboard. It is locked with a clip. You can unlock the clip by ..................
I'm not sure you're interested anymore. . Let me know if you are.
It would be better with pictures or MSN maybe.
I don't know if this forum has a rule against giving out MSN IDs.
well, maybe I should bring my Neo to the store (still warranty more 6 months left ^-^). I only used PDA for more 1 month, so I don't know much about them. Concern to hardware maybe I can't do well as you ^-^.
Thank you very much for helping me!
I am from Vietnam, so my English is bad. I don't know the following is true or not? ^-^
God help you!
Bad colors since WM6
Hi all,
I cannot believe that this should be a cable problem. It was just since I was upgrading to WM6 and the downgrade is not solving the thing anymore.
It is just like you display a video or pictures with 16Mio Colors on a 16Color display. And before the same video and pictures looked brilliant.
On other thing is that e.g. the background pictures (theme) from Gullum are looking bad as well.
And also I can see the background colors flickering a little bit from time to time. Again this is since i upgraded the first time to WM6.
S200 G4, No overclocking.
Thanks,
Boris
The easy way to check out if its a cable problem is by taking screen shots. If they look good on the PC then chances are very high that it is a physical problem and just might be a cable problem. If they are the same on the PC as on the PPC then it obviously is not a similar problem to mine.
Thanks
First I want to thank everyone for all the good info, tutorials, and custom firmware.
I have noticed a very faint grid and dots on the screen, or between the glass and LCD. You have to catch it in the light just right to see it. I assume it is part of the capacitive touch hardware but just wanted to ask if anyone else noticed it or could explain exactly what it is. I have not seen anything like it on any other touch screen devices I have.
Yes I searched the forum before I posted this...
Thanks!

That's normal. The dots are built into the digitizer. I assume they are used to determine where your finger is being pressed. My Droid 2 has them too. I don't see them unless I'm really looking for them, and normally I got so many fingerprints on the screen already that I don't see the dots.
Thanks for the quick reply.

Ipad has the same thing
My Archos 101 has then as well. Not really as bad when the unit is on. At least to me.
Just an FYI...
I put my iPad, iPhone, gtablet, and my wife's droid all side by side same lighting and viewing angle and the gtablet is the only one that has the visible grid and dots.
That is why I posted the question.

grid dots on mine too!
I know this posting is old, but just wanted to say my g-tab has the same visable grid dots. I was going to take it back thinking it was just a lemon, but now that I see this I wont. This is the only posting I see that anyone has acknowledged this. I wonder if its all g tabs or just a bad batch.....

Not a bad batch. the small reflective dots are part of the digitizer that registers touch input. On some devices it may be harder to see, but I assure you, they are there. I noticed them on both my Milestone and Nexus One.
I think that there are two kinds of capacitive screens. I had to return the first GTab bought in November because the micro SD card slot was not working. That one did not have any lines or dots. When I received the replacement one in January, I noticed the dots immediately. But well.. this one can keep the micro sd card in it's place!!
Has anyone noticed visible dots when the screen is on? I just got a replacement gtab and noticed the dots on a white background. They are shimmering dots - similar to when dust is on the screen...
Perhaps a screen protector would help? I saw the grid when the tablet was off on my old one too... but never when it was on like this...

yes, i can still see them, when the screen is ON, so whats the update here?
Love the tab but have little issue .
The screen resolution does not play well with my 4 eyes . I tried density changer and absolute system tools to tinker with everything but it still weird to me . My brothers I pad has 1024x768 and I can stare at it all day without my eyes getting tired . How could I change resolution to 1024x768 ??????????????
You can't. The only thing you can do is have the device rescale everything to draw 1024 dots across the display, 768 down. The result... no. Try changing your favorite PC to 1024x768 on a 1280x1024 display, with scaling enabled. It's horrible.
There are font options you can mess with. Haven't done so myself, but there's threads around here that mention it. Also look at the Accessibility features in Settings.
Do pay a visit an optometrist and bring the tablet with you. If you're having contrast issues with the display, there may be something else going on that needs attention. Perhaps he'll just congratulate you for hitting 40 or something, who knows - or maybe you're about to fail that stupid puff test and your own pixels are dying. A good friend of mine lost 70% of his vision in 3 months due to that stuff, because he waited. Don't make that error.
Good luck,

Hi,
I took a look into the dev device and wonder if it is possible to change the cheap device frame and replace it with a S3 original case.
But because I'm not very experienced in disassembling mobile phones I got no success.
I removed all screws inside the phone and tested a S3 original battery back. I would fit on the RD-PQs back. But I find no way to remove the "angular" black front from the screen. There a now screws which fix the screen to front.
So I want to start a discussion here. Maybe together we find a way to get a "real" looking S3.
Does someone has an idea how the screen is fixed to the front? Or does anyone already tried the same?
Someone found Pictures from inside RD-PQ?
I9300 is very easy to open... but I have nothing to compare...
No idea how RD-PQ looks near battery...
Thanx in advance.
Best Regards
Edit 1.
Google Search...

Edit 2.
Video seems to answer few of my Questions...
eMMC size... seems 16 GB...
2 golden spring left site visible... hmm. maybe not Live Demo Unit
Maybe different RD-PQ devices floating around?
Label is with GT-I9300_Tizen...
Someone told me about FCC ID visible?
Edit 3.
Attached Pics... In Video little bit bigger and better to see...
But I would say it looks like in I9300...so in theory this should help to open RD-PQ too...
