Hi all, I just got my phone 2 days ago,I am totally new to these kinds of stuff, I tried to use my wifi on my home router and it always says "Obtaining IP address", and then disconnect, reconnect, doing the same thing over and over. I have tried setting up Static IP address, it is connected but the webpage will never load. I have tired of attempting method like factory reset and others but nothing has helped.
Also, when I tried to copy a 325MB video into my phone, window explorer stopped working. Other files like pdf and mp3 music works fine and viewable.
Please help, and thanks for any heads up.

Hi all,
Hoping someone can help. I flashed my G Tablet with Vegan 5.11 with Pershoot's kernal. When I navigate to settings>about device>status I get the following FC error:
"The applications Settings (process com.android.settings) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again."
I have booted into ClockworkMod and have tried the wipe cache partition, wipe data/foctory reset and fix permissions, all with a reboot after each one and none has fixed the issue I am experiencing. Anyone else have this issue. I am just trying to retrieve my MAC address so I can add it to a wifi router for internet access.
I can probably use a work around and connect to another wifi router with MAC address requirement disabled and look at the logs to see the MAC address, but it would be easier for me to fix this.
Anyhow, any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I ended up setting up mobile hotspot on my android phone and retrieved the MAC address of the tablet from there. Would be nice to know if there is a fix for this anyway or if this is a know bug. I don't see it as a bug on the Vegan rom sticky.
I had the same question too and googled this thread.
However, I played around a little more and think I found your solution.
Settings > Wireless & networks Wi-Fi settings
then press the on-Display menu button (the one with the lines that look like an inverted paragraph - I had to google what this button was called too)
Select advanced and it should be there! at least for me it was.
Hope it's what you are looking for!
Thank you for the work around, but it would still be nice to get this fixed. I am hoping the GB Beta 1 being based off of Cyanogen the issue will go away.
i too have run into this issue.
is this a common thing or should i be worried?
Well known issue since day one... the aforementioned process of browsing to advanced wireless settings is the solution for the MAC addy

So...
I flashed the WKS9 (XEO csc) yesterday and flashed the CF-root on top of it. First I had problems with obtaining an IP adress. IP fixed from android side worked fine but when I press "forget" on the AP and reentered the wifi password it worked without manual IP settings. Then I noticed that Wi-Fi keeps disconnecting and immediately connecting. Of course, before flashing the CF-root I read the instructions and the changelog - it said that the kernel shouldn't break the wifi. But I thought that in my case it broke.
So I reflsahed the WKS9 (one package and without wiping). CWM and Tweaks disappeared but Superuser has been left untouched and I couldn't uninstall it like it was on /system; Link2SD shown that it is on /data (su was removed). After a short messing around with Android Commander and adb Superuser disappeared too (all by itself).
BUT wifi still breaks connection.
One more interesting thing: /data partition shows completely empty!
Edit: It looks like it's losing the IP because if I set IP to manual the phone stays connected. I'm sure that it is not a problem with router because all other devices connected have their IP all the time. Also on router config page it says nothing in "device name" next to ace's mac address.
To fix the wifi
-should I wipe /data or...
-just flash other modem (KB7 for example which has worked with CM7 perfectly)
The same thing happened to me. It's not the root, it's the rom itself. The only fix I found was changing the rom.
Still waiting for a rom with a Wifi that doesn't suck
Have you tried flashing the services.jar within the CF-Root thread?
Hey guys,

Please help me
Hello everybody, and thank you if you've taken the time to read this.
As other people have had problems with in the past, I cannot watch Youtube videos (either from a browser or in the app) because when I click on a video, I get the "no network connection right now" message. This message also pops up immediately after clicking on the Youtube app. My phone doesn't have a data plan and I've been doing all of my surfing on wifi, and this wasn't a problem until three days ago.
I don't have experience with rooting phones or keeping up to date with new software and the like. I can only give you as much information as I can.
Firmware version: 2.1 -update1
Baseband version: T959UVJI6
Kernel version: 2.6.29
Build number: ECLAIRE.UVJI6
I've cleared the cache and data for Youtube, I've tried to find the Youtube app on the marketplace and "My Apps" to see if there was an update I needed but couldn't find it (it may be something pre-loaded into the phone). I've also tried a factory reset.
The last thing I've tried was to go to the system/etc folder, backup the "hosts" file, opened it with a text editor and delete all entries for "#youtube". However, when I open up the "hosts" file, all i see is:
127.0.01
localhost
I don't know if that was because of the factory reset or anything else I tried.
I can watch other videos just fine, whether online or on my phone. When connected to the same wifi with another phone, I can watch youtube videos. Any help would be appreciated, and I will try my best to accommodate any requests for more information.
Checking
I will be checking this thread for responses until I either find a solution that works and will post it here, or Youtube magically starts working again and I will post here. In any case, please feel free to put in any help if you are able.
Good evening!!! 7 months ago, I had to use a backup in my rom aop 5.1.1. In that backup I did for TWRP, I had marked the Persist option without knowing that I was backing up the Wifi. When I used it and the system came back I noticed that I could not activate my wifi networks because there was no Mac address. I was able to solve this problem by copying the "WCNSS_qcom_wlan_factory_nv.bin" file edited with my Bluetooth address inside it and I was able to retrieve the address Mac of the wifi. I spent a lot of time on this system and today I decided to install Mashmallow. That's when I noticed that when entering the wifi password, the system only saves, but it does not connect !!! In the settings> over the phone> status, it is labeled "Not Available."
An important detail is that when I downgrade to KitKat 4.4.4 or Lollipop 5.0.2 stock, the IP address becomes active again and I can use my wifi connections. The problem is only from Marshmallow 6.0.1 onwards. If anyone can help me in this matter I am very grateful. Sorry if any words were wrong because I'm using Google Translate. I'm brazilian.
