[Q] Just flashed to .73 and noticed something... - Sony Xperia P, U, Sola, Go

Good afternoon! (or morning depending on where you are lol)
Just flashed my XS to .73 and noticed that is said the following:
"Bootloader status: ROOTABLE"
Does that mean I could root my phone?
Cheers

Where did it say that?

I assume that you saw that in flashtool, in which case, yes!

It said it in Flashtools itslef whilst it was in the middle of flashing it from .67 to .73...
The reason I noticed it at all is because when I had the phone the bootloader wasn't unlockable (checked and it has "No" next to it in the service menu) and now it has changed to "Yes" since flashing it to the new firmware...
I didn't think there was a way to change the bootloader unlockable status from No to Yes yet?

Apparently kind sir, you found the bootloader unlocking workaround for the people with Orange
Pat your self on the back, you just made a lot of peoples lives much easier
Have you tried to unlock your bootloader now? From what it sounds like it should be entirely possible now.

I'll drink to that!
Just to add, this phone isn't an Orange phone, it is a sim free device from CPW I had with an Orange contract if that makes any difference...
Might still be an Orange phone but it has no branding either on the phone or in the software from what I can see, how can I check this?

Hmm...that I'm not soo sure...:/
But if it said "No" before and now it gives a "Yes" I imagine there is hope for the Orange branded people even if yours isn't Orange branded
Edit: Sorry! it was O2 people with the unlocking problem D: Disregard my past post. though you may be onto something xD

Well if any of the developers see this maybe they can make use of it, if it is of any use at all lol
Regardless, there are 2 things for certain:
My phones bootloader was NOT unlockable before the flash to .73
Since the flash, it IS now unlockable
I have just got the unlock key from Sony so will try to unock my bootloader now

Well after several attampts to unlock the bootloader on my phone I still can't solve the driver issue on the PC
My phone only stays on the 'fastboot' mode for a few seconds and then changes to the HSUSB mode
Driving me insane!
Tried several times, the first time it installed, and I have used the downloaded drivers from a link in the dev section but I still get this issue where it wont stay in fastboot mode for more than 3-5 seconds

There is a good workaround in the thread for the unlocked bootloader, I assume you are on Windows 7? It takes a few tries but focus on updating the driver.

Yes I am on Windows 7 Ultimate...
The biggest issue is it keeps telling me that "I already have the best driver installed" and yet it wont stay in fastboot mode...
Doing my nut in!

Well after seeing this, decided to flash .73 just to see if I also got the same result.
Whilst I was on .63 I had Bootloader unlock allowed: No
Whilst I was on .67 I had Bootloader unlock allowed: No
Just flashed to .73 and Bootloader unlock allowed: No
So unfortunately, bootloader is still locked for me

I'd love to root my xs but it's a butt load of effort just to get rid of some bloatware apps!

How can i check if i have the bootloader unlock?there is any app in the market to check it?

Go to dialer and press *#*#service#*#* (service being the numbers 7378423)
Then there a option you can look at which tells you if bootloader is unlocked

You can try flashing custom kernel via fastboot, and start phone.
About wotan server, you must be doing something wrong, because if you unlocked BL by test point, you can use SEUS, PC companion or wotan server.

No it wont

"No service" after installation of miniCM7 on X10 mini Pro

Hi all,
I installed MiniCm7 on my X10 mini pro using these instructions :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1415026
And for unlock the bootloader these instructions :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1254225
No problems during this steps, when I reboot my phones MiniCM worked perfectly but there was no service and I couldn't connect the phone on the network.
So, I tried to reinstall the stock version of Android with SEUS but the problem is still here....
If somenon knows the origin of this problem, this could really help me!

The reason for manufacturers to ship their phones with locked bootloaders in the first place is to guarantee that carriers don't get burdened with users messing up their phones, and allowing the carriers to run their own proprietary software (which they say gives them added value over the competition).
So, in order to allow users to mess with their phones, some very clever people hacked the security-mechanism of the bootloader.
Unfortunately, that hack for the Xperia X-devices is not perfect, and can disable the radio-capability of your phone (resulting in loss of network-access/unrecognised sim-cards) if the simlock-certificate on your phone is non-standard.
If that happens, the only way to hopefully get it back is to relock your bootloader so it looks original again.
(I'm not sure if you read the thread on unlocking the bootloader, but there is good reason for the big warnings in red letters about checking your sim-lock certificate with S1Tool before unlocking, and the risks involved in that)
In short: The cause of network-loss the OP reported, wasn't caused by the software, because even back on stock firmware it still occurred. So the cause must be the other thing he messed with
And repairint your phone with sony-ericsson's software does not relock the bootloader.

[Q] Unlocking Xperia Neo

Hi everbody!!

I was reading about unlocking this phone and I'm not sure id there is a way to do it. I suppose it cannot be unlocked via the official way but I'm not sure about other ways.
Any help?

You can still root it no problem, just not unlock bootloader.
However, you should still be able to unlock it via a paid for service. (Someone correct me if I am wrong)

No need to correct you
Paid service like SETool Box(which I personally advise), omnius, wotan server(they provide SIM unlock, not sure about bootloader unlock).
Also having this in mind: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=25802604&postcount=144
if older than 12W14, only official unlock (of course with previously removed SIM lock)

Yes.
Long story:
Technically, you can unlock it(bootloader) now, it's just you won't be able to use it until you remove SIM lock, as SIM lock is also locking fastboot, which you need to access your unlocked bootloader.

There isn't discovered free way to remove SIM lock. Unless you ask your tele operator, and he is good enough to unlock it

Don't think they will be up to... :silly:
I have one more question. With a custom kernel, does it really improve the overall experience?
I'm on ICS now and the phone isn't up to my expectations being honest. It's not as fluid and responsive as it should be even that I use a custom ROM (ICS pureness). So I wonder if a kernel would benefit the overall usage.
Above all, I find it troubled to do multitasking. It often needs to reopen the apps and it feels slow and games and apps lag even with the new Adreno drivers (I'm using Holo Launcher). I tried supercharging it a few months ago but I didn't notice it that much on ICS. Maybe JB runs better??
I'm seriously thinking about going back to GB. It feels snappier and more responsive. Altough I don't want to... :crying:
Hi again!
I SIM unlocked my Neo already but it still shows 'Bootloader unlock allowed = No'. Is that normal? May I unlock it now with the official way?

How you unlocked it? What program you used?
Did you try with different SIM cards?
I bought a code obtained from my phone model, carrier and IMEI.
Then I introduced another SIM card from a different carrier and my phone asked for that code. So, I introduced it and my phone now can be used with other carriers.
Then I inserted my SIM card again and I checked my phone unlock status. And it says 'no'.

Why you didn't follow my suggestion and used apps which I suggested?
Anw, I'm not sure now.
Install drivers from latest flashtool,
turn off phone, hold down menu key and connect cable to phone, let the PC recognize phone and install drivers,
start flashtool, click on lightning icon and select fastboot mode, click on "get ver info" and "get device info" in the main flashtool window you should see some info.
What does it say?
p.s. you can always try with testpoint method or by official method and see if it will work.

What are you complaining about? Why don't buy a ticket to watch a film or sth instead of being so rude?
Ok. I've got Flashtool 0.9.8 installed in GNU/Linux and Flashtool 0.9.5 in Windows 7.
It seems I cannot enter in fastboot mode within either one. In fact, after entering in flash mode (holding down back button) my phone always enters in flash mode except if I hold down the menu button, in which case it enters in normal (charging?) mode.

Sony Xperia Z1 Compact - Locked Bootloader ???

Hi XDA
I recently acquired a Sony Xperia Z1 Compact, but it seems that the bootloader cannot be unlocked (even after grabbing the code from Sony)
it says that the command isn't allowed, then I saw a post on a forum saying that not every bootloader can be unlocked.
I was wondering, since I have a unlockable* bootloader (which I assume there are ways to unlock it, because lets face it.. is there anything out there thats "locked" and hasn't been cracked into?
Anywho.
I have been to EVERY single "Phone repair / unlock" shop in my town, and none of them know what a bootloader is. So I decided to see if anyone here has managed to unlock their locked* bootloader.
If anyone can shed any light on this, it would be great.
Thank you.

Guys.. it says "Bootloader unlock allowed: No"
Which means I can't use an official way to unlock the bootloader, what I need to know is if theres a different way I can unlock the bootloader. By flashing firmware, a different bootloader or any special utility to unlock the bootloader. Thanks

In about phone> phone status>uptime
Uptime should be equal to 7days... then oem unlock option will appear but ...... I want another solution date change and WiFi connect is not solution ... If any body knows any other solution please guide me ... I'll be very thankful.....
@ladlabaloch512
Perhaps your device has the same "OEM unlock" block like mine.
On mine I was supposed to wait 7d after turning on dev options.
I bypassed that by
1. switching to airplane mode
2. Setting manually date back one month
3. Restart (still in airplane mode)
4. Turning off airplane mode and let it sync date
and voila OEM unlock option was there.
Perhaps that works on your device as well.

Is it possible to flash an unlocked carrier firmware in ODIN and then be able to unlock OEM? Without carrier issues or anything? Lol.. about to just exchange this phone for an actual rootable phone.. i disagree with charging for hotspot.. that should be illegal.. getting charged twice to use th same bs internet.. eff that.. i just want Rooooooot!!!
Hello,
I have also been having these troubles, with no way to unlock oem after stock flash, and the closest I've got to finding a solution was this, but I simply cannot find samsung's bootloader unlocking form like it says in the guide. I bought my phone just for a bootloader unlockable version (A025M), and now I am very angry at samsung.
also, since over a 1000 hours have gone by since last post, have any one of you solved this issue just by waiting?

its not only samsung that does this, many other companies like motorola does this. Dont be angry, just try a different device. Also, snapdragon US models (i dont think) arent able to be unlocked. If its a mediatek model and isnt sim/carrier locked, u can try MTKClient

Lol.. about to just exchange this phone for an actual rootable phone.. i disagree with charging for hotspot.. that should be illegal.. getting charged twice to use th same bs internet.. eff that.. i just want Rooooooot!!!
