Noticed that first the case review thread was deleted and now a thread about the e-crap site including a post about the review thread being deleted was deleted.
Now theres a nice confusing post. But seriously what gives?

The good folks at xda have temporarily taken the thread down for review.
This really stinks. I had that thread bookmarked so I can go over it later as it has a lot more images than the e-crap website does, as well as a great write up for each case. I hope they re-instate the thread as it was very informative for us just getting the tablet from the Woot sale.
Hmmm. Hopefully they will reinstate the thread and allow Steve to continue operating here: he has done a great deal to help the XDA g tablet community get our hands on accessories, some of which might not even have existed without his efforts.
I actually ordered something from there yesterday. I was a little leary since i hadn't heard about it before. Hopefully all is well.

I wouldn't worry about placing an order, looks as though quite a few people have done business with Steve. I plan to as soon as the latest shipment comes in.
I'm gonna take a guess that the whole thread removal has something to do with a developer reviewing and selling product. I for one appreciate his efforts and am OK with this situation, if that is indeed the problem.

I ordered from him last week. Fast shipment and responded super quick to all my questions. Overall great guy and great experience. I wouldn't hesitate to buy from him again. Not sure why the post was just removed as its been up for a while.
Cool. I will review the CLIP folio when I get it. Thanks guys.
I'm looking for the P4 case review but looks like the same thread is missing. Hopefully it will be back up soon. Anyone has any experience with that case?
I was watching that thread waiting for the black clip cases to be in stock. Where can I get that information now?

I just received the dock today, and I to am waiting for the black clip. I guess I am subscribed since the only link I see on the site is to unsubscribe.

I'll second that.
Steve is a stand up guy. I have bought a couple of accessories from him with no problems - he was very quick in fact - and watched many others here do likewise. I have yet to see anybody write a bad word about him.
If the thread was pulled, it is most likely on a forum posting rules issue: there is actually a Marketplace forum on XDA somewhere - anybody here actually check that forum?? - and it may be that his cases thread should be in there, according to the rules.
Thing is you need several posts to even read that forum. I can't remember the last time I went there and I would guess quite a few folks in here would say the same.
Yep. I have purchased from that site as well. Fast shipping and fair prices. Plus I liked the review thread because it gave good information and was not what I would call just marketing.
Steve also posts over at AndroidTablet, and there is a review thread there as well
I'm disappointed by this as well, because I too had the thread bookmarked. I don't have enough posts to use the XDA marketplace, and I don't like to make BS posts just bump my post-count. If I have nothing constructive to say, I don't say anything. (except maybe this post )
Which of his cases are compatible with the dock without removing the tablet from the doc? Since I can't find detailed pics, based on reading the description it seems like just the clip, but, maybe others are as well?
I really enjoyed reading the updates I can't wait for the black clip to come into stock
I ordered the White CLIP, didn't want to wait for the black in case they never come in. Don't really care about the color.
Does anyone know if his shipment came in?

China Scam...
I'm half suspicious you are the scammer responsible for that page, and you've only posted to get more hits, since I can't believe anyone with even an iota of critical thinking would need to actually ask that question.
If you do pull the trigger on that one, then I know this nigerian guy who will be keen to be in touch with you, could be quite a lucrative opportunity.
if it looks to good to be true.......chance is this is like many sites in china......con, I used to get loads of ads of these kinds of companies with stuff mega cheap, just google them and see, other chance is that it is a cheap copy.

Yeah, I know you are desperate to have the phone like the rest of us. You're not the only one here to have rational thought overtaken by gadget-lust, you should see the number of guys here who purchased 32GB microSD cards for "amazing prices", only to receive fakes.
When you're buying electronics you should really only ever stick to reputable sellers - anything online that looks too good to be true is a sham.
I'm sorry, but this really annoys me. At least half of the listings for screen protectors on Amazon that SPECIFICALLY STATE which Variant/model they are for have bad scores due to idiots buying them and complaining that it doesn't fit their phone because it's too small/ it's too big/ it has a square hole for a button that isn't there, blah, blah, blah....
Don't people do research and at least LOOK AT THE PICTURES or READ THE DESCRIPTION before buying something?
Sad to say .... no they don't. I wish they did. Too many people buy on hype or impulse.
I like to do my research and know the device I buy is going to last and the full potential will be achieved for the length I own the device.

Hell no. People don't even do research on a developers forum, never mind Amazon.

When I bought my GSII the guy at AT&T thanked me for having researched what I was buying before I bought it. Makes the sale for them a lot easier when customers come in there knowing exactly what they want.
I rarely buy anything off pure impulse.
One of my favorites.... not phone related... was a guy who gave a 55" tall monopod I was looking at for a camera only 2 stars because although it was well made and shipped promptly, it was only 55" high as stated in the product title as well as the description and was a bit too short for his 6'2" self. I just had to comment on that one. I basically said, so you are knocking 3 stars off of this thing because it was exactly as it was described and you were too stupid to read it in the first place? He replied with a bunch of BS about how it wouldn't work for him; I replied how that is just like complaining about shoes 2 sizes too small hurting his feet. I don't think he ever got my point, he was just sure he was right.
now the Note won't even turn on or go into download mode or do anything at all. I made a total noobie mistake and now the Note is bricked. I guess there's a first time for everything, never bricked a phone before in my life. I did some search and I hear there's a thingamajiggie called "Samsung debrick jig?" I guess I need to try it, got nothing to lose at this point. Any suggestions?:crying::crying:

If your under warranty you could get ahold of Samsung and see about sending it in for repair. Turn around time is roughly 3 weeks. I doubt that a "jig" is going to work (from my previous experience.) You could send it out to get it JTAG repaired. Which is more probably what your thinking of. Either way your looking at between a couple days to a couple weeks to get it fixed.
If your sending it in to Samsung, you could tell them that you were installing an app, and then the phone turned off and wouldn't turn on or anything.
You need to pay up for the mistake and get jtag. It's going to cost you about 50 bucks. Sending it to Samsung is considered fraud since this is not a warranty issue but user error

I guess you ignored my advice to educate yourself. You're getting off cheap. Slow down.
thanks guys, I've ordered a repair service with Josh Groce at MTV as mentioned in posts above, paid $50 through Google Wallet (you can also pay through Paypal but they are evil), now I just need to find a postal office near me.
Just to make it clear, I never said I was going to return it to Samsung for warranty repair. I didn't know Sammy offered a 2-year warranty on their consumer mobile products, you learn new things everyday especially on XDA!!! (sarcasm)
It shows there are two kinds of people here: one group wants to really help people in need to the greatest extent including legal and possibly illegal means, the other group just wants to sit on their asses and go "I told you so, you should be more careful and do research first"
I did my basic research, including asking newb questions on xda. Based on what you guys said, I bought an i717 instead of the t-mobile version. Because I was carrying out a research, I had dozens of tabs on open on Firefox, and that's a contributing factor as to why I mistakenly flashed an international kernel on my at&t note.
Before you jump in, fingers waggin, saying useless things like "do search," please realize that an older device like the original note can have a long and sordid history of development. I was overwhelmed by the variety of "guides" and "howtos" and questions and answers when I first started reading about the Samsung Galaxy Note. Please be kind to semi-newbs like me, we are the silent majority here. (ranting)
One more rant before I go back to sleep (it's 6:25am here in rainy Southern California),
kernel developers should NOT be allowed to name their kernels "UNIVERSAL" I was suckered in to flash a "UNIVERSAL" kernel on my ATT Note I717. That UNIVERSAL kernel was only for International Note N7000.
I know, I should've known better. Well, a lesson learned, and as someone said above, it only cost $50.
If you are referring to me in your rant, I never even referred to you in my post. I pointed out that the posted suggestion above to return to Samsung for warranty was not only fraud .. But also against xda rules to be talking about. As for the post I agreed with ... If you've been reading around here lately you know there has been a rash of "help I've bricked my phone"threads lately. Some were due to a bad link to a rom outside xda. For some reason ... a lot of users here think that Samsung should replace under warranty for their mistakes. It's not the case. Simple fact is ... once you root the phone you have no warranty. That said, I believe that there is a grey area ... a know hardware failure ..I think it is fine to revert to stock to warranty.
I'm glad you've worked you issue out and wish you luck in the future. But instead of going on a rant to people who you may need help from in the future ... ... Just saying .. don't burn any bridges.
Have a good weekend
Edit:
In rereading ... I really don't think anyone was that harsh. Some of these have gotten quite ugly.

Allright, got some needed sleep, got up and went to the post office to mail off my bricked Note to [email protected] in Texas. Priority mail to Texas from Southern Cal cost about $6 plus insurance cost $4, so all told about U$10 to mail my Note (sans batt, back cover, stylus, sim card and sdcard). According to the MobileTechVideo site, it will take about 4 business for Josh to repair it. So I'm looking at about 2 weeks before I can get mine back. Kinda wishing that I had sprung for express service for another $15-20.
I'm now regretting the rants I spewed out earlier. However, I believe I made a couple of valid observations. I am grateful to those who pointed out the jtag repair, specifically sending it for repair to mobiletechvideo. I know I can attempt the repair myself but for $50 it's well worth it for me to let a seasoned pro handle it.
One of my pet peeves is the "I am holier than you" attitude, you know the kind who goes around saying "I told you to research, make a backup nandroid, do md5 hash check on ALL your downloads, etc..." You know what, things have happened and now you're holding a brick in your hand due to whatever you did. No sense in kicking a man when he's down. How can you call it a help? And to those of you who clicked on the Thanks button to these kind of people, you know who you are, Fie on You!!!
To Bubbajoe,
Cool, I didn't mean to refer you or anyone else in my regrettable rants in my previous posts. I thought I needed to clarify that I never thought sending my bricked note to Samsung for warranty repair was an option. Thanks for pointing out that it would've constituted a fraud, had I done it. Having said that, now that the cat is out of the bag, I now know I have an option. I am sure other people who read this thread have now seen the option of sending it back to Samsung for repair under warranty. I don't want to judge people, what they do with their stuff is their private matter, I can only hope that you would do the right thing. I believe in karma, what goes around, comes around. If you gloat over other people's misfortune, your turn will come.
It seemed harsh to me. I was down and instead of helping me get up, some people were taunting and kicking me: "I told you so," "you didn't take my advice," "why didn't you read", etc, etc, etc... Do you call these advice "help" that deserved to be thanked???
From just reading the title your gonna need jtag. Its like $50-$60

Sir if your rant was directed at me I never said you were implying you were going to send it to samsung. I was only pointing out that that advice that someone else mentioned was not a good idea.
I am glad that you got in touch with mobiletechvideos to get it repaired. He has helped many people out with hard bricks around here. As for doing the repair yourself you need a riff box to do jtag and the cost of that is a lot more than what you ended up paying for Josh to do the service.
Hope to see you back up in running around here soon.

You saying they should make a retraction?
He flashed a kernel for a completely different phone. You don't need root privileges to do that. So, no, this doesn't contradict the xda position.
Buy a new gasoline fueled car, then go and put diesel fuel in it and destroy the engine. No dealer will cover that error under a warranty. You pay for your mistake and learn to double check next time.

Yeh....
We certainly don't need another heated thread.
Losing a great developer this week should be enough anger to tide us over don't you think ?
OP ....we have great people here, always doing their best to give back.
And once again, they "ALL" did ....IMHO ....
Bricking sucks, but thank goodness we have an out, unlike the old days where a guy just throws the phone in the trash and starts over.
Those guys down south do a fantastic job keeping us fixed up and going again.
It'll come back running like new...
Happy flashing ....g

While I highly respect Adam's opinion .. If you look at the attached post, you can see the statement copied directly from the Samsung website. Adam may be right ... Maybe not... But since it's Samsung we would be dealing with .. I would say the statement I made holds true. I'm not willing to fight my way to the supreme court to find out. If you are .. Let me know how it turns out. Also if you can gain root privileges without modifying or altering the electric circuitry .. Let me know that as well. Here's the link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=36727175
As far as xda .. If the official opinion is that rooting doesn't void the warranty .. I have to wonder ... If we do have a rooted user .. Say with a hardware issue that wants to claim warranty .. why are we not seeing everyone post that it's no problem .. Just send it back rooted. We see responses on how to unroot to claim warranty. Why bother? Why aren't the mods closing these threads stating that the unrooting is not needed? Additionally if I'm denied warranty, I'd venture to say that xda would not replace my phone or help me hire an attorney to fright Samsung.

Will this work with cases that we have already? For example, it just replaces the existed door, right? Doesn't add any more thickness so we can't use the existing cases we have? Thanks in advance. I'm asking because I read the reviews on the BestBuy site and two of them say that it does add bulk slightly. Just don't want to buy this thing and then find out it's a matter of using this and not being able to use my existing case with it.

Not 100% as I don't have one yet, but I think it might add some additional thickness. So my guess is you will need new case. Maybe someone who purchased already can answer this better than me.

There's one listed on 23rd street and 6th ave here in the City. I was going to go and buy it in person and try it with the tough case I bought a week or so ago already on the phone. Figure I can always return it if they don't have a restocking fee.
Will post more information tomorrow once I check it out.
Thanks for the information, regardless. Much appreciated.

It does add some thickness. Not so much that you will notice it in your hand, but enough that most fitted hard cases will not fit properly. This is a discussion worth reviewing: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2609406
I went to the BestBuy in 44th and 5th in the City. They're clueless. Two guys with "Samsung Experience Specialists" jerseys or jackets or whatever those zip up things are, the guy kept trying to sell me something COMPLETELY unrelated to what I wanted. Finally I asked him if he had the Qi-compatible charging stand and he said no. Said he only gets "about 2 in a week". I gave up and walked out.

FWIW, I live very close to Best Buy's HQ here in MN. I know a lot of good people employed by them. With BB being a hometown store here I am rarely more than 7 or 8 minutes from a store location wherever I travel in town... That said: I drive past all of them in favor of any competitor, even if I have to go further and/or spend a little more. I do not feel they practice good business ethics as a company, and I do my best boycott them. I do some consulting work, and on occasion am forced to buy a computer component from them. I have had to do this 7 times in the last 10 years, and 5 of those times ended up with a sales person who either lied, or was completely clueless sharing bogus information as fact - in spite of their being the in-store "expert". Good luck to all who shop there, but please don't count on their staff to help educate you on making a sound purchase.
