Hi guys, well like the title says. My xperia S is deleting apps sometimes. Cant understand why. Can someone please give me a solution for this?
Well my phone is last days freezing sometimes, so i have to restart phone with power button + volume up button. And this auto delete issue is occuring last days too i dunno if it has to do something with an app or something.
When the file is deleted i see in the menu as title codes or some strange letters. And the icon becomes this standard icon of xperia s from systems.
I got an screenshot please take a look; there are 2 apps deleted, i also cant figure out wich apps they were, i only know my NOVA 2 game was deleted yesterday in the same way

It happened to me too with apps moved on sd.
When you restart your phone they will pop up again. At least for me it worked.
When u restart your phone, try to wait a bit more time before to unlock it.
Thanka bro. Solved!!

Have seen this on my previous Xperia S a reboot solved the issue and everything is back looks like a bug
Its to do with the internal mem, if you install to the phone mem the apps wont vanish , if you install the the " SD " some apps vanish . When you restart the system the internal mem fires up last on boot up , hence the phone seams to already allocate its mem to phone.
I hope this is fixed asap , as it bugging me !!
As to what apps get deleted, it seams random . I have 87 apps now on my phone , and don't want to start putting them all in the phone mem!

I have this problem as well i thought it wasn't just me. Sometimes my xperia s crashes randomly when im in an app(wtf) then when i reset the phone an app might be gone. It seems everytime you restart the phone you might lose an app. So try and dont restart till they come out with a fix...
Never had this issue,Maybe a factory reset ot format the sd can solve this problem.
I have this issue constantly with eBay, PayPal, Quickoffice and insider. I now leave these apps on the phone memory. Bloody pain in the arse.

That would explain why I've not seen it then.. Having such a big memory I haven't bothered moving anything off to 'sd' yet.

This will not help.
More to do with the apps not liking the transition over to the internal storage.

So its not just me then hopefully a fix will come and I'll move them to the phone mem for now thanks for the help

Never seen this type of behaviour on my XS, however what I did have on my older Android phones was that after a reboot you can see the app icon, but on clicking it it says "App isn't installed". This is purely for "SD" apps and after a few seconds (depending on the speed of your phone) you should be able to open them, but never had them completely disappearing.

I wish recomender and timescape would disapear.
I too have the same issue in my XS..started facing this from last 2 weeks only and my XS is about seven months old! Is there something I can get corrected within warranty period from service center?
hi guys,
have a strange problem, don't know if somebody face the same thing, each time i m restarting my SXS i find that i m losing at least 2 apks, its simply disappear from home screen and when i go to settings/applications i find its there but with blank icon and not working....
any ideas ?
Yes is happening on my Phone to i reboot again and the apps Comes Back.
Don't use the Phone during the mediascanning

Yeah, I got the same issue. F***** annoying. Restart my phone and apps is gone, only a black and white paper icon on them and their process name.
Was not during mediascanning.
That's because you use a version anterior at the system apk
EG:gmail for timescape hehe
The system is 2.3.5
If you install 2.3 over it for work with gmail plugin timescape
When restart the phone it automatically delete wrong version
Even with a game that you buy on your old phone and want to run it on the S
EG:need for speed shift,you transfer
.data on the S then install the apk
And nooo license invalid and after boot the .data is auto delete (sound,files,ect..140M
This phone have security like a bank
Don't forget this :-D
Ciao
the same for me - sometimes apps come back after reboot sometimes disappear... not nice Sony
yep same here, i got that problem too... often use titanium backup for restoring
I've lost Browser and Conversations twice for now. Got them back with Root Explorer.
I am having the same issue. Randomly, 2 apps will disappear from the app tray. its annoying as i have to go back to the market to install them back. has anybody found any solution?
Same problem for me. My solution is I moved all apps internal memory. Now I have no problem.
Omfg...I lost opera, NFS shift, implus pro!!!
I'm not rooted yet, so if I reinstall app I'll lose data!!!
Disgusting!
Why does this happen?

For need for speed,if you not backed up data that on sd somewhere,
I think it be erased in external/.data
In my case yes,
i not find solution for.
Only buy the game again for this phone!
And redownload it :-(
For apk disappear at boot
I go in app setting and clear data,
It give an error
But now,
no problem at every boot for me
Always here ;-)
As previously mentioned, it is definitely a bug related to the installation on the "sdcard partition" of the internal memory, one way to fix it is to move all yours apps to the "internal memory" from the application manager.
Also the apps usually come back after a reboot or if you unmount/remount the partition.
galaxy s3 touchwiz crash when I move apps to folder. Do you have same experience

Never happened to me, have this been happening all the time since your phone been new?
Things i would try is reboot (guess you done that a few times) or do a factory reset but make a bakup before of your phone.
Sounds strange hope it works out somehow!
Why is this in themes and apps?
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
It happens when I move many apps to single folder. When I move 1 apps to folder and save nothing happens. The crash is under programs where you can see all apps.

My resolution
Hi.
I have the same exact problem with my SGS3. If I move more than one at a time to the folder the Touchwiz crashes.
My own resolution is to move one -> save, move another -> save and so on. This is slow but the only way to handle this at this time.
Otherwise the device is a really good!

Question
Hey guys I had a quick question as well. I sell these and I've had a few people complain about this. I can fix it by doing a hard reset, however when they reinstall all their apps ( at first we thought it was this causing it ) it crashes again. However, the phone has a ton of widgets and shortcuts on the home screen. Is that what is causing this? He does NOT use any folders. And anyone heard of a fix yet for this?
hi guys i just wondering why is my s3 is always lagging after i opened internet browser for a long time, well after i opened either chrome or internet browser for a long time and after that i try to go back to my home screen the widgets will come out slowly, at first i think it will be alright eventually but right now the lag is really bugging me, does anybody know how to fix it?
PS: sorry for no screen shot (because i can't do it while my phone is on the lag mode right :laugh and also my s3 is unroot,
thanks before guys, i am really sorry for my bad english

I can't say for sure. But I know some applications can cause problems. Maybe its because of others installed with it or just that app. Just something to keep in mind.
Try remove your clock widget and see how it goes.

i did try that one, but seems like the widget is not the one causing the lag, because the lag will happens in every screen

Factory reset is your best solution if you are not rooted.

about a month ago this happend to me:
out of the blue everything on my phone started FC repeatedly (whatsapp, camera, Luancher Pro, phone, etc..) so pulled out the battery and it then it didnt want to boot up so i tried a fresh install from recovery but.. recovery was crashing as well and i had to pull out the battery every time. finally afer playing a speed game with the phone i got to re install (i wiped user chache/data /dalvik ) and the problem was gone ...
these recent days some apps started FC on me but i thought i was somewhat common .. mainly Mi file explorer .. so right now my phone started to do the same thing again.. FC everything! The main one crashing is = the process com.android.phone stopped unexpectedly. i have no signal now and cant open anything.. if i pull out battery I know it wont boot up and may not let me use recovery without a hassle!
i dont know if this has to do with but when i install a rom ( i had topsmarts 1.3) i use root uninstaller to uninstall lots things i dont want like: weather and news, terminal emulater, dev tools, es explorer..
what is can be causing this problem and what can i do to fix it??? it looks like i wont be using it today because its as good as a brick right now.
edit before OP: i selected reboot and as expected its looping at the Unlocked screen:crying:
Try re-flashing it anyway... if there's a recovery problem again let us know

It's not a living thing or a machine with mechanics that suddenly doesn't work because of a misconception. If it was a misconception it would not work at all. If you solved it by reflashing, then it's a software issue and it won't happen again if your CWM image is not broken. But just to make sure I would reflash CWM to make sure it doesn't cause any trouble.
and be careful with removing system apps
Sent from my MB860 using xda app-developers app
I believe it was you removing system apps which caused your problems. You should always freeze system apps instead of uninstalling/removing them. That way if your phone starts to act up you can thaw/unfreeze them until you figure out which one is causing the issue.

Exactly. Removing system apps can result in accidental removal of base code and intrinsic system processes that are required for your ROM to function properly. These apps can probably be disabled and hidden instead of removing them altogether.

A logcat would help tremendously here. Would show exactly why things are FCing.
sorry i dont know how to do a logcat .. but the things i remove are:
es file explorer
news and weather
gtalk
terminal emulator
theme chooser
voice dailer

You really have to freeze apps one by one if you are unsure of what you are doing. On stock Blur build for example, Yahoo Authenticator can cause FC issues with your contacts if you freeze or delete it. You wouldn't think this would affect your contacts, but it does.
