When I connect this to my wireless router, I saw that the device name is "unknown". Is there anyway to change it to a custom name?
When looking through Samsung's settings menu on the device, I did not see anything. I recently rooted my device per SuperOneClick 2.3.3.
Thanks in advance.
model: YP-G70
firmware version: 2.3.5
kernel version: 2.6.35.7
build: Ginergread.ueki8
rooted via: SuperOneClick 2.3.3.

Hi,
I have the Samsung Galaxy Europa (GT-I5500) and I'm trying to update my phone to 2.2 (Froyo) through Kies and It says that this version of the device cannot be updated.
Current firmware version:
PDA:JJ6 / PHONE:JG3 / CSC:JJ2 (XEU)
On about phone:
2.1-update1
Baseband Version:
I5500XWJG3
Kernel Version:
2.6.29-perf
[email protected]#1
Build Number:
ERE27.XWJJ6
None of this flashing lark though as I haven't a clue how to do it and I would need very very specific step by step instructions etc and I really want the Legitimate 2.2 firmware.
Please help as I really want to update my phone to 2.2.
Any thoughts?
Cheers
Andrewsean85
Doesn't matter, my father used Odin to update my phone to 2.2.
No one is going to help you here, I was in a similar situation, you have to download the firmware 2.2(Froyo) that belongs to your Product code and flash it with Odin to get rid of that Kies error. Just look in the stickies.
Regards
odin is the best way just f**k of the kies it just gave me the same error but i used odin for updating
ya same here just let kies jump. use odin

flashing is simple, type into youtube 'i5500 2.2 tutorial' and have a look at that video, shows a step by step way to flash, and has all the files you need.
Hi all,
I have bought a second hand Samsung Galaxy S 2 in China.
The Android version installed is 2.3.3; I tried to do an update via Kies but I got the infamous message that "firmware update is not supported" for my device. I understand from other posts in the forum that maybe the firmware installed is not matching with the original region of the device, in this case I should install the right firmware in order to get the support from Kies, am I right?
But my question is...how do I know the original firmware/region for my model?
The data of the device are the following:
Model Number: GT-I9100
Android Version: 2.3.3
Baseband version: I9100XXKE4
Kernel version: 2.6.35.7-I9100XWKE7-CL215725 [email protected] #2 (does this mean the phone has been rooted?)
Build Number: QUENS.GINGERBREAD.XWKE7
Plus, when I connect to Kies the current firmware version detected is:
I9100XWKE7/I9100XEUKD1/I9100XXKE4/I9100XWKE7 (DBT)
Sorry for the noob question, I tried to figure out from the sticky post and used search but I am still confused...(yes, I got intimidated by the welcoming video of the forum)
Thanks

Its not posible to know without evidence guess maybe.

NO its the signature
Build Number: QUENS.GINGERBREAD.XWKE7
That reads as a custom rom by Quens ???
Plus, when I connect to Kies the current firmware version detected is:
I9100XWKE7/I9100XEUKD1/I9100XXKE4/I9100XWKE7 (DBT)
If its a i9100 and no other version pick a stock rom from the stock roms posts .
With later firmware and to match region phone is used in .

I have an NEC Medias N-04D that I have been trying to root but so far have been unsuccessful. I've tried the latest version of SuperOneClick but this gets stuck on step 7. I've tried searching around for other techniques for this phone but so far have come up empty.
The phone is currently running
Firmware Version: 2.3.6
Baseband Version: M1001701
Kernel Version: 2.6.35.11-perf [email protected] #3
Build Number: A1001701
If there is any other information that would be useful, please let me know and I will check.
Thanks
I have the same request
I have the same problem. Have you got any information? I googled for the kernel version and your inquiry was the only link that came up.
If you have succeeded in rooting your phone please let me know how.
Thank you.

Hello all,

LION JB I9100.
its original Kernel version is: (2.6.35.7-I19100jxwk-1cl647431 [email protected]#2). I restored my back up but still locked.

Give This one a try and click thanks if it helps
https://dl.dropbox.com/u/21618136/GalaxSimUnlock.apk

I couldnt unlock it
I tried too many unlockers aps from google.play but still couldnt find the way... do I need to unroot it or install a different kernel or rom?
PLEASE help me to unlock my S II
I've restored my backup but my phone is still signal locked.
have I installed the wrong kernel or what please some body, or Mods help me with my phone.
it is now GT-I9100
Android version: 2.3.5
Baseband version: I9100XXLQ6
Kernel version: 2.6.35.7-I9100XWKJ1-CL647431 [email protected] #2
Build number: GINGERBREAD.XWKJ1
Do I have to unroot or install a different kernel or ROM?
I uninstalled the LION/ROM.... I just need my phone to be unlocked so please guide me whether to unroot or what?
Appreciate your help in Advance
I installed the GALAXSIM Unlock but it says: Either your nv_data md5 file in inexistent/wrong or samsung md5 function has changed. Stopping here to prevent eventual errors.
It just defines my Device Model: GT-I9100 and all other things (IMEI,Nv/country, Nv data consistency, Network lock...etc are UNDEFINED.
so what should I do?

First off, download Root checker from playstore and see if you are rooted.
Back up EFS with kTool.
If so try installing Busybox* (Version 1 / Version 2) and keep it running in background (home button). Then install Galaxy S unlock and run it.
*If one version doesn't work, try the other one. Remember to keep it running in background.
solved
Yes even it was rooted, it didnt work so I rerooted through ODIN and installed/rooted another CF_ROOT version. Now it works great!

actually, for installing custom roms you really dont need to bother about your firmware details only your device make and model
unless you need to flash stock roms
if you are not rooted then search for siyah kernel(safest way to start) and flash it via odin
you can find the details in the forum
then flash the custom rom via recovery
