This is what I do(with a new neo V):
1.Flash to 0.42
2.Root(zergrush)
3.OTA to 0.62
4.Bootloader unlock!(s1tool)
Then, when I install rom(http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1566168) and do the all instruction.MY PHONE STUCK AT THE SE LOGO!!
And I flash it back to original 0.42, do all things again.IT STUCK AGAIN!!
Could anyone help me?
Thanks!
That is the risk unlocking by unofficial method...anyway...flash nightelf kernelV9 and then reboot in recovery...wipe data, cache, dalvik and fix permissions...reinstall the Rom...hope it fixes the problem...if u have not damaged the bootloader...then u can recover your phone easily.

try wiping everything, system,data,cache,dalvik cache.

what is the risk?
If not carefully done...one can damage the trim area and the repair of damaged trim area on s1tool website is paid service...anyways...not risky for experienced guys but for an amateur...it is definitely risky playing with the hardware....if I m not mistaking, this is the pin pint method with s1tool...right?
Sent from my MT11i using XDA
Messing with hardware is always tricky. I used test point method with s1tool, few times it cable slipped to wrong test point, but phone is ok
Anw, I was asking why you related this method to his problem.
What he should try first is to wipe everything. Stucking at boot screen is sometimes problem of not wiping system partition. Of course under condition that he DID flashed night-elf kernel
bcoz he said that he flashed the rom and it stuck on se logo..that means the phone is unable to boot...it is normal if proper wiping isnt done...but then he says he reverted to stock .42...must have done by flashtool...so...if he flashes .42 it will overwrite everything and should boot normally....but it doesnt....so i thought it may be a hardware failure due to improper unlocking.
now...if he flashed only system and left the kernel...then it is possible that the kernel is not properly installed.
anyways...u have much knowledge...i m just guessing.
---------- Post added at 05:03 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:55 PM ----------
sorry...i misunderstood his problem...he said he repeated everything from scratch...and i took it as he cant boot even on stock...my apologies.
using a different kernel may help..perhaps...but i flashed the same rom yesterday with nightelf's v9 and didnt face any problem.
I tryed it but not works fine.

But, I can flash it to stock 0.42 and open it.
All things work!
However, after I do all things, I install rom by cwm.
IT STUCKS AGAIN!WHY!
This time...flash whole .62 ftf and then flash nightelfv9 ...now install the rom and do as instructed in the rom thread.
I think it is the recovery that is causing problem.

Yes,I'm agree with you.
as it said in Rom thread you must have .62 stock and also you must have nightelf kernel for stock ,you can download from its own thread and note that kernel your picking is for which kind of Roms
Good luck

I have my Neo from a few months and I'm so proud of it. But, in the lasts week, I'm excited to receive the ICS update, so I can't wait and I tried to flash some custom rom on my NEO. First of all I have the .42 firmware stock with root and CWM installed with bootloader locked.
Before i tried to flash a custom Rom, I have unlocked the bootloader. And everything going well, but I try to flash 2 different Custom Rom both with the same result: in the reboot after the flash the NEo is stucked on the Sony Ericsson boot logo animation for an indefinite time, and i don't do nothing except to unplug the battery. So i return to the stock rom using flashtool.
But I really want to tried this custom rom based on ICS, anyone can hellp me?

i think the problem is causing because ur r flashing ICS custom rom directly on GB... flash stock ICS ftf file using flashtool, flash any custom kernel in fastboot mode using flashtool suitable for the ROM u want to flash (custom kernels has built in CWM), then goto CWM, wipe everything, flash the ROM, done... now that should work..
goto Settings > about phone > baseband to check the baseband's version

Did you do:
wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache
advanced - wipe dalvik-cache
that might solve the problem.
otherwise maybe either the rom or the kernel is corrupted, download them fresh and reinstall both.

repair using seus or pc-companion gets you back on stock firmware including kernel, your bootloader will still be unlocked.
or look in the x10mini pro development section, there might be stock kernels for flashtool available for download.

Hi all!
(Well, I have to start with that I'm hungarian so sorry for my english.)
I dont know if anyone has already mentioned this problem in other threads but i didnt find any. So my problem is that I rooted my phone with changing kernel (neoV 4.0.3) after that rooting and after rooting upgrading the latest mini pro kernel in my phone (4.1.B.0.587).
There was no problem i have managed to root my phone. After that i downloaded the cwm auto installer app from play and installed cwm. After that i installed two apps with cwm, exactly: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1705352&highlight=root
and http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1695048
After these steps i realised that my girlfriend wanted to call me but it was a missed call so i tried to call her back. And HERE IS THE PROBLEM: when i touch on the button with the green phone icon before starting to call anyone my phone collapsed and reboots itself.
Well i dont know if the problem comes from the root (maybe i did something wrong but got good result) or from the 2 apps installed with cwm and there i made some mistakes :/ well i dont know i think i did everything well but as i said i really dont know what the problem is.
Please help me!! Thank you in advance
Post the links of those two apps properly... Unable to click them directly
And as you said your phone is NEO V or Mini Pro
then why did you upload the "neo v" "latest mini pro kernel" :what::sly::banghead:
Specify your phone and kernel properly or upload a screenshot
And if you have you have installed mini pro kernel in neo V or vice versa
Then flash stock firmware via flashtool
Sent from my Smultron running CM10
I have mini pro(sk17i), but as you know mini pros dont have 4.0.3 kernel and rom cause the first ics was the 4.0.4 so i just chose a random 4.0.3 kernel (neov) and rooted that one and after the root i put the original sk17i kernel 4.1.B.0.587 back. and after that i got root permissions in my 4.0.4 ics phone with its official latest kernel. Thats all. I just followed the steps to root. and now you can see the apps' urls

I think you installed an inappropriate kernel for your device...
Download the stock firmware for your device... Flash it via Flashtool
Then again unlock your bootloader
And this time install any supported kernel like Kamarush v3 or Kernel Panic... I mean any prerooted kernel... And after you get root access just switch to latest firmware... And .587 is whole new stock firmware Not kernel...

but i also havent tried to install that app which you Predator offered me :/ im afraid of having another problem :/ and i also dont know if my phone (sk17i) is capable of running walkman player app or such as walkman player :/ pls correct me if im right or not
Hmmmmm.....
1.flash stock firmware into your XMP...
2.unlock the bootloader...
3.flash any custom kernel that have pre-rooted and CWM....
4.problem solved....
Btw, correct me if i'm wrong but isn't flashing other kernel (neo v in your case) is proof that your phone bootloader is already unlock????
My bootloader is not unlocked because im having a vodafone phone so not an unlocked phone :/ And i heard that unlocking a locked phone is very difficult and dangerous :/ ....
I recently updated my friend's X10 to 2.3.3 (she was still on 2.1 - amazing).
I went forth and unlocked the boot loader and rooted the device - no issues at all.
Now I guess I simply wanted too much. Intrigued by all the ICS ROMs lying around here I finally decided to try one.
Good so I read a few howtos, and figured I needed to flash a new kernel before I flash a new rom. First things first, right?
So I flash feralab's v4.5 kernel as it seemed to be in a stable state. The next step would have been to install Vashida Reddys 003 ROM but I didn't get that far. Flashtool told me the kernel flash was successful... unfortunately the phone didn't boot anymore. Or only until the green Sony Ericsson logo
Desperately I downloaded SEUS and went back to stock.
What is it I did wrong? :-/

Is it the right order to flash the kernel first and custom ics rom afterwards?

okay.. I'll give it another shot. If you are new to all this all these colorful threads with hundreds of posts to read are quite a chaos you know
If you take that rom, you need that kernel and afterwards you need these fixes and gapps and this shiny addon pack etc. etc. Oh well anything else would be too easy
do I use fastboot mode or flashmode to flash a kernel .ftf file?
Edit: Found another thread. The information there was inconclusive but apparently flashmode is the right choice.
Fun Fact. In Fera's V4 ROM the English installer says: Thanks for choosing feralabs or something similar. However the German translation says "You will regret choosing feralabs". I hope I don't

So did everything work out? If your friend wants all features working on her phone I suggest you stick to gingerbread. DonutHD stock gingerbread is a really nice fast and most importantly stable on. You could find it in the development section.
Ps. You need to be on stock kernel so you should flash 2.3.3 again(if not already done) and root and go from there. Do this if your a good friend ics for x10 us just not there yet. Give my regards.

You SHOULD have updated the kernel according the instructions in the ROM-threads, which you failed to do. Now I guess you've flashed the x10blrelock.ftf? In that case, your phone needs a JTAG.

Phone-repair shops have a JTAG-box that can restore the original firmware using special connections inside your phone. You'll have to pay for it to get your phone working again.
