Hi all. I woke up my tab one afternoon and noticed that the screen was very messed up. I've done lots of Googling and searching but the only problems I find are the "newtons rings" problem... I'm not sure if tthat is what I'm experiencing, but the screen is very messed up, and I have no clue what to do. I am still under the manufacturer warranty, but I'm afraid that if I send it in that they find traces of root, mods, etc. even though I odined to stock. I've attacked pics of what it looks like on some apps/sites, but tthe coloration issue is everywhere. Hopefully its nothing to do with the hardware, but I'd like to hear other opinions. Can someone help me out? thanks.
I think the problem was me ODIN'ing something for a P7105, whatever that is It included a system, recovery, and boot IMG file, so I'm thinking incompatibilty issues.
So I decided to ODIN to complete stock. I went to the "Look here first" thread, and went to this link [ROM]Stock US Retail WiFi listed in the "Available dowloads section". I download the boot_hc31.zip, recovery_hc31.zip, and system_hc31.zip and I know they contain IMG files. My question is how do I go about flashing them? again, I appreciate any help

I'm curious of the answer also. I got the IMG files.
I'm guessing you have to restore it with CWM. Try it.
Alright, I've tried posting on a few other sites, but nobody seems to reply, so let me give this one a try!
Last night my phone went crazy? It started flashing & then just shut itself off. It turned back on, only to be completely wiped out. No applications, no contacts, nothing whatsoever.
I didn't feel like messing with it then, so I waited until this morning, where I've gotten absolutely no where with it. I've tried to do the factory reset, & even erased my sd card to see if that was the problem. Wrong!
The jist of it all -- I have two main problems! One is I can't download any applications. I go into the market place & it says, "Sorry there's not enough space to install this item" -- Clearly, I have enough space! & secondly anytime I turn my phone back on I have to go through everything again. Google account, language select because it keeps resetting itself.
Please tell me someone knows what I'm suppose to do to fix this!!
Also, I've been looking around on the threads & I see a lot of things about bricked phones & how to recover things & I'm just completely confused. So hopefully it's a rather easy fix ..
First thing is, what rom did you flash?
are you even on a custom rom?
If you are on a custom rom what you need to do is to boot into CWM and Factory reset then wipe cache, then go into advanced and wipe dalvik cache. this will bring you back to your custom roms default, you will have no settings or installed programs [other than what came with the rom].
Sounds like something is in one of the locations taking up all of your room.
Enjoy
also not to nit pick but "Need Help Please" is more of a statement, other wise you are asking if you need help.

Oh also Best guide by far and is up to date on everything!

I haven't downloaded anything personal, so I don't know why this has happened. I'm not one of those techy people. The only thing I've ever had downloaded was your regular "fun" applications. Facebook, mp3 downloader, a stupid piano thing, & then some brain test deal. That's it!
As I was looking around, I noticed that I have no internal memory & based on reading through threads, that's why my phone completely resets everytime I turn it back on.
I went to the "wipe cache partition" & that was a success, then tried to do a "factory reset" it says, "Your storage not prepard yet, please use UI menu for fomat & reboot actions" What's that?
According to your statement, you are on a stock rom. Correct?
If so, i dont know why it wouldnt let you do a factory reset.
But if the clearing of cache worked then problem solved.
Also may want to read up that link i gave you on installing a custom rom its fun
Im on whatever it comes with when the phone is sent to me. I've literally maybe had this phone about two months. I don't know how to install anything, so I think I'm (excuse my language) ****ED! & I have no idea what I'm suppose to di about it. Calling Verizon now to get some help.
you are not ****ed! these phones are tanks and it is almost impossible to brick them!
This will help you get completely stock [what the phone comes with]
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1238070
Go to Section 2:
And follow the directions exactly! and in step 3 of section 2 use the second link [stock eh03] and that is the upto date Verizon version of the phone and stop after step 10. if you follow the directions it is easy as pie!
You can have Verizon just apply the newest firmware to the device again by going to a retail store and asking for it.
That should fix it.
Hi, This topic should have been a reply to the AiO one on the development board but since the board software thinks I'm too new to post to developments forums I'm forced to create a new topic here on General, So I'm really sorry if I did something wrong (Guess what, I'm new!)
So, I wanted to upgrade my Tablet S to a pre-rooted ICS while I had a 3.2.1r2.
I rooted it, did all the steps to have a working custom_update.zip,while flashing the custom_update thing, text warned me that I was flashing the pre-rooted, init.d'ed, whatever custom rom, so I though it was all going to be fine..
Then I discovered that Superuser wasn't there, neither was busybox and basically root in general was gone, while the "rescure-backdoor" wasn't.
Checking the topics I discovered that my best solution was to downgrade to 3.2.1r2 and do the whole thing again.
So that's what I did, I wiped the whole system and Honeycomb started without problem, except that it turns back to not-really-pre-rooted ICS the next time I reboot.
This wouldn't be a problem if it wasn't for the fact that I need to reboot the tablet some times to get root, and I need root to decrypt and prepare the custom update.
So, what am I doing wrong? I searched here and there and didn't find a solution yet .
Sometimes you need to do a factory reset or else it flips back to ICS from HC. I haven't always had to do it; I'm not sure what the contributing factor is there. Essentially there are two system partitions (system0 and system1) and the bootloader makes a decision on which one to boot based on unknown criteria. It can be a bit quirky after downgrading, but a factory reset seems to clear it up.
SOLVED.. but how?
I knew that, I wiped everything each time I reverted to 3.2.1, maybe I forgot to mention that.
But it didn't directly boot to ICS, it did boot to Honeycomb, THEN the next time I boot I'm back to ICS again.
I did manage to stop this, however.. how? I don't know, something like the 4/5th time I re-flashed it worked.

Wipe before first boot of 3.2.1 is VERY IMPORTANT.
Downgrade step-by-step is described in AiO thread in FAQ section.

Hi there just wondered firstly if someone had hacked my android galaxy s3 would rooting it back to its original firmware wipe any hack that had been done?
And secondly - well basically the story is someone dodgy got hold of my s3 phone unlocked when I wasn't looking but they definitely did something on it. It might all be nothing but I did notice in one of the clipboards copy n paste windows the last one had this : *start. now I have searched for what this could be but I have had no luck - if anyone can guess that would be great too but in the mean time I guess I will root back to the original firmware and update to 4.1.2 again (After backing up stuff via kies). Thanks for any help!

"Rooting" is not the correct term. You mean "restoring." Anyways, yes, restoring your device to stock will remove anything which they may have placed on your device.
It could easily be the code to a run a script so be careful. Restoring to stock would be a wise thing to do just to be safe .

Restoring to stock and erasing the SD card would remove anything which may have been placed, so there is no other place to "hide" anything. Cheers .

Hello everyone,
First of all, I am apologizing if my problem was somewhere on forum, i have searched but didnt found anything similar.
I have rooted i9300, and tried to put Imperium KitKat v3.0 firmware, (without previously backup) and i have successfully done until one point. Phone is on, but without any network signal, no sim detected. Then, i have searched the forum for the problem, and found that IMEI was lost, and the problem was in EFS folder. Found one tutorial how to correct a mistake, but i failed in it, and the phone is at this moment without "nv_data.bin", "nv_data.bin.md5". After that, wandering the internet, found another tutorial which says that the sammobile . com have a lot of factory firmwares, and I think ive found mine (t-mobile germany). Downloaded it, tried to put with ODIN via PDA (auto reboot and f.reset time checked), successfully done, and.... while phone turns on, it only comes to the SAMSUNG logo, led switches between cyan and blue, and stays here. System wont boot. Could you help me how to awake my phone?

have you tried data wipe after flashing from odin?
Thank you, thank you, thank you... Im pretty sure that i've done it and before, but it wouldn't got up. This morning, when i've saw your post, i have done it as you said, and OMG, it worked. :good:
I will use this opportunity to ask one more thing. Is it now possible, to put Imperium KitKat v3.0 firmware, but this time not to erase IMEI and EFS folder?

How did you recover the efs folder? Did you have a backup? I´ve installed lots of ROMs but its still not working. Please please please reply and help me with this. You already know what it feels.
i havent recovered the efs file, ive just downloaded official ROM from the sammobile . com and flashed with it. after flashing wipe data, and it should run.

I´ve done that but i couldn´t recover it.
You should make a backup this time if you want to change your ROM again.
try to manually erase those two files in efs folder, then to reinstall rom. nv_data.bin", "nv_data.bin.md5".
