Hello all...So yesterday, my Aria all of a sudden shut off and then restarted...I thought that was strange but thought nothing of it other than a glitch, however a few minutes later, it shut off again and now it won't get past the HTC screen and continues to boot loop at that screen. Running CM7
Anyone know anything I can do? Am I screwed? Has my Aria bit the dust? I was hoping that it would hold out until the One XL came out or the SIII
thanks,
Mike

You don't have to get to the bootscreen to access recovery. Can you get into the bootloader?

I can get into the bootloader, however when I select recovery, the white HTC screen shows (as it always did before I got into recovery) that is the "boot screen" that I can't get past...not the cyanogen boot screen

Same issue, can't get past HTC screen
Hi, I know this is an old thread but I have the same problem and I'm wondering how you even got into the bootloader; I can't get past the HTC screen; it's looping; does a little vibrate, blanks for a second, then back to HTC (I flashed a bad gapps). Anyway holding down buttons isn't getting me anywhere and I don't have a computer I can plug it into. Any ideas?

Turn phone completely off. If you can't do that, remove the battery so it turns completely off, then put it back in.
Press and hold the volume down button. Press the power button. Continue to hold the volume down button until the HBOOT screen appears, then you can release.
If you continue to have problems, try doing the same process but hold the trackball button instead of the volume down button. This should take you to the FASTBOOT screen, but from there you can select "Bootloader" from the list of choices to go into HBOOT.
Make sure the USB cable is not connected while you're doing this.

Hi guys, I am feeling really nervous about this... So, the problem is, that I've just rooted my HTC GSM Hero and installed 2.2 ROM (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=767886). Then I downloaded this app http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=892297. There I chose wrong icon (I didn't notice the icon was for FroydVillain) and rebooted device... Now I can't boot device into normal mode (it shows hero for a while, then turns into black screen, and nothing more happens) or recovery mode (it stucks when it shows HERO). Stay calm... it's not necessarily bricked yet
First thing i would like you to do is charge your phone to max!
Try and turn on the phone and hold to "On" key and "Home" key together for 60 seconds. If this doesn't boot you to recovery, try again one more time! It's happened to me that i didn't realise the button wasn't pressed all the way down.
If that doesn't work then let it boot as normal and even though it goes to the black screen don't panic.
Do you have any of the android tools installed?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=502010
See there for help on how to get adb up and running and then come back here.
Another thing i'm curious about while we're here... when you boot the device as normal.. connect it to power, the orange (or green) led at the top should be off for a few seconds while the hero boots up... when it goes to this black screen that you see.. does the light come on?

When my phone is off, the led is red. When I see that black screen, it is off... Is that bad??
Not necessarily.. it could just mean that it's not finishing it's boot up... let it charge for a while.
Your phone is most likely fine. You just confused it so it can't start up normally. We'll get you back in recovery mode and then you can reinstall your 2.2 rom.

I'm assuming, that You know how to get into recovery, as You flashed a couple of things. Perhaps Your home key is broken
Question: do You have adb set up on Your computer? if yes - does it recognize Your phone ?
There is always option to run RRU...have You tried that ?

Yes, I have ADB, but when I type adb devices, it only writes: "List of devices attached" (does that mean that it recognize my phone?)
I'm not sure I know what RRU is

Yes, it finds HEROIMG,zip, then loads it, then checks it, and adter that nothing happens - the phone still doesn't boot.
ok, volume down key response is good
ADB apears not to discover Your phone, probably drivers problem ;/
Look for RRU file it's used for factory reseting entire phone.
You can download it from HTC.com site.

EDIT: go to htc.com site. look for downlaoding software for Your phone. You will have to provide Your imei. and You will receive .exe file - that You will have to run on Your PC. You can also look for it on this forum, they should be around here somewhere (or perhaps shipped roms.com)

Maybe there's some way to flash my recovery img via hboot (POWER + VOLUME DOWN)?
Try downloading usbdeview HERE plug the phone in,turn it on,leave it for 10-15 seconds for windows to recognize it...load usbdeview and uninstall and delete anything with android, htc, mass storage or adb in it thats showing as connected (on the right hand side) unplug phone......then download and install HTC Sync HERE let it install, then reboot (to be safe) plug the phone in and let its do its business,DONT let windows search and direct it to program files/htc sync/drivers (or similar) you should then have adb! If you dont it could be a problem with your misc.img i had this with my magic and fixed it with a post on this forum but will post it up if the first bit doesnt work
Any troubles gtalk me [email protected]

So here's the gist of it all...
I have an HTC Evo 4G LTE (which is why I'm in this forum) that has been unlocked and rooted using the HTC-Method and is still S-ON. I am using TWRP and my rom is the MeanRom ICS version 4.9. I didn't change any of the settings (i.e. I didn't change any of the values that would affect performance). My phone has been working fine up until this point which is why I am currently asking you all for your help. Last I checked everything was working fine until my phone tried to connect to multiple WiFi access points at the same time and the system crashed I'm guessing and is currently looping.
I have tried a hard reset by holding down the power button til the soft keys blinked and the phone turned off, but it boots itself back up and goes into a loop again. It won't stay turned off and won't completely turn off. I have tried holding the power and up button to get into recovery and it doesn't do anything. I've tried holding the up button as it goes into the next loop to no avail.
For those familiar with MeanRom, it goes past the HTC screen that says this rom is for development purposes etc...then shows the little blue, roaring android, and finally gets the the MeanRom ICS boot logo. At start up there is a buzz like a text message comes in and right before the phone fully boots there is a smaller, softer vibration. My phone gets to this point and then freezes and reboots.
Sorry for the long post, but I figured the more information I give, the better my chances of getting some help. The battery was at about 85% when it went into this bootloop so I'm going to try and just have it discharge itself and charge it up and see what happens. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

It vibrates, hangs, then reboots again.
When you try to get into the bootloader are you sure you're letting go? Once the phone turns off you need to let go of power and then hold power and volume down. Some people seem to think you hold power and volume down till the phone restarts and keep holding it, I don't know how people came to that conclusion.

Complete noob here, sorry if this is a repost
I haven't been able to find a situation exactly like mine. If there is, I apologize in advance for this being a repost. Yes, I am a stupid noob. I had my EVO 4G LTE on HBOOT 1.19 and I unlocked the bootloader, flashed recovery and did all the necessary steps (including kernel adaptations) to flash CM10. Upon doing this I also got stuck in the bootloop and couldn't access recovery. I took it to a Sprint store and they somehow got it back to TWRP recovery and it's currently at the TWRP menu. Here's the problem: I didn't do a backup before doing any of this and I don't have anything to backup to (shoot me). I'm afraid that if i try to get back to the bootloader menu that I will screw it up even more. What do I do/download to get it back to stock? Any help toward this desperate noob would be extremely appreciated

Hi all,
I am trying to flash another JB rom the other day.
I just turned off the Prime completely, and try to enter the recovery mode by holding power and down, then up within 5 seconds...
It then showed the Android laying down with the heart opened:silly:
I have to holding power to restart and boot normally into the rom.
I didn't do any wipe or flashing at all...
Later, I restart and now totally stuck on the splash screen with "ASUS", not even able to boot in to the rom I'm currently using...
Any help?!
Thanks

He has to be unlocked otherwise he wouldn't have had a different rom on there or recovery before.
Hold down the power button and volume down button for 10 seconds, keep holding them until the screen with all the icons on it appear (recovery, wipe, usb icon etc) look up the top at the writing and at the end of the line with bootloader in it is a long number that starts with 9 or a 10. What number is it ?

Hi McJesus, before this happened, I was using this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1911024
and I am trying to shift to shis one
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1982156
I was trying to enter the recovery mode to prepare wipe and flash procesure, I remember I used to use TWRP, but failed, it stopped at the "dead Android" icon, and I could get out only by restarting.
Then I researched and installed Goo and Rom manager, yet, just installed those, not done any flashing or wipe whatsoever.
Then start doing recovery mode, failed, normal boot, totally hanged, on the splash screen with "Asus"...I coudle restart with holding the power buttom though.
The device is unlocked.
Thanks for helping,

I was doing a backup with TWRP and everything seemed to go just fine. Then after a reboot i unlocked the phone to notice that it was leaving the lock-screen icons on the bottom of the page. I still had access to my notification bar and could clear notifications. Figuring that there had just been a mistake in the boot process, I held the power button to restart the phone. Well it never brought up my power menu to restart. Also instead of making me wait ten seconds until it flashed its lights and restarted, it just restarted in like 3 seconds. Now my phone is stuck on the HTC ONE screen and will not respond to anything including hold the power button.
My phone is rooted an s-off. I know that I have not posted at all on here, but I have been rooting and know how at least the basics on adb shell. I just have never had a phone lock up to this point. If I can at least get to recovery, I should have 2 or 3 backups to run. I just don't want to have to wait for the phone battery to die just to hope I can get to recovery.

Are you saying volume up + power button does not restart your phone nor does any help? Check if your phone is detected in computer and if so you can issue and adb reboot command
also since there is no removable battery HTC added a reboot function press home vol down and power that should do the trick
The phone is not detected by a computer, nor will it charge. Vol down and power is not cutting it off. Right now I am waiting for the battery to die so I can hopefully boot into recovery and do a restore.
Vol up + Power was the key. I was thinking it was volume down. Thanks for all your help

Just wanted to point out I ran into this issue also (Stuck on white HTC boot screen) after wiping my ROM and Vol UP + Power did the trick for me also (and then Vol Down + Power to get back to the bootloader).
i need help, guys
so attempting to install a new rom, i must have dont something wrong because now restarting the phone will leave me on the htc logo loop and restart. i still have access to hboot and fastboot. but when attempting to load into twrp, it shows the team win logo for half a second and then restarts the phone. then i installed cwm and it does boot into it but whatever option i pick, install zip, wipe data, ANYTHING, restarts the phone.
i have no idea what to do. i tried installing a rom using adb sideload but it stops at around 80%, ive tried installing different versions of twrp and cwm and same thing. i think it is bricked. im using the verizon htc one max. the only option i see left is the ruu toolkit but ive only been able to find the sprint version and then it says that bootloader needs to be locked and i have not idea how to do that from hboot, fastboot, or cwm
attempting to install superuser also fails
if there's anyone here that can help, please, any suggestions will be appreciated. thanks =

May I suggest following these instructions?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=51753483&postcount=129
If you're able to complete those instructions outlined in that post, this should set you up with the latest HBOOT, Radio and TWRP (Recovery) for the Verizon HTC One.
Make sure you read the post fully before you start, especially this part:
fastboot flash zip firmware.zip (Be sure it finishes saying 'successful', not 'please flush again immediately'. If it says the flush again, rerun the command)
If you succeed in getting that done, see if TWRP still causes the phone to reboot and get back to us.
Alright, so I literally just received a replacement phone after having my Galaxy s4 broken for about 3 months. So naturally the first thing I do it is try to root it so I can get CM on it, but the factory the updated my phone to the VRUEMJ7 build, which apparently you can't actually hard root... so whatever, I do the saferoot, and use Hashcode's Safestrap recovery. But, for some reason I always feel the need to test **** that I don't understand, so in his recovery I switched the active ROM to the stock rom, then tried to reset to factory default, deleting all the data and whatnot, thinking I would be able to get more space for my CM partition. Welp, now my phone is stuck at the Samsung/Custom lock spash screen, and I don't think I can boot into Odin (it's still volume rocker up + power button, right?)
So, is my phone now hard bricked, or it there anything I can do about it? I'm downloading the image from this thread as I type this, but I'm not sure I can use it considering when I try to boot into Odin the blue text flashes in the upper right corner like normal, but then the screen goes black while I continue holding the buttons, and doesn't do anything until I release them, which causes it to just go back to the bricked splash screen.
Halp!!!

Halp!!!

You reset your stock rom My advice is to read up on what you can and can't flash, and if you have even the slightest doubt, ask someone on the forums for, help. That saved me loads of time and stress.
ODIN/Download Mode
Make sure your device is completely off
Key(s): Volume Down
While holding this key down simultaneously press the Power button until you see a disclaimer on the screen
Then let go of both buttons and press Volume Up to accept the disclaimer
Once the green robot is visible on the screen this indicates that handset is in now ODIN/Download mode
Recovery Mode
Make sure your device is completely off
Key(s): Volume Up
While holding this key down simultaneously press the Power button
As soon as the phone vibrates, let go of the Power button but keep holding Volume Up
When you see the "Samsung Galaxy S4" logo (not just the word "Samsung"), right after that, the next screen you should see is your recovery
Don't let go of Volume Up until you see your recovery

I know, I'm an idiot. :/
When I try to boot into Odin the android doesn't pop up though, the screen goes black while I have the buttons held, and just goes back to the boot screen after I let them go.

Sorry, not to sound ungrateful for the help, but I feel like you're not reading what I'm saying :/. I would love to be able to do that, but as of right now I'm unable to get into Odin. Unless you can get into Odin using ADB or something of the sort that won't help me.

ah my fault
You can always enter download/Odin mode. Hold the HOME button and the volume down button when powering on until the screen turns on.

Take the battery out and wait ten mins then put it back then try to boot in download mode. If you didnt flash over sbl 1-3 and aboot you should still be able to get into download mode. If not boot into recovery mode then clear cache and then try to boot to download mode. And what blue text in the upper right corner are you talking about? Download mode doesnt display that and recovery displays blue text in the upper left.

I posted in the Safestrap thread asking for help too, and someone pointed out that you need to hold the buttons for Odin and release them when the phone vibrates, and I was keeping them help. Thanks so much for the help guys, I should be able to flash the recovery image and save my phone now.
