[Q] Splashtop not working correctly since update .21 - Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime

Hey all,
It seems that since the latest update .21 Splashtop Remote stops working after connecting with my PC. This happens when I log into the PC with my google account. It has worked extremely smooth before.
Any suggestion/people with the same problem?

Hi, I got the same problem when using the my cloud app, the HD version and the THD version from a remote locaction. 3 bars of connectivity are required otherwise the apps do not connect or give a black screen. Before they were all working properly with less connectivity bars. However on .21 ones connected it works fine again, though I do get disconnected every 20 minuters or so..

Aren't their anymore ppl with this problem?
I did see one post saying fw .21 has decreased wifi performance, it would seem unlikely as it went from 20fps? to about 1 frame per minute.

I don't exactly know why, but the problem seems to be over for me. What I think I did was to connect first on a LAN connection and then connecting via my google account. After a few tries that seemed to work for me.

Torrent

My TFP is coming in tomorrow, and I'm stoked. I've been stuck using my girlfriends computer, so it'll be nice to use something other then my cell phone for internet and what not.
I'm not sure how torrent programs run on the Android OS. So my question is which program runs the best and what kind of performance can I expect of it being that it's running on a mobile platform.
Thanks,
Spartan

TTorent in Market, the lite version has a limit of 250kb/s if you buy the full version for 3$ you can unlocked the speed to anything you like. Also other than it freezing my tablet once an awhile on my Galaxy Tab 10.1 (haven't used it on my prime yet) its a solid app.

Do you have the option to chose a directory to save the torrent in. I.E. a external hdd?
You can't save any file to a HDD on the prime as it has no USB port but I would suggest adownloader as its free and has no limit
You have two options for a usb port.
A) An adapter made by Asus to be plugged in the charging port.
B) Use the Dock. Which has a USB port.
And do these two programs work as well as a pc version?
Adownloader works good, no major problem.

+ 1 its the best
ADownloader works well, but I don't think it handles magnet links.
I'm currently using ttorrent lite and it doesn't cap me at 250. Never froze on me and it allows for feeds and automatic downloading :-D.
Tmobile g2x with Phoenix Blood.
Asus transformer Prime ICS with root.
aDownloader is the best one!
It freezes your tablet for some moments if it passes above 2-2.5 megabytes download, but you can cap the dl speed in settings.
ADownload
I using aDownloader and its pretty good. Sometimes i do have issues like it not actually starting a torrent. But other than that find a torrent with high seeds and it has no problems at all. Couple of advanced settings as well make it that bit easier.
Would be nice to get a tablet version of it though. Would make it easier and more user friendly.
I use nzbleech, I download the nzbs from nzbmatrix, download straight to my tablet and then unrar with unrar pro. This also helps with the issue of copying 4+ gb files making windows explorer crash on my pc

Is there a setting I need to change to be able to download torrents? I've tried atorrent, ttorrent, and aDownloader, and none of them seem to be able to start downloading. I use private sites, and don't have any problems with any other computers on the network. Thanks!
I've tried Ttorrent but had to stop using it because I had letters sent to me from my service provider about Copy Rights laws:/ I guess I had it coming.
aTorrent works well. It takes a while to access the trackers and get the d/l started. Any torrent program you use is going to fetch a torrent download. Their system flags when a certain number of them are d/led for certain ISP's. You can use certain programs like peerguardian to act like an adblocker for snoopers. The ISP's don't care about the pieces you d/l, but the torrent file. It causes problems even with linux distros and other programs that are torrented to save server space and traffic.

You are talking about newsgroup binary downloading. He wanted information about torrent. That's not the same.
But I agree, I prefer using newsgroup...

It wasn't from my ISP. A third party was informing my ISP that someone from my IP address was downloading illegally. In the letter had the torrent movies that was downloaded, date and time too.
Edit: I may have forgotten to set the Encryption to "Forced" back then maybe the reason why.

2-2.5mb d/l? That is awesome! I sit 10 feet from my router and can't get over 300kb d/l on my prime.

Enable UpNP on your router (or look for the ports and forward them to the correct pc)
plus, you also got to run the PC software of Splashtop in order to find computers.
Thanks, I ended up buying the THD version that came out today and it works.
I had the PC service running already. Router was setup that way too.
The myCloud myDesktop version is still having the same problem.as described in OP even though the THD one is working. I'll keep trying to figure out out and update this post if I find a solution so someone else might get help if they should encounter this problem.

I have thought of that. That might be country related. Kind of absurd if they don't say anything about it tho.
All is alright now. Connects very fast. New apps, games , staff , and music tons .

Update .21 is the latest update (although another is right around the corner) and the one you need. I don't have mine yet, so I'm not too sure, but as soon as you connect it and slide the locking mechanism over then it's connected. You have to turn your GPS on under your settings and it should be using the dongle. Have a walk outside, put it on and slide the lock, turn your GPS on and run GPS Test or something similar. Remove dongle and test again, you should see a huge decrease in performance if it performs without the dongle at all.
to be honest i have never seen any problem with the gps, i know its not really a great benchmark but seems just as good as my galaxy s.
i will run the tests with and without but didnt seem any quicker to lock when i popped outside a while ago. wasnt sure it was actually working which is why i posted this. wondered if it showed up anywhere similar to when the dock is in place.

.22 is the latest update. It was forced so you wouldn't have seen it happen. Being rooted doesn't stop updates. I am rooted and it updated itself days ago. It contained the fixes for the dongle to work. For those who are unlocked, you have to wait for your ROM writer to add the code. Gary has said that ASUS are looking to release a version of NVFlash for those who are unlocked.

Really? I suppose you're one of the rare few who has relatively decent GPS reception somehow. Good for you lol, I hate you
I suppose the only way to really be sure is to disconnect the internal GPS from its antenna and then use the dongle. Surely there would be a way for the system to realize the dongle is inserted and to let the end-user know about it. I mean, they tell us to type words with the keyboard, I just can't believe they're not telling us we've plugged the dongle in. I wonder if some kind of Tasker profile couldn't differentiate between it and the dock, I doubt it?

Um, what? .22? What country and are you sure you don't mean .21? I keep my Prime's WiFi on 24/7 and my DMClient unfrozen, just manually checked and no update.
i am unlocked not rooted so i cant get anymore updates from asus. am on the latest .21 . updated before my prime was so kindly unlocked.

Any good?
Does the dongle make a marked difference in reception?
none at all as far as i can see.
could be
1. not working / user error
2. my prime gps was working ok to start with.
hoping there is someway to get feedback from the prime to let me know its using the dongle

I have the dongle
It definitely helps my gps but it dose look bad.
Maybe a company may start making skins for the dongle to make them more attractive and protected. Exposed dongles isn't good. It' not immuned to bumps and bruises.

My bad. Typo on my part. Of course it is .21!!
i think the dongle is well designed. locks in place and fairly discreet considering. could have been an ugly block like a usb stick or the camera add on thingy for the ipod.
i found it makes a nice handle when reading a book

I'll pull out my inner demandarin real quick to say do not apply direct pressure to the dongle - don't use it as an actual handle!
That being said, IMO it would be OK so long as you have larger hands and are pretty careful about it, just don't go trying to support your entire tablet with it. Don't support the tablet at all with it actually, seriously, going to feel terrible if you accidentally crack your screen lol
well didnt actually mean just the dongle. just adds a bit of a ridge to stop and slippage while holding

YouTube application constantly buffering, hardly ever just works like it should?

Is this just a problem with YouTube? I can hardly go through any videos without it having to buffer every 30 seconds( Atty which point i have to put the tablet down so i don't smash it)... Its very annoying.
Yes, same here. It takes forever to open a video

I seem to have that problem with about the same speed connection, intrigued to know why
Sounds like a router problem for some people.

Maybe try clearing youtube app data.
See if that helps.
It works great for me. No problems at all even being a couple rooms away from router.

youtube has always performed poorly for me, in two different physical locations with various different hardware and two different ISPs. my guess is that it's my location and there's just not a good connection to youtube. i generally have to either download the clips or pause it and let it preload for a while.
May be a router issue? YouTube constantly buffers for me when on 2.4ghz. The only part of our house that has 5ghz is around my room area, and when I got there and connected to 5ghz, the YouTube app never buffered at all (except for the start of course) anymore.
Same here on my laptop as well as my tablet....
I have been using the rolle tube apk, which is the old YouTube and it works good for me on 3g speeds, tethering with my s3.
Sent from my Nexus 10 using xda premium
I have the same issue too. seems like the app refuses to stream faster than 2 to 3 mbps. I have a 150mbps down connection (get around 30 on wifi) and it always buffers when Im watching vids in HD.
Tablet app has no options for buffering or even the "pre-load watch later" option that my phone does...?
Have buffering problems, BUT also I get hangs when ever I change orientation and/or click on the sharing button.
