CWM 3.0.2.8 Recovery works good and stable on Viewsonic ViewPad 7.
Thank you again Googlehome, you're the best.
Not working for me on HWVer 1.06 and Android 2.2.2.
Won't let install me. Not enough memory when flashing.
CWRecovery 2.x works.

Is your device running low on internal storage and/or available RAM ?
It was a quick & easy install/update for me - did it right after I re-flash one of the custom ROM upon rooting & the Vpad7 running. Followed instructions above & it was done - then, I restore settings, etc.
The newer Recovery is much improved & better, with more options to choose from. It shouldn't take up much, if any memory, to flash & install this at all ....
80 mb ram left...
flashed over cwrecovery 2.x and got errors.
i didn't try restarting the device - instead i reflashed cwrecovery 2.x and got no errors.
I also tried it with ROM Manager.
I manually select N700... and then CW 3.x.x
When trying to install i get an error message that installing went wrong.
If I install it manually via Shell I get many error messages (see posting before). Looks like the partition table is a bit changed since the CW 2.x is smaller than CW 3.x.

(Re-reading your posts) So, this is while you are trying to flash the downloaded recovery.img file saved to mSD card using Terminal connected to PC, and it even popped up with CWM 2.x ?
Tried using a fully wiped clean & different mSD card (re-formatted on PC with FAT32 or FAT) - I use a spare 2 GB or 4 GB mSD card to try out new Roms to avoid having to "corrupt" or risk losing all the "stuff" on the fast 16GB mSD card.
Have a spare PC or do it on a different one with another OS - Vista, Windows 7, etc. (done mine with XP SP3) & substitute a different mini-usb cable ? It seemed that the data transfer process between the "machines" could be the problem - a bad "connector" ?
Maybe try a fresh copy of your toolkits like fastboot-adB, su & busybox - SDK etc. are in the same directory/folder - and not missing ?
Here's a XDA link to a useful shell tool - Droid Explorer - good for exploring what's on your device - use it with extreme caution as the "Tools" it provided can be used to flash ROM, etc. (NOT tested or proven to work specifically with Vpad7 .... fine to use it to identify & read data, etc.) - http://de.codeplex.com/
Thanks, but I flashed it with "flash_image" and the tool "Shell Commander" directly on the device.
I used this tutorial for Clockwork 2.x...
http://android.modaco.com/topic/324042-clockwork-recovery-for-mi700n700viewpad-7/
And the same way I flashed Clockwork 3.x from the first post here.
The Clockwork Recovery 2.x I am using has 4.591.616 bytes.
Clockwork 3.x has 4.745.216 bytes - so it seems to me it's too big for the recovery partition.

Those *.img files aren't the right size - I checked mine & also copies of the download that I kept, CWM 3.x is ONLY 4,484 kb or 4.37 MB in size (named: cwrecovery.img)
Similar recovery *.img are somewhere between 4 and 5 MB in size only including the stock recovery.img that I've saved. You might want to re-download using Googlehome's dropbox link on top of this post and tried it.
Then, connect device via usb cable to computer, execute terminal and push it onto device (follow GH's steps) I felt that those steps outline in the MoDaCo site a bit confusing when rooting - of course, that's just me (and, I ended up using GingerBreak to root, but 2nd. time around - the One Click worked too)
Something just doesn't look right from you description ....
That's what I did...
Flashing the same way CWR 2.5.1.2. results in no errors and a flashed recovery.
PS: I already tried downloading from the dropbox link several times, copied it over to my SD. No success when flashing...
PPS: 2 GB free on SD, 54 MB free internal memory and 181+77 MB free RAM.
Maybe you have the wrong flash_image. There are at least two different versions of it here on XDA, and I had trouble with one of them on my VPad. Unfortunately, I don't have my device atm.

what should I do???
i dont have a zlimage file or initramfs.cpio.gz file
help me please...
Hi guy.
Which rom do you want install?
If you want to keep archos firmware and have root, install Chulri's kernel. It works like a charm. Just download the kernel (see his post) and unpack it, it calls avosxxxx if my memory is good. Select the kernel correspond to your version of rom.
Try others rom with different kernel and initramfs.cpio.gz, like bull rc2 or urukdroid.
Read the 'how to' it's usefull
Else try recover -> reset android or reformat device AFTER download another rom on archos website ( aos file).

Read the end of my answer. You can reset android system. Search in menu, i have remove archos kernel and uses only sde. i don't remember exactly the name of this menu.

Try this:
Backup yours data if you need - all data will be wipe after the reformat device.
Download this:
If you have a 70 first gen:
h_ttp://update.archos.com/8/gen8/gen8_2.4.83/firmware_archos_android_gen8.aos
If you have a 70B froyo version:
h_ttp://update.archos.com/8/gen8v2/gen8v2_2.4.83/firmware_archos_android_gen8.aos
-Go to boot menu (vol up+power)
-enter recovery menu
-format system
-reformat device
** connect the tab to sector and wait the full format **
after the format, it tells you to put the image file on the tab.
Looks your drive and put the AOS file on the drive's tab.
press power to validate after the transfert and the tab reinstall fully the system.
I hope that will help you.

Under SDE:
Try to reinstall your wifi app, and reset all cache and uninstall it again.
If it doesn't worked, try to go to /data/app/ and remove the app. Next go to /data/data/ and remove all files in relation with your wifi software. (use rootexplorer or other similar app).

There is no poweruser, you might mean superuser.
And as you can only be using Chulri's root, you can find the cure in the first post there under the point about the UnionFS.

Hello everyone. Let's see if anybody can help me, because I'm pretty stuck with this.
Note: I've already searched high and low for solutions to the "Signature verification failed", but they either don't work or don't apply here.
I've tried to install the following ROM from xda-developers in a Sanei N10:
Unofficial CyanogenMod 10 for many AllWinner A10 tablets
I've installed it following the usual procedure:
- Press Vol+ and Power to get the Recovery menu
- Select Wipe data/factory reset
- Select Wipe cache
- Install the three ZIP files: "cm10_a10_20120913.zip", "gapps-jb-20120726-signed.zip" & "n10_compatibility_1.2.1.zip"
The problem is, even though the first ZIP with the ROM installs successfully, the second one (the one with Google's apps) refuses to install, showing instead the message "signature verification failed". The same happens with the third ZIP (N10 compatibility).
So the installation doesn't actually finish. If I reboot the tablet, it runs Cyanogenmod 10, but the touchscreen doesn't work (I have to plug a USB mouse to interact with the operating system).
So what do I do to avoid the dreaded "signature verification failed" message? Just in case if it's of any help to identify the problem, I'll mention that I can see the Android bot laying down with a red triangle with an exclamation when entering the Recovery menu.
I've tried to use the ROM Manager which is preinstalled with Cyanogenmod 10, but when choosing "Flash ClockworkMod Recovery" it says that "The SD Card needs to be mounted to use ROM Manager". Of course my MicroSD is properly mounted (I can see its files in the card from console, from the "Terminal Emulator"). I think this happens because the MicroSD is mounted in /storage/sdcard1 instead of in /storage/sdcard0, but I can't change that. I can't download APKs from the browser, either, because it also says something similar about not being able to access the SD (even though it's correctly mounted and can see it mounted from Settings > Storage).
I've also tried the CyanogenMod A10 ROM available in this page, which is more recent (October instead of September):
http://www.slatedroid.com/topic/3870...mod-10-tweaks/
But the same happens.
I've even tried installing the CWM Recovery ROM, but it doesn't let me installing that from the Recovery either (same message about the "signature"), and with Odin3 it doesn't work either because I don't know how to reach the "download mode", which is needed for Odin3. Pressing Vol+ and Power I get the Recovery, but not the Download mode. Does anyone know how do I get to the download mode in the Sanei N10?
Any idea about how to solve this? Right now I have a tablet with no touchscreen and not even Google applications (so I don't even have the Play Store), so it's practically worthless (at least the WiFi works). How can I get this tablet back to being usable?
Did you fix this? I want to get this tablet and most likely want to root and rom it but if this is the case...

No, unfortunately I still couldn't fix it
There's nobody here in xda-developers who can help me? Surely somebody must know enough to help me find a solution.
I've tried creating a symbolic link from /storage/sdcard1 to /storage/sdcard (it doesn't exist right now), but it just says "link failed Read-only file system" (I was root, by typing "su" and clicking "Allow" in the Superuser window). So, I can't create symbolic links even while being root user? I need this link so ROM Manager can detect my SD Card (it says it's not mounted but it really is, but in "/storage/sdcard1").
Also, the gapps package linked in the ROM page above seems not to be properly signed, even though it has that "-signed" suffix in its name. I always get that "signature verification failed" error message. But now I've tried downloading a more recent gapps package (gapps-jb-20121011-signed.zip) and that package finally worked! BUT, even though it apparently installed successfully, I still can't see any Play Store icon, nor any other Google app (Gmail, etc.). Why? Those icons should appear after installing gapps, shouldn't they? Maybe this newer "gapps" package is somehow incompatible with this tablet? (is this even possible?).
Also, even though I can now install the newer "gapps" package, I still can't install the "n10_compatibility_1.2.1.zip" file (I still get "signature verification failed" for that ZIP), which, I guess, contains the drivers needed for the N10 so the touchscreen works (currently it doesn't, and I have to use a USB mouse to use Android in this tablet). Any ideas? I'm getting tired of trying 9485738489754935627 things with no good result . I guess Android is showing here its Linux roots...
I think the key here is managing to install a new Recovery ROM that doesn't care about signing, but how do I do that? I can't install through ROM Manager because I get that error about the SDCard needing to be mounted to use it (and it's really mounted), and then I can't create the /storage/sdcard symbolic link because I get that "link failed Read-only file system" error. Also, I can't use Odin3 because I can't manage to put this tablet in Download Mode. Aaaargh! There's no good solution
Any ideas?
Bump!
I have same problem, i think that we need a different compatibility file, or perhaps if we could open install any app like Novo7 we could fix it... hope that anyone have the solution.

Thanks for replying. If we could find some way to install a new Recovery, then we'd probably by able to get the N10 Compatibility file working. This can't be that hard to do, but I've tried lots of things, and none of them worked...

Please let me know if you find a solution to this. Thanks!
I'm having the same issue with [ROM][CM10/10.1][21 Dec] Codename Lungo
Well, at last I could finally solve the problem thanks to chris5s from this forum.
These are the steps that worked for me:
1. Download the latest ClockWorkMod for Allwinner A10 tablets from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1802268
2. Put all three files in the ZIP inside the root of a MicroSD card and insert it in the tablet
3. Check from the Terminal app inside the tablet to see if the MicroSD card is mounted in /sdcard (just type "ls /sdcard").
4. If the "ls" command doesn't show anything (that's what happened in my case), then you must modify the "install-recovery.sh" file and replace all instances of "/sdcard" with "/mnt/extsd".
5. With the proper "install-recovery.sh" file, run the commands specified in the above xda link (in my case the card is in "/mnt/extsd" instead of "/mnt/sdcard" as the original example shows):
su
cd /mnt/extsd
sh install-recovery.sh
sh reboot-recovery.sh
6. The tablet will then reboot to CWM recovery. Then follow the regular steps to install Cyanogenmod (wipe plus install ROM + GApps + Compatibility). This time the Recovery menu won't care about the files being unsigned and will install them right away!
I hope this helps somebody else!

Hello "lesanei"
I just noticed your posts. Let's see if I can help you...
The touchscreen doesn't work because the appropriate drivers were not installed (because of the "signature verification failed" issue). So you need to connect a USB mouse (and preferably a keyboard too) to the tablet. The Sanei N10 should come with a USB to micro-USB adapter. If you don't have it, you can buy it for cheap here.
Since there is only the one USB input in the tablet, you can't connect two USB devices at the same time. What I did use is a wireless mouse+keyboard combo which only needed one USB dongle for reception. If you don't have that, you can just connect a USB mouse and type with the on-screen-keyboard using the mouse. It's annoying, but it works
When I say "modify the install-recovery.sh file", I mean the file inside "cwm_recovery_6.0.1.2_a10.zip". You can modify it from your PC if you prefer. You don't have to do it in the tablet if you don't know how to use the "vi" editor (command line editor). Just open the "install-recovery.sh" file in Wordpad (do not use the Notepad, because it doesn't support Unix line endings so it shows the file incorrectly) and replace all instances of "/sdcard" with "/mnt/extsd". So the file contents should look like this:
#!/system/bin/sh
if busybox test ! -f /mnt/extsd/recovery.img; then
echo no /mnt/extsd/recovery.img
exit 1
fi
cat /mnt/extsd/recovery.img > /dev/block/nandg
sync; sync; sync
echo done
Click to collapse
Then place all three files ("recovery.img", "install-recovery.sh" and "reboot-recovery.sh") into your MicroSD card. Then safely extract it from your PC, insert it in the tablet and type this from the Terminal:
su
cd /mnt/extsd
sh install-recovery.sh
sh reboot-recovery.sh
Click to collapse
Then follow the regular steps to install Cyanogenmod and this time all files should install sucessfully, so when rebooting, touchscreen and everything else will work.
Let me know if it works for you.
Hi all,
I need your help with the following tablet 9" GT90H with Allview A23 CPU/ chipset and android 4.2. I want to backup the ROM, to perform few modifications and to upload the modified image to the tablet, but I am stuck on the first phase (cannot dump the rom).
I tried several ways to do it (actually that I found) to dump/ backup the stock ROM but I was stuck on all of them. First I tried using the clockwork way, but unfortunately my tablet is not supported (and I could not find supported MOD). Then I tried with romdump, but unfortunately I was stuck because the tablet does not have /proc/mnt file. Finally I found a way using the rkdump method but I had non recognize image error (although I am not sure if I found the correct partition to back up - /dev/block/by-name/recovery ). I have doubts if this is the correct partition, because I did a binary copy using dd to a file, which ended up with size around 32 MB (which I found too small for a recovery image).
So that is why I decided to seek help from more advance users (this is my first tablet, and first android experience) and I believe this forum is the right place for that.
My first request is could someone guide how to make a proper ROM backup, that I would be able to restore later?
In addition I want to ask is it possible, once I backed up the ROM, to modify for example the home page (because on the current ROM the home page for all browsers that I install is http://www.baidu.com)?
Moreover I would like to to install the ROM on external memory card and to run the tablet from there (because the internal memory of this table is too low - 8GB but for the system partition I have only 500 mb, which are all occupied with pre installed software). Is this something that I can achieve (android as far as I know is *unix system, and in theory this should be possible)?
Thank you in advance.
For increase space you can use Terminal Emulator for market and must have root on tablet.
Open terminal , and run the commands :
pm get-install-location (this will show you where apps are installing in this moment)
Auto device install is 0 (the tablet chose auto where to install apps, usuale is chosing to internal memory, your 500mb )
internal memory is 1 (Tablet memory - your 500mb )
External memory is 2 this is where you want to instal apps - (your 8GB )
After run the comand and see the sistem is set to AUTO (0) you will run this :
pm set-install-location 2 - This will force apps to instal in your 8gb
to check if is ok , run again : pm-get-install-location
exit terminal emulator
Good luck ! Hope it help you
Problem with my GT90H
Hey Guys,
I have a Problem with my GT90H. It stops to boot at the screen: Tablet PC - Keep Moving Forward.
If i go in the recovery mode. I can reboot the system, but it stops at the same screen like I explained in my first sentence.
The Factory Reset doesn't work. So I read in some communitys that Tablets can be flashed with a new ROM (Android System) over the USB Port from the Computer.
So can anybody send me the Android 4.2.2 Image for my GT90H ?
It's very important. So thanks.
Thanks for your help.

Hello,
first of all sorry for my bad english
i have a samsung galaxy J6 and i need to unlock the sim network, when i search in the forum i found this topic so to be able to do that i need to root the phone, when i download the official TWRP i flush it with odin it's not working, he stay with the original recovery, so i need to flash it 2 time to work, when it's done i have another problem when i want to flush the last SuperSu or Magisk zip file, i have this error : Unable to mount /data or /system error
so i search in internet for a solution i found that i need to go in recovery / wipe / select data / repair or change file system / change file system / and select F2FS then do the same to go back in EXT4, but i dont have "F2SF" !!! i have EXT2/3/4 and FAT ans exFAT
when i do choose FAT and go back to EXT4 it seem ok and i can flush SuperSu file with recovery, but when it reboot, it's stuck in the boot animation and reboot again and again and again, so i need to flush the official stock room to make it start...
can anyone help please ? i am lost
PS : the bootloader is unlock
You will most likely need to FORMAT DATA (not just a wipe) to get over the /data not mounting
This is because your stock kernel enforces encryption.
You will lose all data by doing this, though.

From TWRP, go to WIPE and you should see an option down there to FORMAT DATA. It will ask you to type "yes" on the keyboard to continue. That is how you format data
Anyone please can tell me how they get this phone into download mode?
I have been trying until 4 AM last night searching the internet and this forum but it seems impossible to get to download mode
I can go to (the original) recovery and this happens when i press power + up but also when i press power + down or power + up + down.
I bought it yesterday and i am about to sell it again because an unrooted phone is simply useless for me (needed for android auto in my car)

I am from Poland and it would be nice if he had this language but also enough with English.

I am from Poland and it would be nice if he had this language but also enough with English.

No, Samsung only has this phone running on 32 bits. Can't run in 64 bits even if the processor supports it. Only people that can make it run 64 bit is Samsung themselves.
Hello, did you find a solution to root or instal, TWRP in this device?
I couldn't find too threads about this model (SM-G600FN)
If someone could help me I will be really pleased.

Hello,
first of all sorry for my bad english
i have a samsung galaxy J6 and i need to unlock the sim network, when i search in the forum i found this topic so to be able to do that i need to root the phone, when i download the official TWRP i flush it with odin it's not working, he stay with the original recovery, so i need to flash it 2 time to work, when it's done i have another problem when i want to flush the last SuperSu or Magisk zip file, i have this error : Unable to mount /data or /system error
so i search in internet for a solution i found that i need to go in recovery / wipe / select data / repair or change file system / change file system / and select F2FS then do the same to go back in EXT4, but i dont have "F2SF" !!! i have EXT2/3/4 and FAT ans exFAT
when i do choose FAT and go back to EXT4 it seem ok and i can flush SuperSu file with recovery, but when it reboot, it's stuck in the boot animation and reboot again and again and again, so i need to flush the official stock room to make it start...
can anyone help please ? i am lost
PS : the bootloader is unlock
