I think what you need is actaully something to Root stock roms right?
So look here

Yeah, that looks about right, many thanks. Any chance you could point me at tutorial so I can understand what "Streakmod" is and how to work with it?

I'm very grateful for the link, but it's a bit of a Pandora's box, as the first instruction is to "Unzip and flash with: fastboot -i 0x413c flash recovery recovery.img". I've never Flashed before, have no idea how to, so I now need a help file on how to flash before I can run Streakmod before I can then finally root!
Try as I may, I simply can't find anywhere a beginners guide to rooting. Surely one must exist somewhere?
Before someone posts the quote about "no spoon feeding here"; I'm not asking to be spoon fed, I'm simply asking for some guidance as to where I can find information that I need to read in order to learn - FROM SCRATCH - how to root.
Can anyone please help with pointing me in the right direction?

And in your other thread I suggested looking at the flashing guide in the wiki. However, Radimus has posted a guide to rooting that I used to root mine. Search for one of his posts because his flashing guide is in his signature.

[Q] Someone please explain x10i custom rom

couldn't find a proper answer for this so started a thread.
hope i'm not scolded.
i came across some pictures of custom roms for xperia x10i (using this phone now not the rom) but totally clueless how to do it. can someone post a step by step? my phone is currently not modified in any way at all.
first let me say these guys are gonna chew u out for posting this in the wrong thread lol
next. u need to give them some info about your phone before they( or we) can help you.
like firmware perhaps ?
in any means ur best bet at first is to look into the flashtool program to
root, jit, and if needed. dualtouch your phone.
from there u can also install xrecovery and then build understanding of the roms.
its really quite simple. read through a couple of the rom threads for the instructions to flash them. or even better. go on youtube once you find a rom u may want.
and a visual explanation should help more understanding and show you how easy it actually is.
good luck!
First, you would need to root your X10i device (if you are on the latest stock firmware, use the flashtool to root)
then install busybox FROM market
then install xRecovery (a detailed tutorial is included in this forum, also there's a youtube video to show you how to do it)
after you've done the preparation steps above, then download the rom you want to use, save it on your sd card
boot into xRecovery and choose "Install custom zip"
choose your rom and wait
Remark: some roms require full wipe
you need to first do some reading to build at least a little understanding of what and how flashing a rom is going to do.
then from there once u have at least the basics, the people here will be able to help you.
its in the best interest of your phone just to make sure u dont do something wrong.
but as i mentioned in the post above. watching things done in video would probably help allot. people tend to be better visual learners

Please go HERE
To add/change almost everything you need more access than the usual and to do that you need root access.
What`s that?!
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rooting_(Android_OS)
After that you just had to explore xda. Think? You got it...
With the tool on first link you can do all the tweaks you need to improve your phone. You just have to be sure of:
1. What do i have?!
2. What do i want?
Don´t ever install ANYTHING without read, read, read, read, read, read and make sure that what you want to install is the correct baseband, firmware, blá, blá, blá for you.

Rooting stock V20C (2.3.3)

Hi folks...
According to reports on this forum, some people seem to have managed rooting their stock 2.3.3 roms.
However, I don't seem to be able to do this
I used the official LG update tool to upgrade to V20C, and it looks like I have a perfectly working Gingerbread installation, but when I try to root (using Gingerbreak, which I thought should work), nothing happens (Gingerbreak keeps running without changing anything).
In the DEV forum FAQ, there is no information about rooting GB roms (yet).
If anyone who successfully did this, would care to comment, I'd be very much obliged
thanks

Either that or do this:
in ADB:
adb devices
adb shell
echo 1 > /data/local/lge_adb.conf
then open superoneclick and root (using psneuter).
Thanks, that worked fine. First time I tried I had some problems but I must have done something wrong

Use the EXE installer since obviously you have no clue what you are doing.
crap... didn't see the text file. adb has been moved to platform-tools. sorry
Doktornotor seems to have disappeared (deleted?) and his signature's gone with him also, it's impossible now to search on his username.
Does anyone have a link to the thread where he describes how to root by flashing? I'm probably too stupid to wrap my head around the search function on this site because I really can't find the thread. (by the way I don't think it was the general thread where he tells you how to flash gingerbead)

what is ROM, CWM, FW, and others term in android ? :P

so like title say i dont know what they are
please give me the link to read explanation about that term
or if you want to help me explain about it just post here. thank you
Google "what is ____ in Android", possibly replacing Android with the name of your device.
Check the stickies in your device specific subfora.
These are questions that have been answered a million times. Don't root your phone if you don't know what a rom is. It's kinda like buying a car when you don't know how to drive.
Go to this thread it has all you need to know! I found it very helpful when i was getting into rooting my android

In layman's terms:
ROM - This could refer to either the device's internal memory or a custom/official firmware it's running.
CWM - ClockworkMod - A custom recovery.
FW - Firmware.

How to root S3?

Can someone please help me step by step how to root S3 i9300 and install recovery and custom rom? Or can anyone link a good video tutorial?
Is it safe to use ROM manager to install a recovery? I know some years ago that program was not safe.

But okey, nvm guys I figure it out myself.
even being old the process remains the same... just folow the instructions in this link and you will be rooted

[Q] Help unroot can't root again!

Hey guys, I have a little problem I tried to find the solution in other posts, but I didn't found it, so this is my last hope... I hope you can help me.
So I have an Asus Memo Pad HD7, and I rooted it using framaroot 1.9.3, then one day it appeared a firmware actualization in my notification bar, I updated NY android and then after some days I just wanted to check if the unroot option in the framaroot worked, well my mistake it worked to well, after I clicked I rebooted and them the supersu was gone and I had unrooted tablet again, but when I tried to root again it told me it was rooted and then after reboot it wasn't... I can't root it again
The weird part is that recently I made another firmware actualization and supersu appeared magically in my phone, I tried to start it, but it showed an error saying my phone was unrooted... then I uninstalled supersu and tried to root again, but I can't...
Please help!
P.s: I didn't instal any rooms and I already tried factory reset in settings.
P.s.s: The weirdest part is that people say they unrooted to do a firmware update, while I did it with my rooted tablet. And Avast says my device is running in high privilege mode, but Root Checker says it's not.
Please any help will be appreciated!
Without knowing which firmware you are on now, it's not really possible to tell you how to reroot correctly.

I don't have the device, so I can't really help directly, but I mean, there's a picture guide with stuff circled that you need to do. If it's too complicated then it would be wise to invest in having a qualified shop or tech to help.

How is downgrading any easier than the root guide for the current version you're on...?
I think rooting via Fastboot is safer than framaroot.

I provided the link to what you need already. It's on the 2nd post of the thread. It has a step by step with pictures. You need to unlock the bootloader and install the custom recovery so you can install the superuser zip. If you can't follow the picture guide, then you should really enlist the help of someone who does this for a living since this is your only tablet and are very unsure of yourself.
