Ok I am working on a fascinate and that is on stock EH03 none of the CWM or Root methods are working. I tried odin to flash the CWM and it fails but when I reset and flash it gets me back to stock recovery. I tried re downloading the package and it still is not working the one click root method does not work either. What am I missing here because my searches are coming up empty. I am downloading the Heimdall right now to try to start fresh but just in case this comes up again...any ideas?
Just for the sake of argument, have you tried the files and specific instructions from Droidstyle's guide yet?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1238070
I have yet to hear of a functioning Fascinate that could resist more than a few Odin rooting attempts while following these instructions.

How is it failing? In ODIN? Are you sure you're putting your phone in download mode? Which file are you using?
FYI, SuperOneClick did not work for me either. I rooted my EH03 using ODIN/CWM method outlined in droidstyle's guide.

How can I install TWRP on my unrooted Note? and Which is the easiest way to install it?
Searching through the forums I haven't found any specific instructions but if I've read correctly it seems that through ODIN is the easiest way.
Where can I get the latest ODIN for the Note i717?
Could someone be so kind to provide some instructions and links?
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
You don't need to be rooted to flash a rom or install a recovery. Root is for access to the system files of the rom after it boots and loads.

How can I install a recovery without having to root my phone first? What's the procedure
All the instructions I've found require the Note to rooted first.
Rom already on sdcard.
Recovery tar in Odin.
Flash recovery with Odin
Boot into new recovery and flash rom.
Rom will be rooted once booted.
Bingo, the EASIEST way th go from bones stock to custom rom.

thanks for this , man..my wife's Note was never rooted, and she wants it done, so I will try this way..
sounds waaaaay too easy though!
I didn't mention that that this method will trip the flash counter
As I don't give one care about what my flash counter says unless I get a hardware defect within my year of ownership I didn't mention that before.
There are ways to reset it so don't even worry about until the day comes where you need to.
And just where do we find the TWRP. tar...... That we flash with Odin.....
All I see is how to Install TWRP using
GOO MANAGER..... And that requires root..
Which the OP doesn't want to do....
Thanks...

flash the CWM tar first, and after you go through all the other steps, and are rooted, download and install TWRP..
Like the above poster said, but skip the root step. So CWR using Odin and occasionally, then TWRP by using CWR, done.
Ok..... So we need the CWR.tar, for Odin...
Any links please?
Then.... We need the TWRP file to put on our SD...
Any link to the TWRP too please?
Thanks for all your help...
In keeping the OP's note un-rooted...
See the super everything thread. The tar file is there. The TWRP zip is in the original development thread.
Hey guys. Thanks for the responses.
I see that some of you are recommending to odin CWR and then use CWR to flash TWRP.
On the TWRP page there is this link to the following page http://goo.im/devs/OpenRecovery/sgh-i717/ which has the different TWRP files and there is a TWRP .tar file. File name: openrecovery-twrp-2.3.2.3-quincyatt.img.tar
Can I just odin the above file instead of odin CWR first?
Where can I find the latest ODIN? I've looked for downloads but haven't found it. A link would be much appreciated.
Once again, thanks.

good question.....
coul;dnt he just Odin the TWRP .tar alone??
And skip the Odin CWR all together??
PS... Thanks for the direct Link to the Latest Odin!!!!
Yup
As long as its a .tar and contains a recovery.img whichever you choose is just that, your choice.
I tried to do AdamOutler's unlock bootloader stuff, and when i flashed the unlocked bootloader file in his thread i got a boot loop, so i tried to flash the stock bootloader file also in his thread. now i get the yellow triangle saying i need to take it back to the store. i can still flash with odin and i just tried to flash the unlocked bootloader again and now i get a fail message in odin.
please help!
even if i can get back to the bootloop i'm willing to take it back to verizon at this point. i just dont want to do that with the yellow triangle, i could just make up some something for the bootloop.

the first thing you ever do before flashing anything on your device is have a stock rom to odin back on. second your not following directions. third your device is not bricked...flashing back to stock will bring it back.
I'm having a similar issue. I had followed adam's protocol for rooting and unlocking using CASUAL; once the process was completed I received a notification claiming that my device was now 'rooted and unlocked.' I then proceeded to download ROM manager and flash clockwork recovery and upon reboot receive the 'system software not authorized' message. At this point I attempted to use the official ODIN provided in droidstyle's guide on root/unlock/etc thread. I see a successful flash of the image but still cannot get out of the unauthorized system software error. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

i did! that's why i was a bit surprised that it didn't work. i downloaded both the VRALJB 4.1.1 stock image and pit file, placed them into their corresponding locations in ODIN and flashed away. should i be allowing ODIN to repartition the disk? (thanks for the help droidstyle!)

Edited:Sorry read your earlier post. Not sure how to help sorry
Hello all,
About a week ago I ran into a problem with my phone which I thought was a software, which actually turned out to be a hardware issue with my sim card. Cutting a long story short, I flashed the official stock rom with Odin V1.85, and it passed and everything was back to default factory settings.
Having now got my issue fixed, I wanted to re-root my phone, in order to go back to the old ROM I was using [UltimaROM v12]. However after flashing various versions of CWM I cannot get my phone to root. I'm no stranger using Odin, I can usually install a new version of CWM in 30 seconds, but my phone is persistent on not rooting. I can't work out if maybe I've done something wrong, but it doesn't seem to be working.
I've tried running as Admin on W7, but it doesn't make a difference, I'd appreciate if one of you guys could help, as I used the search bar before, but it seems no-one has had this problem before.
Modem: XXEMC2
Kernel: Stock
ROM: Stock
Use TWRP or Philz recovery .

I've tried those too, they don't work either.

The problem is the recoveries will look as if they've installed fine through Odin getting a "passed" flag, but when I go to recovery it's still the default Android recovery. Therefore no root.
What root method are you using?
Chainfire one I believe. You basically install CWM recovery, then install SuperSU from .zip in CWM.
So you have rooted but can't install recovery?
Just flash one with mobile Odin,
Nope, no root yet, because I can't flash SuperSU.zip 'cause I'm still on the default recovery.
Just use the old cf root then update the recovery or use framaroot and flash recovery with mobile Odin
cf-root roots the phone as well as changes the stock recovery to cwm recovery! is this the exact one you flashed? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1695238

ok so i know the SACS thread is closed. i was reading on youtube that the reason that V4 was giving people (including me) network problems is because of the baseband. its saying to be on version N900PVPUCNC5. i checked and im on Version N9000PVPUCNAB. im just asking for a little help. i really like sacs. so is there any way to revert to N900PVPUCNC5 so i can make v4 work? any suggestions will help. thanks.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2715034 nab is the old version. You are most likely having problems because you need to upgrade (not revert) to nc5. Read through that link then grab the file and flash in Odin. After you Odin to nc5 you will need to reinstall a recovery so make sure you have that file ready. After you install recovery you need to wipe everything including your internal sd and system. Reboot recovery and install sacs rom. Not much to it just sounds like there is a lot.

Hey so I followed the thread. I'm now on NC5. But my phone isn't rooted. (Or not rooted properly from what root checker is saying) I tried rooting with Odin. I even flashed the recovery twrp through odin. Nothing. Any ideas on what I'm doing wrong?

So, I recently accidentally deleted my /media/ folder and now when trying to boot to recovery it reboot, but will still go into Download mode. How can I fix this? I'm trying to unroot and update, I'm on ME7 - Verizon. Can I use ODIN to fix this?
Odin should do the trick, and you should odin to nc5, it has alot of great roms for safestrap. Just use odin 3.07 and above, and download the full wipe .tar of what version you want, and odin back to stock

I was able to get ODIN to do what I wanted, but when I tried to flash NG6 over NC5 to downgrade, it didn't let me, and gave me the fused 6 binary 5 issue. How do I fix this?
I think this could possibly help. Just follow the no wipe instructions and you should be good. http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s4-verizon/general/downgrade-ng6-to-nc5-t2910933
