My SGS2 hasn't been able to sync with Google Calendar for a week now. The error I get is "Sync is currently experiencing problems. It will be back shortly."
All other services sync fine, though. Email, Chrome Beta, Contacts and so on.
I've tried everything, deleted calendar data, deleted the actual calendar application, formatted with backup, and upgraded the ROM three times.
Any tips?

Hi all,
Just some strange behaviour in regards to my calendar. I added a bunch of entries in my Google Calendar, which synced fine to my phone. But I deleted all entries in Google, did a number of manual syncs and phone reboots, but the entries are still remaining in the phone calendar. They are completely gone in Google Calendar.
Any ideas?
Well I went through and deleted all the data from anything Calendar related which removed everything, now it's syncing with Google. However, it doesn't show my "Other Calendars". I have simple calendar widget which displays my other calendars in the options, but the stock calendar doesn't show them at all.
Edit: OK it looks like an issue with Facebook birthdays export. Just created a new calendar, exported the Facebook birthdays into this and all is good. Not surprised Google and Facebook aren't playing nicely!
I have this same problem, and I want to delete 'the data from anything calendar related'.
How do I do this?
Where is the calendar data stored?
Just purchased a Streak running Android 2.3.3. I set up my gmail account on phone and everything looked ok. Mail and calendar appear to sync fine but only a few contacts synced. When I open Settings/Accts & Sync, the gmail account shows and sync is turned on.But if I open Contacts/menu/Accounts, gmail does not appear and if I try to add an account, gmail is not present as an option. How do I get the google contacts to sync?
If I remember right you have to go into your Google Contacts on a web browser and move all your contacts into your My Contacts area.
problem solved
I discovered the problem. I had used Root Uninstaller to freeze the Google Sync application at the time I was trying to reduce the apps I didn't think I would need. Now everything in sync. Thanks
Hello, everything was working great, but since yesterday I lost sync with google calendar and gmail.
Google contacts are in place though. I tried a hardware reset, deleted everything and re-entered google details but no luck - the calendar doesn't sync.
Do you have any feedback? Thanks.
Has anyone else had a problem with their Google contacts syncing to their phone. I get the "Sync is currently experiencing problems. It will be back shortly message". I can download contacts from Google but it will not upload the new contacts i put into my phone from just regular day to day usage... I have backed up all my contacts on both sides then deleted all the contacts off my phone and my google account. I have wiped the data on the people app, contacts storage app, and the google account sync... I have deleted the groups and favorites... but still when i try to sync up it still give me the sync error... Has anyone else had this problem? Oh im running the Viper DNA rom btw.
This problem has appeared on all KitKat roms I've tried (full wipe, no Titanium restore, stock kernel)
The stock calendar says "Error communicating with Google servers".
When installing the Google Calendar from Play Store, all of a sudden the stock calendar syncs and they both give reminders. Since duplicate reminders are kind of a hassle, I tried uninstalling the Google Calendar from Play Store. This causes the stock calendar to lose sync functionality again.
Has anyone else encountered this?
