[Q] Is there a generic non-regional firmware? - Sony Xperia P, U, Sola, Go

Hi,
When I was using a blackberry, if there was an update, there were a generic non-regional firmware where there is no region specific bloatware. Is such a version available for the XS? I ask this due to the fact that over in the development section there are a few region specific firmwares available however, flashing them will also mean you get that region specific bloatware as well as being limited to the restrictions of that particular region (ie. some apps not being allowed to install with the Singapore version). Thanks.

There was a generic version for .67, but I do not believe a region-agnostic version has been uploaded for .73 yet.

[Q] Generic or Branded Firmware

what it's beter Generic or Branded Firmware?or what is the difference?
I prefer stock it is clean and hassle free.Branded firmwares has some apps localized or free as a gift.It is up to you.
I couldn't wait to get rid of the branded firmware. I only want apps that I choose.
branded firmwares doesn't have genuine functions or apps or settings that are available from generic firmware. generic firmware is pure form of factory apps and settings. it has nothing pre-installed in it for example the apps that are available from your cell phone provider.

Official Version for ace

Hello.
I want to install a new rom that it an official version for my ace.
The problem is, that there are versions that specific for a country.
My question is which version i need for my country?
I live is Israel.
Thank you very much.
Go here and select your region. Then flash with ODIN.
Yes, but there is no my country. Is there a difference between the countries?
The csc file is differente between countries, that means system language, keyboard language and some preinstalled app.
If u want official check for upgrade with kies or via OTA on setting\info\firmware upgrade\update (eventually check the wifi option)
Thank you both very much

which ics?

just wondering which version of the ics update is the best/most stable for me to install on my uk unbranded (3114) phone?
been waiting ages now, and interested in trying ics, but who knows when the official update will arrive for the uk
the nordic combined is the one that's reccommended in one of the stickied threads....anyone from the uk have any experience with this? or should i keep waiting for uk generic update?
There're no differences between different countries firmwares other than some bloatware apps, hence the version number is the same for all.
You can flash any of them, and it will work in your country.

Hong Kong SGS II Firmware Update?

Hi Guys
I have a SGSII, which I got in Hong Kong a couple of years ago. It came pre-installed with Stock Samsung Firmware ICS 4.0.3. I currently living in the UK and was wondering if I did a Firmware update using Kites, would it install you UK version of the firmware instead of the HK version?
If it's got the HK firmware/CSC on it, it will update to the latest for that region; where you are now is irrelevant, it reads the CSC info off the phone to determine what firmware to upgrade to, assuming there is a later firmware for that region.
But it's a moot point. Why would you use Kies for anything ? Flash whatever stock rom for whatever region you want with Odin.

To be honest, I am a noobie when it comes to the advanced aspects of android devices. So I've always followed the mantra of always following the manufacturer's instructions to the letter. Also I don't want to loose all my user data for my game of Asphalt g

Xz1 annoyingly slow updates and regions issue.

Could someone please explain why my NEW Xz1 phone (and Sony companion) think that I have the latest updates when according to XperiFirm much newer versions exist. Currently I have:
47.1.A.2.281 currently installed on the phone yet
47.1.A.12.235 is the latest available in other geographical areas.
Is it ok to flash this latest one from a different geographical area onto my phone ?
I live in New Zealand and was considering flashing a UK Customized 47.1.A.12.235
I would use Flashtool by Androxyde.
Would this void my warranty ?
Why is it that Sony put out updates but we just don't get to see them - who's dragging the chain here ?
And since posting the above I'm aware that two more updates have happened:
47.1.A.12.270
47.1.A.16.20
WTF is going on ? Why are we not getting ANY updates ?

You can flash firmware from other region, but you may lose FOTA update pushes, this means you can only upgrade your firmware through Flashtool or other similar tools in the future.
As for the warranty, I have no idea about it, but I have already flashed my Chinese version XZ1 to Malaysian firmware, since the Chinese firmware does not have any Google apps, and it just works fine, I also replaced the oem.sin file from Chinese firmware to Malaysian firmware in order to have VoLTE enabled.
But as I mentioned before, I lose FOTA after flashed my phone, so I have to download the entire firmware via XperiFirm and flash it manually. If you flash the original firmware without modifications, you may not lose FOTA, if you do so, please tell me!
EDIT: You can only flash firmware matches your model, so don't flash a G8342 firmware into a G8341 or other.
