wth??? i thought it was the rom i was running, but i clean stock restored back to eho3 stock gingerbread, i tried calling *228, successful then i rebooted..no 3g, then i called *22801 successful, rebooted....STILL no 3g!!!!!! WTF
eh03 is verizon stock gingerbread for the fascinate... you need eh09 or ei20 stock.
yea i found out that ive been installing fascinate roms on my cspire showcase....and today i flash stock back to the ei20 and i dialed *228 and still no dice AND i rerooted and then rebooted..then i turned it off three fingered into recovery and then i installed datafix.zip and then rebooted and still no go.....

Try one of the recent ics roms. Aokp gummy and the cm9 kangs should all have working data for the showcase.

I have to go back to stock then use qpst to change my settings to get my phone back on 3g either that out go stock and go to store and play dumb have them reflash it,I had same problem tried every fix out there but qpst works fine

I was running Eugene's R13 with stock kernel and JK6 modem and all was working fine for the past couple days. Tonight I turned on my wifi at home to download a program off gameloft and when i turned off WiFi to switch back to data, the data signal never came back. I checked the settings and data was enabled. I tried everything to get it back and nothing works. I restored my nandroid back to Samsung out of the box stock and did a factory reset and no data still. I then installed a bionix rom that worked well in the past, nothing. I installed the new Onyx 4.2 and flashed the new JK6 modem and that didnt work. I reflashed Euegene's R13 and that still no go.
Any ideas??
You sound like you are having the same issue as me, I was runing macnut r12, worked great. I upgraded to r13 and it was runing well until I rebooted the phone, then I had no cell network connectivity. I odined stock JFD and phone worked, I reflashed r12 and no dice, I went back to jfd it worked again. I flasged a cw jk6 and an odin jk6 and several modem fles and no dice. I am currently stuck at jfd. If you go in to about phone does it have unknown baseband? I have that now unless I am runing stock jfd

Use Odin to go back to JFD, you will be able to make calls / data. Unfortunatley I am stuck at JFD at the moment because no mater what I flash other than JFD, I have the unknown baseband issue. I tried Odin JK2 and JK6 also clockwork Macnut 12,13,JK6 roms, JK2 roms. I also tried using Odin to flash JK2,JK6,JFD baseband and no luck
I flashed a couple of different ROMs on my fascinate and got them set up and running beautifully. The problem is when I reboot I get FC like crazy. What am I doing wrong. Sorry if this is a stupid one, I came from OG Droid where everything is much more simple. Thanks..
which roms? 2.2 or 2.1? if 2.2, how did you get it? did you get the official update, or did you flash the odin package, or do it separately?

So I noticed that my 3G wasn't connecting all day on my fascinate. I was running Evil Fascinate 3.3.2 with the nemesis ED01 kernel and the ED01 modem. So I flashed the EC01 modem. No 3G. So I completely wipe everything after a nandroid backup and installed stock DL09. Bam, 3G is back. I allow it to update itself to Froyo OTA. 3G working great. I wipe the phone and install the new Community Rom from scratch. 3G is gone again. I wipe the phone and I flash EF 3.4. 3G still gone.
So I'm back on stock Froyo. I'll do more testing later to see if rooting makes 3G go away again, but at this time I'm suitably freaked out.

Just a suggestion for when I get random bugs that others don't seem to get. I re-download the file i tried to flash, from a different link if i can get it. A lot of times it's a bad download
I think the piece of code in the unknown tethering module is phone home code. I think it's a combination of the phone home not happening, and high 3g usage triggering a disconnect on the other end. I can't prove it yet, but I'm trying to figure out a way to get tcpdumps for wireshark. I know my usage is very high right now.

Mine is low. For me, going to ed01 started the whole mess. Eve going back to dl09, didn't solve anything. The 3#g shows up and random disconnect every five minutes. Remind me of old modem days of bad handshake and reconnect loop. That is basically what it is doing. Once connected, hell of slow tried speed test and the result was horrible.
Looked through all settings values, factory reset, tried several different radio and from. All no such luck.

So i tried some different modems on my i9000. and i decided to go back to JPY (original) before I couldnt flash them in cwm for some error. so i flashed all the modem.bins directly through odin and everything went well, After a day i decided i didnt like the battery life so i went back to the JPY modem. But now the internet is so so so slow it just times out. I have even restored the apn setting and everything, (GSM/HSPDA is on) Data mode activated. It just hardly works. Am I going to have to reflash my custom rom? Simplicity Rom 2.2.1 or 2.1.1 or whatever. ?

So you have the captivate? If so yes you should reflash the rom.

Hey guys, I'm not new to rooting or flashing ROM's but I've encountered some issues. Basically, I was on an early JB Rom and everything was working fine but it mostly was in roaming and would go from 2-4 signal bars.
I backed up and have attempted to flash:
PACman
MIUI 2.11.23
As well as CM10 by joker and AOKP CM 10.
Every flash I end up with no signal bars and no roaming, also following all install instructions in the threads.
I have tried flashing with and without prop tweak, i have even restored the backup all with the same results:
Empty signal bars, occasional R for roaming, every call says mobile network unavailable.
I have also fixed permissions, and have tried to flash via TH3Bill CWM and TWRP recovery... what am I doing wrong? The backup isin't even working!
I wouldn't know off hand, but here's something you can try while waiting for a more professional member to come to the rescue.
System Settings> More>Mobile Networks>System select>Home only
What's your current PRL, APNs?
if it was me I'd sbf back to stock and see if I had signal then go back and try a custom rom again

Before sbf'ing if you have a back up of your stock ROM or any ROM that has the update profile/prl setting in it, restore that back up and try updating your profile/prl then wipe/flash your new ROM.
I usually have this problem when I switch back to my Photon from my ET4G, but updating the profile usually does the trick.
When I restored my old backup, I had the same problem. The only fix I could find was on MIUI and selecting automatic netowrk before flashing options chooser. Any other rom would make no changes on automatic or home only. I am going to try a fresh install and if no luck will sbf today. I'll keep you guys posted.

**EDIT** Does it matter if I use Th3Bill's CWM recovery or TWRP? I have tried both with similar results. I jut noticed CWM is usually posted with the ROM builds... does it makes a difference? If so, what should I use?
Normally both work just fine, as long as you're using one of those two
I spent too much time flashing roms and wondering why they wouldn't work right, when I was using the stock CWM
I think It's just my opinion but I have preference for bill's cwm

No Radio/Signal
I recently flashed the latest MIUI.US V5 3.4.5 for the Photon provided by Th3Bill. I am familiar with the process of applying ROMs. I tried to go back to Beanstalk, JB, and ICS and could not recover the radio signal. I even restored a few backups with the same result, no signal. I flashed the MIUI V5 3.4.5 ROM back to the Photon and it worked flawlessly. Can anyone please help? I would really like to get off the MIUI ROM, it does not appeal to me like the standard versions of Jelly Bean that Th3Bill has produced.
