Hi all,
So, I thought I would install some custom firmware (I forget what it was called, but it's pretty popular for the Galaxy Player 4.0), so I rooted my Galaxy Player and installed the ClockworkMod ROM app. Anyway, I wound up rebooting the Player, and when it restarted the audio wouldn't work at all, and both the Music app and Winamp would freeze up every time I tried to play a song. YouTube videos would play, but with no audio either through speakers or headphones, and none of the system sounds would play either. Figured it was because of the root, so I used the Unroot option in SuperOneClick (the program I used to root the device in the first place). Still didn't work, so I did a factory reset in Settings on the Player, and when it rebooted into Clockwork Recovery, it tried to erase the data, but showed some errors (couldn't access certain folders/files, not sure which ones), but it said that it was finished so I rebooted the Player. When it got past the first Samsung logo, and into the animated galaxy thing, it kept looping at the animation, and reboots did the same thing. Then, I found this http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1512331 and thought I would try restoring the ROM with Odin, which I did, and it showed a Pass, but still, same problem. Then, I got the PIT file from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...php?p=20259805 and again tried to restore the ROM as well as the PIT, but that failed, and after awhile of it not doing anything I unplugged the Player, thinking that I would reboot it and try again. However, now it hangs at a screen I have never seen before, which looks like, as best I can describe it, a phone icon----orange triangle warning sign----computer icon (I attached a photograph of it if that helps any). Kind of at a loss here, so I would greatly appreciate any answers.
Thank you!
Its just softbricked

Oh wow! I have a similar problem to yours except mine was with flashing a galaxy s2 rom on it. I tried to restore it with stock and pit and nothing. It doesn't boot at all. Sadly I don't get that screen though. Mine still has a black screen.

Hello! I am new to these forums....
Background....
I bought a Samsung Galaxy Player 4.2 several months ago and it worked great in the beginning. Then one day it crashed and would not boot. It would show the "SAMSUNG" boot screen, sit that way for 20ish seconds, then the screen would go black and it would repeat the process. At that point the rooted image was out and I wanted to try it out anyway so I flashed the rooted image to it and it worked great and was faster in my opinion. Until several days ago when it crashed again.
The problem....
Several days ago I was using it and it hung. So I held down the power button to force a restart like I had done many times before. But it started going into the boot and then reboot process. I let it sit for a while, and then tried it again and it started! Worked for 2 days, but crashed 2 or 3 times (and was slow as well) in that period when the device was idle. I was not even using it and I would look down at it and it was restarting. Then it crashed this morning and it is boot looping again. I have let it sit without the battery in for over an hour and tried again and it still will not boot.
The question...
Is there any way to fix the device without reflashing the original rom? I have done that before and I can access the download menu (Home+Vol-) and the factory reset and clear cache options (Home+Vol+) so that is not an issue. I have all of my personal data stored on the sd card. But app data is not on the sd card. And I would like to not have to re-install and re-setup all of the apps again. So is there a way to fix it without restoring the device to defaults or is that my only option?
I have searched but cannot find much information specific to the 4.2 player about this issue. Thanks in advance for the help!
EDIT:
Just got some information from a Samsung chat person. They said that a hard reset (Home + Vol+) then factory reset is the only option in their knowledge. And that this problem was not in their database. And if the hard reset doesn't work then to send the device in for service.
You might as well do a factory reset . I suspect any flashing of the player will end up with your having to set up the apps over again, anyway. Unfortunately we don't have a lot of ROM selection, and tools to work with on this player.
Thanks!

Thanks for the help! I tried doing the factory reset and it is still boot looping. So I think I am going to send the device in. Thanks again!
I've been having trouble with my phone freezing a lot recently - tried a bunch of different ROMS, kernels, and modems but to no avail.
It sounded a little like the sudden death problem, only things happened like if i was listening to music when it froze, the music would keep playing, i just couldn't interact with it at all.
Anyway, in a last-ditch effort to get it going reliably, i decided to try out a Non-Samsung based ROM this morning (Resurrection remix).
I wiped everything and flashed RR and on rebooting, it just sat at the RR splash screen for a bout 45 minutes (until i killed it).
After killing it, i restarted the phone and it now just sits as the SGS 3 boot screen (with the white text). never gets anywhere though, and it just continually reboots if i try to get into Recovery mode.
So all i can do is get into download mode.
I've tried re-flashing CWM via ODIB, but it just gives me an error saying that 'There is no PIT partition'.
I've also tried re-flashing the original stock firmware and latest stock firmware through ODIN, and i get the same result each time.
What can I try next?
Also: if it's dead, is there some way i can rest my flash counter and yellow-triangle so i can send it in for service?
Try flashing the correct pit file. Looks like your nand is dead, aka sudden death.
You can't reset the counter, but they should fix it anyway
thanks - i suspected as much
I already tried the PIT and no luck, so i'll send it off to get fixed.
Hey. Been lurking this forum since before i got my NOTE.
ran it stock for a bit noticed issues.
Rooted thru Odin3 V1.85 (DA_G + zaptor99 's methods)
things worked ok cept for streaming video online (not youtube)
in an attempt to freeze my social hub and answering machine notification (its disabled on bell's side but i still have a notification that won't go away)
I assume i button mashed or did something wrong went i went to freeze those apps.
the note acted like it crashed, slowed the hell down and froze.
upon restart, i get past the first samsung screen, into the second that also has the model number in is (in my case SGH-i717M)
this is where the phone get stuck up on now.
Useful info:??
I can get into Download mode. I can get into TeamWin Recovery.
But the phone doesn't seem to get recognized by Odin3 anymore (v1.85 or v3.04 )
So would there be a way to restore thru Teamwin's recovery by using my SD card and loading it with the required files?
or do i have a brick on my hands?
thanks in advance for any help whatsoever!
It sounds as if you have frozen your launcher, and of course this means the device wont boot past the splash screen.
If you have a nandroid backup of the rom prior to the freeze, you can push that image back to the device using recovery. (wipe first)
You can also push the exact same rom image you are currently using, (rom image only) to the device via recovery, and correct the issue as well. (full wipe)
Either way, fully wiping the device before a nandroid restore, or fresh rom install is always a good idea.
You are very far from bricked...
Good luck....g
Hi all,
I've managed to royally mess up my Galaxy S2, and I could really do with a bit of help! It was running a rooted stock rom.
The problem started when I attempted to install the Orange Signal Booster using instructions from this thread. I think the killer was replacing default.prop in system.
At this point the phone would crash a couple of seconds after the unlock screen appeared. I could get as far as dragging down and clicking settings before the entire thing hangs. I got similar results in safe mode. I also tried wiping cache etc in CWM but to no avail. I'm backed up, so I tried a factory reset, but I'm having a similar issue. The language selection screen appears, I press start and the phone freezes again.
I'd really appreciate some help!
BTW, my phone's USB port doesn't work so I'm looking for a solution that can be done within recovery. This is a separate issue and I believe it is unrelated as I have managed fine for over a year.
With a dead usb port you're pretty much screwed. The best and fail proof solution is to reflash stock rom using odin because it will wipe and reflash all partitions that were used before.
hello everyone, my stock s6 edge on rogers is stuck in a boot loop all of a sudden, fully stock and unmodded, running 5.0.2. i was just walking and listening to music through bluetooth headphones and all of a sudden it stopped, and i looked at my phone and it was rebooting. so i just waited and its still stuck in a boot loop after an hour. it gets to the lock screen sometimes, and then after like a second or 2 just reboots again. i have not tinkered or have done anything to my phone either, and had no issues with random reboots ever, so i have no idea what could have happened
some extra info, when it reboots it doesnt always go to the galaxy s6 edge screen, it sometimes just shows the samsung logo with the animation. i have also tried to wipe cache and that didnt work either. after a few reboots however the stock theme was applied at some point. also i tried booting into safe mode and that also didnt work.
i really dont want to wipe my phone, but i will if it is absolutely necessary. so if anyone has any other suggestions that i can try out it will be very much appreciated!
thanks!

I have had said problem before under the same circumstances (although it was with a different phone)
Try using Odin to install the stock Firmware.
A thread explaining how is right here.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s6-edge/general/sm-g925f-s6-firmware-thread-t3078841
If you don't want the firmware listed in that thread, download from Sammobile.
While some users say it does not wipe the phone, it wipes every time I use it
If this does not work, you should get a warranty replacement.
