Latest release: 2012-04-14
Changelog
2012-04-14 (Odin) (CWM)
- bugfix: onscreen-log shouldn't cut off as early now
- colors are now customizable
2012-04-09 (Odin) (CWM)
- bugfix: "dragging" now limited to the visible row area
- bugfix: menu/row line is now blue again
- bugfix: selected item now hides properly when dragging it out of the visible menu/row area
- bugfix: selection should work now properly in all menus
- bugfix: /cache/recovery/log and /cache/recovery/last_log error should now be fixed (not working, see post #100 for a solution)
2012-04-08 (Odin) (CWM)
- rewrote ui a bit, to be more touch friendly
- no more swiping to navigate
- short click on an entry selects it
- double short click on the same entry executes it
- dragging an entry will move the menu (if the menu can be moved, like file selection)
- use back key to go back
- disabled "back mode"
2012-04-05 (CWM)
- based on my cwm 2012-03-05
- added simple navigation using up and down touch motions (nothing big for now)
Known Bugs
- see my cwm thread for known bugs
How to install/update
- read here
Thanks to
everyone i mentioned in my cwm thread
and possibly lots of other people who did important android work, but are sadly forgotten
Good luck, and happy flashing.
Please report bugs with as much detail as possible, and preferably in a separate paragraph
If you like my work, feel free to buy me a drink
Features
Touch
- click on an entry to select it
- double click on an entry do "execute" it
- the back key works as back
- dragging the menu will move it, if possible
- keys still work
Custom Colors
create a file named ".config" in the clockworkmod-folder on your internal sdcard (in android that would be /sdcard/clockworkmod/.config)
the syntax per line is:
Code:
TYPE=R,G,B,A
Valid types are:
Code:
MENU_TEXT_COLOR
NORMAL_TEXT_COLOR
HEADER_TEXT_COLOR
Example:
Code:
MENU_TEXT_COLOR=255,0,0,200
NORMAL_TEXT_COLOR=0,255,0,200
HEADER_TEXT_COLOR=0,0,255,200
That would display your header in blue, your menu in red and the log in green.
If you don't know how to use it, then you probably shouldn't, just saying
will flash in a moment
Nice 1st version. Little easier to swipe through long menus than using volume buttons. Tried it out for a few minutes and works just as described. Thanks.

Its nice to see the swipe. Makes it a little easier not navigate.

Latest release: alpha 1
Changelog
alpha 1 (CWM)
- based on my cwm beta 4 big font
- added simple navigation using up and down touch motions (nothing big for now)
Bugs
- see my cwm thread for known bugs
- ics seems to not create /cache/recovery, so you might get some errors mentioning that on startup
Notes
- simple up and down swipes for now to navigate, use search button (bottom right) to "execute", and back button to go back
- other buttons still work
- if you swipe to much, you will see a message, that the back button was disabled, swipe a bit more in one direction to enable it again (otherwise the screen will simply toggle on/off)
- i will try to rewrite the whole navigation to utilize the touch screen a bit more (will take some time though)
How to install/update
- cwm update zip only...
Thanks to
everyone who donated some money, which made the note a bit more affordable

looks exactly like the other recovery, only that you can also swipe up and down to navigate, instead of using the volume or home/menu buttons...
like i wrote in the notes, i will try to rewrite the ui, to be more touch-friendly

Screenshot for? it's the same thing as his cwm b4 but with touch capability. Tested it and it works!
Fixed the cache bug at the bottom!
Is it pretty much stable compared to the old CWM beta4 and with touch screen swipes?

Just to be clear
Android is new to me, though I consider my self significantly technologically savvy. When the instructions say:
How to install/update
- cwm update zip only...
Does that mean I am to use the install update.zip method? or do I still flash as normal from the SD Card?
Appreciate all your hard work Braway!

yes,
so basically you need to have cwm already installed,
put the zip on your sd, and flash it through cwm
Working great for me. Swipe up or down instead of using volume keys to change selection and power to select. Thanks for your time and work braway.

Thank you for clearing that up, I just wanted to be sure before I changed my CWM.
Awesome work. I was wondering if you plan to make a big font version? It's helpful for guys who have a hard time reading the dinky font.

CleverNameHere Rom Release 1
This rom is discontinued as I have moved on to the Nexus 7. God Bless, everyone!
This ROM is based off of the Evo View 4G's 2nd OTA (security update) and was created with DSIXDA's rom kitchen. Special thanks to pardonmyfreedom for figuring out the view's mount points.
Features
Rooted
Busybox
Deodexed
Zipaligned on boot
Ad Free Hosts file added
Bash shell & nano installed along with sysro/sysrw scripts
Added custom boot animation (found about 4th hand, will give credit when I can find original owner) and switched the shutdown animation to the stock HTC one
Hardware Accelerated UI
Dalvik heap increased
Filesystem Tweaks
SD card speed tweak
Juwe11's ram optimization script
New Market
Removed most of the bloatware (including teeter, which i'd forgotten before), and left blockbuster, qik, polaris office and sprint nav in data/app so that it can be easily removed if you prefer to do so
Disabled HTC update checking
baked in facebook, google+, es file explorer, Titanium Backup & Mybackup Root, Onlive Viewer, Dolphin Browser HD
Skype for chat included, along with enabling bluetooth headsets
Features in optional theming zip (coming soon, need to rebase off of OTA2)
Crysis Battery Mod
running test icon set
Changed off green (HTC Color) into actually green on loading circle and download bar
Green Overscroll
Please help me test this rom for a couple of days while I'm continuing to add features as well as offer suggestions for improvements. I already have a few in mind as well, just need to continue working through them. I'm also looking for anyone who has theming experience since I'm an IT guy and not a graphics designer ;-)

Pre-Installation Instructions
Make sure your HTC Evo View 4G is S-off and has a recovery installed, the best way to do that is to follow this guide by Globatron. You also need to have an SD Card in your view in order to be able to flash things through Clockwork Mod.
Installation Instructions
The betas of this ROM will wipe data, so I recommend backing up important information in MyBackup Root and Titanium Backup. The Full Releases (RLS 1, RLS 2, etc.) and Release Candidates (RC1, Etc.) will not wipe data, but if you're coming from stock or just want to make sure your devices is clean, do a factory reset from within clockworkmod recovery between steps 3 and 4 of the guide below.
Copy the Rom .zip file to the base of your SD Card, not the internal storage of your View
Boot into your tablet's bootloader by holding volume down & power while unit is powered off
select recovery by using the volume arrows and hit power to select
you should now be looking at a black screen with blue text, if not make sure you followed the S-off guide. using the volume keys to navigate and power button to select, select install zip from sd card using power
select choose zip from sdcard
select the clevernamehere .zip file on your sdcard
navigate down to the option that says 'Yes - Install clevernamehere*.zip' where * is the name of the version of the rom (eg. beta1)
Rom will now install and run it's course. The script will be more verbose then it is now by the final version
select the +++++Go Back+++++ option
now select reboot system now and the view will reboot. this will take a while, just like it did when you took it out of the box.
Rom is now installed and working! let me know if you find any bugs or have feature requests.
Removing all user data before installing a new rom (Factory Data Reset)
Boot into your tablet's bootloader by holding volume down & power while unit is powered off
select recovery by using the volume arrows and hit power to select
you should now be looking at a black screen with blue text, if not make sure you followed the S-off guide. using the volume keys to navigate and power button to select, select wipe data/factory reset.
navigate down to the option that says 'Yes -- delete all user data' and select it. This will wipe ALL of your data and the data will be unrecoverable after this unless you have backed it up using Titanium Backup and Mybackup Root.
device will now wipe itself and take you back to the main clockworkmod menu. continue on from step 4 of the above guide to flash the rom if you already have the .zip on your device.
Uninstallation Instructions (going back to stock)
Download the shipped rom RUU from here. This was posted by Football on the Flyer Shipped ROMs list here
with your tablet powered on, plugged into your computer via USB, run the RUU. It will take over after you confirm you want to 'update' and format you back to almost completely stock (I was still s-off but I had lost root of course)
go ahead and update your tablet back to the latest OTA (the first OTA) using software update on your tablet.
now go to this thread by attn1 about getting clockworkmod back as well as root. don't forget the view is named the express and DO NOT download anything from this link that has flyer in the name
you are now ready to flash another rom or reflash mine
im giving this a try ill report back....
Thanks! Let me know what you think. I have a few ideas for speed improvements and I will for sure have a more descriptive flashing script

Removing sense is always a large undertaking. I'll tackle that at a later time, so sense for now. Beta 2 is going to remove as much as possible and put it into a zip for the few users who might actually want it. I'll look into having 4g autostart as an option. Thanks for the name suggestion.

Beta 2 is now uploaded. I have been working on theming and it is quite a bit harder on sense based roms than it is on touchwiz. I'll also upload the removed apks as a zip file tomorrow.
Since there are currently only 2 roms specific to the View I thought I would give yours a try as well as the XPRS rom. I really dig that boot screen. So far everything seems to be smooth without any issues. I am running it with the ADW Ex launcher and all of my primary apps work well including netflix..

Aye c-dude any chance of a change log for those of us wondering? Thanks for the ROM. We need more View chefs and your contribution is DEFINETLY appreciated!!!
Why the hate for stock?
Do you have a completely stock updated rooted ver? What base are you using?
Edit: This was not meant to as disrespect to you. Thanks for all the hard work. The talented devs are the only reason we have this community today.
ContraDude thanks for all the hard work on this rom as its really the only rom we have on the view that is currently being worked on, once they have the kernel source released I know some devs who are willing to make some kernels for our tab. However, one request that I have which you may be able to figure out, as I could not, is how to get the android market to install apps it says arent compatible. I originally thought that changing the fingerprint would fix the issue however I have changed the fingerprint to several different devices and currently have the fingerprint showing the tab as an EVO 3d to the android market. Unfortunately this still doesnt get apps like facebook, go sms, or other apps to show up. I have attached a screenshot that shows my tab showing up as an evo3d. Also I believe that it may have something to do with other lines in the build.prop that show that the device is not a phone, not sure where those are. However I did completely take out an reference of the model number, product, and brand to mirror those from the build.prop of my evo 3d, so I changed more than just the fingerprint and it still doesn't work.

No one is willing to do their own dirty work anymore. What happened to if you don't want it uninstall it now that you have root. Do you have a completely stock rooted updated ver? I cannot find a 2.3.4 stock rooted rom for my wife's view.I saw you removed teeter which my kids love, kept in blockbuster, polaris, and telenav(no good without premium gps fee) which I don't use. I cannot take any Ota's without causing problems so I am still 2.3.3. But every rom maker out there is all about remove this and remove that. I for one have no problem removing stuff I don't use, and on the other hand do use some of the bloat apps everyone is so "remove happy" over. Sorry for the rant but it used to be the user removed what they didn't want. I thought that is what root was for. Thanks for your time.

Thanks for being a sterling example of everything that's wrong with XDA. You complain that people don't do their own work, then complain when you have to do your own work?
If you wanted a rooted stock rom, why are your looking at custom rom's? Run the s-off tool then flash the zip that gives you root. At that point you have a rooted stock rom.

Thanks for being an example of the majority of XDA users, quick to flame and not help. Yes the rant could have been left out but that was my opinion on removing apps. No one can say what the next guy will or will not use, just pointing out somewhere it was agreed that stock apps were bad. I learned with the 3d that some bloat apps are system and will not install correctly with the normal installation of apk's(reader being one of them). I can put these back into system myself as I have done it many times already. No disrespect was aimed at anybody but it seems you are ready to fire back at a moments notice.

Custom roms can still be custom without removing stuff. It's the added tweaks that make them custom. And I am currently Stock rooted.

Pre-Installation Instructions
Make sure your HTC Evo View 4G is S-off and has a recovery installed, the best way to do that is to follow this guide by Globatron for S-off Gingerbread. After you have completed that process follow this guide to bring yourself to Honeycomb. You must upgrade to Honeycomb in this way to be able to use my Rom. Just found out the free xda app works properly on honeycomb. Going to bake it in next release.
Contradude,
Any extra features you implemented or plan to implement?
I tell you right now, the most digusting (for me ) in HC is "no more hardware buttons".
New software-only buttons take away precious screen space on 7" and make watching full screen video impossible.
Dell Streak has a patch to turn hardware buttons on and off. Maybe we can get it on the View as well.
My dream feature would be USB host.
Thanks.
I am staying away from HC for now.
Actually MX Video goes full screen and the software buttons are hidden... Great program!
So if I have read everything correctly if we do this we can't get back to GB at the moment. Is that correct.

That's good to know.
However, Sling, Vulkano and Daroon (the only player for the DVDs) can not do it.
DLing now, will test and post quadrant score, and test all radios (4G too), and everything else.
@contra I posted which bloatware apps I removed with no issue here
Also, looking forward to being able to auto-hide the notification bar and re-enable the HW buttons.
There is an app called Honeybar that hides the notification bar but it's a paid app $1, also there is one called Hidebar I tried, but in order to get the notification bar back up you're supposed to touch the screen in certain parts and no matter where I touched it didn't bring the bar back up so I don't think it's compatible with our tablet just yet. Oh and that last one is free btw. I'll try to find it, post a link, and contact the developer to add support for the View/Flyer.
Thats what I thought. I will wait. Love the name by the way "maine coon". I have a black maine coon cat asleep in my lap as I type this. Thanks for the quick reply.
Will be peeping out, I just got back home from a trip nicely down..
I will follow up with Lee regarding the HC hardkeys mod that we got connected with TheManii..
Note: Please upgrade to CM10.1 for some fixes. This is currently unmaintained.
Broken:
Bluetooth (some progress has been made, but it still does not turn on)
Camera preview, some JPEG corruption
Earpiece (sound comes out the speaker by the camera on the back instead)
Only earphones with 4-part plugs work (like those with a mic) the first time (see last "What if?" question)
Installation:
Reboot to CWM
Make a Nandroid (optional, but recommended)
Format /system if you had a different GApps package installed
Install ROM
Install GAPPS if you just formatted /system
Wipe data/factory reset if you are coming from Gingerbread
Reboot
??? (wait a while...)
Profit
What If....
I get a message saying "assert failed. Installation aborted"? Go to "Mounts and Storage" -> "Format /system" and try again.
my capacitive buttons don't work (US)? Reboot.
my capacitive buttons don't work (INTL)? Flash the international kernel.
the navigation bar is really annoying? See tweaks in second post.
the torch doesn't work? It's because camera is kinda broken. Workaround: take a picture with flash set to "on", and stay in the camera app.
I wiped data before flashing? It won't make a difference.
I can't update Google Now? Use the newer Google Apps package.
I want to switch my storage? See second post.
the ROM is too slow? Try enabling the overclock, or switch to ondemand governor, or use Mercurius kerne.
I can't get any headphones to work? Install SoundAbout and set it to wired with mic.

So the latest version was broken. My advice is just wait for CM10.1. To fix app installation issues on 2/18, stick the apps in /data or /system with a root browser first, or use the next oldest or Mercurius kernel.

Mods/Hacks
There are 4 things you can edit in build.prop. If you want, you can edit the file before flashing. Here is what the defaults look like:
Code:
#########################################
## You can tweak the next 4 properties ##
#########################################
# Uncomment to switch internal and external storage
[B]# That means remove the "#" at the beginning of the next line[/B]
# ro.vold.switchablepair=/storage/sdcard0,/storage/sdcard1
# Change to 0 to enable softkeys, 1 to disable
qemu.hw.mainkeys=0
# Defaults to Mass Storage. You can change to mtp
persist.sys.usb.config=mass_storage
# LCD density (240 is default)
ro.sf.lcd_density=240
Thank You for your hard work and dedication and not giving up! You are amazing! <3

Expanded desktop. Enable it in Settings -> System -> Power Menu. However, it also hides the status bar. I may remove the nav bar once I get confirmation the International version's home button works correctly.

This is really running smoothly, the "torch" app does not work however so I am willing to remove it for now. (I know its related to your camera LIB issues) Sound recorder works great. let me test a couple of things to make sure. Also, I'm glad the "G-Talk" works since that's how I stay in contact with co-workers. This is a work of wonders, recommending this to be announced on XDA portal. Thank you for all your hard work.
Edit : Works great! Wonderful! Expanded desktop works fine.
Should I Wipe Data/Factory Reset after flashing the ROM and Gapps or before? Would it still work the way you posted it?

It doesn't really matter, as long as you do it. You could even go to Mounts and Storage -> format /data. The objective is to get rid of any old ICS/GB settings and databases that would conflict with JB.
Woot! its about time, although a bit late for Christmas i feel like a kid opening a present..thanks to all who are involved with the development of our player!
One way to transfer to your device is to use dropbox. And use " folder downloader for dropbox" to download onto your device downloads, files, photos, etc.
Ok, just tried it it was amazing other than a few relatively minor bugs other than the ones stated. First, bootloop while plugged iñ amd powered down, next google now wont update with the gapps package, says not signed correctly, and i also noticed that the capacitive home button doesnt work on first boot, but works fine after. Otherwise, amazing work and progress! Keep it up man!
Edit: sorry if i should have posted in the dev thread, this was the one i thought would be appropriate

The charging bootloop only occurs when plugged in to your PC. It's a bootloader issue - nothing fixable. I'm looking for a newer GApps package, but most are way too big. The issue is our system partition is so small. I've already taken out the stock live wallpapers. About the button, that's really interesting.
@all I'm really glad you like it. User feedback is what above all makes a developer's day!

Just go to Mounts and Storage -> Format /system before attempting to flash. Then it can't check build.prop.

Do you ever see the battery icon? Or just the circle thingy.
YOU WILL NEED:
The B2G nandroid
Siyah JB
The b2g_i777_keyfix.zip file attached below (created/modded by myself)
1. Hook up your i777 to your PC and put it into USB storage mode (if it doesn't do that automatically)
2. un-7zip the B2G nandroid and place the b2g-0602 folder in the /clockworkmod/backup/ folder on your external SD (create the backup folder if necessary)
3. Place the two zips at the root of your SD card for easiness later on
4. Boot to CWM and install the Siyah Kernel JB zip
5. Reboot recovery
6. Follow the steps in the thread with the B2G nandroid download, although they may not work for you.
6(a). If those steps do not work, attempt to clone your current ROM to the second ROM under dual booting options OR create a nandroid backup of your current ROM (so you can easily go back to it)
6(b). After that, restore nandroid b2g-0602 from backup (this will wipe the first ROM so be careful)
7. Reboot recovery
8. flash b2g_i777_keyfix.zip to make the volume rocker work as the home key (as the capacitive keys do not work as is)
Q&A
HOW WILL I CHANGE MY VOLUME LEVELS?
You can change your volume levels from settings
IS THIS NICE AND PERFECT?
Nope, not at all. If anything this is a step down from Android currently. The DPI is screwed up, navigation is odd because of inability to use capacitive keys, lack of Google sync, and this overall isn't a daily driver.
SO WHY WOULD I WANT TO USE THIS?
I don't know? Why don't you tell me?
WHAT DOESN'T WORK?
Everything that is listed as not working in the i9100 thread, calls probably don't work, camera doesn't work, and probably many other things
WHAT DOES WORK?
SMS for sure works, WIFI works, data might work
SPECIAL THANKS TO EVERYONE WHO HAS WORKED ON PORTING THIS OPERATING SYSTEM TO THE I9100!
Why not reserve a post for stuff and things.
Screenshots can be found here!
Please read this! I would not recommend flashing anything not meant for our device in heimdall or Odin. Please stick to the nandroid, where you can easily go back to recovery.

Sadly I do not know how to take screenshots in Firefox OS! I can, however, link to a thread with screenshots of Firefox OS at a similar DPI and whatnot... thanks for the suggestion!
Yeah, it's pretty interesting to say the least. Not good enough to be a daily driver (or even close), but it still works okay (no random reboots, etc.)
where is the download for this os? like the os download itself? is it on the website?

Well on the website there are build instructions for this, but really no downloads (unless you count what I believe is a desktop VM image).
Basically Mozilla uses Github and lets you pull things from their Github (via terminal) to build for your desired device.

WHAT IS SAFESTRAP?
Safestrap is a Bootstrap / Recovery for locked bootloader phones. The goal is to avoid touching your primary system (I'll call this "stock" system) and only flash or make large changes to another place on your phone that Safestrap treats as a "2nd system" (in this case, it's a series of virtual ROM slots located on the internal emmc area: "/sdcard"). Once installed, you will see a "Splashscreen" giving you the option to hit "menu" to enter recovery. The recovery portion of Safestrap is now based on TWRP 3.3.0 (a touch based recovery) and you can perform .zip installs, backups and restores here. The additional features I've added to TWRP are mostly located under the "Boot Options" menu:
Here you can create virtual ROM-slots for flashing ROMs. NOTE: The bigger you make the /data partition the less room you will have to make other ROM-slots.
You can activate a new ROM-slot by choosing the slot you wish to make active and then selecting the "Activate" button. Once active, you will see the "rom-slot#" up in the top of the screen shown in green. If you make the "stock" ROM active, then you can see it in the top shown in red.
Once a ROM-slot is active, all actions you would normally perform using TWRP are directed to that ROM-slot. For example, "Install" to flash a .zip, backup and restore.
HOW DO I INSTALL SAFESTRAP?
Requirement: Root
APK install:
Once installed, open up the Safestrap application, Agree to the disclaimer that you won't try to sue me and hunt me down with a rifle if you manage to break your phone..
Then use the "Install Recovery" button. You should see the current version down in the lower left corner of the window. And the "Status:" should say "Installed" when you're done.
From there you can reboot and you *should* see a new splash screen during the boot up. While this is showing you can enter Safestrap Recovery using the [ menu ] button.
Flashable zip:
Flash using Safestrap recovery or FlashFire.
HOW DO I ENTER RECOVERY?
During each reboot a splashscreen will be displayed showing whether the device is running a rom-slot or on the "Stock ROM".
Press the button shown on the screen to either enter "RECOVERY" or "CONTINUE" booting (or the hard button underneath each option).
HOW DO I UPGRADE SAFESTRAP?
APK:
Push the APK up to your sdcard.
Boot back into the "stock" rom-slot.
Open your old Safestrap app and use the "Uninstall Recovery" button
Browse to where you pushed the APK
Click on it and install like normal
Once installed, open the APK, Grant SU access, Use the "Install Recovery" button.
Flashable zip:
Flash using Safestrap recovery or FlashFire.
KNOWN ISSUES:
- Sometimes the installation doesn't work correctly. If you don't see the splashscreen after a rebooting. Install Safestrap again.
- Busybox is now required for the Safestrap APK to work correctly

WARNING: Safestrap is heavily modified to be "Safe" for your device. Do not download TWRP from their website and expect it to work the same way. Also TWRP does not support Safestrap, tho some issues that may come up will be TWRP dependant, please try and contact myself or look on the forums for your device for answers before hunting down TWRP people. They won't be able to help w/ Safestrap specific questions.
Special Thanks To

I hope we can get the rom part of safestrap fixed! Great work
Wahhhh just when i oreo is released for the unlocked note 8. Haha guess i wont be taking oreo update anytime soon and may actually want to root dispite the 80% battery.
I really hope there are still developers that will cook roms or ports of internation version like dr ketans.
Thanks. Cant wait for ur rom portion of safestrap.
I can confirm this is legit guys. backups and restores work. For the moment full custom roms like lineage will not be possible. but ill be working on that
I'd love to see me some Darthstalker ROM's those were my favorite on the Note 5. I don't know if Jovy still makes ROM's though.
