skyrocket scoring higher then note on quadrant - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note I717

I miss my note I am using my skyrocket untill I get another I recently upgraded to ics and have been getting at least a 3800 where as my brother who had a note is running ics gets no higher then 3200 just wondering is the skyrocket getting a higher score

It's all about real life use. I was on the t989 before and no complaints since the switch.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda premium

The note has almost twice the resolution as the skyrocket with the same chipset. So the note takes more processing power to push such a big screen its like 800x480 compared to 1280x800 on the note...

QUADRANT IS CRAP!
You can run it a million times and get a different number every time.
plus it's easily effed with, i can build you a ROM that will score OVER 9000!!! In quadrant, it'll also run outside of quadrant like absolute and complete garbage.
Stop number obsessing and get a feel for REAL WORLD PERFORMANCE cause that is all that matters.

That is strange. my quadrant score seems better on ICS:

You may want to do some trouble shooting. That's a bit on the low side.

my skyrocket got 1800-3100 stock, oc at 2400-3800, it was always all over the place.
my gnote 3300-3400 consisntanly. ill take that any day

by no means am i saying the skyrocket is a better phone then the note i just thought it was odd to see the skyrocket outscore the note by 500 points with them both being stock and on ics

Yeah same here...cf bench quadrant linpack and antutu are consistently higher on my note than what they are on my skyrocket
Thur u arrrrrrgh

Whats the point of talking about quadrant scores. Thats useful only to aaron the fag from phonedog.net lmao

Same chipset. Snapdragon s3 in both device. One has to power a 1280x800 resolution and the other 800x400. Its obvious its gonna have a higher quadrant score. But like everyone else says...quadrants are just numbers and not noticeable in real life usage. The snapdragons are not known for good quadrant scores. Yet the devices run great. Quadrants are similar to specs on a phone...not higher the better.

Exactly! very well said.

Quadrant isn't a great app to gauge performance. But, out of curiosity, I ran it and got a score of 3658. I'm perfectly happy with this score, because I don't really do anything intensive with my Note. Try not to let a quadrant score dictate the power of your Note. It's plenty powerful, and should easily handle anything you throw at it.

I was going to start a thread on this too. Out of curiosity I had my did install and run quadrant on his stock sII to compare to my note running saurom, debloated, etc. His score was about 50 higher then mine. But then I realized I didn't care.

What will it take for people with Samsung phones to stop checking their performance with quadrant tests? They were never designed for Samsung phones. If ur phone is not performing good u will know it. If u need a quadrant test to prove to urself these phones are good u need a phone named after a fruit.

Yes mainly because of this, and I've been using one for about two days now, I love the phone and the screen.

After being able to use it for two days, I mean my girlfriend has it so I have unlimited use of it, I would say I want to wait and see how ICS looks on our phones first before I "jump ship". Honestly I still feel like my display is better and the Galaxy Nexus is a big phone in my hand. So yes in other words it's only because of that deal.
Side note, the camera on the Galaxy Nexus isn't great at all compared to our phones. We took pictures of the same thing last night, my camera obviously had crazy better detail to the picture, she was sad. But the zero shutter lag is epic. So with ICS on our phones, I don't know if there will be a phone out that I will like better imo.

This echos how I feel exactly, already with the ROMs and kernels I have on my SGS2 i wouldnt trade it when either CM9 or ICS arrives I as well think nothing until the SGS3 will touch it
I don't understand how you got scores that high? What is MUIU? I had 4.0.3 Code's rom and Franco's kernel and only scored in the 4000's, which upset me. I recently wiped and put on Trinity's kernel with AOKP and got 6250. Anything I can tweak? I'm not seeing scores in the 7000 range.

I would just like to add my 2 cents. I have compared my gs2 side by side with a verizon gnex and can safely say I would rather have my phone. The colors and overall picture quality of the screen is better on the gs2 and the gs2 is faster. I also did a boot test to see which phone booted up quicker and ours won by a long shot and we have the unfair advantage of running gingerbread. Just wait till we get ics. That is one advantage it has over our phones. the other being how fast it is able to snap pictures. that thing can fire off some pictures.

Miui + siyah kernel + 1400 = 7000+ for me
Illusion rom can net you 7000+ as well (what I'm running now, also why it shows 9100)

Yeah theres not much of a comparison when you know what you're doing. This is a first bench off of my new rom. I took an I9100 ICS rom and made it work for my I777 device with some file swaps/tweaks from an I777 rom. Took a few different "versions" to get it right but....yes EVERYTHING works with no bugs. It actually works better than the older ICS rom that was designed for the I777. I expect to hit mid 8000's with a few more tweaks, maybe much higher.
What do you mean everything works? Are you saying phone works? As in calls.

SGS3 officially revealed. Your thoughts?

I think the new processor will be amazing but I can't say that I'm liking the rounded edges. This thing is borderline pebble-shaped.
It will be interesting to see where they take the design to with the Note 2, to say the least

I dont like the rounded edges either. The only thing i like about the phone is the new processor. And they finally add the light notification, which is good. Besides those two things, Im not impressed. Everything else is just software update, which the note will receive sooner or later. I will stick with the note for a while.
My curiosity is how long it'll take for the Dev's to pull the good parts out of the GSIII's ROM and port them to the Note...
I like the bigger screen, but wouldn't trade my note for it.
Dislike the round edges
Like the bigger battery
Like the gorilla glass 2
Dislike that the ram didn't change
Dislike that the screen didn't change much other then the size
Like the new smart stay
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using XDA
Yeah, Im definitely curious about how SMART it's going to be, but like many have said before - the SGS3 is mostly software, which will eventually come to the note at some point. And if S-pen functionality can be kept too, then the Note with SGS3 SW will be all we'll need tilll the note 2 comes out.
I had been eagerly anticipating a device that would be worth switching to from the note because (lets be honest) who doesn't love a new phone? But I can honestly say that this one wont do it for me. I guess if there was a way to have quad core and lte living together then I might consider it but I just love the note so much. I know it sounds crazy but I just don't see them coming out with anything (other than maybe the note 2) that would be worth switching to from my current note. This is sad because I love getting new phones so I guess it bittersweet for me.

i think the US version of the S3 won't have a exynos processor......don't think its compatible with LTE modems........they may end up using the snapdragon 4core processor instead due the LTE compatibility
I agree, this phone isn't a game changer by any stretch of the imagination. It's basically the HTC one with a removable battery and MicroSD port. It is pretty, but so is my note. The quad core isn't that impressive anymore because of this:
http://www.engadget.com/2012/05/03/tsmc-ramps-28nm-arm-cortex-a9-chip-to-3-1ghz/
imagine a phone that can process that freaking fast! We'll see where the processor wars go. The note keeps me happy, I can wait.
Also if you want a little more in depth look, here's android centrals' post on the S3. Though I like AC in general, I think they were really humping samsung's leg when they wrote it.

$50 bucks says the att version is a near dead-ringer for international version. I'll bet it has the home button, quad exynos, everything. Samsung has enough muscle to dictate more of its hardware to us carriers. I'll bet there is little variation in note 2 specs worldwide.
Not to mention those leaked Verizon photos of the note 2,which I believe to be legit.
US note 2 will have a home button just like the gs3.

Running this exynos processor in my note 10.1 3g variant and the battery life is phenominal. On h+ all day and I'm getting 10h screen on with around 25h unplugged before hitting 18ish %.
5.5 inch note 2 is half the screen size of the note 10.1. 3300MaH in note 2 battery is just under half the size of the 7000maH in the note 10.1. Given the scaling, I wouldn't be surprised to see comparable battery life.
The processor, though running 200mhz faster, won't make much difference because it isn't running full throttle all the time. The only question is what toll will LTE take on the battery life in LTE areas. Samsung obviously came up with some new LTE tricks to get it to work with the quad exynos in the first place - I wouldn't doubt if improved efficiency is a part of those new tricks.
Samsung made a statement awhile back that better battery life was a focus in 2012 - so far they've lived up to it and I believe the note 2 battery life will be quite good. This processor is extremely efficient, as is the other hardware.
The note 2 is gonna be a well-rounded performer from what I've seen.
I've read several places that the note 2 variants with LTE are getting a 3300MaH battery instead of 3100. We'll see when it's released. Based on the scaling mentioned above, 3300 makes more sense.

The issue is we're on an cortex A9 where-as the DNA is on an A15. It's just better tech.
But to be honest the performance right now is beyond what we need.
When Android officially has a class in the NHRA then ill worry about all out performance.

It's actually not an A15, its Krait cpu is kind of in-between A9 and A15. The Exynos 5 quad will be faster, besides possibly the graphics. I'm sure Qualcomm will have something else coming out next year though.
On a side note I tested out Banjo-Kazooie and it does have stutters (nothing affecting gameplay). So I guess I would have actually made use of the S4pro...

The dna maybe faster BUT I'm good with my note 2 that memory and battery is a definite no go.

I messed with a DNA it is a cool phone. The screen is really nice. For me it was the battery and non expandable storage that sold me on the note 2 as well. They are both fast as mentioned. Love the note 2.

I agree they both have positives and negatives. I just activated note and going to sit DNA aside for now. See what the real world uses of the note are since I've used DNA for a week.
And fyi DNA has overclocked kernel and runs 9500+ lol insane and some of the features it comes with are pretty sweet two. I know it's going to be one hard decision between the two to use daily. Heck I might just switch everyday they are both that nice lol

If they come out with a 32gb later in year I'll definitely switch to the DNA.

As a DNA owner, I just want to say to you
1) They're both fast phones. And
2) quit trolling the Note 2 forums. They are different types of phones and You only look stupid when you make comparisons like that. Let these guys have their fun.

AnTuTu is a better benchmark anyways.

memory was the reason I didn't go with the DNA as well. I'm starting to wonder though if you can open the phone and swap an SD card

There isn't one in the DNA. You'd have to buy the separate board that attaches to the main and the back of the Butterfly to theoretically add the sdcard.
I personally chose the Note 2 over screen size. You either want a phone this size or you don't.

Note 2 benchmarks

Im thinking about taking my dna back for the note 2. Went by the verizon store and was running some bench marks to get a feel for it. It was scoring 14000 in anutu, and the 3d test was running 35fps tops, could it just be that phone? My old s3 scores 11400.... It just seemed extremely weird that the mali 400 was scoring that damn low. Now i didnt look much into what the software version was but can anyone comment on 3d performance? Wildblood etc?

Dude, don't worry about synthetic benchmarks. The Note 2 simply feels faster than the DNA.
I had the DNA for a week and exchanged it for a Note 2 and haven't looked back since. I just couldn't stand the heavy scrolling and slow animations when scrolling home screens on the DNA.
Do it, you won't be disappointed.

Ended up getting one and the damn rep did the OTA locking down the bootloader. But even on stock its much smoother and battery life cant even compare.

Why don't you go and exchange it for another one and don't let them update your phone

Since i swapped the dna for the note within 14 days they said i cant exchange it again. So hoping they get this bootloader unlocked soon

Aww that sux, but good job on getting the phone! It's just simply a better phone imo. The only thing the DNA had going for it was the screen and that's basically it.

I messed with an HTC Rezound for some time but I couldn't stand it. Htc devices look nice but honestly I don't like the feel of them or the functionality of them. I hate HTC sense with a passion. It's so bloated and laggy yet so basic.

Touchwiz is more bloated than Sense. By about 1gb, in fact.

Not sure why you're using size as the determiner but I find tw to be much more functional than sense.

I liked the dna, it was a decent phone but for how i use my phone it just wasnt working out and the note 2 was the only other quad core option. Im happy with it so far. I just wish that stupid arse rep hadnt done the ota, love me some cm10.1

I have both phones right now and the DNA is most likely getting sold! I did buy the Note 2 first though but I wanted to see what all the fuss was about with the DNA and while it is a very nice phone it is just not as smooth as the Note 2 is... I have the DNA on a stock kernel because the only kernel that is available that overclocks the DNA is waaay unstable but they did just drop a VERY nice rom for it over there (ViperDNA) which is one of the most customizable roms I have ever used on a phone. The DNA really has nothing on the Note 2! Yes, the screen is beautiful!! But I think that is why it lags like it does...? (pushing all those pixels) As far as Touchwiz over Sense... I like them both but Samsung has just got them beat right now (everyone for that matter)! If Samsung made phones that were not ALL plastic that would be my wet dream. If you don't want a Note 2 cause it's too large then get a DNA but if you can handle the BEAST then you have one of the best phones, if not the best, that you can get!
And having owned both phones the whole benchmark thing means NOTHING! It's real world use and that's where the Note 2 will win every time!
As far as the difference between any version of sense or touchwiz, I'll take tw any day. Love me some tw. I just wish theyd make a tw rom thats compatible with theme chooser.
