problem solved
How? I'm using CM7 alpha and I can't add my Google account. Do I really need to install gapps first? By the way, I installed Google Play manually.

Er. Did you fix all the permissions? What's it doing anyway? is it just not opening?
It won't open. When I click the icon, my screen goes black then back to my homescreen. When adding in Accounts settings, I'm only allowed to enter Exchange account. Kindly point me how to install Google Play properly for my Nook Tablet.
Install gapps.

You need to download it and flash. Google does not allow play to be added to the roms anymore. It is important to read the threads carefully when installing things. I think that is what gets most people in trouble. Flash first and ask questions later.

Just installed the APK but it crashes whenever I try to open it. It might have something to do with the fact that it´s not linked to any account.
How about my google account? On other android devices it never asked me for servers, domains and such.
Go back into CWM and flash the gapps for GB from here

Thanks for the tips. I just installed CW7 on my Nook tablet and was having trouble with GAPPS. This worked great!
Hi All -
I would like to install just Google Play (Market) without the other GApps. I tried a couple of APKs that I found floating around the forums, but none seem to work.
Are there some additional dependencies (like the Google account, for example) which I need to install in order to use Play? I am trying to avoid any Google synch and also don't need GMail, Talk, etc. Installing them just to remove them with Titanium or something seems counter-intuative.
Any help, ideas, or links are greatfully received.
Kind regards,
travis
Just to reply to myself...
I am running either CM 9.1 or 10 M2 on a Nexus S. GApps are not installed.
Feel free to edit the gapps.zip file to remove whatever apks you don't want, before you flash it. Even if you flash it as is, you can always remove the Google apps you don't want.

Thanks for the quick answer!
Are there any dependancies to be aware of (other GApps, something for the Google account so it can be called by Play, etc)? I assume I need to turn off signature verification as well, since the new zip won't be signed, right?

Hi. Noob on Forum.
I decided to Install CyanogenMod on my Xoom MZ601 model.
Bootloader unlocked, cwm installed, Cyanogenmod also installed without problem.
I use the last NIGHTLY-BUILD ---> cm-10.1-20130410-NIGHTLY-everest.
Now the problem. I tried to install gapps.
I downloaded the latest gapps for jelly bean 4.2.2 ----> gapps-jb-20130301-signed.zip from goo.im/gapps/ (cannot write the complete url on the first post)
Install zip from sdcard etc using cwm. And everything seems to be perfect.
Except one. None google app is not installed. Or at least not shown nowhere on my apps.
Any idea what's wrong? How to fix that? I like jelly bean but I need gtalk, youtube, play store, google maps etc.
First u need add your Google account in phone setting> account.
Then just install YouTube, Gmail, maps etc. Those Google apps that can be downloaded from market aren't included in gapps flashable package.
I add my gmail account and I made again the gapp proccess. Still the same result. I have no problem to download all the apps from market. But I have not play store on my apps.

You have to flash the gapps at the same time as the rom as the gapps package has more then just app apks in it and it needs to be able to write to the proper areas.
How to do that? The first thing after installing ROM was to install gapps. I think that we are on a good way to find the solution :good:

When you flash the rom dont reboot, flash the gapps right after and then reboot. You will have to reflash the rom with a full wipe.
I made a wipe of disk and cache. I install rom and gapp. After, I rebooted, I add gmail account, I rebooted again and now I have News and Weather app on my apps but not play store.

I mean post the link you used to get the gapps zip file. if the browser FC then the zip maybe corrupted due to it being updated with the new play store
Try installing the new playstore yourself.

It's pretty straightforward, there are several apps that do this. You can search in Baidu.com for Gapps and the apk will show up. Install it, press the big button and there you go. You can also find several tutorials in Youtube, if you don't know how the app looks like.
Alternatively, here's another tutorial with a different app: http://en.miui.com/thread-17910-1-1.html
somehow i'm able to install Gapps using the installer, i don't know what i did to fix it, anyway its all good now, btw the link you gave is for device that is not bootloader locked
The minimum set of Gapps are very easy to install with the help of this tiny online installer. It's in Chinese, but it's intuitive.

This is the tools that i was using when trying to install Gapps, and after countless of failed effort, somehow it works on its own, i don't know what happened
For me NewGoogleInstaller works flawlessly on all firmwares, including the latest 7.2.4.
yeah, but now i'd like to know how can i set google playstore as a default app store instead of Mi app store
Everything is installed following the process but I can't download any apps from the app store..

You must update Google services
And Google Play at the same time.

I did. Well, not exactly the 'same time' but I have updated them..Now, play store is just stuck at a loading circle screen.

Reboot your phone.
"At the same time" means can be done, but not necessarily.

Same here first time, but removed Google*, installed them again and it started working. I rebooted after Google login, Xunlei engine was disabled and download limit set to Unlimited.
it seem that after you login to playstore, you need to wait for a while for it to sync in order for you to be able to download apps, otherwise you'll get unable to contact server error message

Gotcha. Rebooting didn't change anything at first but I just kept rebooting (..a lot) and it seems to work now.

the google installer worked to install the apps but they couldn't establish a connection to the servers. I had to restore my playstore and google apps from a titanium backup file I had and then it would work. So anyone not able to get on google apps try installing old titanium backups, it may work.
One thing to note with all of these is sometimes it just needs time.
After all, the play services and framework often have to register with Google and also update themselves (you're not guaranteed to get the most up to date version for each even with the installer).
I installed mine and they registered fine. But as soon as I tried to download an app from the play store I got weird errors.
Left it a day and boom, worked fine.
