Hey everyone, I closed the Gmail account that my phone was using for the Android Market and now every time I start up my phone I get invalid email messages and can't use the Android Market.
I have looked and looked but cannot figure out how to remove the email adress and add the new one. When I try to remove it it says I cannot because some apps are using it.
I'm on the OpenOptimus Rom at the moment.
Any help is appreciated, I really want to download text to speech by Sonalight!

You could try wiping "Accounts and Sync Settings" and uninstalling all google apps (If you are rooted). Then simply downloads GAPPS and flash. Otherwise => install Titanium Backup, backup all your apps, wipe data and restore everything (Except google apps and "Accounts and Sync Settings") using Titanium Backup.
Edit: I decided to update the rom and everything cleared. Thanks anyways everyone!
problem solved
How? I'm using CM7 alpha and I can't add my Google account. Do I really need to install gapps first? By the way, I installed Google Play manually.

Er. Did you fix all the permissions? What's it doing anyway? is it just not opening?
It won't open. When I click the icon, my screen goes black then back to my homescreen. When adding in Accounts settings, I'm only allowed to enter Exchange account. Kindly point me how to install Google Play properly for my Nook Tablet.
Install gapps.

I think its better to start from scratch as you are getting some problems.
Start from flashing stock rom via flashtool and then flash any custom rom
Hey Gooperz06
-Did you try to download applications from your pc, to check if without doing manually from mobile, tha applications, gets downloaded?
-Try to set another gmail account to check if works
-When i installed a new ICS rom sometimes (only each time that i open google play) gets me a timed out connection, but then i press try again or refresh and worked
-Try to install gapps again from xrecovery

Yeah... I just flashed to my stock rom and google talk authentication failed...what do i do now?
I'm sorry to say this but maybe your gmail account is buggered or you have done something wrong somewhere
TELL US EXACT STEPS YOU TOOK TO INSTALL SOFTWARE ON DEVICE!!
Flashtool versions? Rom version, official Rom or unofficial
Rooting / trying without root
Stock with seus
Remove sdcard
Boot up without rooting
Sign into google services
Download alogcat from market
Sign into talk
If it fails, post alogcat log here
Maybe we can determine what's broken
Can you access playstore on your pc?
Also
Don't use WiFi hotspot for market as most of them block certain services
Make sure you have android internet Bolt-on and not blackberry
Try to hard reset your modem / router to factory settings (maybe DNS issue)

My phone was just stolen and so I am temporarily using an older Gingerbread device I had laying around. The problem is that my wife used it for a period of time and so its "locked" to her Google account. I realize that with root its fairly easy to disassociate the device from the primary Google account, but I have been unable to find out how to do it WITHOUT root. Can anyone help?? I really don't want to fully wipe the device if possible! The phone in question is running 2.3.4.

You can't do that if it is your only account.

Of course you can...
If not, it's easily solved: add a new account, and delete the another

That is incorrect. You are unable to delete the primary account associated with your phone, that is why I posted this thread. Does anyone know of another way??

Even if you have two (or more) accounts it will not allow you to delete the "primary" one without doing a factory reset.....
Hmmm this might help you. =)

So the link provided does give instructions, however the problem is as follows:
"Remove an account
You can remove an account to delete it and all information associated with it from your phone, including email, contacts, settings, and so on.
You can’t remove the first Google Account you signed into on the phone, except by deleting all personal information from your phone. See Privacy settings to learn now to do that."
I am still stuck here, does anyone know how to sort this out?
Not sure if this still works...I did this when I had my G1...go to Settings>applications click on all scroll down to Gmail and delete data.
Unfortunately that didnt help...
What else do you see in the application list? Is there a google accounts? Or maybe Google apps? Anything that starta with Google? Try delete that data

So the list of services that include "Google" in the title include the following:
1) Gmail
2) Google Backup Transport
3) Google Calendar Sync
4) Google Contacts Sync
5) Google Partner Setup
6) Google Play Movies and TV
7) Google Play Store
8) Google Search
9) Google Services Framework
10) Google Sky Map
11) Google Translate
12) Google Voice
yeah, you cannot delete the account ... You have only option to factory reset and again create a new one.
I did the same way... If any one knows let me know.
Perhaps there is another way : I've don't tested it. You´re Phone must be rooted. You can delete the file " accounts.db. Find it in data > system >accounts.db. and Reboot the Phone.
But you will do it on your own Risk. Imho a Factory-Reset is the better way. :good:

Do you have more details about this method?
What is it that you're worried about losing by doing a reset?
Hi. Noob on Forum.
I decided to Install CyanogenMod on my Xoom MZ601 model.
Bootloader unlocked, cwm installed, Cyanogenmod also installed without problem.
I use the last NIGHTLY-BUILD ---> cm-10.1-20130410-NIGHTLY-everest.
Now the problem. I tried to install gapps.
I downloaded the latest gapps for jelly bean 4.2.2 ----> gapps-jb-20130301-signed.zip from goo.im/gapps/ (cannot write the complete url on the first post)
Install zip from sdcard etc using cwm. And everything seems to be perfect.
Except one. None google app is not installed. Or at least not shown nowhere on my apps.
Any idea what's wrong? How to fix that? I like jelly bean but I need gtalk, youtube, play store, google maps etc.
First u need add your Google account in phone setting> account.
Then just install YouTube, Gmail, maps etc. Those Google apps that can be downloaded from market aren't included in gapps flashable package.
I add my gmail account and I made again the gapp proccess. Still the same result. I have no problem to download all the apps from market. But I have not play store on my apps.

You have to flash the gapps at the same time as the rom as the gapps package has more then just app apks in it and it needs to be able to write to the proper areas.
How to do that? The first thing after installing ROM was to install gapps. I think that we are on a good way to find the solution :good:

When you flash the rom dont reboot, flash the gapps right after and then reboot. You will have to reflash the rom with a full wipe.
I made a wipe of disk and cache. I install rom and gapp. After, I rebooted, I add gmail account, I rebooted again and now I have News and Weather app on my apps but not play store.

I mean post the link you used to get the gapps zip file. if the browser FC then the zip maybe corrupted due to it being updated with the new play store
Try installing the new playstore yourself.
