[Q] Wifi Direct - Barnes & Noble Nook Tablet

Wifi Direct, a new protocol to enable seamless sharing
amongst wifi devices without a router (think super adhoc) is
Being implemented in ICS. If this becomes standardized then not having a bluetooth enabled chip wouldnt be so bad. I have seen that it is already working on the Nook Color. Can we port this to our Roms?

Hello,
Does the latest Jellybean roms support Wifi Direct?

Shoot me the link of the rom and I'll port it

google may be a good place to start your search. xda search doesn't always work the best.

CM10 HE acceleration

I was trying to read through the threads but decided to finally make a direct post.
Do the newest builds support hw acceleration?
Sent from my VS920 4G using xda app-developers app
*edit* sorry for the typo in the subject... autocorrect got me.
yes yes
All of the current CM10 builds have hw accelerated graphics for the 16gb version. Last I checked.there were some issues.with hw on the 8gb versions
Cool thanks. I have the 16GB version anyway. I just use it primarily as a video player and didn't want to upgrade if it still wouldn't play h264 well.

How do I tether running super nexus JB

Hey guys, I was have been trying to figure out how to tether my internet via WiFi hotspot on my phone. When I was running the official ICS from Samsung I used foxfi and it worked with no problems. Well now I'm running the Super Nexus ROM and foxfi won't work. Any solutions / alternatives?
Thanks, Dev

you should be able to turn it on. in phone settings in wireless and network select others then select portable wifi hotspot. it is there you have to find it.
I see what you're talking about. Will that go against my ATT contract?

Yes and no. Some people have had success tethering without ATT finding out and charging extra for tethering.
So far I've been ok.. on both iphone and android so I was just making sure doing it this way won't raise a red flag.

We will get LTE with tmobile on the i717.........i thought att and tmobile used diffrent lte bands???
Sent from my SGH-T879 using Tapatalk 2
Yeah I'm using stock ROM rooted with stock modem. I'm pretty sure T-Mobile is using 1900mhz for LTE and ATT uses 1700. Really digging the late though. Download and upload isn't a big concern but the ping has dropped to about half of what it was. Very happy with T-Mobile. I think the lte will spread quickly like their 4G did.

T-Mobile doesn't use 1900Mhz for LTE, only AWS 1700Mhz.
Regardless the i717 doesn't support LTE over 1900Mhz.

Oh wow this is awesome!!!! Could you please get into your ServiceMode (dial *#0011#) and take a screenshot of your ServiceMode?
Did you change any of your APN settings in order to access LTE or you're running default epc.tmobile.com ?
Thanks!
I'll post a picture of it in service mode around 5pm. I'm at work right now and LTE isnt coming through the building very well. Also to answer your APN question I am indeed running the stock epc.tmobile.com. also thanks for clearing up the frequency bands ok both networks I wasn't quite sure.

I like the techie stuff. For instance, in that screenshot I can see that they're using Band 4 (AWS 1700/2100Mhz), LTE bandwidth is 5Mhz which tells me that the maximum possible download/upload speeds are 37mbps down / 12mbps up in that particular market, EARFCN 2175 means that they're using C block of the AWS spectrum which is 10Mhz slice (5Mhz used for downlink, and 5mhz for uplink).
Most consumers don't care about this kinda stuff, but I do
Thanks again!

Ubuntu Touch?

has anyone looked at porting Ubuntu Touch to the LGOG? I read somewhere that the porting is "easy" if you're running CM10.1. but I am no developer so that could be BS.

It's a fairly easy port, but I have stayed away from it because it is mostly not working, most apps are just for show, and it has bricked some nexus 4s, an issue that Canonical included in the release notes. I wouldn't be able to release it with that over my head.

Once it is more stable, I plan to bring it to our devices. It's just not worth the risk right now. I don't like releasing things that I know could brick people.

How good is it? I'm considering upgrading everything to AC, but I want to make sure it'll work with b/g/n devices too (my wife's laptop is a little old, lol)

Asus RT-AC66U is the best router I have ever owned. It handles everything I've thrown at it. B and G will use the 2.4GHz band as will some N devices. Anything that uses 5GHz I default to that frequency. I did a speed test with my HTC One on the WiFi and got 89 Mbps down and 16 Mbps up. I was fairly close to the router. It can reach all the way to the back of my house with only a bar or two signal loss. Newegg has been throwing these routers on sale every now and then, might keep an eye out.
Sweet, sounds pretty awesome...looks like I have some upgrading to do when my school money gets in! Lol
