For Recovery; volume up then power on (do not release any buttons until enter Recovery)
For Download Mode; same as above except use volume down

3 Button Boots into Android System Recovery instead of Download Mode

As the title says, I'm trying to flash 2.3.5 but when I press the three buttons I get the Android System Recovery 3e screen with 4 options instead of Download Mode. How can I fix this?
Hold volume DOWN + Home + Power in that order. Keep ALL pressed until DL Mode, then release all.

yes Volume up will take you into recovery (which will be stock recovery unless you install a custom one)
Volume down will take you into download mode.

how to re- root after upgrade

i upgraded the firmware via kies. i cant/dont know how to root the same way i did it the 1st time ( CF-Insecure ) because holding the 3 buttons down takes me to CWM recovery mode instead of "download mode"
Recovery = Volume up + home + power
Download mode= Volume down + home + power

Weird, never heard of that before. Sure you're doing it correctly?

[Q] I think I just bricked my SGP5

Coming from CM10.1, I wiped everything, and mistakenly rebooted into recovery instead of flashing a new ROM. So I see the Galaxy S/CM logo, and can't get into download mode. Tried power off/volume button combo. When I connect it to my computer, the device manager sees it, but Odin does not see it. Is my only shot now installing Ubuntu and attempting Heimdall? I'll wait till the battery drains to see if that will do anything. Thanks in advance for any help.
If you see the galaxy s/ cm logo it's not bricked. I've done what you did a few times but I managed to get into recovery/cwm mode or download mode. Just press power button + volume down for download mode. For cwm press power button + volume up. Hold both buttons and keep holding until just samsung appears then let go only the power button while holding volume up button until cwm menu appears.
FYI if you installed april 7th build cm 10.1, then the button combination for cwm does not work, if it was april 14th then button combinations work.

Thank You SO MUCH ! You were correct - I guess I wasn't waiting long enough while holding down the buttons. I'm back to Jackpot's ROM, and VERY HAPPY I didn't brick my device ! :highfive:
Anytime. Happy flashing!

[Q] No back button in CWM.

I have installed CWM version 5.0.2.6 but it has no back button.
I also tried pressing vol up+vol down key to toogle enable/disable back button but it didn't helped.
Any suggestions please??
If you're using an old Samsung phone like a galaxy y. Then the back button at the bottom IS the back button you need to use to go back. If its a newer phone like an Ace 2 or S3 or something then you should scroll down to the bottom via volume key and you should see "go back"
