Hi there Guys, i recently upgraded from my old galaxy to the new Galaxy S2. I've got CWM (something called Android System Recovery 3e), and its also rooted.
However, I am not able to flash any custom rom... I tried several ROMs, but none works. The error code i get is:
E:signature verification failed
install_package = (2)
Installation aborted
Click to collapse
Also, while getting into the Recovery thing, i noticed in one of the line, it shows:
Can't access to '/system/csc/ATT/system/'
Click to collapse
I am not sure if thts something to look into.
I did a search through all the forums... but was not able to find any solution. I tried going back to stock rom and then trying it again.. however, it still not worked. Getting the same error msg.
Can anyone help me out....???
I am too desperate to move to a custom ROM.
Rite now I am at:
Android 2.3.4
Baseband: I777UCKH7
Kernel: 2.6.35.7
I suggest you go and read the sticky at the top of this board titled
ATTENTION: AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II General Guide/Walkthrough/FAQ/hints and tips
and the links posted therein thoroughly then if your still having problems come back
I've done everything... I've gone through the stickies.
I tried getting back to stock rom, rooting it again, not using the ROM Manager, everything.
But everytime i get the same error.

It is not enough to just have root. Have you installed a "customize kernel with CWM?" It is step 3 (a, b, or c):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1311081
If so, which kernel did you flash. 3a worked will for me using Entropy's DD:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1289460
If using Mobile odin, just download the .tar option from Entropy's thread. Once that kernel is installed, then you can flash pretty much whatever you want.
christ, another one?

Be aware that Recovery 3e is NOT CWM, but rather it is the stock recovery tool that the phone ships with. You first need to flash a kernel that says "CWM" in the title. I recommend Entropy's Daily Drivers (link 2 posts above) to start with, since they are very stable, and you can at that point flash other kernels or ROMS.
you need to read, read and re-read before you break your phone

I've solved my issue. All I had to do was toggle the signature verification option. I disabled it and tried installing... and it worked fine.
Really really thanks for bearing one more newbie

Hi every one.
I own a Samsung Vibrant, and I am trying to install the last CM7 on it, but I keep getting this annoying messege (E:error in sdcard/dcim/update-cm-7.1.0-RC1-vibant-signed.zip) (status 7) installation aborted!
I kept searching in the forum , and I think I know the problem, my device is vibrant put when I start it it shows GT-I9000
after further searching, I found this post,
By atinm
Make sure whatever you flash has the name "Vibrant" in the file name, status 7 usually means you're trying to flash some other device's file onto the Vibrant. Or you have your properties set incorrectly (which happened if you flashed bilboa1's broken kernel - I think he might had a fix for this if that is the case with you).

I could not find the fix he spoke about.......so what can I do?
thanks in advance
Try Odin back to jfd and then install. Also 7.1 rc1 is pretty old. You should pick up one of the nightlies to get a more up-to-date CM7.

Thanx geoffcorey
this worked perfectly......I will mention the steps just in case someone needed.
1- I downloaded the following files:
T959UVJFD.tar from http://android.azizus.info/vibrant/T959UVJFD.tar
Odin from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=821625
512 pit file from http://www.4shared.com/get/tOVvEDQr/s1_odin_20100512.html
the latest cyanogen.....check cyanogen website under (devices)
*put the cyanogen file on the root of the SD card
2- I followed the instructions in this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=734475
so now I have a stock Vibrant.......Time to root
3- root using this thread (follow the video exactly!)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=734475
now we have a rooted, stock ROM vibrant. lets go cyanogen.
4-download the latest clockwork rom manager from the market (use the markt enabler if it is not shown in your country, like me)
5-press on the first option (flash clockwork mod recovery) and choose vibrant
then press on reboot into recovery.
*if it did not reboot into clockmod recovery and booted in android recovery (blue font screen)

}
just click on the second choice (apply sdcard update.zip ) then repeat step no.5 so you will get clockmod recovery menu
6-then just coose wipedata, then wipe catch
then install zip from sdcard, choose zip from SD card, choose the cyanogen
zip file you put in the sd root, and there you have it!
thanks for all the help I got from this great forum, I wish this helps any one in need.

This helps the op to answer his question how?
Also, stop spamming to get people to use that rom when your "suggestion" has nothing to do with the question.

Hi all.
I had Jelly BlastROM on my GT-S5830i and I wanted to install Simplicity 3.5.
I went back to the stock rom (with Odin) and then I did the process of install, but something was wrong because it was locked in the boot screen.
When I used Odin again to return to the stock rom, the following error appeared in recovery (both, e3 and CWM) screen: "can not mount cache recovery". If I go to "mount and recovery" and try to "mount cache", recovery reports me: "error mounting cache" or something similar...
Since then, I can't flash any custom rom. They always block in boot screen. I can only install the stock rom via Odin.
Any solution? I saw other forums answers but I didn´t find the solution...

Thanks all and excuse me my English. :fingers-crossed:

Hi guys. First post to the forum, been lurking for years, just registered.
I recently updated my phone with the update that Samsung kept bothering me about every 2 hours or so. And It has messed my phone up, it's slow, it drags. It doesn't even show the clock on my lock screen without thinking about it for about 10 seconds. Train wreck.
I've rooted, installed custom recovery, and loaded custom roms on my Galaxy S i9000 and on my grouper Nexus 7. I kinda get how all this works, I'm not a total newb, but with this phone I am at a dead end and i've tried everything I know, and a bunch more tricks I learned here and nothing is working.
My Phone: Samsung Galaxy S3: Canadian (Bell) version SGH-I747M, supposedly the same as the S3 AT&T,

I had to use zadig to replace my drivers for Heimdall
Heimdall will sucessfully flash clockwork recovery, but it refuses to install my CM rom. I haven't tried any other roms, but from what I've read in the forum here, it doesn't seem to matter what rom you use, it just wont do it.
I get Assert, bootloader errors when trying to install from zip in Clockwork Recovery. tried the fix here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=41503727
and it does not work. Odin just says "FAILED" right away.
I thought maybe if I just rooted the phone first, I could at least flash a custom recovery and not have it over written everytime I boot.
I tried CF-AutoRoot, Odin says success, but nothing changes on my phone.
I tried OneClickRoot which worked wonders on my GS i9000 back in the day. No success.
I have tried CM Installer to do it automated, It says success, but no change.
People have reported that Knox may be the problem, but as far as I can tell I don't have it on my phone.
I've been working on this for a day and a half and all I've managed to do is factory reset my phone about 12 times. I need help.. I don't know what to do. Has anybody managed to root their phone or install a custom recovery or rom with a GS3 running 4.4?

Wrong forum myfriend post your question here >> http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3-att <<
Hello Guys,
This evening I decided to root my phone and install Jelly Beans ROM for Samsung Verizon Galaxy S4, I began by rooting my phone using Towelroot, everything was great so far. Then I tried to install a CWm Recovery but I failed doing that, I followed a youtube video but I kept getting "loki aboot version does not match device".
I read somewhere else that I could use Safestrap as recovery, I followed all the instructions installed busybox etc...
I finally went into recovery mode and Installed Jely Beans V7. The installer ran fine and I followed all the options the installation finished and it was time to reboot, I hit reboot and the phone never came back.
All I see now is a Samsung boot screen with an unlocked padlock in the bottom, the phone keeps rebooting and I had a hard time getting into recovery, when I finally did it seems like a different recovery and only gives me the options to apply updates and to wipe data.
The android robot is dead with a red triangle.
Please help what can I do???
I take it you missed the part that you can only flash non-touchwiz roms & cwm on phones with an mdk bootloader?
Plenty of threads on here on how to fix this, I'm on my phone otherwise I'd post links

Sweet thanks finally fixed it! using Full-Wipe NG6
So long story short: Finally got CWM installed on the MS769 from Metro by using some chinese root program to get root, installed busybox, then used the L9 Recovery installer from artas to get CWM on there. So then I try to install bobzhome's P769 CM ROM and met with undesirable results.
Here is CWM installed by the L9 Recovery Installer v1.5:

The rom I'm trying to install:
The "This package is for "p769,p760,u2" devices; this is a "p940" error
This most certainly not a p940! So I suspect CWM is a bit outdated. But how can I get the most up to date CWM when I've already used the most up-to-date L9 Recovery Installer? I've tried other flashing programs like flashr and CWM's official rom manager on Google Play but I get met with the dead android picture when trying to boot into the new recovery I flashed.
I also tried opening up the CM ROM and finding the script that does this check and disabled it. But then shortly I get this error regarding setting recursive metadata. I googled "setting recursive metadata" error and folks just say to update CWM. So I guess I gotta really get CWM updated.
Is this a dead end for me? Should I just toss this phone in a pit of lava?
Have you unlocked the bootloader? If not, you can't install CM.
The CWM you've installed is a 2nd-init recovery. You need to unlock the bootloader to install a) a proper recovery, and b) to install ROMs that aren't based on stock

Thanks for the response. Alas, I feared the worst. I had that feeling since there were several people saying there's absolutely no way to unlock the bootloader, and that there was even a petition to unlock it.
It can be unlocked, using a 910k cable and plenty of patience.
Until then, you can only run stock ROMs, or modified stock ROMs such as Kumakan or UltraROM. Try them out, they may suit your needs if you don't want to go through the BL unlock process.
