Right. I updated to the current Cyanogenmod Nightly build of ICS (4.0.3)
After I did - everytime I try to type something fast the keyboard "freezes" and just shuts down. I don't know if it's a common issue in ICS on SGSII, cause it happened, when I installed stock Samsung ICS 4.0.3 on the phone aswell.
I tried other text apps like Handcent and Go SMS Pro. Same issue. Fast typing creates a freeze of the keyboard.
I am typing in danish, not that I believe that is the problem. I just wanted to share my experience with you here, and learn something new, if anyone has experienced the same annoying issue!

it could happen if you keep the data/settings of your keyboard after the update. clear cache/data of your keyboard. also check for the availability of your language in dictionary
Thanks for the suggestion bala_gamer. I tried it, but it still doesn't work. :-( It shuts down after typing two similar letters I noticed. Really odd error in my opinion.
Maybe I should go back to Gingerbread again.
Have you tried clearing phone cache and dalvik cache ?
Might have something to do with the system itself, bad flash ?
Yes I tried clearing everything on the phone. Everything runs smooth and batterytime has never been better. Only thing wrong is that annoying little bug, when using the android keyboard. Swype is not implemented either. I don't know if it's an old version of something related to the danish language in android.
It's a strange little bug, but annoying as hell, especially when I use my phone so much.

I have a Sprint Touch Pro 2 with stock WM6.5 ROM.
When I type in Opera Mini (say posting a forum message), after a while pressing a space bar (or a comma / period sign) starts erasing the previous word. This is very repeatable. Also once it starts happening, it affects any other keyboard, including the hardware one.
At first I thought it was related to FingerKeybd, so I yesterday uninstalled it and jumped through some hoops to get my English ROM device to type in two languages using HTC native keyboard. However, it appears the bug is still there, although in a modified version - now pressing space erases letter "I" only.
The problem is only with Opera Mini - I can type anywhere else with no issues. I also have a strong suspicion that it's somehow related to suggested words option being turned on, however I use this feature and don't want to give it up.
I did submit a bug to Opera team but it was immediately dismissed as something specific to my particular unit.
I am curious if anyone else had this problem... surely I can't be the only one !
I have the same problem. Thats horrible.
Same problem here. I have autocomplete turned off but it's still happening. It will also erase "ierd" if you type wierd but won't erase it if you type starting with another letter. The crazy thing is it cleared up for a while until I did a hard reset and erased the "fix".
I don't have this bug anymore. I think it may be related to TF3D (Sense). I stopped using Sense several months ago - got tired of lags and memory issues, tried Titanium and never looked back. This seems to have also fixed my Opera keyboard issue, somehow. I've been through many hard resets (trying different things, screwing up, hr to get back to basics) and so far no issues with keyboard. It may be not related as much to Sense as to CHT running on top of it; don't know - try switching to Titanium and see if that helps.
I used to use mini 4.2 and really liked it, but couldn't use the newer versions because the keyboard is just too buggy. I don't really remember what the keyboard did, I just remember that typing was nearly impossible. I use Resco for my sip.
I had the same thing, search Opera mini forum for "kuifje_opera". It turned out to be the autocorrect feature.
i dont face this problem.. perhaps try reinstalling it, + delete cache files? works fine for me! what about in you HW Keyboard, any problems there?
same
Same problem on rx3115 ROM 1.01.11a.

any fix?
Try to use Opera mini 5 beta. From my experience with opera mini for about year I can say that the previous beta version i more stable and there are few problems on the rendering of sites and keyboard input in text fields compare to latest 5.1 version. The only thing I do not like in beta version is no so smoothly scrolling vs 5.1.
It is not a Opera problem. Here is what I did and get rid off it:
- Open Start Menu
- Go to: Settings>Personal>Input
- Now you are in Input Method, from the tabs above click Word Completition and uncheck everything there. Now go on the tab Options (on the right) and uncheck Capitalize first letter of the sentence and Scroll upon reaching the last line.
- Click OK (bottom right) and exit the Start Menu.
- Thats it!
This is what I did and solve the same problem, now everything is great when typing texts.
I am using Windows Mobile Pro 6.5.3, so I don't know if it's gonna work on 6.0, 6.1 or 6.5, but considering that this is an all WinMo option, I think it would work on any WinMo OS. Try it, you ain't gonna screw anything
Cheers.
has anyone come up with a fix for the new market? Mine just keeps force closing. I need my market back. HELP! PLEASE! I've tried everything and nothing works. I searched the forums and tried all the information given in the those post and got no change. I would try just about anything at this point. I even deleted my browser as suggested by another senior member. nothing is working. any suggestions?
Might help to let us know what firmware you're running.
I've never had any problems with the current Market running Brilliant Corners.
Settings/languages and keyboard/ and set default language to English. Problem solved for me. Found that solution by searching these forums. Might depend on what ROM you are using. I'm on CM7.
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App
Wow, that worked for me. I changed the language from some other English to English United States and now the Market doesn't force close.
Btw - I'm on Vegan 7.0.0
not just a firmware problem
I'm running C/CV6 but I've read through these forums several times over the last few days and I've learned one thing for sure. It's not a firmware problem. It's a problem in the update process itself I believe. I'm not a programmer by any means but after reading severals posts regarding this problem, I was able to see that this issue is hitting all the different ROMs across the board. So if it was a ROM issue then it would be confined to just those users. The only thing in common between all users is that their market was working fine, they got the update, and now their market force closes. I have done several different things trying to repair the problem, but was unsuccessful at resolving it. I tried the whole default English language thing in my settings. Didn't work. I deleted my Dolphin browser. Didn't work. I cleared the market cache. Didn't work. I unistalled the update. Didn't work. Each time I made a change, I restarted the tablet so that the changes may take effect. I would really like to get this working. I was about to put some of those classic game emulators on my tablet and some games but I don't wantto go to all the trouble in case I have to wipe the whole tablet and start over entirely. I'd rather not do that either if I don't have to. Thanks for any help guys, all suggestions at this point are welcome.
UPDATE: I just turned my tablet on and the market is now working but it' still the old version. I imagine once it updates, it will start doing this crap again.
keyboard language
I changed my keyboard to "English US" and now my market works again.
I'm on gtabcomb 3.3 bl1.2
Thanks for this help.
I was wondering if anyone else had this happen to swype after rooting or doing a factory reset, it seems that it defaults to spanish the first time I use it. I couldn't get the words to come out right, so I went in to the settings and it was set to spanish. It was the same way when I first got the phone also.
Do most people use/like swype??
Strange
I have never had that happen and I have used Swype since the beta testing days. My old Evo 4g was rooted and I had Swype there and never had any issues. I like Swype, but I think it was better back in the early days. I seemed to be able to type faster with fewer mistakes or wrong words. I think they are trying to make it too smart. I do like the updated version that does away with the popup suggestion list. I still have trouble sometimes getting it to remember certain custom words and email addresses, but I have tried other similar keyboards and always end up coming back to Swype.
I have a problem with several keyboards on Android. After I install a new keyboard everything works OK. After a few days however the keyboard won't pop up when i select a textbox (for example in Messages). I can still switch keyboards and all other keyboards will still work (If they worked before). The only thing that helps is re-installing the keyboard.
This has happened with SwiftKey, Swype, and SlideIT.
Phone: HTC Desire
ROM: Android 2.3.5 Oxygen 2.2.2 (but has happened with every Oxygen I've had and with CM7)
Soo How do I stop the keyboards from not working?
Nobody has any idea to fix this problem?
Is original android keyboard working?
Accidentally sent from my Google Nexus S using XDA Premium
You could try a few other keyboards and see if you get better luck. I've not experienced the same thing as you on my Desire HD.
I currently use the MIUI Android rom.
Standard keyboard and Thumb Keyboard seem to be the only keyboards that consistently keeps working, everything else just stops after some time.
I looked around on Google but I could not find anything. I think this is a bug in Android, I'm going to try a different ROM and see if that helps.
i have tried most keyboards, I really have as its so important. I settled on SlideIT as this has swipe and a quick toggle between swype on and off, and all the right characters are where you need them. My keyboard had never failed me, so I wonder if you need to clear the data and/ or do a hard reset.

I tried everything, I tried clearing data, clearing cache, re-installing ROM, and 3 different ROMs, but nothing works!!! My only hope is that Android 4.0 fixes this, but as you know the HTC Desire Custom ROM is still in early beta.
I have my Galaxy S9+ since 2018 and it was perfectly fine, until some days ago (or weeks, don't know exactly), when I started to notice a very frustrating issue:
When I'm typing, sometimes it seems to get kinda laggy and then it starts to skip some letters, or even deleting some previous words when I start typing the next one. Usually that happens when I'm typing fast (which I'm used to, like most people). And it's completely random when it will happen or not. Sometimes this bug just disappears and typing flows perfectly.
I've attached a video to show that happening. I'm brazilian, so I'm typing in portuguese, but I guess you guys can see the bug at least. Look that some words goes completely wrong, and I guarantee it's not me mistyping (lol), it's that slowdown's fault. And sometimes it just doesn't happen.

Ps.:
- My phone is up to date (Android 10) and so are all my apps. Last software update was March, 16th and maybe that's when it all started, I'm not sure;
- My keyboard app is SwiftKey, but I've tried other keyboards and the issue happens too;
- Yes, I've recently installed many apps, and to be honest I can't remember which were the last ones, to uninstall them and try;
- I've already tried clearing cache and data of my keyboard and some other apps;
- I've tried clearing partition cache;
- I've tried reseting my phone! Nothing worked.
Does anyone have any idea of what's causing it?
