If someone still has the update.zip for the onscreen button enabler by rashid.fairus, I would be very thankful. The original links dont work any longer.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1521235 But only from this poster the alpha one doesnt work.

Latest Swype APK (1.56...)for our HVGA device?

Swype just released another beta, version 1.56.30.7625.t100, that works much better for me than previous versions. I downloaded the one from [MOD EDIT: WAREZ] for my nexus one and it works great, but it doesn't work on my eris due to the different screen resolution. In that thread someone mentioned looking elsewhere on xda for a HVGA friendly version, but I couldn't find one. Anyone know where I can find one?

If you're a developer, you can open your working Nexus APK, swap out the keyboards for the HVGA keyboards from the old Eris/Hero version, re-sign the APK, and it will work on your Eris.
Even easier: Copy assets/files/license.dat from the old working HVGA one (1.25) into the new one, then re-sign.
I'd post a finished one here, but I think they're banning people who post copies of Swype.
Swype
I've been using Swype for about 5 hours now on my Droid ERIS and I've had absouloutly no problems with it at all.

I got the updated beta email from swype and tried installing with their installer, but after installing it gave me an error message about not having permissions to install it. When using it, it gave me another message saying "The Swype package you installed is configured for another device and will operate with limited functionality. Please contact Swype about this issue." and will only work with touch typing. I'm guessing this is because I'm rooted and running a rom ported to the eris.
So it appears I now have a different problem...
thenestor, I'd like to try making and re-signing my own apk, but I don't even know where to start. Could you give me some direction?
I tried to create my own apk, and it almost worked, but swype went into an endless loop of force closing. What I did was renamed both 1.56 and 1.25 as zips, moved the keyboard folder from 1.25 to 1.56, then used some auto signer bat file I found here to re-sign it, then changed the name back to an apk extension. I think there wasn't a problem with my process, but with the transfer of the keyboard files. Perhaps I needed to copy more than just the keyboard pngs?
Forget about moving the keyboard and use the other suggestion instead. Way easier. Get someone's copy of the hvga version of 1.56 (try the Hero cdma themes and apps forum), and copy the license file from your working 1.25 into 1.56. Then auto-sign the apk and try it.

I just tried this and I thought it was going to work, but after clicking install, it said installing for several seconds then gave up and said application not installed. The 1.25 version I got the license.dat file from installs and works just fine, and the 1.56 version I put it into would install before adding the license file, but only work with tapping, giving the wrong device error message.
No working 1.56 swype for the Eris yet?

Did you remove META-INF and then auto-sign the APK? You can use this to auto-sign:

Like I said, I wish I could just post a finished version, but I can't.

You people are going to get me in trouble. Here's HVGA 1.56, hacked with the license.dat from 1.25, in both "original" and "htc_ime" flavor:
anyhub.net/file/swype-hvga-1.56-licensed.apk
anyhub.net/file/swype-hvga-1.56-htc_ime-en-licensed.apk
Second one has English only, for the sake of file size.

I'd have to PM way too many people. This way, whoever's quick will get it.
Remember to uninstall the old version first. To verify that you're running 1.56, swype the word "wont" without an apostrophe. If it automatically changes to "won't", it's 1.56.

Good to know man. Thanks again!
1.56 is nice! Seems really smooth.
Tested and works
How would i modify these files to work with wvga resolutions? I tried exchanging the keyboard pngs the swyperef files from the hvga to wvga but swype force closes repeatedly when i install the modded apk.
So I installed the apk and enabled swype in my text input settings and swype never comes up when I bring up a keyboard. Seems like HTC touch input overrides swype. Any help would be great.

long press in a input box, and the input box after you have enabled swype. A box will pop up that says input method, just select swype in that.
A long press on an input box gives me a truncated Input Method box with no selections...thus no keyboards at all!

Wanted - Samsung Keypad App [Android 2.3.x]?

Hey there!
Could someone please upload(/give me the link to) the default keypad (Keyboard App) that comes with Samsung phones [AxT9IME.apk]? I had it on Froyo and I recently upgraded my phone (I5801) to CM7 (2.3.5). And now I terribly miss it!
It would be a huge favour if someone could get this for me!
Thanks a ton
Here's the one from the Epic 4G. It's possible that it's device locked, but I'm not sure. It'll probably work if you edit your phone's build.prop.
Just tried installing it and its a no go...

You should try to push it to your system/app before giving up. Although it may require twframework or it's device locked (as stated, build.prop edit may be necessary).
never try one that on market?
Did you find it yet?
I too am looking for this old style Samsung Keyboard. I prefer it cause the keys are bigger and used to the layout.

Black Stock keyboard

I got tired of seeing the white and grey keyboard and didnt wanna use the Gingerbread keyboard cause of the small buttons. So I themed the stock one a little bit. Thought I would share it with the community.
Using root explorer, copy to /system/app. Change permissions to rw-r-r, reboot to xrecovery, clear cache and dalvik cache, Reboot, Enjoy
[EDIT]
added odexed version - not a flashable zip. Use same method from above
oh nice! saves me doing it i was just about to start doing my own one lol!
Something i didn't know how much i need it! thank you man
I followed your instructions but it keeps force-closing every second.
I'm on MiniCM, anyone experiencing this?
Change the name of it to the name of your keyboard before you move it and it will over write.
(NOTE)
Not all roms have the same name for the keyboard

try deleting LatinIME.odex
Edit: don't have to rename the textinput-tng to the existing keyboard since the package name is different anyway... (?)

Well most phones already have the stock Eclair keyboard or GIngerbread keyboard. My rom is Gingerbread 2.3.7. So I know this will work if anyone already has either keyboard in their ROM. Ive swapped around to all three keyboards. All worked. and I know the icons are hdpi. They look a lot better on my phone then mdpi. And they get resized by android anyways. I left the characters bigger so they can be seen better. Only notice two characters that hang over a litte bit. Neither causes any issues though. BUT, I guess I could change the icons to mdpi and resize the characters if anyone wants it done.
Thanks for the feedback

I will definitely try. I been thinking about a transparent one for a few days now. Cant find icons for it. So I will have to make or convert some. Might take me a day or so but I will get it done
Ive installed this keyboard. But the black theme only works in portrait. Why is it? Thanks.

REQUEST: MOD for Android Keyboard (No Enter Key)

Good day everyone!
I hope that DEV's alot some time for my request.
My request is all about the android keyboard's missing feature that enables you to switch Smiley key into "Next key" or Enter key.
I look all over the forums and I found a modded ICS android keyboard, BUT its intended for NEXUS. I also want to ask if its possible for my ace to use this modded keyboard. Thanks!
why don't you use swype ?? It's better and is upto your requirements also

Would you mind if i ask 1 more thing? How can u make it as a SYSTEM App?? I also can't seem to find the keyboard app in my lewa rom, because I have read in some posts that you can overwrite the system app with your desired app then just change the Permission.
By the way, thanks sax0406 for giving some time.
