[Q] unblock me free doesn't work - Barnes & Noble Nook Tablet

this is not a game from gameloft or EA, it's not a "big" game.
it's just a puzzle game, i can open it, go to "Play", and then when i choose either Challenge or Relax, it automatically exits, (no force close prompt, no message like "your device is not compatible")
i thought i can play my favorite game on this device
here is the game: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.kiragames.unblockmefree&hl=en

Works for me. I'm on SDcard CM7. Seems like a good mind Challenger. I prefer Androku.

maybe because i'm not on CM7. my NT is just rooted.

Just checked it on my Stock Rooted tablet. It loads to the point of starting the first game and then crashes out. I've run into a few programs like this that don't seem to run on the NT without also going to a full new rom.
CM7 may be on my agenda for this week.

[Q] Market Compatibility - What's The Problem

What exactly is it that is blocking certain apps on the market? I understand the general reason: That the market doesn't believe the NC is the compatible device. What I'm asking is, what developmentally needs to be changed (build.prop maybe?) to allow more market options. It's a pain to manually update all the sideloaded apps the market won't recognize, and the AppBrain method only works for those who were smart enough not to upgrade to the new market, since it disables the "Fast Web Installer". I'd love to look into this. I know changing build.prop directly to identify as a different device is supposed to mess up the drivers somehow; what else could be done?
Edited to add: Why is it that market enabler doesn't work on the Nook Color?
The market is based on your location. Developers can limit who can see their apps to download based on region. The market will only show apps working with your android version. If you are on android 2.1, it will not show android 2.2+ apps. In addition, older android market only show like 10 apps in portrait mode.
sorta off topic but has anyone tried these

The Market looks at multiple things on your device. It ranges anywhere from the version of Android SDK you are using to the device's location and the device type.
I've found the best method to solving this problem is to use adb to pull a copy of your build.prop file and edit it.

Thank you for this. I can not wait to get home and try it. I recently switched to the 950 Mhz Kernel posted by Geniusdog254 (running very nicely btw) and Angry Birds quit showing up in the market.
I was curious as to what else I was missing. I would love to buy and install Dungeon Hunter 2, but the only .apk's I can find online are cracked ones and it's not in the market at all for me. Hopefully this helps.

Dungeon Hunter 2 is only for the iPhone right now.
When it is available, you won't find it in the market. Gotta go directly through Gameloft.
As it stands right now, there is no way to legitimately purchase a Gameloft game for your nook. It doesn't view the nook as a compatible device. You can't buy it for your phone, and transfer the apk. That shows as an invalid copy.
Take a look through this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=919287
Lots of Gameloft talk.
Thanks for the heads up. I have DH 2 on iPhone but would be fine with the original on NC. I would love to be able to buy it instead of trying to bypass all that.

Yeah, I'm totally with ya.
There are even a couple of games I would be willing to purchase a second time, if they would let me.

[Q] Honeycomb eReaders, and You!

So here's the dilemma: I love the HC preview, and I love Aldiko, however i have yet to find a way to make them work together flawlessly. No matter what DPI i have set, i can never get Aldiko to format the books correctly. What i mean is, the top of the pages cut off some of the words... either the top half of the words cut off, or whole sections of words get cut off.
Questions:
1) Does anybody have this working correctly, and if so what settings are you using.
2) If not what eReader is everybody using for HC? (note: The nook app is not an option for me. I will run CM7 or even Froyo all day long before i use the nook app.)
nook app or kindle app
Nook app is pretty good

Why so down on the Nook app? It works very well; all the bells & whistles (highlight, dictionary lookup, etc.) also work nicely.

Personal preference, however i think i may have to be open minded and take a third and maybe a fourth look at the nook app at this point.
I have tried a bunch of ebook apps as I still use my nook as primarily a reading device. Right now I am between Cool Reader and FBReader. As of right now I am preferring FBReader as Cool Reader seems to have issues with certain books, seems hit or miss. I still fall back to Kindle and Nook apps for DRM'd books. I too liked Aldiko but I found it to be running really sluggish lately so I dumped it. Also check out Moon Reader+ as it too is pretty cool but it also had some annoyances for me personally. I also read about an app that is coming soon which looks like it may be pretty slick Bluefire.
Hope that helps and keep in mind I don't run Honeycomb so am not sure how compatible these apps may or may not be.
I could absolutely be remembering wrong, but when I tried the Honeycomb Preview (which was awesome) I remember that being the one big bummer for me as well, that Aldiko didn't work. I was able to get it to work for me by going under Settings-Applications-Aldiko and then selecting "Move to phone". That may or may not fix it for you, but I thought I'd mention it.

[Q] NOVA on CM7

I'm running CM7 nightly build and I can't get NOVA from Gameloft to run. Force closes right at launch every time. I've purchased the game for my Incredible, and pulled the download files from there and put them in sdcard/gameloft/games/nova but it's still force closing. Tried rebooting, toggling compatibility mode, reinstalling, nothing seems to work. I'm not opposed to re-buying the game to get a working APK but I haven't been able to find anything through extensive searching except people saying they've gotten it to work, and a couple Youtube videos showing the game running, but I have yet to find a single person explain how they got it working. Can anyone help?
I have version 3.4.2 and its running fine. Didnt do anything special to get it working.

some games do that when you are trying to run them off a sdcard. go to settings->applications->NOVA->move to phone. and see if that makes a difference.
When it comes to gameloft games, it has to be just the right version for the Nook color, or it won't work. I would try what the other 2 post suggested, and if that doesn't work, I believe there is a gameloft thread with the "working" version numbers for what apk you need.
I've got v.3.4.2 running on CM7 just fine. The menus and loading screen are small, but the game is full screen... now if only I could get other gameloft games to freakin' work!!!
Is it slow for you guys during heavy fight scenes? because it is for me

[Q] phone rebooting while installing hd games

hey guys, my optimus one keeps rebooting whenever i try to install an hd game like air attack hd, drift mania hd etc ..while reckless racing and some others work fine ..has anyone else faced this problem? ..am on megatron v1 and franco kernel v19.2
HD is a suffix that doesn't really mean anything in this context... it just looks cool.
When exactly does the restart happen? When you start the install, after a while, when you're done and launching the game for the first time...?
What's your system like? Do you use anything like DarkTremor? Do you install to internal memory or SD? Have you connected your phone to your PC and checked if there are any leftovers in .android_secure? Do you have ADB ready? Have you cleared your cache?
air attack hd is not compatible for the p500

specifically what hd games are you talking about?
honestly i can't remember THOSE HD GAMES that caused the rebooting..
i remembered just one..
GuerillaBob.. and mostly Gameloft HD Games..
that's all i can remember
The specifics would be:
1. Connect to your PC, check the SD card for errors, then check if the list of files in the .android_secure matches what your phone reports to be installed on SD.
2. To clear the cache, restart into recovery mode, then select "clear cache"
All of this probably won't help with most Gameloft titles though... they are simply not designed for your hardware (and as far as I remember not sold to people with such devices). Obviously that still shouldn't crash the installer (though it is expected to crash the game), but my guess is that the games are simply too big.
guerrilla bob is not even supported on our phone so theres no way you could've downloaded it from the market. WAREZ
i downloaded guerrilla bob from some site and installed it..it runs for a few minutes then closes automatically..but, that's another matter...

does the game size matter?..nova is running fine even though it's bigger in size than the ones i am talking about..
Let's put it this way: if a game is big, it usually has a more complex structure inside the APK as well and that can cause issues... at least that's what it looks like to me, but I haven't worked my way through that part of the Android source yet. Of course, it should not happen, but who knows what the malware you've downloaded is trying to do. Just stick to the market, for your and our sake, which is BTW also the component that's responsible for "not compatible" messages. APKs themselves don't have any concept of "compatibility".
in regard to the size of the game' i think that doesnt even matter.. i have a NOVA also running on my phone and it works fine on stock 2.2 rom ~
about guerillabob.. i managed to play this game that's when i was on custom rom (void #forever) OC'd @ 768mHz..
HD Games TIP : tried to find APK that is running on ARMV6.. (GuerillaBob for ARMv6) coz i think the APK's that you downloaded are not working on AMRv6 that's why when we tried to install the game' it reboots our phone automatically.. we all know that phone has their different specs' hardware and limitations
HOPE IT HELPS ^_^

[Q] Does Auralux run on any unofficial ICS/JB ROM?

So, there's this game called Auralux, and I want to play it, but it's not supported on Gingerbread, so I need ICS or JB to run it. I tried a couple of different JB ROMs but didn't have any luck (epinter's, and one other, I forget which now but I think it might've been AOKP). The game would run for a minute or two, and suddenly crash to the launcher (sometimes even within seconds). No message saying why, just playing the game, then suddenly, boom, launcher. The Auralux app developer couldn't figure it out, and suggested trying another ROM, which is what prompted me to try the others.
Lo and behold, "that" ROM comes out, and the game works like a charm. I can play to my heart's content pretty much. The occasional lockup which I attribute to the phone not the app. But "that" ROM has the issue where it never sleeps, so battery life is less than ideal. It dies within about 4-5 hours unless I turn the phone completely off between playing the game.
I don't even use this phone for a phone anymore, I just want it to be able to play Auralux cause I love that game, but can't get that on my iPhone or iPad, and I'm not at my PC enough to play the game whenever the urge strikes.
So, is there anyone out there who plays this game on an Atrix without any major issues? Which ROM, or how did you fix it?
I know, seems like a lot of trouble to go through to play one game...but I'm a sucker for these kinds of games, and it has become one of my favorites of the genre. In fact, it's the first game on Android that I've paid more than 10 cents for. I even considered at one point buying a Nexus 7 just to be able to play it on a real JB device.
The only ROMs on which the game doesn't crash are HWA enabled ROMs (GB ROMs, AtrICS, "someone's" CM10 and ICSROM).
